Definitely Not A Lonely Christmas Shopping

Summary:

So he asked - begged - Dazai to let him have some alone shopping time and despite the younger's very offended face - insisting that he wouldn't be a bother to Chuuya if he comes with, which obviously is a lie - and many more unspoken protests, he nodded and said with an understanding : "Alright, go. You deserve it. Have fun, darling."

Work Text:

Chuuya hummed to himself as he looked around, scanning for any shop he'd like to enter.

It has surely been awhile since he last went out by himself, truly alone, without bringing Dazai or Shuuji and most importantly, without Dazai stalking him; he had put the brunet on Shuuji duty, who's been very fussy the whole day and as much as he loves Shuuji, Chuuya's exhausted from hearing his baby's cries all day long.

Chuuya had kissed him happily for that and before running off, said : "Thank you, I'll cook you a feast when I come back. Love you." And there he was, alone in the huge department store, doing his Christmas shopping.

The redhead browsed through the toy section, making Shuuji's Christmas present the first to check off his list. Shuuji has been taking a liking to big plushies, so Chuuya had ordered 2 customized dolls for him but just in case he got bored of them, Chuuya bought some interactive story books, a table train set and mini grand piano set - the little one seemed very enthusiastic in playing with their piano, after all.

Making sure to get them all neatly and prettily wrapped, Chuuya moved on to the present for his bigger kids ( read : the tiger boy, the emo kid, Kyouka-chan, Elise-chan and Kenji too ). What's good for people their ages? After pondering for a while, Chuuya decided on a very expensive fluffy pajama set and socks which he made sure to pack separately. Surely they'll like it.. right?

Next on was the older ones, what's better than some wines for the? Chuuya could hear Dazai's complaint if he were to see the huge load of things he bought and chuckled to himself.

Chuuya was in the middle of picking out a tea set for Kouyou when his phone rang. He didn't need to check the caller ID to know who it was. He put his phone in between his ear and shoulders. "Anything gone wrong yet?"

"Chuuya~! It's been years! Why aren't you home yet!?" Came the whine which made the ginger chuckle.

"You dramatic squid, it's only been an hour and a half." He said after checking the time. "I'm going to take a decade." Chuuya then added, pointing at one particular pink colored set and asking for them to wrap it up.

"What are you doing?"

"Shopping, duh. Christmas presents for everyone." Chuuya handed him his card as they proceeded with his payment. "What would you like?"

"Mhm, you shouldn't ask questions you know the answer to." Dazai hummed and Chuuya could vaguely hear Shuuji asking for ' mommy!' in the background. "I want Chuuya wrapped in pretty red bows!"

The mafioso rolled his eyes, surely expecting the answer. "Good bye."

"Shuuji! Mommy doesn't love us anymore! He's going to leave us! He's going to let us live on the road, all poor and dirty!"

Chuuya could only shake his head at his husband's dramatic act, proceeding to enter the next shop which was a designer shop. "Shuuji, tell mommy to stay with us and not leave."

" Mommy, don't leave us !" He laughed at Shuuji's fake wail. "You! Don't teach him those kinds of things!" He said while browsing through some coats, smiling at Dazai's laugh and Shuuji's giggle over the phone.

"I see he's all good now."

"He is." Dazai confirmed and Shuuji giggled some more, Chuuya guessed the brunet must be tickling him. Ah, he kinda missed them already. "When are you coming back?"

"Soon." He promised. "I just need to buy ingredients for dinner."

"Lies. Chuuya's probably looking at hats now."

"Wrong. I'm looking at clothes." Chuuya corrected with a grin.

"Shuuji, mommy is going to leave us for a long, long time!"

" Mommy !"

"I'll be back in 2 hour, at most, promise!" Chuuya laughed. "What do you feel like eating?"

"Actually, Shuuji said he wanted instant noodles." Dazai said, which made Chuuya frown.

"No."

"But, mommy~!" It was Dazai. "Let the boy eat it!"

"No. If you want noodles, I'll buy ramen on my way home."

"Tch, stingy. Mommy's stingy."

"No is a no. I'll break your bones if you sneakily gave it to him."

" Mommy, pwease? "

"No. I'll be back with ramen, so if you're hungry, I had cut some fruits in the fridge." He said sternly. "You won't try to do things behind my back." He warned very seriously and heard them both mutter a defeated : " Okaay~ "

"Good, I'll see you guys soon, okay?"

"I love you, mommy! See you!"

"See you, baby."

"Take care, Chuuya."

"Mhm, see you soon. I'll hang up."

And by the time he hung up, Chuuya had brought several clothes, hats and shoes to the cashier. Who said he can't buy himself presents too?

Now, for the last one, before he had to go and buy their dinner.

He set his many luggages in one corner of the shop he entered and roamed around, looking at the display cabinet. Kindly, he dismissed the clerk asking for what he'd like and after what seemed like hours, Chuuya returned to the first cabinet he checked and pointed at particular pieces. "I'll have these two." He said with a satisfied smile.

Chuuya slipped the small boxes inside his coat pocket, gathering some of his belongings when someone tapped his shoulder. He flinched at the touch, glaring at the guy who dared to touch him without his consent. His glare loosened when he saw the uniform the guy was wearing. "Something the matter?"

"Pardon me, Sir, I was just wondering if you'd like help with those?" The security said, looking at the mountain of wrapped presents behind Chuuya.

The ginger looked at them before shaking his head, "That wouldn't be necessary." He said, showcasing his ability. Then with a sweet smile, he left the store with his things floating behind him.

The mafioso made a stop by his most frequented ramen shop for their late dinner, he checked the time just before he drove home : 8.15 PM, hope they're not that hungry yet.

" Mommy ! Welcome!" Chuuya let out an 'oof' as soon as his little one ran and collided against his legs.

"Hi, baby. I'm home." He greeted back, picking Shuuji up and swinging him around while using his power to deliver his recently bought stuff to his and Dazai's room.

"Did you buy the whole department store?" Dazai commented from a far, walking over to the two redheads but Chuuya slipped away before he could touch him and nullify his ability.

After the packed dinner was safely placed on top of the dining table, only then did he allow contact with his husband. "You took so long I almost ate the little Chibi."

"Noo! I almost ate daddy!" Shuuji argued, hugging Chuuya close by his neck.

"You did? Should've eaten him so you can grow big." The redhead hummed, preparing Shuuji's dinner while telling Dazai to do his own by himself.

"Oh, the favouritism is showing. Not cool, mommy, not cool." Dazai said disappointedly as he sadly peeled open the package, stabbing on the noodle with a pout. "Shuuji, mommy hates me."

Shuuji actually looked at Chuuya with a frown, also pouting. "Mommy . " And the bigger redhead swallowed a laugh at his attempt of looking intimidating.

"You're such a kid." Chuuya rolled his eyes to his husband, taking the broth to pour into Dazai's bowl. "Alright, let's eat and get some rest." He announced, setting Shuuji down on his chair.

"You know, before I got out from the store," Chuuya started, wiping away the broth that got on Shuuji's cheeks. "I met a gentleman who offered to hold my things for me." He said, gaining Dazai's attention as he raised a brow. "Unlike some bandaged bastard who wouldn't even lift a finger, and touched me whenever I tried to use my ability." He finished with a scoff.

"I did help!" Dazai argued.

"Help nullifying my ability, yes."

"Geez, Shuuji mommy's being mean!"

"Stop trying to use Shuuji at every given chance, you big baby!"

"Mommy, daddy, no fight!"

"We're not fighting." Chuuya chuckled, using the bib to clean the toddler's face. "Are you full yet?" Shuuji nodded, a smile on his face before he yawned. "Your daddy's laziness is rubbing on you." Chuuya said disapprovingly, finishing his share of ramen. "Come, I'll help brush your teeth and then you'll sleep. When you wake up tomorrow, Santa-san will deliver your present. That, if you're nice."

"And you'll leave me alone here?" Dazai gasped, offended.

"Quickly finish your food, then, daddy." Chuuya said boredly, moving to put their bowls in the sink before putting Shuuji down to the ground.

"Daddy's slow!" Shuuji giggled, running away when Dazai glared playfully at him. "You're going to be put in the naughty list if you keep that up!" He warned, making Shuuji gasp as he disappeared into his room.

"I'm going to have him brush his teeth and put him to sleep." The ginger walked towards his husband, kissing his forehead. "Meet me in the bedroom, hm?"

"I'll visit the little Chibi, too."

"If you say so."

It's almost 10 when the two of them were finally able to find privacy.

"Just what did you buy?" Dazai asked, staring at the huge pile in the corner of their room.

"Hmm, a lot." The ginger answered with a grin. "Tea set, piano set, toys, pajamas, wines, socks." He listed down.

"Do you even remember which is which?"

"Of course." He said, looking actually offended as he began to tell Dazai which is whose.

"What about mine?" The brunet raised a brow when Chuuya finished.

"Secret."

"Probably hidden inside Chuuya's hat."

"You- Did you take it!?"

Dazai laughed aloud. "I didn't, don't worry."

That made Chuuya pout, kicking him under the blanket. "You always spoil the fun."

"It's fun, looking at you getting all frustrated."

"You're such an ass." The redhead sighed. "Nothing new, though."

00.01 AM,

Chuuya opened the nightstand and grabbed one velvet box, offering it to Dazai. "Merry Christmas." He said sleepily, leaning against his lover who grabbed it.

"Another jewelry?"

"Mhm, because I like seeing you wearing them. Go get a piercing so I can buy your earrings." He joked, sinking deeper to the comforter as he side eyed Dazai's reaction to the newly bought necklace.

"It's pretty." He said, eyeing the simple necklace with a thin bar shaped pendant most likely made of white gold. Dazai twisted the bar around and chuckled when he found it, the initial D.C. Dazai Chuuya.

Chuuya always made sure to have it engraved on every single piece of jewelleries he gifted Dazai. "I'll only wear it if Chuuya put it on for me."

"Tomorrow, I'm way too sleepy for this." He mumbled.

"Aren't you forgetting something, though?" The brunet set the present on the nightstand, gathering Chuuya into his arms.

"Of course I didn't." The older one said, pushing until they weren't touching and used his ability to grab on the second box hidden inside his hat.

"Another jewelry?" Dazai asked as he watched the item float towards them.

"I won't give it to you if you don't want it." Chuuya said simply, taking the box in his hand and opening them to reveal a ring with a small gemstone, similar to the one Dazai wore in his usual attire. "It's blue topaz, though, not turquoise. You lost our wedding ring, didn't you?"

Dazai looked at his husband with wide eyes. "I would never!"

"Don't lie, stupid. You think I had no idea, I remember every single graze on that ring, you can't fool me." He said, taking the band and slipping it onto Dazai's finger which was previously occupied by his fake wedding ring. "I'm surprised you lost it, though."

"Sorry, I was careless and it slipped off and got blown by a bomb. I couldn't find it." The brunet admitted, looking at the new band around his finger, humming in approval.

Chuuya hummed. Nothing they can do about that. "Happy anniversary, stupid."

Dazai smiled, lips meeting Chuuya's nose. "Thank you, Chibi. Merry Christmas and happy anniversary."

"I'd ask for my present but my eyes are closing soon."

"What if I say my present is Mr. Genderbend? I'm thinking of giving Shuuji a very special present."

"I'll stab you and that guy alive. We're not having a second until Shuuji could take care of himself!"

"Tch, stingy Chuuya."

Later in the day, Chuuya ended up receiving a truck load of flowers, tacky - Dazai's words, not his - hats, new car - which surprisingly, was bought without using his own money -; loads of kisses from his two beloved and countless very sweet rounds of baby-making (No, they're not having a second child because he did stab Dazai when he tried to use the ability to turn him into females again).
