Summary:

If you feel that you can't go on
In the light you will find the road
Though the winds of change may blow around you
But that will always be so
When love is pain it can devour you, but you are never alone
I will share your load, I will share your load
In the light
Everybody needs the light...

   Dinner was quick n' easy. Reheated burrito-type thing that Josuke didn't finish earlier that week. Okuyasu sat, crunching up the food's aluminum and used napkins into a ball. His eyes were stuck on his massive white board where some new scrawlings were filled in- most of the notes had been erased earlier that day though.

Light was low in this mixed space right now. Okuyasu's "office" he sat in now was actually quite a large room. Half of the space had a lengthy white work area for his tools, papers, notes, holoboxes and whatever other junk he'd drop there in his hasty days. Sleek shelves and cabinets sat snug against the walls for safe storage with a modern touch. He spun in his chair once before scooting toward the board, passing off his trashball to the trash can at the end of his desk along the way. A dim glow came from within as it burned up the trash in an instant.

The rest of the room tinked and creaked in a comforting quiet. Although it was 245 years past the 70's- the room felt homey and sleek like the rich home of someone in the eclectic era. The ceiling had somewhat of an 8 shape throughout the entire space, with a light lining the entire edge- ready to be any color or brightness the scientist needed. A long couch for lounging with others gave the room some flow along with some updated recliner looking chairs. Out of all the class and timeless looks in the room, one thing did stick out like a sore thumb.

Okuyasu was standing at his boards now, pressing down some sticky note so they'd stay in place for the night and rewriting times for new tests. He scrunched his face to the side reading ;

" April Test / #7 / As of April 9th subject is growing well, nerve connection on the up n up "

He licked his lips then popped them before erasing the entire line and rewriting ;

" April Test #7 : Failed on April 12th (@Y, please log this along with any notes ) / Subject growth was fine but nerve connection ceased, Atrophy of muscle began rapidly in legs and lower back. Would have been useless to continue pursuing. Subjects brain stem would have most likely been affected in a week aswell as all other muscles. Next time, less rushing of growth more waity ☹️ "

Okuyasu hummed while reading more things. With nothing else to add for now he capped the marker and sat in his office chair again, rolling toward the cleaner part of the desk to grab his holocube. He pushed the pearlescent button on top and the silver box lifted out of his hand and shifted it's shape.

" Show the ships oxygen. " Okuyasu said. It was time to check the ships vitals, a boring but highly important task- especially now. Oxygen looks fine. A glowing screen appeared with the high definition of a memory.

" Show gravity readings please. " Readings look fine.

" Show heat signatures in ship. Named please. " The cube takes a moment but the screen widens in front of him, showing the ship in it's entirety. Most of the orange blots of heat aren't moving because they're asleep, others are cleaning their job stations up for the 'night' and some dimmer spots are doing either task. He looks in his own quarters- he sees an unmoving dot in his bed. He smiles.
Josuke- reads above the dot.

He scrolls down the hall to see a dimmer dot moving around it's own living space- probably putting away work notes.

Okuyasu yawns after thinking about his bed.

"Auuuhn- Shhhow the uh, Show me the - what's it called. Show me the underbelly the the- Show me the vents for acceleration! That's it."  The screen gets smaller again and shows him a view of the underbelly of the entire ship. Deep black space contrasted the silvery ship, that just makes it easier to see any imperfections at the endof the day. No dents, no debris stuck in them, no faulty looking thing in sight- very good!

The holocube descends back into his hand without a sound, turning off. He places it on the desk and rolls his chair near an exit before popping up to stand and yawn again. He glances over! He nearly forgot!

His slippers don't make much sound as he pops over to the sore thumb decor in the room. A huge glass tube, big enough to fit about 4 grown men inside, stands tall in front of him half imbedded in the wall. It's full of a preserving liquid that gives off a green glow. At the base of the tube sits an all around panel system covered by silver sliding openings for safety. Under the slides would be tons of buttons/switches/alarms and settings for this device.

For now that isn't needed. He taps the glass even though it's empty of a subject now. The only thing inside is a hand sized capsule with one wire running up to it attaching it inside this device. It bobs and waves gently in the liquid.
"
" Don't be mad- We made you're muscles grow too fast if you can believe it. Exactly, is there ever really such a thing amiright? " Okuyasu flexes at the capsule. It doesn't move.

"So we had to scrap this new one." He looks disappointed. " But we're gonna get right back to it in a few days, I think I figured out the muscle thing. The nerve one is gonna be hard but me and him will get it. I'm even going down to Earth soon to talk to some guys about it. A'right? " He puts a palm up to the glass. He expects no answer but he always hopes in some childish way.

" G'night bud. " He pats the glass. The capsule rotates as a bubble bounces off of it. A label begins to show on one side.

It reads ;

[ Keicho Nijimura / Brain Tissue Sample ] Under the line, in thicker red text it says ;
[ORIGINAL SAMPLE : #5 OF #30 ]
