Chapter Text
The first girl to ever like Katsuki was Sakura Futura. It was primary school 3rd year. She was a smart girl, objectively pretty with long black hair and a happy smile. She had passed a note to him in class that said, 'will you go out with me? □yes □no □maybe.'
Katsuki had burned the note. No girl had a crush on him the rest of primary school.
It's not like Katsuki didn't think Sakura was pretty, he just thought all romance was stupid. He didn't have the time to worry about flowers and anniversaries, he was training to be a hero. All might be single for a reason.
Katsuki hadn't had much time to think about romance since he started at UA. Not that he would have thought about it if he had time. Katsuki had been kidnapped by the league barely a month ago. But as summer break ended and class 1a returned to class, romance seemed to be the only thing on Katsuki's mind.
It all started when tail and invisa-bitch got together. They had never been worth a damn to Katsuki, but their hand-holding and gift-giving were starting to get annoying. And their partnership had mad romance the biggest topic for discussion around class 1a.
"Come on Ochako," Mina said just loud enough to catch Katsuki's attention. All the class 1a girls were huddled in a circle around the common room having another 'sleepover' or whatever they liked to call it. Katsuki had just come downstairs to get a snack and the girls hadn't noticed yet.
"We all know you like Midoriya! Just tell him already"
What? Katsuki dropped his bowl spilling cereal all over the kitchen floor.
Pink checks liked Deku. Looking back on it it wasn't very surprising the two had been blushing around each other since day one. But something about Deku being all lovey-dovey with a round face made Katsuki want to blow shit up.
"Bakugou!" Uraraka shouted jumping at the bowl shattering on floor. "I- I um... I didn’t...I don't..." she stammered, her cheeks bright red at this point.
"I don't care if you like the fucking nerd," Katsuki said as he began to clean the mess on the floor. Ignoring the girls who were still in shock. To be honest, Katsuki was in shock too, but he wasn't gonna let a bunch of extras figure that out.
"Here let me help you," Tsu said walking over to the kitchen and cleaning up some of the cereal. All the other girls slowly snapped out of their shock.
"I'll help too" Mina smiled awkwardly.
"Same" Uraraka said.
"I can clean the fucking bowl myself" Katsuki scowled pushing the girls away. "I'm not a poisonous snake, you guys can keep going with your slumber party"
"To be frank you completely ruined the mood," Tsu said. She was always so blunt. Sometimes it was nice, hearing the truth without trying to decipher what people's aggressive statements meant. But most of the time it just left no room to lie to yourself about the reality of a situation.
"Yea sorry Bakugou, but I think we're all going to bed," Jiro said though she didn’t seem sorry. All the girls went upstairs to their rooms awkwardly waving at Katsuki who had just finished cleaning the ceramic mess on the kitchen floor. Well, all the girls except for Uraraka.
"What do you want pink checks?" Katsuki barked.
"I just wanted to ask you to not tell anyone about you know...my crush on Midoriya"
"Why the fuck would I tell anyone that?" Katsuki scowled, "besides it's not like I care about you or Deku."
"I know...I just don't want anyone but the girls to know," she blushed
"Why?" Uraraka looked puzzled at that, "like why do care if people know, it's not like your gay or anything no one's gonna care."
"Well, you know it's just it's personal. I don't want everyone to know everything about me" she explained, that puzzled expression still on her face. "You know...I don't think anyone here would care if you or one of us was gay."
"I'm not gay pink cheeks," Katsuki said a little too defensively.
"Oh...sorry, I just wanted to make sure you knew, and if you are gay I'm sure...."
"I'm not fucking gay." Katsuki fumed, definitely sounding too defensive at this point.
"I'm not saying you are I'm just...."
"Your just what?" Katsuki wasn't helping his case, but he wasn't backing down now, "I said I'm not gay, so there's nothing more to talk about. I'm sure if someone was gay they would love to hear your little speech, but I'm not so just shut up and go to bed okay?"
That had left Uraraka in complete shock. "I- sorry, um...goodnight" she started towards the stairs when Mina appeared in the stairway.
"Is everything good down here?" Katsuki and Uraraka jumped glaring at one another.
"Yea, we're fine" Uraraka smiled hoping Mina hadn't heard Katsuki's meltdown. But no one was hoping she hadn't overhead them more than Katsuki, he didn't need two people to think he was gay.
"Okay good I just thought I heard someone yelling, but I guess it was just Bakugou being Bakugou" she laughed, clearly not noticing the tension in the kitchen.
"Yeah well we're all good here," Uraraka forced a smile, "good night" she waved as Mina walked back upstairs and Uraraka looked back at Bakugou. "Bakugou I'm sorry I shouldn't have assumed anything."
"Its fine Pink cheeks," Katsuki rolled his eyes and began treding up the stairs before looking back at Uraraka for one last time, "if you tell anyone about what just happened I'll tell Deku about your crush you got that?" Perhaps it was a bit harsh, but tonight had been embarrassing enough.
"Yes," she squeaked as they both headed to bed.
Eijirou had known he was gay for years. He supposed it was solidified in his mind when heard one of his middle school friends talking about one of his crushes. It had been Mina, "it's just when I look at her I get butterflies and I just can't get her out of my head," his friend had said. And Eijirou knew at that moment he could never feel like that towards a woman.
His first crush had been Takashi Narimiya. They had met at a summer camp in 4th year and Eijirou was head over heels for him in minutes. He was perhaps the coolest person Eijirou had ever met. Takashi's obsession with Crimson Riot had gotten Kirishima into him.
And Takashi had been openly bi. Well he didn't tell everyone but he didn't hide it, he talked about being bi and had made Eijirou feel accepted even though he hadn't completely come to terms with his own queer identity. But Eijirou didn't have a phone so after the summer camp ended and they haven't talked to each other since. Despite this Eijirou was still madly in love with him for 2 years after the camp.
His next crush was Hiroki Miike. They had met in gym class as first years in middle school and immediately hit it off. It took him months to realize he had feelings for him. But Miike had been straight. And Eijirou had been his wingman to help him get with his crush. But Eijirou had been hopelessly in love and despite his better judgment, Eijirou had confessed his feeling at the end of their first year. And Miike didn't talk to him the rest of middle school. At least he had had the decency to not out him to the school but Eijirou was heartbroken either way.
And that brings us to Eijirou's current crush. Bakugou Katsuki. Despite his fiery personality and overall disdain of all people. Eijirou had found a way to calm him, he was soup for Bakugous soul. But just like his last crush Bakugou was also straight. So he would simply have to wait for his feelings to fade. He wasn't going to make the same mistake he had left time.
Bakugou had gone to sleep late last night. Eijirou was next door so he could hear Bakugou through the thin UA dorm walls. He had gone to bed angry. Well angrier than usual. He had nearly blown up his bed in a fit of rage.
The day after Eijirou had gone to check in on Bakugou. "What do you want loser?" That was Bakugou for coming in.
Bakugou was sitting on his pillow in his lap and his signature growl on his face. "What do you want shitty hair?" He growled. Eijirou couldn't say he liked that nickname, but it just made when Bakugou said his real name more special.
"I was just checking in on you..."
"Why do you want to check in on me? Am I dying?"
"You just seemed kind of angry last night..."
"I'm always fucking angry." That was fair, but Eijirou would take any excuse to check in on Bakugou.
"Fair," Eijirou sighed, "can I stay, or are you gonna kick me out?" He asked though he had already taken a seat on the floor.
"I don't fucking care shitty hair."
"Eyy that rhymed," Bakugou rolled his eyes but Eijirou could see a hint of a smile tugging at the side of his cheek. Ei could look at that hint of a smile for the rest of his life and be content.
"The hell are you staring at?" Eijirou looked away hiding his blushing cheeks. "Did you hear about the new Crimson Riot documentary coming out?" Of course, Eijirou had. He already had it marked on his calendar.
"Yea, I'm super hyped, but from what I saw in the trailer they didn't get his costume completed right, he was wearing his third costume but it was in his 2nd costumes era"
"You know all of his of his costumes?" He asked in an almost insulting tone. Kirishima had learned nearly everything about Crimson Riot.
"Yeah well, I like him. Aren't you still obsessed with All might?"
"Yeah well, I don't know all of his costumes."
"Midoriya probably knows," Eijirou smirked. If he knew one thing about Bakugou it was that he hated losing to Midoriya.
"He has four costumes his young age, bronze age, silver age, and golden age. Each is influenced by the American flag."
"You liar," Kirishima laughed, "you do know, why'd you lie about that?"
"I didn't want to seem like the damn nerd," of course. Bakugou hated being like Midoriya almost as much as he hated Midoriya himself. Just as Eijirou was about to say something there was a knock at the door.
"Who is it?" Bakugou yelled, it was truly astounding how he managed to make every statement so filled with rage.
"It's Mina."
"What do you want raccoon eyes?"
"I just wanted to ask you something," Bakugou rolled his eyes, got up, and swung open the door. "What were you and Ochako fighting about last night?"
"You were fighting with Uraraka?" Eijirou asked, Bakugou fought with nearly anyone but he rarely ever talked to Uraraka much less fight. Mina looked at Eijirou she hadn't noticed him on the floor until now.
"We weren't fighting," Bakugou said rolling his eyes.
"Well you were yelling pretty loud, I couldn't make out the words but you sounded mad..."
"Well maybe I was just being loud," Bakugou said defensively, "and besides if it was a fight why would I tell you what it was about?" Mina seemed taken aback by this. And Eijirou was too, clearly whatever they had fought about Bakugou didn't want them to know.
"Well as long as everything's good with you two then I guess I'll be going," Mina said realizing she wasn't getting anywhere with Bakugou. Eiji waved goodbye awkwardly as Mina shut the door.
"What were you guys fighting about?" Eijirou asked knowing it wouldn't get him anywhere.
"None of your fucking business. Get out of my room" he yelled. And Eiji was on his way.
