Work Text:

Being woken up in an ungodly hour isn't unusual for Dazai. He'd gone through so many emergencies, so many nightmares that waking up at 3 AM doesn't surprise him anymore.

This time, he woke up not from a nightmare, nor for an emergency but just because.

Dazai blinked his eyes open and pushed himself to a reclining position and what surprised him was the fact that Chuuya's already awake; glasses on and he was reading a book with the night lamp on.

"You're up." He said, wiggling so he could lay right next to Chuuya and press his face on the other's stomach; The response was immediate, Chuuya putting a hand on his hair and began to gently stroking.

"I am." The ginger said, flipping through a page. "Nightmare?"

"No." Dazai muttered. "Why are you up?"

Chuuya shrugged. "I just did." He answered, eyes never leaving his book even when Dazai slipped his head underneath Chuuya's oversized pajamas. "What are you doing?"

"Seeking warmth."

"You're cold?" Chuuya pressed closer against the brunet, pulling the comforter to cover them more properly.

"Kinda. What are you reading?" Chuuya showed the cover to Dazai- who's peeking from beneath his shirt- before returning to reading it. "Chuuya, make me hot chocolate."

"Mhmm, okay." The older put a bookmark in between the pages he was reading and put the book away. "Move." He mumbled. "I won't be able to make us anything if you don't." He said matter of factly and Dazai sighed in defeat because that's quite true.

"Are you coming?" The ginger asked just before he jumped down the bed, hissing when his feet came to contact with the freezing tiles.

"I am." Dazai said, gathering the blanket around himself and following after Chuuya, also groaning upon touching the cold floor. "It's cold." And he quickly ran behind Chuuya, pulling him into his blanket barrier, sticking close and moving around with him.

"You're really like an octopus." Chuuya commented with a chuckle as he dropped the chocolate into their milk.

"What's that?" Dazai asked curiously, peeking at the ball floating in their milk.

"Chocolate bomb." Chuuya said, taking both mugs and moving to the living area. He slipped away from Dazai after putting down the glasses, only for the sake of opening the curtain and turning on the lights they had wrapped around the Christmas tree the day before.

"That's why it's cold." He commented once he saw the white falling from the sky. "It's snowing." Chuuya then returned to Dazai, sitting in between his legs and with his mug wrapped by both his hands.

It's barely 4 in the morning, the sky was still dark with snow falling and the air around them was serene and peaceful. Chuuya sighed contentedly and leaned his back fully against Dazai's chest once the brunet placed his cup back on their coffee table.

"Merry Christmas, Chuuya." He heard Dazai murmur against his hair and Chuuya hummed, twisting his neck slightly so he could press his lips against the corner of Dazai's mouth.

"Merry Christmas."
