"Chibi, let's go on a date."

It was the 25th of December and Dazai must've done the right thing by saying that because now he's looking at the redhead, trying so hard to keep his annoyed façade as he ordered for the both of them.

Honestly, Christmas or not, Dazai could care less about that. They never held any importance to him but Chuuya loves them and if there's anything he actually cares about, it'd be making his beloved's azure eyes sparkle in excitement and those pretty pink lips curling into a wide smile.

They were currently in one of Chuuya's favourite, ridiculously expensive restaurants; dressed formally in similar white suits which they didn't plan in advance. They were sitting face to face in their reserved private room; the full moon and candles being their only sources of light.

It's not their first time having dinner in such an environment. While they're used to diners and bars where they could bicker loudly and trash the whole place, the atmosphere here was different and maybe that was what affected their behaviours too. Both of them were a lot calmer and defined; even their bickers and insults were toned down.

"I didn't expect you to ask me out on a date." Chuuya commented once their caviar tartlets were served, glancing at Dazai who shrugged his shoulders in return, small pout on his lips.

"Just how low do you think of me?" He whined in protest.

"Pretty low, if I must say."

"You're not supposed to answer that, Chibi, you're mean. Santa won't give you a present!"

Chuuya scoffed. "Who the heck believes in Santa nowadays." He mumbled.

"I know Chuuya believes in him until we're 18." Dazai pointed out and easily evaded the knife thrown towards him.

"We agreed to not speak of that ever again, didn't we?" He said, a dangerously sweet smile on his lips. Dazai chuckled, lifting both arms in surrender. "Alright, alright."

Their appetizer course went by with them bickering like they usually do; Dazai insulting Chuuya and the redhead returning the favor. The soup course was accompanied by their stories about their respective workplace; Dazai telling him about how Kunikida secretly bought presents for everyone and in return, Chuuya told him about how Akutagawa's stressing about what to buy the weretiger ever since Chuuya told him a Christmas present for your spouse is a must.

"So, what did he end up buying?" Dazai asked curiously, sipping on his mineral water as Chuuya finished his last spoonful of soup.

"I don't know." The redhead shrugged. "I don't think he had decided.. wait, I do remember hearing him talking about buying a tea house."

Dazai laughed. "Tea house? Because Atsushi-kun likes Chazuke?"

"Maybe." Chuuya said with a chuckle. "Youngsters." He added, waiting for their main course that appeared not long after.

It was a habit Dazai had developed; the first bite of his food belongs to Chuuya- he once said it's to check whether it's poisoned or not, when everyone knows he'd gladly drink a bottle of poison if given- and that's why he offered his prawn to the ginger who took it without a question. "Good?" Chuuya nodded his head, cutting a piece of steak and bringing his fork to Dazai's lips in return.

Compared to the amount of Chuuya's steak, Dazai's main course was pretty modest and thus, he finished his food pretty quickly. Having nothing better to do, he settled on staring at his lover; counting the seconds until he got embarrassed and told him to stop.

Chuuya's the embodiment of elegance; the way he cut his steak and put it inside his mouth, humming in appreciation at the taste, and when he picked his glass up for a sip of the wine he loves so much- every movements he does oozed grace only he himself could ever hope to achieve.

It is such a beautiful contrast to his usual brutish and brash attitude and Dazai enjoyed every moment he's given the chance to witness. He could watch his lover all day and hell, he'd pay if he must. That's how much he loves looking at his Chibi.

It took 45 seconds for the redhead to voice his embarrassment annoyance out, cheeks tinting red. "Stop staring, you're grossing me out." He grumbled and Dazai grinned at the way those words did not hold any heat behind them.

"My, how confident of you to think that I'm staring at you out of my own will. I'm just keeping an eye on you because I'm afraid I might lose sight of the microorganism-sized Chibi."

"You bastard." Chuuya said through gritted teeth before loosening and heaving a sigh instead. "How are you so annoying?" He grunted, deciding to let the remark slide and continuing with his half remaining steak.

"Hm? Would Chibi prefer me saying : You're a view that rivals even the ten billion masterpiece, after all?" Chuuya fake gagged, but the blush on his cheeks gave him away. "You like that one better, after all." Dazai chuckled.

"I like none of them!" The ginger denied stubbornly. "Shut up before I impale this knife on your forehead!"

"Scary, Chuuya, scary. That's not something you say to your date." Dazai pouted, drinking his share of wine. "You should have said something along the line : you look beautiful tonight, I think I fell in love with you again, thank you for taking me out."

"You fucking wish." Chuuya shuddered openly.

"Chuuya, meanie." He said and as Chuuya continued with his food, not giving him any more reaction and most importantly attention , his pout deepened.

But then Chuuya's giggling, blue eyes forming crescents and he's covering his mouth with his hand and trying to prevent those sweet sounds from escaping his throat, Dazai's breath hitched.

"You're such a kid!" The redhead said in between giggles. "Stop pouting it makes you look ridiculous." He finished his last bite of steak and got up from his seat to walk over Dazai who's looking at him with surprise.

"You want my attention that bad?" He tilted Dazai's face up by his chin. "Yes, you look good tonight, Osamu." He added, brushing the brown lock that had escaped and tugging it behind Dazai's ear. "You know I love seeing you looking like this."

"I'd say thank you for making this happen but I know in the end I'll be the one paying for this. But I guess the thought's what counts. Thank you, Osamu." Chuuya blinked at Dazai's frozen state. "You look like a half-dead fish."

"Chuuya.." The brunet breathed out, holding onto both Chuuya's hands and looking at him right in the eyes who seemed to be taken aback by the intense stare. "What?"

And Dazai's never the impulsive or spontaneous type, that's Chuuya's part in their relationship. He's the kind who needs a ridiculously detailed plan in order to do something, more so something as big as this .

But then Chuuya's smiling so beautifully like that and Dazai's brain short circuited and his breath got caught in his throat; and the question just slipped out of his mouth.

" Will you marry me? "

For a moment, the world seemed to stop, Chuuya's looking at him wide-eyed, obviously thrown off by the unexpected question and then he's laughing quietly. "You need a ring to propose, idiot."

"I don't have the ring yet." Dazai mumbled, holding Chuuya by his waist.

"Then you can't propose, asshole. You expect to ask someone's hand in marriage without a ring? Pure disrespect."

"Can I make the tissue into a ring?"

Chuuya rolled his eyes at the idea, kissing Dazai's forehead fondly. "Forget about marriage, I'd break up with you this instant." He said, humming when Dazai pressed his nose against his neck.

"Then let's go buy the ring. Right now." The brunet said, urgency in his tone which made Chuuya smile.

"You're actually serious about this?"

"I am." Dazai then stood up, pulling Chuuya along with him.

"Wait, we still have the dessert!"

"We can have it another time, this is more important." The brunet said, taking out his own card and paying and then they're quickly leaving the place for the nearest jewelleries store where Dazai spent only a little time choosing, his eyes were quick to find something simple, yet so beautiful and expensive enough, befitting his lover.

Quickly exiting the shop once his business was done there, Dazai dragged him to the center of the department store they entered, and dropped to one knee. "Now that I have the ring, I'll ask you again. Will you marry me, Chuuya?"

The ginger smiled. "I never thought my proposal would be like this, you better ask me again and make it special, asshole." He said to Dazai who's smiling sheepishly. "But yes, I'll take one for the team and marry your ass."

The detective laughed, delighted as he slipped the ring to his finger, kissing the silver band before standing up to gather Chuuya in his arms. "You mean my dick?"

Chuuya hugged him as tight, smiling as he blurted out. "Fucking asshole."

Cupping his cheeks, Dazai leaned in and m

kissed him deeply. "Merry Christmas, fiancé."
