pistachio ice cream

Summary:

Despite his hard exterior, Hoseok is sure that Min Yoongi isn’t all that he seems to be at first glance. No; he’s positive that the somewhat intimidating man takes after the ice cream flavor that he orders every time he comes into the shop—pistachio—more than he’d like to admit.

Work Text:

“Isn’t he the cutest?” Hoseok nods towards the man at a table across the ice cream shop.

“Min Yoongi? Cute?” Namjoon scoffs, “That’s the same man who threw a shoe at me last semester when we were partners for a group project!”

“I know,” Hoseok lets out a dreamy sigh as he props up his chin using the palm of his hand, elbow resting on the chilly counter before him. “He’s adorable.”

“You’re crazy, Hobi.”

“He’s crazy in loooooveee~” Taehyung pipes up from behind the pair standing at the register, his fingertips wiggling dramatically as he quirks up an eyebrow.

“I hate it here.”

“Hey! You didn’t deny it!” Taehyung cheers, “We’re finally getting somewhere with this hopeless crush of yours.”

Hoseok shoots his coworker a glare before shifting his gaze back over to the object of their conversation. Fluffy black hair hangs down like a curtain across Min Yoongi’s forehead, his soft lips jutted out in a slight pout as he stares down at the phone in his hand. A jet black button-up shirt is tucked into his equally black pants, the dark color directly contrasting his creamy pale skin. Dozens of bracelets adorn his slim wrists—the cherry on top for Hobi.

But despite his hard exterior, Hoseok is sure that Min Yoongi isn’t all that he seems to be at first glance. No; he’s positive that the somewhat intimidating man takes after the ice cream flavor that he orders every time he comes into the shop—pistachio—more than he’d like to admit.

Hard on the outside, soft on the inside.

“Uh, excuse me…”

A velvety voice startles Hoseok out of his daydreams, the deep timbre of it shaking the ice cream shop worker to his very core. Standing before him is none other than Min Yoongi, the man who’s managed to capture his heart without having to do a damn thing.

“Could I get a spoon?”

Hobi blinks. “It’ll cost you extra.”

Yoongi’s eyebrows raise incrementally as his lips part in surprise. “R-Really? You’re gonna charge me? For a spoon?”

“We’re trying to reduce our plastic waste. Save the turtles, man.” Hobi shrugs, trying to hide the smile threatening to break out on his face.

“You know that campaigns like reusable straws are just ploys to pin the blame on the everyday consumer when in reality a select few large corporations are responsible for the majority of the plastic pollution and global emissions threatening our environment?”

“I… uh…” Hoseok gulps, “I was kidding… about the extra charge thing…”

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

The silence weighs heavily over the cash register for a few moments, Hoseok internally screaming about how cute Yoongi is while the latter blushes in embarrassment.

“Could… could I still get a spoon?” Yoongi asks bashfully while rubbing the back of his neck. Hoseok breaks out into a grin, unknowingly causing Yoongi’s cheeks to heat up that much more.

“Of course,” he assures him, reaching into a drawer below him to grab a spoon before handing the small piece of plastic to the man across the counter, “Sorry about the… uh… confusion.”

“It’s okay,” Yoongi smiles before taking the spoon and heading back to his seat. Hoseok tries his best not to melt into a puddle on the floor at the sight of his adorable gummy grin.

“So when’s the wedding?” Taehyung elbows Hoseok, a boxy grin plastered to his face as his eyes dart back and forth between him and Yoongi.

“Shut up.”

“So, did you finally ask out that guy from the ice cream shop today?” Seokjin asks excitedly, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

Yoongi shakes his head. “No.”

The older man lets out a long and tortuous groan, allowing his body to slip down in his seat until only his eyes are visible above the edge of Yoongi’s kitchen table. “Why not? I thought we talked about this!”

You talked about it with Jimin,” Yoongi corrects him, “I sat here and ignored you like I always do.”

“Wha—show a little respect, you ungrateful brat!” Seokjin protests, ignoring the laughter coming from Jimin beside him, “We spent hours coming up with a foolproof plan so you could stop whining about the hopeless crush you have on this Hoschmeok guy. You know we love you, but hearing you go on and on and on about how pretty his smile is and how—”

“His name is Hoseok,” Yoongi murmurs.

“Wh—Did you even listen to a word I said?” Seokjin complains loudly.

“Not really.”

“That’s it.” The eldest man in the room stands up dramatically, causing his two companions to cringe at the squeak of the chair against the kitchen tile. “I’m going with you to the shop.”

“Hyung, we’ve talked about this. You are not coming with me.”

“Unfortunately, you’ve lost your privilege to have an opinion regarding this situation from here on out. I’m coming with you tomorrow whether you like it or not. You need a wingman.”

Yoongi groans. “Don’t fuck this up for me.”

“I can’t fuck it up more than you already have for yourself, Mr. ‘Major corporations are responsible for most of the—’”

“Hey!” Yoongi darts over to slap a hand over Seokjin’s mouth, effectively stopping his sentence mid-way through, “I told you that in confidence!”

Seokjin sticks his tongue out to lick the palm of Yoongi’s hand, laughing when the younger man jumps away with a yelp. “Sorry, but I don’t remember signing an NDA. Everything you have told me in the past and are going to tell me in the future will, unfortunately, be relayed to Jimin.”

Yoongi spins on his heel and points at Jimin with a warning glint in his eye. “You’d better tell him to leave me and my unrequited crush alone, Park, or there’s no telling what I might do.”

“That bad boy act stopped working on me when we watched Moana together and you cried for two hours straight,” Jimin argues, leaning back in his seat with a smile. “You can’t make me do anything. Besides, I think it’s a great idea.”

“Yay!” Seokjin cheers as he gives Jimin a high-five, “Operation ‘Get Yoongi Some Dick’ is officially underway. I’d like to thank my mother for giving me my gorgeous face, as well as my friend Park Jimin for supporting me every step of the way…”

“I’m leaving.”

“Yoongi, this is your apartment—”

“Bye.”

“Is that him?”

“Shut up.”

“He’s totally your type.”

“I said, shut up.

“You know, I always knew you had a thing for guys who worked in ice cream shops—”

“I am going to stab you with a spoon if you do not shut your mouth right this second, old man,” Yoongi threatens under his breath, trying to keep his voice low enough so Hoseok won’t be able to hear from where he’s scooping their ice cream a few feet away. Jin winks and mimics zipping his lips before throwing away the invisible key.

“Here you go!”

Hobi’s smile is blindingly bright as he hands Yoongi and Seokjin their cones. At this point, Yoongi is considering buying a pair of sunglasses just to protect him from the sunshine that is Jung Hoseok.

“Thank you,” Yoongi says calmly, his soft smile faltering when Jin speaks up from beside him.

“Yes, thank you very much. We’re very grateful for your excellent customer service, Yoongi especially. He’s told me time and time again about how great you are at scooping his ice cream—” Jin cuts off with a yelp when Yoongi stomps on his foot, showing his gummy smile to the slightly confused man across the counter once more in thanks before dragging his friend over to an empty table.

“I hate you.”

“No, you don’t~” Jin sing-songs, slipping a spoonful of chocolate ice cream between his lips before smacking loudly in satisfaction. “You’re just angry that I’m better at flirting than you.”

That’s what that was supposed to be?” Yoongi marvels, “Oh my god. I’m so fucked.”

“Hey! Don’t be so judgemental,” Seokjin laments, “I’m just trying to help you out.”

“Well, you aren’t doing a very good job.”

“That’s because I haven’t worked my magic yet.”

Yoongi grumbles into a bite of his pistachio ice cream. “Whatever.”

“Okay, how about this,” Seokjin proposes, “I’ll be quiet if you go and ask him out by the time we leave. If not, I’m taking matters into my own hands.”

The younger man shudders at the mere thought of Seokjin attempting to intervene in the situation. “Fine.”

Seokjin beams proudly. “I knew you had it in you!” He reaches over and claps Yoongi’s shoulder a few times, Yoongi doing his best to remain stoic as he’s jostled around by the larger man. “Okay, here’s what you’re going to do: First, walk up to the counter…”

        ***

“Do you think that’s his boyfriend?” Hoseok murmurs to Namjoon as he stares at the pair sitting together at a table across the shop.

“I hope not,” Namjoon replies, crossing his arms, “I have my eye on prince charming over there.”

Hoseok turns to look at his friend-slash-manager with a look of mild disgust. “Please, never say that again.”

“Why not? His face fits the role, and those shoulders… I’m telling you, things I would do to—”

“Okay, okay, I get it!” Hoseok shrieks and covers his ears, “I don’t need to hear about that, Namjoon.”

Namjoon shrugs. “What, you’re allowed to go on and on about how adorable Yoongi is and I can’t comment on his hot friend? The volume in this bus is astronomical.

“Didn’t I tell you to stop quoting TikToks, Joon-hyung?” Namjoon and Hoseok jump in fright when Taehyung materializes out of thin air between them. “You’re too old for that.”

“Watch your mouth,” Namjoon points an accusing finger at the younger man, “I’ll fire you. Don’t make me do it, kid.”

Taehyung sticks his tongue out at his manager teasingly, yelping and jumping out of the way when Namjoon lunges forward. Unsurprisingly, the sudden movement causes Namjoon to trip over his own feet, hands grabbing nothing but air as both Hoseok and Taehyung sidestep out of the falling man’s way. His ass hits the tile with a loud smack, the laughter of the coworkers drowning out the moans and groans coming from their friend on the floor.

“Is this a bad time?”

Hoseok’s head snaps to the left, eyes widening when he sees his favorite customer standing across the counter—looking severely uncomfortable, at that.

“No, not at all!” He frantically reassures the man over the sound of Taehyung’s still-booming laughter and Namjoon’s cries of pain and suffering, “What can I do for you? Need another spoon?”

“Actually, no. I-I was wondering, if, uh,” Yoongi scratches the back of his neck awkwardly—an endearing habit that Hoseok fights the urge to coo at, “If you… maybe… wanted to…” He trails off nervously, gaze trained on the counter before him as his cheeks flush a furious red.

“If I wanted to…” Hoseok offers with a smile as he tries to ignore the way his heart is beating a million times a minute. Is Yoongi trying to ask him on a date?

“If you wanted to… to…” Yoongi gulps, “To… uh… tell me where the bathroom is?” He says the last part of the sentence so quickly that Hoseok almost doesn’t catch it.

“O-Oh,” Hoseok blinks, trying to ignore the disappointment settling in his chest, “It’s, uh, down that hallway and to the right.”

“T-Thanks.” Yoongi nods awkwardly before scurrying off in the direction that Hoseok pointed at.

The ice cream shop worker’s shoulders slump in defeat once Yoong is out of sight, a small frown occupying his face. He really shouldn’t feel as disappointed as he does; after all, he and Yoongi have never had an exchange that exceeded more than casual small talk, and he’s never indicated that he’s even remotely interested in the man who serves him ice cream.

Not only that, but Hoseok has a sinking feeling that even if Yoongi was interested in him, he’d never actually do anything about it. Yoongi just seems like that kind of person.

But Hoseok isn’t.

When Hoseok wants something, he does everything in his power to get it. To be fair, this mentality seems to fall apart at the seams when Yoongi makes direct eye contact with him—Hoseok would’ve asked him out a long time ago if that weren’t the case—but that doesn’t mean Hoseok isn’t willing to take a few risks.

Which is why he’s currently walking over to where Yoongi’s maybe-boyfriend is sitting alone at the table in the corner.

“Excuse me,” Hoseok announces his presence with an awkward wave. A few of his nerves fade away when he’s met with a warm smile in greeting. “I’m sorry if this is a bit invasive, but are you and Yoongi… uh… together?”

The man at the table bursts into squeaky laughter, his shoulder shaking with the force of it. “Definitely not. Why, are you interested?”

Hoseok exhales a sigh of relief. “Just a little bit.”

“He’s very interested!” Taehyung shouts from somewhere across the small shop. Hoseok flushes pink while the man grins knowingly.

“Here,” he pulls out a napkin and begins to scribble on it with a pen from his pocket, “You can find him at this time and place. Please get his number—maybe even ask him out. His pining ass has been making everyone miserable for the past few weeks.”

“O-Okay,” Hoseok takes the napkin, inspecting the inked letters scrawling across the material before slipping it into his pocket. “Thank you…”

“Seokjin,” he offers, gaze flickering over to where Namjoon is standing behind the counter. “Before you go—could you do me a favor and send tall, dark, and handsome my way?”

Hoseok grins. “Yeah, of course.”

“Where the hell are you?” Yoongi whisper-yells into the phone, “The movie starts in five fucking minutes. And I’m standing outside the theater. Alone.”

“I told you I’m sorry!” Seokjin gulps, “I just had to, uh, water my plants.”

“You don’t have any plants.”

“How do you know that?”

Yoongi rolls his eyes. “I was at your apartment last night, Jin. Plus, do you really expect me to believe you could keep anything alive for longer than a week?”

He can hear Jin scoff over the line. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. You won’t be alone for very long, so calm down a bit, okay?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Yoongi asks, shifting the phone to be pressed against his other ear, “Is Jimin coming too?”

“Nope! I’m busy watching New Girl,” Jimin’s voice pipes up from somewhere in the background of Jin’s call.

“Then who—” Yoongi starts, only to freeze in place when his name is called from a few feet away.

“Yoongi?” Hoseok’s hand is half-raised in a small wave, a lopsided grin lighting up his face. He’s wearing a pair of light wash skinny jeans and chunky, colorful sneakers, the soft white t-shirt hanging off of his frame tucked stylishly into his jeans. If Yoongi thought Hoseok looked gorgeous in uniform, nothing could’ve prepared him for how good he looks in street attire.

“H-Hoseok?” Yoongi stammers, fumbling to hang up on Seokjin without looking at his phone. “What’re you doing here?”

The heart-shaped smile on the man’s face falters at the question. “I, uh, thought you knew I was coming.”

Yoongi tilts his head in confusion, brow furrowing in thought. He certainly doesn’t remember asking Hoseok to meet him at the movies… unless—

“Seokjin told me to meet you here for a, uh…” Hoseok swallows audibly. “A… a date. I-I’m really sorry; I thought you already knew.”

“A date?” Yoongi gawks.

Hoseok rubs the back of his neck sheepishly, his cheeks flushing a furious red. “Y-Yeah. I guess I misread the situation. I’ll just, uh, go ahead and leave.”

He turns on his heel to make a beeline for his car, but before he can make it even two steps, thin fingers wrap around his wrist to halt his departure. The ice cream shop worker’s heart stutters in his chest, a spark of relief igniting inside of him when Yoongi clears his throat awkwardly.

“Don’t go.”

Hoseok turns to face Yoongi, hope blooming in his chest when he sees the pleading look shining in the shorter man’s eyes. “Really? You mean that?”

“Y-Yeah,” Yoongi exhales, “I do.” A grin lights up Hoseok’s face, the sight sending tingles of warmth down Yoongi’s spine. How could someone possibly be so angelic?

“Thank god. I was really worried that your friend set me up for failure for a second there.”

Yoongi groans. “He’s quite possibly the worst wingman to ever exist.”

“Wingman, huh?” Hoseok grins, “He can’t be that bad. After all, you are on a date now, aren’t you?”

A date. The phrase causes Yoongi’s heart to skip a beat in his chest, a light flush dusting his freckled cheeks. “You may have a point.”

Hoseok flashes him a cheesy grin. “So, what movie are we seeing?” He runs a hand through his hair—wait, is he blonde now? When the hell did that happen, and how did Yoongi not notice earlier?

“U-Uh,” Yoongi stammers, swallowing the lump in his throat with an awkward smile, “Madman, I think.”

Hoseok visibly pales, the easy smile slipping from his face to make room for a nervous frown. “Isn’t that supposed to be, like, really scary?”

“Probably,” Yoongi tries to hide the smile growing on his lips, “Why? Are you scared?”

It’s Hoseok’s turn to gulp now. “J-Just a little. I, uh, don’t do well with… scary things.”

“Well, it’s a good thing that you have me to protect you, isn’t it?” Yoongi isn’t sure where his sudden bout of boldness comes from; all he knows is that the blush on Hoseok’s face is really, really cute.

The previews have already started by the time the two men enter the theater, and Yoongi is thankful that Seokjin had enough forethought to reserve seats in the middle row. When he looks over at where Hoseok is sitting beside him, he tries his best to hold back a giggle at the sight of the younger man nervously shoveling handfuls of buttered popcorn into his mouth, his leg bouncing anxiously as he stares at the screen with wide eyes. All that’s playing on the screen itself is a preview for the newest Pixar animated film, but Hoseok’s mind seems to be elsewhere.

“Hey,” Yoongi murmurs, catching his date’s attention, “We don’t have to see this if you don’t want to, you know.”

Hoseok swallows the popcorn he was chewing in one loud gulp. “I-It’s okay, really. I’m sure that Taehyung and Jungkook would have dragged me out of the house to see this thing at some point anyway. Might as well see it with someone who won’t make fun of me for screaming, right?”

Yoongi lets out a genuine laugh, a feeling of warmth filling his chest. He’s barely spent half an hour with Hoseok tonight, but he already feels like he’s on cloud nine. The latter seems to fill him to the brim with unbridled joy just by existing.

Only a few minutes later, the house lights dim and the eerie theme music begins to trickle through the speakers, the low notes unsettling enough to raise the hair on his arms. He can hear Hoseok inhale sharply from beside him. Before he can say anything, though, Yoongi feels Hoseok wordlessly intertwining his nimble fingers with his own, a silent plea for comfort as the horror film begins to play out before their eyes. Yoongi doesn’t shy away, choosing to give Hoseok’s hand a comforting squeeze instead.

Despite Hoseok’s continuous shrieking and jumping out of sheer terror every few minutes, their hands stay interlocked throughout the entirety of the movie—though by the time the credits are rolling, the armrest between the two men has somehow been raised and Hoseok’s shivering shoulder is pressed firmly against Yoongi’s smaller frame. Yoongi isn’t complaining, though.

He’s never been more in love.

“Look! They’re holding hands!”

Jimin lightly smacks the bicep that he’s currently snuggled up to. “They’re gonna hear you if you don’t lower your voice, Tae! Do you want them to know we’re spying on them?”

“Sorry…” Taehyung murmurs dejectedly, “I just got excited, okay? If they finally make a move, maybe Hoseok will start doing his job instead of making heart eyes at Yoongi for the entirety of his shift.”

Jimin raises his eyebrow at his boyfriend. “And they’ll be happy together, which is the most important thing, right Tae?”

Their discourse is silenced when someone from the row above them shushes them, causing them to lower their baseball caps further over their eyes in unison as they sink down into their seats. Jimin gives Taehyung’s arm a gentle squeeze, pressing a fleeting kiss to his shoulder before settling in to watch the movie—and the two boys on their first date two rows below them.

“Are you sure we’re allowed to be in here?”

Yoongi’s chilly fingers are interlaced with Hoseok’s warm ones as the ladder unlocks the front door to the ice cream shop, his palm softer than Yoongi ever could’ve imagined. Their hands fit together perfectly; almost like they were made for each other.

Hoseok flashes Yoongi a cheesy grin. “Of course we are. Perks of being on the boss’s good side.”

Hoseok realizes that he could technically get in trouble for doing this, but knowing Namjoon, the most he would get is a light scolding. Nobody can resist his puppy dog eyes.

“If you’re sure…” Yoongi trails off, trying to hide the blush that flushes his cheeks when Hoseok gives his hand a gentle squeeze before tugging him inside the shop and flipping on the fluorescent white lights.

“So,” Hoseok begins, “I’m guessing you want the usual?” Yoongi nods and Hoseok hums in acknowledgment, instructing him to wait there while he goes to scoop out some ice cream from the tubs behind the counter. Yoongi misses the warmth of Hobi’s skin against his own as soon as it’s gone.

The two men make small talk as Hoseok piles a few scoops of pistachio ice cream onto a waffle cone, extending his hand across the counter to hand Yoongi the sweet treat before beginning to scoop out his own. Yoongi watches patiently as he does so—and he’s definitely not staring at the way Hoseok’s muscles ripple as he glides the silver scoop through the green ice cream.

“You know,” Hoseok announces as he steps out from behind the counter, a small grin on his face, “My friend Namjoon thinks you’re scary.”

“Namjoon? As in Kim Namjoon?” Yoongi asks with raised eyebrows, “Huh. I wonder why.”

“He said you threw a shoe at him when you were partners for a group project.”

“I did that for motivation,” Yoongi drawls, “I just have some unconventional methods, that’s all.”

Hoseok laughs. “Well, for what it’s worth, I don’t think you’re scary.” He takes a few steps closer to Yoongi, the latter fighting back a blush at the proximity. “Can I tell you something, Yoongi?”

Yoongi gulps, noting the way that Hoseok’s eyes seem to be fixated on his lips. “Y-Yeah.”

The corner of Hoseok’s mouth quirks upwards at the breathlessness of Yoongi’s voice. He can see the way his chest is rising and falling more rapidly, fingers twitching against the waffle cone in his hand.

“You’ve got some ice cream right… here,” Hoseok lifts a free hand to cup Yoongi’s cheek, using the pad of his thumb to wipe away the small smear of green by the corner of his mouth. “There. All gone.”

Yoongi murmurs a small thank you, but Hoseok doesn’t pull away. Instead, he pauses before descending and pressing his lips against Yoongi’s, relishing in the sweet taste of pistachio that lingers on his skin. The kiss is gentle and sweet; weeks of pining and unsaid confessions finally being recognized with the small (yet monumental all the same) action.

When Hoseok finally pulls away, his mouth is curved into a giddy smile and his ice cream is dripping over his hand and onto the floor. But he doesn’t care; all that matters is that he just kissed Min Yoongi.

“Wow.” A heavy blush paints Yoongi’s cheeks, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “That was—”

I said, certified freak

Seven days a week

Hoseok scrambles to pull his phone out of his pocket, frowning when he reads the Contact ID. “It’s… Taehyung?”

Wet ass pussy

Make that pull-out game wea—

Cardi B’s voice cuts off when Hoseok answers the phone with a raised brow. “Hello? Taehyung? I’m kind of in the middle of something right now.”

“YOU FINALLY KISSED YOON— HEY! GET OFF OF ME, JIN, YOU’LL HAVE YOUR TURN NEXT—I SAID GET OFF—AHH!”

Hoseok flinches at the volume of Taehyung’s voice in his ear, yanking the phone away from his face. Seokjin seems to have the phone by the time Hoseok puts him on speaker so Yoongi can hear too.

“Yoongi, my man! I’m so proud of you, finally getting that dick—”

“Are you guys spying on us?” Yoongi interrupts with a glare, turning around to stare accusingly out of the ice cream shop windows. “What the fuck?”

“Um…” Seokjin trails off, his voice three pitches higher when he finally responds. “No?”

Yoongi groans. “You’re insane.”

“I’m just being a good wingman!”

“I’m hanging up now,” Hoseok announces, pressing the end call button before the boys can protest. The two men stare at each other in silence for a few seconds before bursting into laughter, the questionable sanity of their friends enough to dissipate any remaining awkwardness between the pair after their shared kiss.

“I, uh,” Yoongi exhales after their laughter dies down, “I really like you, Hobi. If that wasn’t already clear enough.”

Hoseok grins. “I really like you too."

Pit. Pat. Pit. Pat.

The sound of gentle summer rain patters against the window to the left of where the two men are cuddled up on the couch watching a movie that Taehyung recommended to them.

“Thank you,” Hoseok murmurs into Yoongi’s chest, his words muffled by the soft material of his cotton t-shirt.

Yoongi hums in acknowledgment as his fingers gently glide through Hoseok’s chocolate tresses, fingertips lightly scratching his sensitive scalp. “What’re you thanking me for?”

“I don’t know,” the younger man exhales, “For being you.”

“Ah, I see. I suppose I should say you’re welcome.” Yoongi’s voice is teasing but soft; it holds an underlying fondness that comes straight from his heart.

Hoseok smiles.

He truly is thankful for Yoongi.

Despite the hard exterior that tends to intimidate others upon first glance, Hoseok sees Yoongi for the man he truly is inside. Loving, caring, gentle—everything that he strives to be. Yoongi is his role model and his hero; the anchor keeping him from drifting away when the waters get too rough. He’s wise beyond his years, and even though people like to tell Hoseok that he’s a ray of sunshine, he wholeheartedly believes that Yoongi is the one who shines brighter than the sun.

Seeing Yoongi’s smile is like stepping out into the sunshine on a cool spring day, the warmth of his grin wrapping around Hoseok like a warm blanket. His laugh is contagious on even the darkest of days, and when words of comfort just aren’t enough, his soothing presence quells the raging storm in Hoseok’s heart.

Talking to Yoongi feels like coming home.

When he hears his deep and rumbling voice floating through their shared apartment, that same mixture of butterflies and excitement blooms in his stomach. The adoration and love that Hoseok feels for Yoongi are borderline overwhelming, and despite there being 171,476 words in the dictionary, not a single one is able to truly capture the way that he makes him feel.

He wouldn’t trade Yoongi for the world; Yoongi is his world. If you were to ask Hoseok, he’d tell you that Yoongi practically hung the twinkling stars in the velvety night sky of his heart. Sometimes Yoongi likes to call Hoseok his little star. It’s cheesy, and Hoseok is ninety-nine percent sure that if he told anyone about it, Yoongi would kill him—but it’s distinctly him, and it makes Hoseok’s heart melt every time he hears the nickname fall past Yoongi’s lips.

After all this time, Yoongi still orders pistachio ice cream when he visits Hoseok at the shop, and Hoseok still gives him trouble when he asks for an extra spoon. Some things never change, and his undying love for Yoongi is no different.

No matter how many times he threatens Seokjin or how many shoes he throws at his project partners, Hoseok knows the truth is that Yoongi is just like his favorite ice cream flavor: hard on the outside, soft on the inside.
