Work Text:
Yoongi grumbled as Hoseok led him down the many rows of potential Christmas trees since he had agreed to go with him to pick one out when they both had the time. It was already half way through December and they still hadn't. Both were extremely busy with their jobs and could never get enough time off together in order to go and Hobi didn't want to do it alone.
Everytime he stopped in front of a tree, Yoongi was hopeful that maybe this was the one. Hoseok would circle it curiously, inspecting every limb and inch of it. To Yoongi, he almost looked like a predator closing in on its prey, and with how serious Hoseok took picking out the perfect tree, he might as well have been.
"Yoonie, what do you think about this one?" Hoseok questioned, giving his boyfriend a look.
"It looks fine to me, it meets all of your standards. Tall, wide, bushy…" Yoongi listed off the many things on Hoseok's list. Yes. This man had a whole list of requirements the perfect tree had to meet in order for him to want it.
Hoseok sighed and shook his head as he came back around the other side of it. "No. This one won't do." He pointed to a limb that wasn't quite symmetrical with the other half of the tree. "That makes it look all wonky." He immediately turned and took Yoongi's hand again and led him onward. "Don't worry. They have thousands of trees we could look at."
"That's what I'm afraid of. " Yoongi muttered as he followed. " I still don't see why we can't just throw a star on Namjoon's head and wrap him up in lights. Boom. There's your Christmas tree.
"First of all–" Hoseok stifled a chuckle while his eyes scanned the new row full of trees they were walking through. "–Just because he's alot taller than you doesn't mean he's a tree. Secondly, there are sooo many things wrong with what you just said but I'm not going to get into that in the middle of this store. And lastly, it's not our job to tie him up with anything. We'll leave that to Minnie."
Yoongi stared at Hoseok, his mouth almost agaped then he closed it. He was about to come off with some quippy remark but he was jerked over to a huge tree that towered over all the others.
"Oh my God!" Hoseok exclaimed as he quickly did his routine of circling…critiquing the poor tree like he was some pageant judge. After a whole 5 minutes of silence, yes Yoongi was timing it, Hoseok had that look in his eyes that Yoongi had only seen twice in this situation from their 2 previous Christmases together. "Yoonie this is the one!! This one, I want this one!!" Hoseok clapped his hands together excitedly. He even did a little dance and spun around where he stood.
Yoongi would have given a silent prayer to the gods had he not been so fixated on his overly adorable boyfriend's reaction. God damn, why did Hoseok have to be so cute???
"Yoonie!! Yoonie!! Help me get it on the dolly so we can take it up front! Hurry before someone else comes and takes it! This is MY tree. MINE!!"
"Alright alright, calm down. I highly doubt someone is going to come take–" Yoongi cut off his words when he saw the look Hobi was giving him. "Fine, stay right here. I'll be right back." He then turned and walked off quickly.
A few moments later Hoseok looked up to see Yoongi coming back with one of those long flatbed carts. Hoseok had to blink a few times to make sure he was seeing it correctly. Hevwas. Yoongi was riding it, pushing it with one leg. Hoseok's expression brightened and suddenly he wished he had gone to get it instead.
Yoongi stopped right next to Hosrok and his soon to be new tree then the both of them loaded it up. Yoongi felt like he had so much extra energy now. After this they could pack it up and go home. Ahhh… home. He told Hosrok to climb onto the cart with the tree and he did, sitting right up front with his legs folded Indian style as Yoongi pushed it up to the front. After scanning his card to pay, he went right on out and they loaded it into the back of Yoongi's truck.
They both climbed in and Yoongi started out of the parking lot, making a left turn but when he glanced over to his boyfriend who had the brightest smile on his face while swaying left to right to the music he had put on when they first got in. Hoseok was more than pleased with his tree choice. He looked over out the window, watching the scenery as it went by. As they approached a light and Yoongi stopped, Hoseok's already excited eyes lit up. "Yoonie!! Yoonie!!!" He practically yelled out, causing Yoongi to jump. You'd think after almost 3 years of being together that the older male would be used to Hoseok's outbursts but there were times where he was still caught off guard.
"We can't go home, look over there!!!" Hoseok pointed to a brightly displayed store and a fairly large sign explaining about every christmas decoration you could imagine, including a massive section dedicated to just tree ornaments. "Turn! Yoonie turn!! Right here!"Yoongi felt his excitement slip away but how could he say "no"? There was no way in hell he would ruin Hoseok's spirit. After making sure hevwas in the clear, he got over and turned. As soon as he found a place to park, Hosrok bounded out of the vehicle and Yoongi got out to follow. He had to admit it though. This place was immaculate. Outside of the store there were all kinds of inflatable reindeer, snowmen, santas and things Yoongi had never even seen before. It was decked out with all kinds of multicolored lights too that seemed to be flashing in sync with the christmas music the store was playing.
Hoseok's eyes sparkled, both from the lights and his own excitement. He dragged Yoongi inside after admiring everything the outside had to offer. The outside was nothing compared to what the inside looked like and instantly Hoseok was like a kid in a candy store. Everytime he went to look at something, another display would catch his eye and he'd drag Yoongi along to the new one.
Yoongi even started to get a little shimmer in his eyes from everything that he saw. He never thought there could be so many things all put together for people to buy just for Christmas. Eventually it got to the point where he wasn't being dragged around anymore. He was just as excited to see everything as his boyfriend was. He had even noticed that Hoseok had gotten a cart from somewhere but he was already piling things into it. If it had been anyone else, Yoongi would have questioned the amount of items being thrown into the cart but the tree they got had enough room on it for an entire family of squirrels to live in. So he knew it would all fit.
Hoseok was so fixed on looking and grabbing everything that he didn't even notice when Yoongi added a few things to the growing pile. "Babe, are you sure you need all of this?" He finally asked when he noticed the cart was damn near full to the brim.
"Of course I do!" Hoseok replied as he added even more. "Don't worry, I have plans for every single thing I've put in here. Our tree will be the best it's ever been" he added and Yoongi believed him. "But, I think that's everything I need. Lets head to checkout"
Yoongi never thought he'd hear those words. This had been an amazing experience but truthfully, he was tired and wanted to get off his feet. Counting from the time they left that morning, they had been out almost 7 hours and a good majority of it had been spent looking for the tree and now for the decorations. Honestly Yoongi didn't really mind it but he wasn't as outgoing and social as his boyfriend. He would much rather be at home, lounging about. He and Hoseok were opposites when it came to going out but Hoseok always found a way to talk Yoongi into leaving the house with them. As long as it was with him, Yoongi didn't mind despite how much he grumped and grumbled initially.
Yoongi found it amusing when the cashier asked if they were going to a Christmas party after ringing them up, even more so when Hoseok gave her a confused look. He couldn't help chuckling at how innocent Hiseok was in his confusion about it. Yoongi leaned in to him after he paid and they had walked off. "Babe, normal people don't usually buy this much unless they are trying to out do their neighbors or throwing some big business party for the holidays."
"Then normal people are doing it all wrong" Hoseok stated matter of factly. "Christmas is supposed to be big. Filled with festiveness and joy and cheer. It's the most wond–"
"–erful time of the year," Yoongi finished off his words with another chuckle. "I know, Sunshine. I know. And I know it's your favorite time of the year too."
"Well yeah. It's when we met for the first time!"
"Mhm, it is. But for now, let's get all of this home. We've been out practically all day. My social batter is beyond dead and we've only munched on a few free cookies that were at the tree place. I'm starved."
Hoseok situated himself in the passenger seat and shut the door. He started to pout "I'm sorry. I got so wrapped up in every–"
"Stop it right there" Yoongi cut him off as he pulled out of the parking lot. "Don't be sorry. Yeah, I didn't really wanna get out and spend the whole day shopping but whether you realize it or not, I kinda enjoyed it."
Hoseok turned and looked at him "Really?"
"Yeah, really. I don't like getting out much but….its not nearly as bad when it's with you. You just make it better, okay? I mean it, so get that pout off your face. I mean, it's cute and all but I miss that sunshine smile of yours already."
Hoseok started to smile despite his flushed cheeks, dimples forming and all. Sometimes Yoongi wasn't all that expressive with how he felt but when he did, it always came out like this and Hoseok could tell that every single word was from the heart. Hoseok leaned over, wrapping his arms awkwardly around Yoongi to hug him, being careful not to make him lose focus on the road. "I love you so much" he whispered into his ear.
Yoongi took one hand off the wheel then moved it to Hoseok's chin and turned his head just enough to capture the man's soft heart shaped lips while still keeping an eye on the road.
If Yoongi weren't driving at the moment, Hoseok would have crawled straight over to straddle him but instead he opted for sliding his hand up and grabbed a fist full of Yoongi's black hair after threading his fingers slowly through it, earning a shiver from him.
Yoongi parted his lips from Hoseok's slightly "I love you too, Sunshine but you're makin' it really hard to focus right now...in more ways than one. We're almost home, babe..." he said with a groan. Pulling away was the last thing he wanted to do but he also wanted to make it home in one piece. Hoseok could have his way with him after that. Sure Yoongi's social battery needed a good recharge but not all of him was dead. He was more than willing to let his boyfriend wear him out physically too. That was something he'd never turn down.
They were only about 10 minutes from being home and Hoseok knew that but he couldn't help himself. He never could when moments like these overtook him. He wasn't good at pushing away urges either, especially when he knew he could get away with it. Hoseok didn't used to be so bold when they first got together but that was one of the things Yoongi brought out of him.
"You're right, you should keep your eyes on the road, Yoonie." Hoseok smirked playfully. "I'm just going to see how hard it actually is on you~ ...don't mind me. Just focus..." he whispered out the last part into Yoongi's ear, making the warmth of his breath felt on his skin.
Yoongi managed to finally pull into the driveway 10 minutes later with Hoseok toying with and teasing him the entirety of the trip home. He fell back against the seat, not even bothering to turn the truck off. He was out of breath and Hoseok's hands were covered in his mess.
Hoseok moved away then leaned to clean Yoongi off along with his hands. He started to straddle him like he wanted to before but Yoongi stopped him. He grabbed Hoseok's arm and practically dragged him out of the truck after shutting it off. "Fuck the food and decorations. There's no time for that. If you aren't inside me in the next 3 minutes Ill fucking lose my shit." Yoongi stated as he eyed the wet spot and hard outline on the front of Hoseok's crotch. He couldn't get into the house fast enough.
Yoongi kicked the door shut behind them, pulled Hoseok up to their bedroom. and from there everything was a blur of moans and pure blissful pleasure for the both of them for the rest of the night. They both ended up passing out wrapped up in each other's arms.
The next morning Yoongi actually woke up before Hoseok, which was rare. His stomach growled something fierce too. Hoseok was the only real thing he had eaten the day before besides some measly cookies. He covered Hoseok's naked body with the blanket then disappeared from the bedroom, making his way to the bathroom first then down stairs after grabbing some clothes.
Hours passed before Hoseok actually woke up but he instantly noticed the cold spot next to him that was usually full of warmth from a sleeping Yoongi. He scrambled out of bed and grabbed a robe to throw on then headed down stairs. The sight that he walked in on as he entered the living room made his heart swell. He covered his mouth with a single hand. "Yoonie…."
Yoongi looked over and flashed a big gummy smile. "Mornin' Sunshine" all around him were decorations that he'd put up and a half decorated tree. "Surprise~, and don't worry. I didn't put up everything, mostly just the tree. I wouldn't take that away from you but I did wanna get it all started for you. Oh and–" he cut himself off and grabbed one of the boxes from the store then handed it to Hoseok. "I saved the star for you to out on"
"This isn't the star I picked— oh my god, Yoonie what is this???" Hoseok looked at his boyfriend as he held up the box. Inside of it was a tree star but the middle of it had a clear space that was filled with a photo. One of Hoseok. Hevwas smiling so brightly, dimples showing prominently on each side of his face. He remembered that picture too. It was one that Yoongi had taken of him months ago.
"I know it's not the one you picked. I slipped it into the cart. I can't think of a better star to top our tree than you. You're the brightest star and you need to be shown off."
Hoseok was at a loss for words. He grabbed Yoongi and hugged the man so tight that the air was forced from him. "I've never been so happy before, Yoonie. I love it, I love you!! He finally exclaimed and peppered Yoongi's face with kisses before planting a long one onto his lips. "You're my world, Min Yoongi."
