Work Text:

"Aw no-fucking-way, come on." Tomura nearly presses his pinky into the controller out of spite, but he refrains, too lazy to find another one. And he does want to keep playing.

"Serves you right, talking shit." Spinner says gleefully, shoving more chips into his mouth.

"Good to see you still suck at racing games." He says through chewing.

Tomura growls, gripping the controller. "Two out of three."

Spinner smirks, his sharp teeth peeking through his lips. He licks them, picking up the crumbs off his scales with his stupid long tongue. He picks up his controller. "Alright, but don't make excuses when I beat you again."

Tomura scowls, tapping the buttons impatiently. His prosthetics make a clicking sound against the plastic. "Just hurry up."

Tomura flips through the game menu quickly, reusing familiar settings.

This is nice. He thinks, glancing at Spinner.

What a strange thought.

But he did miss it.

He missed all of it.

He's different now. Spinner is different now. Looking at him different.

Tomura has yet to make up his mind if he likes it or not.

The menu is loading slowly, and he finds himself glancing back again.

Spinner is already looking his way, and he startles, as though caught doing something. Staring or whatever, Tomura guesses.

"Something you wanna say, Spinner." Tomura says.

Spinner makes a strange noise. "N-no not….not really…"

He bites his lip and Tomura exhales. "You can say whatever you want, Spinner. You must know that by now."

Spinner seems like he's about to think better of it, but instead he says. "It's nothing, I just...didn't think you'd have time for this shit anymore is all."

"Why wouldn't I." Tomura says, staring at the screen as though that will make it load faster.

He throws his gaze back at Spinner, who is clutching his controller in front of him, his eyes shifted to the floor. "Well you've got a lot of. Stuff. Now."

"I guess." Tomura says, picking a stray bit of chip out of his teeth with his fingernail.

The loading screen blinks its little animation, basic explanations of the gameplay popping up.

"Well," Spinner says finally. "I dunno. I guess I thought maybe...maybe you didn't want to do this stuff anymore." His gaze flickers to Tomura and back. "With me."

Tomura snorts. "Well you're my friend, right."

Spinner seems flustered again. "Y-y...yeah?"

Tomura looks at him. "Aren't we friends?"

Spinner drives a perfect fang into his bottom lip. "Well I mean...it's just that you're uh...you're the boss now, right? Leading this…" He gestures vaguely. "Whole army thing and stuff."

Tomura snorts. "Is that important."

"You're important." Spinner says suddenly.

"Haven't I always been?" Tomura grabs the bag of chips from beside Spinner and stuffs a few into his mouth.

As he's chewing, he looks back at Spinner. His head is lowered again, as though he's said something wrong.

"Why do you think I care what these losers think anyway, hrm?" Tomura pushes a chip between his teeth. "They're nothing compared to you. Or any of the League."

Spinner is quiet for a while.

The game finally loaded, and the music is playing, prompting them to pick a track to race on.

"Which one do you want, Spinner? I don't care." Tomura's not about to let Spinner think he can't beat him at his favorite track.

Spinner says nothing.

Tomura grumbles, bouncing the controller. "Spinner, what do you want?"

He turns back to Spinner, his nose nearly bumping into his.

"I…" Spinner says, his voice almost too soft to hear. "I uh…" he looks away, his claws digging into his leg.

"Spinner." Tomura says. "Make a decision." He leans in, until they're practically touching. "Before I make one for you."

Spinner gulps audibly, a jolt running through his body.

Tomura lets the controller fall into his lap.

He brings his hand around the collar of Spinner's hoodie, pulling him closer.

He mashes his lips into Spinner's, who makes an almost comical squeak of surprise. Through hooded eyelids, Tomura watches Spinner's flutter, as he presses his lips into Tomura's.

Tomura pushes his tongue into Spinner's mouth, because that's what you do, right? That's what all the mangas and tv shows say.

Spinner makes another shocked sound but he quickly lets Tomura's tongue swipe across his, and returns the favor.

Tomura isn't sure what else a kiss is supposed to consist of, so he lets up, staring into Spinner's eyes.

"Did I get it right? What you wanted to say?"

Spinner nods.

Tomura presses his forehead into Spinner's. "Did you think I didn't like you back?"

"Well…" Spinner mumbles. "Maybe...it just…I didn't…"

Tomura exhales through his nose. "I'm lucky you know. To have you. To have...all of you, sure...but..." He looks up at Spinner. "To have. You."

He snorts softly, brushing two fingers through Spinner's hair. "What kind of idiot would I be if I didn't want you."

Spinner looks like his brain is stalling.

Tomura wonders idly if he should tell him he's his first kiss. That he never thought he'd have one. That anyone would want anything to do with him at all.

That he's glad his first was with Spinner.

"Spinner." He says.

"Yeah?" Spinner says, breathlessly.

Tomura holds up the controller. "Are you gonna pick a track or what?"

Spinner stutters. "Oh, y-yeah...yeah…"

Tomura repositions himself, watching Spinner pick up his own controller from the corner of his eye.

"Don't think this means I'll let you win." Tomura says, scrolling through the tracks.

He glances back at Spinner, whose mouth spreads into a grin. "Don't think I'll do the same."
