Work Text:
Aizawa was shaken out of his slumber by a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“Good morning sunshine!” Hizashi leaned down to kiss him on the cheek. “It’s time to wake up!”
Aizawa groaned and folded his pillow over his head. “Five more minutes…”
“You said that half an hour ago, before I dropped Eri off at school,” his husband laughed, picking up the cat that was laying down on the bed so that he could peel the comforter off of him. This caused Aizawa to remove the pillow he was smothering himself with.
“‘Zashi! Mochi never cuddles with me, how dare you rip him away from me like that!” he said with an annoyed tone that was only half sarcastic.
“Sorry babe, class starts in fifteen. You gotta get up,” replied Hizashi.
Aizawa didn’t respond, instead closing his eyes and trying to go back to sleep. “I can make it in five.”
Hizashi sighed, making his way towards the door. “Oh well, I guess I’ll have to go tell Shinsou he gets to wake you up again…”
“Wait!” Being brainwashed wasn’t a pleasant experience at any time of the day, but it was especially awful to be brainwashed right when you woke up. “I’m getting up!”
“Ha! I knew that would work!”
“Betrayed by my own husband,” grumbled Aizawa, “How could you?”

“Can anyone tell me what they wrote for number twelve?”
Kirishima raised his hand. When Present Mic nodded at him, he stood up and read off his paper. “He saw his sister on the way to the store.”
Present Mic wrote what Kirishima had said on the board so that he could make corrections. “Very close Kirishima. The correct translation is ‘On the way to the store, he saw his sister,’” he wrote the corrected sentence on the board, then turned back to the class. “You see, when you misplace the modifier, it changes the message the reader receives. In Kirishima’s translation, it sounds like his sister is on the way to the store, not him. Good job though, sometimes even I make that mistake.”
Kirishima smiled a little.
“Alright, what about number-” Present Mic’s phone rang. He glanced at the ID, seeing that it was Aizawa. His husband knew he had class right now, if he was calling, it had to be urgent. “One second little listeners, I’m going to step out really quick and take this call.”
He closed the door and picked up the phone. “Hey babe, what’s up?”
He heard sniffling on the other side of the line. “Hey, hey, where are you? Should I come get you?”
There was an unintelligible mumble.
“I need you to speak up, okay honey?”
Another sniffle. “It’s Juniper. I went back to the apartment and…she was...” He heard crying and his heart broke. Juniper was their oldest cat. She had been sick for a few weeks, but from what the vet had said, she should have been able to pull through. Unfortunately, it sounds like that didn’t happen.
“It’s okay, you don’t need to say it. I’m on my way.”
Mic opened the door, rushing to get back home. “Alright, give me one second, babe. I’m getting my stuff and I’ll be right there.” He grabbed the chalk, quickly scribbling ‘Dismissed early, family emergency’ on the board.
“Yep, I’m on my way. Hey, hey, take a deep breath, everything’s going to be okay, tell me five things you can see… very good, four things you can feel…”
His voice faded as he got further away from the classroom, leaving a very confused class in their seats.
“Did… he just say babe?” asked Mina. “He has a girlfriend?”
Shinsou choked back a laugh.

About two weeks later, Mic burst into the apartment wearing his civilian clothes and hair in a bun, Eri right behind him.
“Shouta,” he said in a singsong voice, bounding over and kissing his husband on the cheek.
“Guess what we found on our way back home?”
“What is it?”
Hizashi frowned. “I said you have to guess, silly.”
Aizawa rolled his eyes. “Did you find… this little monster?” he teased, picking up Eri and turning her upside down, causing her to burst into giggles.
“Close,” Hizashi chuckled. “Take a look at this!” He pulled his hands from around his back, revealing a tiny, matted ball of fluff. Aizawa set Eri down, leaning forward in his seat to get a better look.
“Is that…?”
“It’s a kitten!” Eri blurted.
“May I?” Aizawa extended his hands, and Hizashi set the flea-ridden kitten in his hands. “Holy hell, this thing is dirty…” he mumbled, ignoring the ‘language’ that Hizashi threw his way.
“Hey! Be nice to Tuxedo Mask!” Eri chided.
“Oh great, you already named him,” Aizawa deadpanned.
“How could I not? Look at him!”
Now that Aizawa took a good look, he could see how Eri landed on Tuxedo Mask. There were two rings of black around its eyes, and the markings on the chest made it look like he was wearing a little suit.
“Can we keep him?” Eri begged, Hizashi copying Eri’s pose by clasping his hands in front of him and pouting.
Aizawa thought for a moment. On one hand, he knew that he had no intention of saying no to Eri and his husband, but on the other hand, if he said yes right away, Eri would know she could practically get away with anything. He counted to thirty in his head before nodding.
“Alright, Tuxedo Mask can stay. “

“Good morning class,” Aizawa yawned as he walked into the room. “You guys know the drill, work on any homework you have while I take a nap.”
Mina raised her hand.
“Yes Mina, do you have a question?” He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Yeah, um, you have a…” Mina pointed at his capture weapon.
Aizawa sighed again. “Yes, I am aware of the cat in my capture weapon. This is Tuxedo Mask,” he said, adjusting his capture weapon so that the entire class could see the kitten curled up in it. “Apparently he has pretty bad separation anxiety, so he’s joining me for classes today.”
“He’s adorable!” Ochako cooed, watching as the kitten started playing around with her teacher’s scarf.
“Did you come up with that name all by yourself?” asked Kirishima, “I didn’t know you were a Sailor Moon fan!”
“Actually, Eri named him. She-” he heard a snap and a clink, looking down to see that Tuxedo Mask had pulled the necklace that held his rings out from under his shirt and broken it. “Ah, shit. Alright everybody, keep your eyes out for a pair of rings.”
The class looked for a few minutes, and then Tsuyu picked something up. “Like these, ribbit?” asked Tsuyu, holding out her open palm, revealing two rings, one of them silver with a small diamond and the other a simple gold band, and a broken chain.
Aizawa nearly started crying out of relief. “Yes, thank you.” He accepted the jewelry. “Momo, would you mind making a simple chain necklace?” Aizawa threaded the rings onto the chain, fastening it around his neck and tucking it under his shirt, making sure that Tuxedo Mask wasn’t able to play with it again.
“Tuxedo Mask, that, wasn’t very nice of you,” he said, scratching the kitten’s chin.
“You’re…” Midoriya trailed off.
“Yes, I’m married. No, I won’t tell you who I’m married to. Now, let’s go over today’s announcements...”

Class 1-A was talking amongst themselves when Aizawa walked into class the next day, Tuxedo Mask on his heels, but they immediately shut up when they saw that their teacher had entered.
“Okay, I’ll bite. What the hell were you guys talking about?” He already knew, but he wanted to hear them say it.
Mina started giggling, and Ochako turned red.
“They were talking about who they think you’re married to.” supplied Iida. “I didn’t participate, of course.”
“Of course,” replied Aizawa sarcastically. Iida was one of the few who already knew about his marriage, considering his older brother was Hizashi’s best man. “Shinsou?” Hitoshi raised his eyebrows, looking back at his guardian.
Aizawa groaned, “It is really that bad? Just tell me.”
“Midnight.”
He groaned again, sinking further into his chair.
“So, I’m guessing we got it wrong?” asked Denki.
“Listen guys, even if you guess it correctly, I won’t tell you. It could jeopardize my status as an underground hero if our relationship became public, which would also endanger this class.”
Disappointed sighs echoed throughout the classroom.

Eraserhead removed the final villain’s quirk, using his capture weapon to throw them aside. Why couldn’t class trips ever go smoothly for him?
“1-A! Head count! Everybody over here!” he called.
Everybody ran over to be accounted for, but it was immediately obvious to Aizawa who they were missing. “Where is Present Mic?” his voice was laced with worry. That worry turned to panic when everybody shrugged their shoulders.
“Mic! Mic!” he started running around the battle zone, yelling as loudly as he could. He heard a cough behind him.
Present Mic was partially buried under some rubble. “Eraser?”
Aizawa thought back to Oboro, then shook his head. He refused to lose another one. “Uravity! Over here!”
Ochako ran over as quickly as possible, levitating the rubble so that Aizawa could pick up Mic. He scooped up his husband, checking him over for damage. He definitely had a broken leg, it was twisted and bloodied and poking out at odd angles. Izuku almost threw up when he saw it.
His shoulder was dislocated, and his nose was broken, but that seemed to be the extent of the damage, thank god.
“Oh my god, Hizashi!” He pulled Mic into the gentlest hug he could manage, then picked Mic up bridal style.
“Good mornin’ sunshine!” Mic’s words were slurred. He definitely had a concussion.
“Yes, hello Mic. We have to get you to Recovery Girl, okay?”
Mic furrowed his brow. “Why would I need Recombery Girl?” Aizawa bit back a laugh at Mic’s poor pronunciation. “Because you’re hurt.”
“Oh, okay.”

Aizawa sighed, resting his head on his desk. He thought about texting Hizashi, who was still in the infirmary. He decided against it, with the reasoning that his husband needed his rest. The entire class was buzzing for the weekend, discussing plans and whatnot. He had given up on reining them in ten minutes ago, instead letting them chat amongst themselves.
“Aizawa!”
He lifted his head. “Yes Midoriya?”
“We were wondering if you had any plans tonight? Some of us wanted to go to the aquarium, and we thought it might be best to have a chaperone, considering all the villain attacks lately.”
He thought for a moment. “Sure. Meet me in the lobby at four-thirty.”
Four fifteen rolled around, and Eri had practically dragged Aizawa to the lobby early to meet with the class. The ocean was Eri’s ‘thing’ right now, and as soon as Aizawa let it slip that he was chaperoning a trip to the aquarium, he knew that there was no way Eri was staying home.
Students started trickling in at four twenty-five, and by the time the clock hit four-thirty, everybody was accounted for. Aizawa, despite his student’s protests, paid for everybody’s tickets.
Eri immediately skipped to the first room, the rest of the class trailing behind her. It was a coral reef exhibit, the main tank sitting on the back wall, with smaller tanks dispersed among other displays around the room. Eri started running around the room, pointing out different fish and telling whoever would listen fun facts about them.
“Mina! Did you know that coral is an animal, not a plant?”
“Hey Midoriya, did you know that coral reefs have been here since the dinosaurs?”
Aizawa felt a tug on his sleeve. “Papa, did you know that a quarter of fish species live in coral reefs?”
“A lot of the fish that live in coral reefs are flat, see?” she pointed out an angelfish to Kirishima and Bakugou. “This is so that they can swim around in tight spaces better, but fish that live in the open ocean are usually bigger, because they need to be strong to travel so much!”
“Wow, you sure do know a lot about fish, Eri!” Kirishima said, patting her on the head.
“Yeah! Dad got me a big book all about the ocean for my birthday!”
Kirishima and Bakugou looked at eachother. Eri ran off to tell Sero something about the tank he was looking at, and Bakugou raised an eyebrow.
“I thought she called Aizawa-”
“Papa!” Eri’s voice drifted over to the two, followed by a lecture about some misconception Aizawa had about coral.
“What’s with the weird faces you two?” asked Mina, who just walked over to them with Denki and Sero.
Kirishima motioned for them to come a little closer. “Okay, Eri said something about her ‘dad’ giving her a book about the ocean.”
“I thought she called Aizawa papa?” asked Sero.
Bakugou nodded. “She does.”
Kaminari’s eyes widened in understanding. “So that means that Eri has two dads! So Aizawa is married to a guy!”
“And it’s probably a pro hero, or at least someone in the public eye, since he said that revealing his relationship could jeopardize his underground hero status,” said Kirishima.
“Oh my glob, what if it’s All Might!” Mina exclaimed.
Bakugou gave her one of his famous “you’re a fucking idiot” looks. “Aizawa’s not exactly quiet about fucking hating All Might.”
“Exactly! Think about it, it’s a classic enemies-to-lovers story!” Mina dramatically pretended to swoon.
Bakugou flicked her in the forehead. “I don’t think so Sour Patch.”
“Maybe it’s Present Mic?” Sero offered.
Everybody laughed.
“I guess it’s possible, they do seem close,” Denki said after the laughter died down. “But they’re, like, polar opposites, and I’m pretty sure Mic is straight.”
The Bakusquad spent the rest of the aquarium visit debating who they thought it was.

Aizawa refused to believe that he was going soft. However, this year’s class was special. He hated to admit it, but he was pretty attached to these kids. They had gone through so much together, and he thought that they deserved to know. Not only did they deserve to know, he wanted them to know.
He knew how difficult it was for him and Hizashi, growing up in world where there weren’t any openly queer heros, and how much knowing that queer heros existed could have helped him when he was younger.
Hizashi was, of course, overjoyed to hear that he was willing to tell them. They decided that instead of planning anything in particular, they would just come out when the time felt right.
That time, as it turned out, was at the 1-A dance. It was a small affair, held in the common area of the dorms, just to celebrate how far they’d come in the short time they’d spent together. It was really just a regular class party that everybody dressed up for, but after seeing how ecstatic Eri was when she found out there would be a dress up party, he knew he had to go.
Aizawa spent most of the night hovering near the back with Nemuri while Hizashi was on DJ duty with Jirou. He danced a few times with Eri, but she was running around asking everybody for dances too. She even got Bakugou to dance with her, don’t ask him how she roped him into that one.
As the night started to wind down, the songs started to get slower as well. He had put Eri to bed in Midoriya’s room half an hour ago, and he was honestly ready to head home too. All the social activity had worn him down, and was getting a little overwhelmed.
Hizashi must have noticed his discomfort , because after the current song ended, he announced the final dance of the night. Aizawa let out a sigh of relief and started to head off to grab Eri, but he stopped in his tracks when the first chords of the final song started playing. Hizashi was walking towards him with that stupid sappy smile on his face.
I text a postcard, sent to you, did it go through?
Sending all my love to you
Last Night on Earth by Green Day, an American band that Hizashi was obsessed with and had dragged Shouta into. It played for their first dance. Hizashi did a half bow in front of him, extending a hand. “May I have this dance?”
You are the moonlight of my life, every night
Giving all my love to you
Aizawa accepted, despite the fact that everybody was watching them and being the center of attention made him extremely uncomfortable. Hizashi pulled him to his chest, gently swaying with him to the music.
My beating heart belongs to you
I walked for miles ‘til I found you
“Ugh, you’re such a sap, ‘Zashi,” Aizawa said quietly. Hizashi laughed and spun him around.
I’m here to honor you
“Yeah, but you love me,” he responded. He heard several gasps from the students, but they sounded far away. He was more focused on Hizashi than them.
If I lose everything in the fire
I’m sending all my love to you
“Sometimes I wonder why,” Shouta quipped dryly.
With every breath that I am worth here on Earth
I’m sending all my love to you
Hizashi was singing along with the track now. Aizawa rested his head on his shoulder.
So if you dare to second guess, you can rest
Assured that all my love’s for you
As the song wrapped up, they pulled apart slightly, and Hizashi planted a kiss on Aizawa’s forehead.
“Ha! I fucking knew it! Kami, you owe me 2,000 yen!” Sero yelled suddenly, which snapped Aizawa back to reality. His cheeks went bright red, and he hid his face in Hizashi’s shirt. Hizashi kissed him on the top of his head and laughed at his husband’s embarrassment, which earned him a (mostly) playful elbow in the ribs.
Hizashi yelped, but kept on laughing. “Ah! I can’t help it Shou! You’re cute when you’re flustered!”
Aizawa pulled away and glared at his husband. “Don’t call me cute in front of the kids, if I lose my intimidation factor they will never listen to me again.”
“Yeah, the intimidation factor already flew out the window when you practically swooned over Mic-sensei,” Mina giggled.
“Wait, so is Mic-sensei gay?” asked Hagakure.
“I swing any way the wind takes me little listeners!”
“You’re pansexual? Pog! Me too!” Kaminari exclaimed.
Yamada smiled at his student’s enthusiasm. “Close! I’m panromantic! Shouta and I are both ace.”
“That’s hella manly!” Kirishima said loudly, which was followed by an echo of agreement among the students. Aizawa winced a little at all the noise and leaned on Yamada.
“Right. We can talk more about this on Monday,” Mic said. “Shouta’s social battery is almost dead, so we’re going to head out. Hitoshi, be home by twelve. Be good for Nemuri!”
As they were walking back to the apartment, Eri fast asleep on Aizawa’s shoulder, Hizashi held tight onto his hand.
“Hey Shou?”
“Hm?”
“I love you.”
Aizawa smiled and lifted their joined hands to his lips, kissing the back of Hizashi’s hand. “Love you too.”
