Chapter Text
All Hawks could hear other than his own breathing was the rain outside. Thank god he got a day off today, he hated flying in the rain. It wasn't hard, it was just a pain in the ass.
But he was bored. And lonely. Well, he was always lonely. He lived alone, and the only person he could count as a "friend" was Miruko, but they barely hang out or talk.
He has always wondered what it's like to have friends. To have people that care about him. To have people that see him as Keigo Takami. Not Hawks. These thoughts always led to crying in bed for hours. Even if he did have friends, family, anyone. It'd be too dangerous. For him, and for them. The hero commision used Hawks as their own little soldier. And they wouldn't hesitate to get rid of anyone who would try and take their little soldier away to live a normal life. He just wanted one normal day, no villains, no hero work, no phone calls. Sometimes he wished he didn't have his wings, because when you think of Hawks, you think of his beautiful vermillion wings. If he didn't have them, maybe he'd have a normal life. Where he could have friends, and who knows... maybe even a significant other. Someone to call his own. Someone to love. Someone to protect.
The winged hero sighed, pulling his blanket over his head, his wings curling around him. Then he heard a faint ringing of his phone. He didn't bother to get up and get it, just sent one of his feathers out to the living room to retrieve it. Once the feather was back with his phone, he took his phone and looked at the caller ID.
Unknown Number
He wasn't used to getting random calls like this, he always knew who was calling him. He just raised a brow, answering the call and putting his phone against his ear. "Hello?" he said, confused, his voice soft and slightly scratchy. "Kira this you? Oh wait shit- fuck! wrong number I'm so so sorry!" He heard a female voice say, he just chuckled softly. Now he definitely wasn't expecting this. "It's Fine, miss. Mistakes happen." He replied.
He heard a sigh come from the other line. "I don't know how I could call some random stranger like that, oh god- Again I'm so sorry! I'll just hang up now!"
"Wait-" He quickly said. Why did i say that? He thought to himself. It was silent on both sides. He was frozen in place. "I don't know why I said that...Sorry." He mumbled, suddenly sounding sad. Wait, was he crying? He hasn't talked to someone in forever. Other then interviews and with fans. It felt almost nice to hear a voice that wasn't begging for an autograph. "Sir..? Are you Okay?" The person on the other line said, concerned. They could hear the almost silent cries of the other.
Those words broke him, his cries turned to sobs. He cursed under his breath, trying to wipe the tears away with his free hand. "Fuck... Sorry I'm Fine- Just, Ugh..." He said softly, his sobs almost hiding the words away. "I can tell your not okay... Want to talk about it? Hold on, I forgot, we're sill strangers. I'm (Y/N) (L/N)." The person giggled, making Hawks smile just a tiny bit. He wanted to say his name, but should he? Should he say his hero name or real name? If he said that he was a pro hero would this person think differently of him? He shook out of his thoughts.
"Keigo Takami..." He choked out, his sobs almost taking over, again. "There! Now we aren't strangers anymore! Now uh... Do you want to tell me what's wrong?" The female asked, obviously worried.
"I don't r-really know- It's just been so long since I've talked to someone.." Hawks mumbled, waiting for a response. "Well, that make sense actually, usually people who are touch starved or barely interact with people, tend to get emotional from the simplest of conversations." The other said, a gentle tone. "I can stay on call for as long as you like, if that'd help...We can just chat about whatever you want..!" The female then said, their tone suddenly higher. Hawks smiled, his sobs going away.
"Yeah, I'd like that..."
Three hours later, the two were still talking. It felt nice. Talking to someone who didn't use him for fame. Who saw him as Keigo. The current topic of conversation right now? What the world would be like if there was no chicken.
"I'm telling you! The world can live without chicken, Takami!" the female laughed, thinking his beliefs are hilarious. "Nu-uh! Chicken is amazing! Unless your a vegetarian you wouldn't be able to live without it! Especially chicken nuggets!" he laughed back. He was now sitting with his legs crossed on his bed. His phone on speaker in front of him. He hasn't had this much fun in forever. He felt so happy.
"Chicken nuggets?! Oh my god Takami! What are you? Five?" You giggled from the other line. "Hey! It's not my fault it was the only good kind of food I was given while growing up! Those small golden pieces of deliciousness are my life!" Hawks said, having the best time of his life. "Oh god... I wouldn't be surprised if you bought a whole store full of 'em.." You said jokingly.
"Is that a challenge, sweetheart?" he smirked, a bit of sarcasm in his tone. "N-no! You idiot if your serious-"
"I was kidding! As much as I would enjoy that, I can't." He chuckled, his feathers puffing up from how happy he was. "Shit- It's getting late and I should call my co-worker before she rips my head off tomorrow..." You sighed from the other line before continuing. "How about we call again tomorrow? I like talking to you, Takami." Hawks' head perked up from that.
"I like talking to you too, (L/N). So yeah, that sounds nice. we could do that," He replied happily. "It's a plan then! Bye Bye Takami!"
"Bye, (L/N)!" And just like that, the call ended. And Hawks had the biggest smile.
Maybe he wouldn't be so lonely anymore...
