Ingredients For Halloween Night

Summary:

Aizawa just wants his kids to have a moment where they don't have to worry about fighting for their lives.

So with help from Hizashi and Nemuri, he sets a plan in action to give his kids a memorable Halloween.

Unfortunately, that means he must go to the store to get the things that they need.

Notes:

This is kind of based on what my family and I do every Halloween nowadays with Adam being added over the last two years.

My Mom and I usually go out and buy food before making Halloween-themed food while watching Halloween movies. Then we eat it all for dinner with everyone else while still watching Halloween movies lol. It's honestly some of my most favorite memories ever since I stopped trick-or-treating.

Sorry for rambling a bit I just thought that was something sweet to share with all of you.

I hope you all stay Blessed and Safe.

Work Text:

Aizawa felt slight annoyance creep up his back as he hid his face in his capture weapon, avoiding eye contact as much as he could. He knew that no one would stop him for a chat since not many would dare speak to him, but there were always a few who were brave enough to stop him either to talk to him or to insult him.

“Life of a hero,” Aizawa mumbled softly as he grabbed a shopping cart from where they were parked off to the side and pulled it out towards the store.

He kept one hand on the cart while the other pulled out his phone to check the list he had made for the random things he was going to need.

The first on the list was, of course, candy and a lot of it so Aizawa didn’t hesitate to head to the soda and candy aisle where he grabbed a few large bags of assorted Halloween candy and grabbed the many drinks he needed while there.

As he pushed the cart towards the next aisle, he sent a silent apology to his future self knowing how this was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to all the junk food he was buying for his students. He knew it wasn’t healthy and that they would probably all crash from sugar overloads, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care as long as it made his students happy and made them forget their worries for at least one night.

Aizawa flinched slightly as he remembered the disappointed and said faces that had washed over each of their faces when they were told they couldn’t leave the school grounds for a little while. This was thanks to the most recent villain attack, and though it wasn’t as violent as the others, it was still a clear sign that none of the students were safe for the time being.

He thought back to how he heard each of them muttering to each other about how they were looking forward to Halloween. How it was going to be so much fun to hang out with one another and shop for costumes with one another. He remembered the girls were especially excited about that.

He could also remember how even Bakugou was excited about going trick-or-treating with everyone declaring that he himself would have gotten the most candy had they been able to go through with their Halloween plans.

All of that had been stripped away from them though much like every other normal thing that they were meant to do as kids. It was no shock that this announcement had angered the tired teacher, but there was nothing he could do to change it since he himself knew that this was the only way to protect his students for the time being.

It wasn’t until a few days after the announcement when he was in the teacher’s lounge with Hizashi and Nemuri did the end of a Halloween at home came up. All it really was, was them gathering the entire 1-A class in the dorm living room that would be filled with blankets, pillows, and snacks where they would just turn on the tv and watch horror movies until they all passed out from the need to sleep.

Aizawa shouldn’t have been so surprised when he told his kids about this, and they instantly all agreed. They had bombarded him with questions about how they could turn it into a day of spending time with one another. They had asked if they could make Halloween-themed food, carve jack-o'-lanterns, and make a giant pillow fort in the living room before they settled down to watch the movies, all while they stayed in their pajamas.

Of course, seeing the bright, hopefulness, and innocence in his students’ eyes, he couldn’t refuse them, so with a quiet grumble he had agreed which had caused each of them to cheer before thanking him repeatedly.

“These damn kids really are making me soft,” Aizawa mumbled to himself as headed down the next to the aisle to grab chips and popcorn, knowing that his kids couldn’t eat just sweets for the night they were planning.

He carefully placed the chips at the top of the cart so they wouldn’t get flattened by any of the heavier items that he needed before he began to look for the pre-made cupcake batter and brownie batter knowing he was going to need a lot of each.

“Do these kids even know how tightly I’m wrapped around each of their fingers?” Aizawa asked himself as he grabbed white and orange cupcake frosting before grabbing Halloween-themed sprinkles. “They’ve got me buying all this stuff just for a simple night,” He said as he finally got to the cupcake batter and brownie batter. “A night that I wouldn’t even give a damn about if it wasn’t for them,” He mumbled, unable to help the small smile that spread to his face.

He shook his head as he put the many boxes of baked sweets in the bag before heading towards the produce section, planning on getting as many apples as possible as he remembered hearing Izuku and Mina saying something about caramel apples being one of their favorite treats.

Aizawa knew that these kids were his weakness and he just hoped no one found out just how weak he was for them knowing well that it wouldn’t end well for any of them.

At that moment, though, he pushed those thoughts from his head and continued to grab the things he needed to make his kids’ first Halloween with him and with the other special, and if he grabbed himself a black cauldron mug with a little black cat inside of it well, no one needed to know.
