Tao Xuan: Even though we’re the only team with three championships, Excellent Era has always been looking toward the future. We can’t rest on our past glory. We have to keep growing and changing to keep up with the current Alliance - and I think in the past few seasons we haven’t been proactive enough, which is why our performance has gotten worse each season.
Excellent Era has to keep moving forward. And after consulting with Captain Ye Qiu, we’ve determined that Excellent Era’s future lies in a new direction. Effective yesterday, Ye Qiu was traded to Conquering Clouds in exchange for their captain, the young and promising talent Sun Xiang. Starting in the upcoming season, Sun Xiang will act as our captain and core, using the Battle God One Autumn Leaf. Ye Qiu has asked that we publicly pass on his support and well-wishes toward Excellent Era’s new leader.
We did not make this decision lightly, or without a great deal of soul-searching and discussion. We are grateful to Ye Qiu and all that he has sacrificed for Excellent Era over the years. But time doesn’t stop for anyone, not even Glory’s greatest player. Ye Qiu understands that more than anyone. We are incredibly sad to see Ye Qiu leave us, and I’m sure our fans feel the same. We wish Ye Qiu the best as he finishes out his career

You don’t understand what this means to us older fans. No matter how many years pass, God Ye will always be Glory’s number one to us. Seeing God Ye and Excellent Era part ways? I could never have imagined it. I’m stunned, and incredibly sad.

Yeah, Excellent Era keeps trying to hype Sun Xiang but it feels like they’re trying too hard. He’s good but he’s not three championship three time MVP Master Tactician good. Sun Xiang is just Best Rookie, he’s never even made it to the playoffs.
EE had its worst playoffs finish ever last season, remember? EE is right, Ye Qiu is getting old.
So now we should fire any captain whose team doesn’t make it to the semifinals?!? I know God Ye is held to a higher standard than other pros but that’s just ridiculous.

I’m not a God Ye fan, but the way Excellent Era handled this feels disrespectful. When other captains retire, they get farewell parties and exhibition matches and commemorative merch. God Ye got...an announcement the day after he left.

Conquering Clouds is a mid-tier team that’s not in danger of relegation, EE is just taking care of God Ye by giving him a nice cushy place to retire from.
Do you guys know anything about top esports players? Or about God Ye? Anything at all? ‘A nice place to retire from’? God Ye doesn’t want that!!! God Ye has always pursued victory above everything!!!!! The only thing in his eyes is another championship! Trading him to a team like CC is an insult. This is nothing but an attempt to neutralize him so he’s not a threat to EE’s success.

...First, and most importantly, God Ye’s condition shows no signs of decline. Excellent Era’s recent remarks, and the reckless desperation they displayed to secure Sun Xiang’s transfer, caused rumors that Ye Qiu had been injured or his condition had suddenly worsened. However, Ye Qiu performed very stably in both the group arena and the team battle despite using an account with only a single piece of Silver Equipment. Conquering Clouds’ performance against Misty Rain was steady, and they managed to take a couple of points in the individual matches. Whatever Excellent Era’s reasoning was for replacing their captain, Ye Qiu’s condition should not have been a significant factor.
Excellent Era’s loss to Wind Howl gave a much different impression. The powerhouse team showed off their player and account strength, winning the group arena and two out of three individual matches. The team battle was a very different story. Excellent Era came apart almost as soon as the match began, suffering an embarrassing and unsightly defeat as the entire team stumbled into one trap after another. Sun Xiang’s skill was clear, but he floundered against the Criminal Partners’ dirty play, and his reaction to trash talk gave Wind Howl the chance to nearly reverse the group arena.
