Summary
Morax knows that the war with Celestia is fast approaching, and it cannot be delayed much longer. More so now that a being who seems readily able to use the power of the Archons freely and with a control unheard of roams Teyvat unfettered. Letting such a being wander, unattached to any land or people, is a foolish gambit, and if he wants victory, he will need every weapon and edge that can be gained come the clash that will shake the foundation of the very heavens.
Yet he cannot, technically, abandon his people. He struck a deal that he has not broken and refuses to break even still. But if they want him to remain in Liyue they need to give him cause to, give him reason to delay his leaving with the being known as Aether and later, march on Celestia.
He jokingly said he would stay if given a suitable war bride- a proper tribute in honor of what he has done and will continue to do for Liyue, gnosis or not.
And when Ningguang offers him Keqing as an option; Defiant, rebellious, stubborn, lovely, devoted, and passionate Keqing...Morax finds himself willing to stay, if just to indulge himself before the war begins.
