Summary
As long as Elle could remember she had always had a guiding force inside her, a moral compass with a voice. In her mid twenties with a life that she never pictured herself having, that moral compass had started to become something more hate filled. Struggling with the transition from disregarded responsibilities on Earth to being the only person in Thedas with the ability to close rifts, the voice in the back of her mind begins to become more violent and unconsciously reveal aspects of itself she had not noticed before.
With suppressed memories, fervent nightmares, and blood on her hands the new Herald of Andraste tries desperately to make up for a mistake that she can't remember making. One held over her head like a knife on a string.
With the assistance of some of the strongest fighters and mages at her side, the Herald works to adapt despite withdrawal and distance from all she would find familiar. Thankfully everyone else has an idea of what to do because she certainly doesn't.This story starts with more light/entertaining interactions with some serious ones thrown in. As it progresses it is apparent that the main character becomes more serious and feels the weight of events.
