Jiang Cheng was sitting on his bed, cross legged, still examining the fan his fiancé had given to him previously that day. He felt his cheeks tingling even from remembering the sweet smile Nie Huaisang had on his face as he slipped his present in his hand, and Jiang Cheng felt his heartbeat speeding up yet again. He groaned, and closed his eyes. Despite being totally whipped for the other man, he had his issues that-
”A-Cheng, are you awake?” He heard his sister’s voice from the other side of the door, words followed by a quiet knock.
”Ah, A-Jie! Yes, I’m awake!” He said, and the door opened slowly. Upon seeing his sister, Jiang Cheng smiled, but his expression turned in a frown as his adopted older brother waltzed in the room behind her. His siblings climbed up to the bed beside him, and Wei Wuxian leaned in too much. ”What?” Jiang Cheng asked, leaning back.
”Awe, Jiang Cheng! You’re hurting my feelings!” Wei Wuxian said with a dramatic sigh. ”Cannot a loving big brother be worried about his didi?”
”A-Xian means that you have been awfully quiet throughout dinner, despite your meeting with Second Young Master Nie today,” Jiang Yanli said, and Wei Wuxian nodded. ”Did something happen?”
”No, of course not!” Jiang Cheng said quickly, glancing towards his pillow under which he quickly put his present before his siblings came in. ”It was great!”
”Then what’s the matter?” Wei Wuxian inquired, tilting his head to the side in question.
Jiang Cheng bit into his lip, and looked aside. He knew he should tell his siblings anything, they wouldn’t judge him. They would support him no matter what. That’s what siblings are for after all! He sighed, then spoke up again, steeling his nerves.
”It is just… A-Sang is so beautiful and perfect, and I am just-”
”-a gremlin with anger issues?” Wei Wuxian tried to help out, and Jiang Cheng smacked him with a pillow.
”A-Xian!” Jiang Yanli hissed too, a bit disappointed, but Jiang Cheng only nodded – to the pure horror of both of his siblings. Jiang Yanli wrapped her arms around her little brother, and pulled him on her chest. ”A-Cheng, do you really think Nie Mingjue would’ve said yes when our father suggested an arranged marriage if he thought you were unworthy?” She asked Jiang Cheng, who slightly shook his head.
”Shijie’s right!” Wei Wuxian chimed in, scooting a bit closer to the two. ”Clan Leader Nie only does what is best for Nie-xiong. Moreover, Nie-xiong is totally head over heels for you since the first time you met,” he said, then a smile appeared on his lips. ”I bet he would run away with you, if his brother said no to Uncle Jiang’s offer.”
”Wei Wuxian!” Jiang Cheng gasped in horror. ”Don’t say such scandalous things!”
”But why? It is true,” the other said matter-of-factly, but Jiang Cheng shook his head.
”A-Sang would never do something so disrespectful!”
”Just ask him when you meet him next time, then!” Wei Wuxian said, and Jiang Cheng looked at his sister helplessly.
”I have to agree with A-Xian on this, A-Cheng,” Jiang Yanli said, totally not helping. ”A-Sang would one hundred percent do it without a second thought.”
