Albion was Arthur’s world, and Camelot his compass. He could be blindfolded and set anywhere on the island, and he’d be able to find his way back to the citadel. He couldn’t remember ever learning it, not really. It was in his blood, his heart. He was Albion’s, and it was his.

“I’ll fix it.” Merlin croaks. “I’ll fix everything. We’ll switch places. You’ll be back in Camelot in no time. You’ll see Gwen again. I promise.”
Arthur makes a noise of protest but Merlin shushes him. “I know you don’t trust me anymore but I will make everything right.” Merlin vows.
The sorcerer truly means this, Arthur knows. Sincerity is practically dripping from every word. It’s such a Merlin thing to promise, with that earnest and determined tone. It only scares Arthur more.

A squire choked. The boy stumbled to a grateful halt.
Arthur’s mouth flattened into the princely version of a smile’s shadow. “Do you know who you’re talking to?”
