Work Text:
When Jeongguk got back to the hotel room, he felt gross.
Of course, that was pretty normal. They had been on a red hot stage, dripping sweat for several hours while running around, having fun, getting emotional, the normal stuff when it came to a concert performance. But even so, nothing sounded better than jumping in the shower before flopping into bed for the night.
“ARMY were really loud this time, huh Gguk?” Jimin asked from where he was puffing up his pillows, grinning up at the younger as he did. Looking at the older, you’d never be able to tell that he’d been performing all night. Well, you would from the sweat slicked hair and the slight droop to his limbs of exhaustion, but in his face? He had just as much energy and excitement as he always did, and Jeongguk envied it just a little.
“They really were,” Jeongguk smiled back, peeling off his sticky shirt and throwing it into an open suitcase to wash later. “It’s always great seeing them like that.”
“It really is, now go in the shower, you smell.”
Jeongguk stuck his tongue out at the older in an act of playful defiance, before he did as he was told and headed into the small ensuite bathroom and turning on the water, staying outside the shower cubicle as he waited for the water to heat up.
Even despite the exhaustion from the concert, Jeongguk felt just a little… off. He didn’t really know what it was. Maybe he’d pushed himself harder than he normally did in a performance, but he hadn’t thought he’d been that bad really. He must have been clenching his teeth quite a lot during it though, as now being a bit more relaxed, the back of his jaw was throbbing lightly.
It wasn’t extreme pain or anything like that, just a dull throbbing ache that was more of an irritant, like he’d clenched his teeth tightly for a long time and was now feeling his teeth right themselves again. Opening his mouth wide to stretch his jaw a little more to try and speed up the process and get the ache to stop, Jeongguk peeled the rest of his clothes off and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash the sweat from his body and relax his tense muscles.
He loved performing, more than anything else in the world, but it always did a number on him and the others. ARMY had paid to see them, so every show had to be energetic, happy and special. Which was fine at the beginning of a tour, but once you got to the end of the streak of dates, it really began to weigh on all of them.
“Jeongguk, hurry up! Don’t hog all the water!”
Jeongguk could barely hear Jimin from the other side of the door, and annoyance spiked at him a little bit. He hadn’t been in too long at all, the older could have a little more patience at least. Regardless, Jeongguk grabbed hold of the body wash the two had brought and cleaned himself off more, then quickly washed his hair before stepping out and turning the hot water off.
At least the tour was over now, which was half really sad, and half a relief. It was always sad to say goodbye to ARMY until the next tour, but the thought of sleep was more exciting than the sadness was.
Exiting the bathroom, Jeongguk left the door open for Jimin to hurry in after him, before he flopped down on his bed and massaged the left side of his aching jaw. He’d never really clenched his jaw too much before, so he didn’t know what had caused him to do so today so much. But it was the only explanation for the pain he was feeling. Although ‘pain’ really was the wrong word for the uncomfortable throb.
Stripping off his towel, Jeongguk pulled some loose sleeping clothes on and pulled himself under the blankets. They only had a few hours to rest before they had to get back up and get on a long plane journey from where they were currently staying in America back home to Korea. It was around a 13 hour flight, so at least they’d be able to try and get some sleep on the plane, but that never was the most restful sleep in the world.
Turning off his small bedside lamp, Jeongguk got as comfortable as he could in the hotel bed and tried to turn his brain off.
But the uncomfortable throbbing was so distracting that it was hard to do. He’d definitely been in more pain in the past, in fact he could name several times right off the top of his head where he’d fallen during dance practice and bruised the hell out of his kneecaps that hurt more than the pain in his jaw was.
But that was easily ignorable, this just… wasn’t.
Before he knew it, Jimin was coming out of the bathroom and climbing into his own bed, turning the lights off as he did. Jeongguk stayed still and kept his breathing even, trying to convince Jimin and himself that he was already asleep.
All he had to do was turn off. He just had to get a few hours of sleep.
Normally he could fall asleep anywhere.
Hoping another position would help, Jeongguk rolled over and lay on the other side, hoping less pressure on one side of his face would hurt less, but lying on his left side only seemed to amplify it, so he rolled back over again, resting his head on his hand to hope the opposite would be true, that more pressure would help.
It didn’t.
“Are you okay, Gguk?” Jimin’s half asleep voice came from the other bed, noticing the younger’s inability to get comfortable.
“Yeah,” Jeongguk said quietly, unwilling to break the silence of the room too much. “Just still a little wired, can’t turn off.”
Jimin gave a sleepy smile that Jeongguk could barely see from his own bed, but it made his heart swell regardless. “Try to get some rest though, or you’ll struggle tomorrow.”
“I know, Chimmy-hyung.” Jeongguk replied, hoping there was no venom in his tone. If there was, he didn’t mean there to be. He didn’t want to upset the older, and he didn’t mean to snap if he had, but he was trying to sleep. He wanted to, but he just couldn’t get comfortable enough to drop off. “I’m trying, don’t worry.”
“It’s always hard to sleep after a concert, huh?”
“Yeah.”
—————
The few hours they had to sleep came and went in a blink of an eye, and Jeongguk hadn’t managed to drop off at all. The dull, throbbing overall ache had worsened as the night had continued, now centred on the left side of his jaw, and Jeongguk would now very much call it pain. If he opened his mouth, a spike of pain would travel down his jaw. If he closed it, the same. If molars on that side of his mouth even touched Jeongguk felt like he’d burst into tears from the stab of pain.
But he kept it quiet as his alarms went off and he got ready to head to the airport, getting into comfortable but fashionable clothes for the journey. He ate the cereal bar Namjoon handed him, but kept the chewing slow, gentle, and on the right side of his mouth. Every time his teeth did meet on the left, Jeongguk couldn’t stop himself from flinching, but if any of the other 6 members noticed, they didn’t mention it.
Before too long they’d gotten through security and on to their private plane, and were quickly in the air on their way home. Jeongguk wanted nothing more than to be back in the dorm, in his own bed.
“Kid, what’s up with you?” Yoongi asked as he sat next to Jeongguk, flicking through a magazine as if he didn’t actually care about Jeongguk’s answer, but the maknae knew it was just a ruse. If Yoongi didn’t care, he wouldn’t have asked in the first place. But by now, in the air and unable to escape, uncomfortableness growing by the second, Jeongguk couldn’t bring himself to keep hiding it.
“I think I’ve got a little toothache, hyung. That’s all.”
Yoongi looked up from the magazine, and Jeongguk also seemed to have gained Seokjin and Hoseok’s attention at his words, causing him to shrink back into his seat a little. “It’s not awful though, I’m fine.”
“How long? And what do you mean you ‘think’ you do? You either have a toothache or you don’t.”
Jeongguk sighed a little. “Not too long, it only started last night when we got back to the hotel. And I don’t know, hyung, it doesn’t feel like a normal toothache. At first, I thought I’d just clenched my jaw too much because it ached a little, but it’s getting worse and is focused on one side now.”
Yoongi sighed a little, before reaching over and grabbing Jeongguk’s chin, forcing the youngest to look at him. It wasn’t a harsh movement though, as much as Yoongi wasn’t always the most careful, he didn’t actively tug on Jeongguk’s face, in fact, the movement was much more gentle than it looked.
“Hmm, your face is a little swollen on one side. It’s the left that hurts?” Jeongguk gave a little nod in response. “Hopefully it’s nothing, I’ve got some painkillers in my carry on though. Did you sleep much?” When Jeongguk shook his head, Yoongi rolled his eyes and let go of Jeongguk’s face. “I’ll get you some painkillers, and then you’re taking a nap.”
“Hyung I’m fine.”
“I said, you’ll take some painkillers, then you’ll take a nap.” Yoongi’s tone left no room for any more answering back, so Jeongguk stayed quiet, watching as Hoseok handed over Yoongi’s bag and the older rooted through, pulling out a little blister pack and handing it to Jeongguk with a bottle of water. The youngest did as he was told, popping out two of the pills and taking them with a swig of water before handing them back to Yoongi.
The older, not completely satisfied it seemed, then grabbed a small inflatable pillow and handed it to the younger, pushing the right side of his face against it towards the window. “Sleep.”
“Got it, hyung.” Jeongguk said back, although his tone was a little more confrontational than he meant it to be.
He was tired, he was sore, he felt gross, and he really didn’t want to be babied in that moment. But if Yoongi had a problem with the way he’d been spoken to, he didn’t say anything about it, simply getting up and leaving Jeongguk to it.
The others slowly but surely went back to what they’d been doing before, their attention no longer on Jeongguk.
Thankfully, the painkillers didn’t take too long to kick in, and the now painful throbbing soon faded enough to where Jeongguk was able to fall into a restless sleep.
—————
When Jeongguk awoke, he did feel better.
Not a whole lot, the throb was still there, but it was back to uncomfortable more than painful, centred right back on the left side.
But Jeongguk could handle that, and he knew it wouldn’t make him as irritable as it had been previously.
“Ah, sleeping beauty is awake.” Taehyung grinned from next to him, putting down his phone that had some sort of mobile game running on it. “Feeling any better?”
Jeongguk nodded a little in confirmation, not quite awake enough to form words yet as he surveyed his surroundings.
Taehyung was next to him, with Jimin and Yoongi in the two chairs in front. When he’d fallen asleep, he’d been alone in the little booth, but apparently the others had moved to keep a closer eye on him. Seokjin and Hoseok were still to his left though in the little booth there, but both appeared to be sound asleep, complete with eye masks and samsung buds sticking in their ears to block out the sounds around them with music. Jeongguk envied them a little, he wished he was still asleep.
“How long was I asleep…?” Jeongguk asked, clearing his throat when his voice cracked from the sleep still clogging his throat.
“A solid 7 hours, we’re over half way through the flight now.” Taehyung answered from beside him, and when Jeongguk rubbed the sleep from his eyes to try and wake up a little more, he could feel Yoongi’s piercing gaze on him.
“You should go back to sleep.” Jimin said from next to the older, a small smile on his lips. “You could do with more rest.”
“I’m alright, hyung.”
“No.” Yoongi’s tone still held no room for arguments. “Go back to sleep, we’ll wake you up when we’re getting ready to land.”
Jeongguk pouted, but didn’t say anything in rebuttal as he shifted a little, moving to rest his head on Taehyung beside him rather than the inflatable pillow. His best friend was more comfortable anyway, and if he shifted a certain way, he could keep pressure off his jaw while still being comfortable.
He felt movement as Taehyung put his earphones back in to return to his game, but the youngest was sound asleep again within seconds as the other’s hand raised and fingers started threading through his hair.
—————
Jeongguk was barely aware of being woken up when they landed and lead through the airport towards their ride back to the dorm. He knew the other had laughed a little at him, amused by how barely awake he’d been through the experience, but they lead him without any actual complaints and got him into Sejin’s car as soon as they could. Jeongguk had dozed the entire way back too, an uncomfortable heat bubbling under his skin.
They’d gotten back to the dorm before Jeongguk was even awake enough to realise until he was being helped out of the car by Seokjin.
“How’re you feeling?” The oldest asked once Jeongguk had supported himself on his own feet, rubbing his eyes a little more.
“I’m great, hyung, just tired.”
“And the toothache?”
“Completely gone.”
Jeongguk felt guilty as soon as he said the lie, the complete and total lie. The toothache wasn’t gone, in fact, it was worse than it had been before now he was awake enough to notice it. The stabbing was now a constant down the side of his throat and up into his head, every beat of his heart causing a throb of pain that started in his jaw and throbbed down to his collarbone and up to his temple. But he took it with a smile.
It was only a toothache, he didn’t want the others to worry any more than they already were.
“Are you sure?” Jeongguk could see the doubt in the oldest’s face, but he gave Seokjin a big smile regardless.
“Positive.”
—————
Namjoon knew Jeongguk was lying about being okay the second they got off that plane. Of course, Jeongguk was always difficult to wake up, especially if he’d been deeply asleep, but the trip through the airport then back to the dorm had been something else entirely. It was rare they had to drag Jeongguk around like a puppet unless he was feeling too unwell to hide it.
When they’d gotten back and Jeongguk had told Seokjin straight that he was fine, Namjoon knew.
They all knew, but none of them could bring it up without confronting Jeongguk too strongly when he was obviously feeling like shit. So, they let it go. For now. Jeongguk had pretty much gone straight back to bed anyway, claiming that he missed his bed and was going to have an early night, and it was yet another warning sign that Jeongguk wasn’t doing great. Granted, they had schedules the next morning, and long flights were exhausting, but normally Jeongguk would at least wait to eat and play a few games of Overwatch with the rest of the maknae line before calling it a night.
But Namjoon swallowed his worry, and one-by-one the others went off to bed too, ready for their early morning start.
The early morning start that definitely didn’t go to plan when Jeongguk came in to the kitchen after being woken, looking as white as a sheet with the left side of his face looking like he’d been punched repeatedly.
Namjoon frowned at the sight, not hesitating before hurrying over to the maknae and gently cupping his right cheek, tilting his head a little so Namjoon could see the damage.
“Gguk?”
Jeongguk at least looked a little ashamed as Namjoon inspected his face, Seokjin joining him only a moment later. “My toothache is still bothering me.”
“I can see that, you’re really swollen.” And burning with a fever that Namjoon could feel through Jeongguk’s un-swollen cheek, but the leader didn’t feel the need to point that out too. The youngest was trembling, pale, clammy and swollen enough for them all to know he was in no state to go to dance practice that morning.
“And feverish.” Nevermind, Seokjin had pointed it out for him.
Jeongguk opened his mouth to reply, but the second his lips had parted more than a few millimetres, he flinched and closed his mouth again, tearing up at the pain the movement had brought. Namjoon’s heart went out to their maknae, but he couldn’t help the annoyance that they could have fixed this a lot faster if Jeongguk had just told them in the first place the night before that he was still hurting.
“Hyung,” Namjoon said to Seokjin, “Could you get him to the couch with an ice pack while I call Sejin? We need to get him seen.”
Jeongguk opened his mouth to protest, but didn’t get too far before flinching again, his point immediately destroyed while Seokjin lead his shaking form to the couch and pushed him down. Within moments, Hoseok and Yoongi had joined Jeongguk there, not even needing to ask to know something was going on and immediately crowding their maknae to form a protective comfort bubble.
The phone call with their manager was short and sweet, Namjoon giving small but specific details of Jeongguk’s condition and Sejin confirming he was making Jeongguk an emergency dentist appointment and cancelling everyone’s schedules for the day, which thankfully was only a post-tour wind down dance practice. It was only a few minutes later that Namjoon got a confirmation text from Sejin that the appointment had been made and the manager was already on his way to pick Jeongguk up for it. Now all that was left was to tell the Maknae.
It didn’t go well.
“But I don’t need the dentist,” Jeongguk complained, his words a little slurred from the swelling in his face. “I’m fine.”
“Oh yeah,” Yoongi said while rolling his eyes. “So fine that you can’t even talk properly right now.”
“I really don’t need the dentist, hyung, really.”
Namjoon just shook his head, not accepting the arguments. “You can’t keep ignoring it in hope it will go away or it will just get worse. We’ve already spoken to you about hiding when you don’t feel well, you keep just proving our point.”
Jeongguk huffed and crossed his arms, but didn’t argue any more.
Half an hour later, Sejin had arrived and was piling Jeongguk into the car, stopping Namjoon as the leader tried to get in with him.
“It’s best to stay here for now,” Their manager reasoned when Namjoon tried to argue. “Just until we know what’s going on. If he needs one of you with him or its something really bad, I’ll let you know. Okay?”
Namjoon wasn’t entirely happy about the plan, but agreed anyway, stepping back away as the door closed, leaving Jeongguk in the car alone. “Just… make sure he’s alright for us, okay, hyung? He really didn’t want to go, you know what he’s like with the dentist. He hates it there.”
“I know, don’t worry. I’ll look after him.” Sejin gave Namjoon a reassuring smile before getting in the car himself and pulling off with Jeongguk, leaving Namjoon stood on the pavement, worried and annoyed.
He didn’t know if he was more annoyed at Jeongguk for hiding not being well from them again, at himself for not noticing how bad it was getting sooner, or at the situation itself. Jeongguk would already be run down from all the travelling and performances, it was no wonder he’d managed to do something to himself.
He was also conflicted about the day itself now, what had started as a day with a schedule had now become a day that was completely free for all of them, but it was hard to want to enjoy it when their youngest was at an emergency appointment.
Sat back inside the dorm, Namjoon watched whatever cartoon Jimin and Taehyung had on with the other members of the hyung line, but he couldn’t focus on the bright colours on the screen, constantly checking his phone for updates on their youngest.
They’d only gotten about two episodes in before a text came through from their manager.
From: Sejin
To: Namjoon
Message: Abscessed wisdom tooth, its pretty badly infected. He’s having it removed as an emergency today.
It didn’t take long for Namjoon to get his shoes and his jacket on, already having called an uber to take him to the surgery he knew Jeongguk would be at. The others started getting ready to follow, but the leader quickly stopped them in their tracks.
“Sorry guys, I’d prefer it if just I went.” He told them. “He’s going to be pretty overwhelmed without everyone crowding him.”
“That’s not fair, we’re all worried.” Jimin bit back, but there was more worry than malice in his tone.
“I know, which is why you need to stay here and get stuff ready for him coming back. Jin-hyung, can you go to the store and get some pudding cups and just…soft food for him? Jimin and Tae, you’re on comfort zone duty. He’s going to be sore and dazed when he gets back, make a pillow and blanket nest for him to rest in on the couch so he feels comfortable and protected. Hobi-hyung, start looking at some fun, quiet stuff for him to do to keep him distracted, something not too involved so if he keeps dozing off it won’t ruin anything. Yoongi-hyung, ca-”
Yoongi immediately cut the older off. “I’m coming with you.”
Namjoon sighed, starting to reply that the other couldn’t, that he had to stay here, but Namjoon didn’t even get chance to voice it.
“Don’t argue, I’m coming. You won’t be able to handle him on your own after this. The others will have this here, I’ll help you with Gguk, you’ll just work yourself into a frenzy if you’re alone.”
“I won’t worry myself into a frenzy.”
Yoongi gave him a look. A look that matched the look of the other four members in the room. Namjoon didn’t bother arguing any more.
Before long, the uber had arrived, and Namjoon was in the back with Yoongi on the way to the dentist. The driver tried to make small talk, but it was obvious enough that the two weren’t in the mood to have a casual conversation, and the driver hadn’t appeared to realise who they were and they didn’t want to open that can of worms either.
But by the time they got to the dental surgery and met Sejin in the waiting room the manager shook his head a little at the two.
“He’s already in surgery. Been in there for about 25 minutes so far.” Sejin informed them, giving a small smile when the two deflated a little. “He was fine. I think he just wants the toothache to go away, and he was a little delirious from the fever, so he wasn’t as anxious as I expected him to be.”
“That’s good at least.” Namjoon sighed, sitting down beside their manager. “I just wish he’d actually tell us sometimes.”
Yoongi shrugged a little, before joining Namjoon. “I can’t say I’m surprised though, he’s always been like this. He’s better than he used to be, but we’re never going to get him to be completely transparent with us with things like this. He’s grown up a lot, but he’s still that shy kid who’s scared of disappointing us somewhere inside all that muscle.”
“I know, but it’s still annoying. We could help him if he’d let us, he can’t help getting sick.”
“I get the annoyance, Joon, really. But it’s just who he is, and we can read him well enough to know when he’s hiding something from us.”
“Not well enough to where it didn’t escalate like this.”
“Even if we had called him out, he wouldn’t have let us help him until he got to this stage anyway. Its pointless being worried and annoyed about it now.”
Namjoon didn’t say anything else, but nodded a little at Yoongi’s words. The older wasn’t wrong. No matter how much they worked with Jeongguk, Namjoon doubted they’d ever get him to the point of admitting something was wrong before he was about to keel over. But there was nothing more they could do about that. From what Jeongguk had said about the time when he lived with his family, he was the same with them too. Never mentioning anything until he was already so sick he couldn’t hide it any longer. It was just the way he was wired.
Didn’t mean it wasn’t really annoying at times.
They sat in a comfortable silence for a while, watching as a kid got lead out from his appointment with a swollen, teary face with a reassuring mom that he was fine, but they still hadn’t heard anything about Jeongguk yet.
Soon, 20 minutes had passed since Namjoon and Yoongi had arrived, and a dentist walked towards them.
“Jeon Jeongguk is out of surgery and recovering now.” The dentist told them with a small smile. “The anaesthetic is wearing off, but he’ll still be under the influence of it for quite a while, probably until tomorrow.” Handing Sejin some leaflets, of which the manager then passed them straight on to Namjoon, he continued. “We’ll supply you with some gauze to change his dressings for the next few days to a week, and a round of antibiotics and painkillers that he’ll have to take. The infection had gotten pretty bad, and we want to reduce the risk of the socket getting infected as much as possible. We’ll bring him out in a few minutes so you can take him home.”
Sejin nodded and thanked the dentist, and the man left a moment later, the manager then turning to look at Namjoon and Yoongi. “Do you think you guys will be okay looking after him until he’s feeling better, or do you want me to stay with you all for a few days?”
Yoongi shook his head before Namjoon managed to find the words to answer. “We’ve got this, you have a family to stay with. We can look after the brat.”
Sejin gave a smile and nodded, nothing else being said on the matter. By the time that short conversation had ended, Namjoon looked up to see Jeongguk being brought out to them in a wheelchair by a nurse. The maknae didn’t look entirely… there. His face was still swollen, bruises beginning to form on his left cheek, and his eyes were glazed over in a drug induced haze.
It didn’t take too long to retrieve Jeongguk from the nurse and get him to the car waiting in the car park, secured in with an ice pack pressed to his left cheek while Yoongi took the wheelchair back to the dentist’s office. Within minutes, they were back on the road towards the dorm, and Jeongguk still hadn’t spoken to them.
Until he did.
“Joon-hyung?” Jeongguk’s words were slurred, even more so than they had been that morning, and his hazy eyes couldn’t quite focus on the leader despite their attempts.
“Yes, Gguk?”
“I love you guys.”
Namjoon’s heart nearly melted out of his chest, and Yoongi on Jeongguk’s other side looked just as moved and amused.
“We love you too, now rest up. You’ve been through the ringer today.”
“Mm.” Jeongguk hummed non-committal, turning a little to look out of the window. Only thirty seconds passed before he’d looked at the two older members again, brow furrowed as he very obviously tried to piece together information. Probably where he was, why he hurt, what had happened that day… he certainly looked confused.
“Joon-hyung?”
“Yeah?”
“Where are we going?”
“Home, Gguk.”
“Oh. I love you guys.”
Namjoon smiled again, reaching over and very carefully ruffling Jeongguk’s hair. “I know, Kid, you just said that.”
“Oh.”
Yoongi laughed a little beside Jeongguk, but didn’t tease the younger despite the fact he probably really wanted to. The maknae would get enough of that from the others in the next few days, probably the two of them included too once Jeongguk was aware enough to appreciate their teasing.
This conversation happened twice more in the drive back to the dorm.
Sejin helped them unload the maknae from the car once they’d gotten back, but didn’t come into the dorm with them, allowing Namjoon and Yoongi to half carry, half drag him inside and unloaded him onto the couch pillow fort that the two others in the maknae line had prepared. Honestly, Namjoon was impressed with what the rest of the group had put together in the time they’d been away. There was jelly pots, pudding cups and cool tea laid out on the coffee table by the couch, probably courtesy of Seokjin. Hoseok already had Spirited Away loaded up on the TV, paused at the opening frame, and Jimin and Taehyung had worked wonders on the comfort couch.
The second they’d gotten Jeongguk resting and laying down, wrapped in blankets, Namjoon and Yoongi were dealing with a barrage of questions from the other members.
“Is he alright?”
“How did it go?”
“Will he be okay soon?”
“Was it really bad?”
“How can we look after him?”
“How aware is he?”
“Is he like those videos of people after the dentist right now?”
“His cheek looks really squishy.”
“Can we poke him?”
“Guys,” Namjoon said with a laugh, immediately silencing the questions. “He’ll be fine, it was just a bad abscess. He’s okay, just doped up on anaesthetic. It went fine, it was really fast. We have some after care we’ll probably have to do for him today and tomorrow. He’s very confused and dazed right now, he is probably like those videos of people after the dentist, and no you can’t poke him, he’s sore.”
There were various reactions to Namjoon’s answers, most of them either seeming to be relief or pouting, but no more questions came his way as Yoongi sat next to Jeongguk in the cushion and blanket pile and wrapped an arm around the maknae, as if shielding him from his own pain.
“Yoon-hyung?”
“Yeah, Gguk?”
“I love you guys.”
Yoongi gave a small laugh. “We know. We love you too.”
“That was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.” Hoseok said as he sat down on the floor, and Namjoon nodded a little.
“He’s been saying it a lot on the way back, I think he keeps forgetting he’s told us, and it’s very important to him that we know.”
“That’s so cute it hurts.”
Seokjin smiled a little, heading towards the kitchen. “There’s soft foods there for Gguk, we have chicken almost ready now.”
Almost as soon as Seokjin finished talking, Jeongguk had teared up and was trying to get away from Yoongi, but the currently stronger wrapper was no match for the weakened, high Jeongguk.
“What’s up, kid?”
“I want chicken too.”
“You can’t have chicken too, you’re sore. You have pudding cups.”
“But you guys aren’t having pudding cups.”
“Do you want us to have pudding cups?”
Jeongguk thought for a second, before giving a nod, stopping with a wince as the movement flared pain in his gum.
Yoongi sighed a little. “Sorry guys, looks like the chicken will have to wait. Our little boss here wants us all to eat the same thing.”
Seokjin didn’t argue, going to get the chicken before it burned, but not returning with any and instead grabbing a pudding cup and a small plastic spoon.
“Wait,” Jimin said, another bright smile breaking out on his face. “Does this mean we get dessert for dinner?”
“Just this once.” Seokjin confirmed, but he was smiling too, so they all knew it would probably happen for as long as Jeongguk wanted it to.
“Jinnie-hyung?”
Seokjin looked over at the younger’s voice, but he didn’t miss the fact Hoseok immediately got his phone out and started recording their maknae. “Yeah, Gguk?”
“I love you guys.”
“I know, we love you too.”
If Hoseok uploaded the video to their twitter account, Jeongguk didn’t know about it until the next day.
