Yoongi sat in front of his computer. He was getting ready for a live session with fans. But this was going to be more than having an interaction with ARMY. With the group’s blessing, Yoongi has summed up the courage to speak about an issue that has been bothering him for quite a long time. He looked at the screen and took a deep breath before he began the session. ARMY began pouring into the live chat.
There was some nervousness going on with Yoongi but at the same time, this was something that he felt like that needed to be done. For himself. Yoongi waved and began to talk to the fans for a bit before bringing it up for a bit. All of a sudden, Yoongi got serious with ARMY. He wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out but it will be a huge relief for him. Hopefully, it will be.
“I just want to get serious for a few minutes about something. Some of you may support it and some of you may not but honestly, for the ones that may not, I really do not care.” Yoongi began. The chat was starting to pour in with questions about what he wanted to talk about. Again, Yoongi took another deep breath before he spoke again.
“For a while now, I have been questioning myself about things. About myself and who I am. Though, it goes all the way back to when I was a child but even more recently, it has been bothering me. A lot of people always questioned my sexuality. Well, for the ones who are curious, I am about to tell you.” Yoongi added to his previous statement. Yoongi was in too deep to stop. He had to keep going. Yoongi needed to tell the world that he is not going to hide who he is anymore.
Yoongi began to speak once again. From his heart.
“As a child, I knew that I was different. I was different from the rest of the kids I was around and went to school with. I was 5 when I noticed but didn’t really understand it until a couple of years later. I started to realize that I had crushes on girls...and boys. At first, I wasn’t sure if this was something normal. I was told it wasn’t but still, I did not think that it was a bad thing. When I was around 12 years old, my crushes on boys got even stronger. I mean, I still liked girls but I began to notice that I also truly like guys, too. But it wasn’t because of their gender. It was because of their personalities and such.” Yoongi started to explain and tell the fans.
Yoongi took a quick break before he continued to speak with ARMY once again. This was taking a lot out of him but the more he spoke about this, the more free that he was feeling, too.
“What I am saying is that I am not straight..but..I am not exactly bisexual either. Because like I said, it is more about atmosphere and personality for when it comes to attraction than the person’s gender for me. I never could really figure out what I was until Namjoon found something and showed it to me. It was a pride glad but it wasn’t rainbow. It was three colors. Pink, yellow and blue. And underneath that was the word “pansexuality”. When I looked it up, it fit me perfectly. I even said to myself when I saw it that this was me. This is who I am. Pansexuality is more than just about men and women. It is about all genders and such. So, what I am trying to say is that I am not straight, I am not bisexual..I am pansexual. And also, I just wanted to be more honest about myself with people and doing this feels like a release. A release that it took a lot of courage to do but after now saying it...I feel more happier and free. I am not going to apologize for it either. I am me and that’s all I am going to be. No one should ever have to feel like they should have to hide who they are. If someone can not accept then you don’t need them in your life. But I understand in certain situations, it is not possible for you to be out. Even if you can’t come out, you’re still valid, no matter what. And this is what I want to be serious about. Be serious about myself.” Yoongi finished saying to ARMY.
This was not for fame. This was Yoongi to be able to not have to hide himself from anyone anymore. As soon as Yoongi finished saying all of this, comments and such began to fill the screen. More positive than negative. But there was one question that popped up on the screen that made Yoongi want to answer.
“Yes. I do have someone that I am seeing. I know this may be a surprise to all of you but I am now with someone. And he is truly wonderful.” Yoongi said with a smile on his face. Usually, idols want to keep that stuff private but for Yoongi, he wanted to share with the world that he was not only queer but also in love, too. There was no way that he was going to break up with his lover either if people try to make them. Yoongi didn’t care. He was truly happy. On cloud nine in fact.
The live chat went on for another hour before Yoongi finally ended it. He leaned back in the chair and let out a breath before he heard a knock on the door.
“Hyung?” A voice spoke from the other side. It was Taehyung’s voice.
“Come on in.” Yoongi answered. The door opened and Taehyung walked into the room and shut the door behind him. He walked over to Taehyung and the two of them looked at each other.
“How did it go?” Taehyung asked him. Yoongi smiled.
“It went well actually. I was surprised how many people were supportive of me coming out.” Yoongi replied to him.
“That’s good. ...How are you going to feel when this comes out in the news and such?” Taehyung spoke and then asked another question to his hyung. Yoongi shrugged.
“I am not going to fight it. If it comes out in the news then it comes out. I am tired of hiding who I am and if people can’t accept it, I don’t give a fuck. As far as my boyfriend goes, I am not going to leave him either if this happens. I am in love and happy and it is not going to stop my career. ...How do you feel about me being pansexual?” Yoongi explained and then asked Taehyung a question this time. Taehyung smiled.
“I just want you to be happy and yourself, too, hyung. I am glad that everything worked out for you. We are all happy for you.” Taehyung answered him.
“Thanks, Taehyung. I am so glad to. Be a part of this group. You all are like family to me.” Yoongi told him.
“Same here, hyung. Same here.” Taehyung said to him. The two of them spoke for a little bit more before heading out of the room together. Tonight was both interesting and wonderful for Yoongi. But whatever was going to happen after this, he was not going to back down, no matter what happens. Yoongi was finally free. Free and happy to be who he is.
