“She’s known me a long time.” He said with a shrug, “She’s right though. You shouldn’t be here with me. You shouldn’t be anywhere near me.” He said, not taking his eyes off of me anymore, “I told you to leave me alone, Bill.” His tone was as calm and almost monotone as it was every other time he had spoken to me. “Hailey did have every right to be worried.”
“Worried about what? I’m not going to hurt you, Tom.”
Tom laughed a little sadly, shaking his head and taking a drink again, “She’s not worried about me, Bill. She’s worried about you.”
