He Xuan sullenly stirred the boba beads in his tea. A rare break in his appetite, the whole fiasco of last night still hung over his head like a dying goose.
“He-xiong?” Shi Qingxuan’s elbows rested on the table, a curl of hair twisted around his finger. He reached out and poked He Xuan in the cheek. “He-xiong, He-xiong, are you going to be sad about this all day?”
He lifted a shoulder.
“Oh, honestly.” Shi Qingxuan’s chair scraped loudly across the tied floor as he shifted around the table. “We’re supposed to be having a fun date.”
“So?”
“So! So, stop sulking about your crush and pay attention to me, your actual boyfriend.” Shi Qingxuan sniffed, head tilted up. He Xuan watched him, until an eye swung around to meet with his. And Shi Qingxuan’s attitude melted. Putting down his tea, He Xuan held out his hands and let Shi Qingxuan take them. “...I promise that Hua Cheng is too caught up in Xie-gege to even think about dating you.”
“Thanks.”
“I mean-” Shi Qingxuan chuckled, anxiously squeezing He Xuan’s hands. “You know what I mean! He probably already assumed that you meant to text me.”
