Work Text:
Warmth spread through Jungkook's body as he hugged Bitna and felt the knot in his shoulders, sore from carrying heavy camera equipment slowly fading away. Considering how big this project he was working on, to be able to come home in the evening was a miracle both for his sanity and bank account because the price for a babysitter was certainly not cheap. Being a single dad with a job schedule that constantly varies each month, even though sometimes Jungkook had times when he was free for a few days, when a big project came, it was always tiring and could take almost all his time of the week. Especially with a toddler who still needs more attention than most kids.
“What did you eat today, Bitna?”
“Banana!” Bitna cheered, followed with giggles when Jungkook kissed him under her chin. “That tickles.”
Bitna seemed to be adjusting well to their fairly new apartment. Jungkook had moved here four months ago but the chance to introduce himself properly to his neighbors sadly needed to be postponed. Not that they had different schedules but because the project barely allowed him to be home at all, let alone make something for his neighbors when he first moved in.
“Bitna, be a good girl and wait for daddy to shower while playing with these, okay?” Bitna nodded and trotted behind Jungkook, who was bringing her dolls to their bedroom. “I’ll be quick, ‘kay?”
“Promise?"
“Promise, baby.”
For a moment, Jungkook stood there, watching his daughter whisper a conversation with her dolls. When Bitna was born, it was a huge surprise, but a pleasant one indeed after he spent some time with her. He always thought that being thrown with the big responsibility of raising a child right after graduating was an impossible thing to do, especially alone. Even if the present Jungkook was sent to the past once again, he would never change his decision of raising Bitna. He learned how to prioritize someone else before himself and other skills he never thought he needed this soon in his life.
One more thing he learned from raising Bitna was cooking. It was not like he was a bad cook, per se, he just didn't have time to enhance his skills between his packed uni and internship schedule. But after Bitna started to eat food, he had no one but himself to depend on feeding her.
They went straight to the kitchen once he was done showering. Bitna wasn't old enough to help much with cooking, but Jungkook tried to include her with simpler tasks like choosing her own bowls and spoon to use.
"One serving of beef cabbage soup, ready in your favorite yellow bowl, princess."
"Thank you, daddy." Bitna said politely. Jungkook smiled and patted his daughter's head before he placed the rice bowl in front of her.
"What did you do today while I'm gone?" Jungkook adjusted his chair as he sat down and the chair scraped against the floor. The sound made Bitna flinch a little bit and caused her to spill her soup. "Oops."
"A bit messy." Bitna giggled. "I draw flowers and ladybug!"
"Drew," Jungkook corrected while smiling.
"I drew flowers and ladybug!" Bitna said once again. "But the ladybug is purple."
"Oh, why is that?"
"My red pencil color is gone, daddy."
A knock came from their door which made Jungkook stop midway of scooping his soup. It was kinda weird since he didn't invite anyone nor did he order food. Could it be the neighbors? But Jungkook hasn't even met any of them properly yet.
As the door swung open, a man dressed in a suit came into Jungkook's line of vision. He stood there with his lidded eyes locked to the floor and his skin looked as pale as a porcelain door. Right before the man speaks, Jungkook thought he was in trouble regarding his taxes or worse , was he in a crime scene? But all his speculations were proven wrong.
"I forgot my keys, Joon-ah."
"Excuse me?"
The man probably noticed that he didn't hear the voice he expected to hear and snapped up, finally looking right into Jungkook's eyes. His eyes widened almost comically when he noticed he probably got the apartment mixed up.
"God, this is 408?" Jungkook nodded as he saw the sleepiness from the person in front of him disappeared within seconds. "I was so tired I could barely open my eyes. I'm sorry I got the wrong apartment."
"It's alright, it happens."
"I'm your neighbor, 409, by the way. We haven't met properly."
"I don't think we have met at all." Jungkook chuckled as he extended his hand, offering the man to shake his hand. "Jungkook."
The man grasped Jungkook's hand tightly and to be fair, Jungkook was a bit surprised to see how big this man's hand was compared to him even though in general size, Jungkook is bigger than him. "Yoongi. Nice to finally meet my new neighbor, Jungkook-ssi. I'm sorry again for the mistake." Yoongi blushed a little bit, embarrassed because of his silly mistake.
"It's no problem. Have a pleasant night, Yoongi-ssi."
They bowed to each other and then Yoongi walked a few steps to his apartment door. Someone quickly opened the door for him after he knocked a few times, probably the joon-ah he mentioned a few minutes ago. Jungkook smiled politely one more time before Yoongi disappeared behind the closed door.
When Jungkook came back to check on Bitna, she kind of did well eating her food alone, except there were grains of rice all over her clothes and spilled soup on the table.
"Wow, you're actually getting better eating by yourself, Bitna." Bitna clapped when Jungkook praised her. "Should daddy help you finish the food?"
To get her used to using a spoon, Jungkook always made sure to let Bitna eat by herself before he helped her finish by hand-feeding the food. Being a father was a lot of work, sometimes even more tiring than Jungkook's actual job. But it was worth it to see his daughter eat with gusto and smile widely with each praise he told her. Everyday is not always sunshine and rainbows though, and to find out that his neighbor seemed to be a busy businessman, Jungkook only hoped he would not mind hearing Bitna’s tantrum from time to time.
---
Jungkook did say he hoped his neighbor won’t be disturbed too much in case Bitna was having a tantrum, but what he didn’t expect was it happened the other way around. Bitna had been in a bad mood since dinner time because she was not happy to eat five broccolis when Jungkook promised her only three just before he served the food. It was hard enough to put her to sleep and it got worse when the neighbor's screams woke her up and she started crying.
“What is it baby? Were you surprised by the scream?” Jungkook scooped Bitna up and carried her around the bedroom. “Daddy promises you’re safe, okay? They are just having fun.” Apparently what Jungkook said made his daughter cry even louder. Bitna said something after that but was muffled due to her burying her face on Jungkook's neck. "What is it, Bitna?"
"I want to have fun too but I woke up."
To be fair, Jungkook had no idea what Bitna meant but he played along anyway. “You had fun while sleeping but they woke you up?”
“I was chasing a cat and— and I almost caught it.” The last word came out as a wail and Bitna continued crying with her little hands fisted, holding tightly to Jungkook’s shirt.
Jungkook at last, got the whole reason why Bitna started crying. It was kind of funny but he couldn’t help but felt bad for her since her good dream was interrupted. “Why don't you try to get to sleep again? Maybe the cat is still waiting for you to catch it.”
“No, daddy.” Jungkook stumbled back a little when Bitna’s legs were kicking around mid-air. “What if someone catches it before me?”
It was only a few days ago since someone knocked on his door so it was still a bit unfamiliar to hear someone knock on his door, especially late at night. Could it be that his neighbor came to complain about the noise?
An apology was already on the tip of his tongue, but the sight of Yoongi, now with silky blue pajamas on and hair let down instead of slicking back like the other day got him tongue-tied. Someone was behind him, looking nervous as if he was trying to hide but failed since he’s taller— way taller than Yoongi.
“I’m here to apologize,” Yoongi said. “Again,” He added after a while.
“We apologize.” The man behind Yoongi said, emphasizing the word ‘we’ in case Jungkook didn't get it.
Jungkook paused and tried to think of any reason why they would apologize until he recalled an important thing. They were the ones who screamed loudly and woke Bitna up from his sleep. The good thing though, their sudden appearance on Jungkook’s door distracted Bitna and her wailing had turned into tiny hiccups.
“Ah, no it’s alright. Bitna was just surprised since it was already her bed time and she’s sleepy.”
“Still, we feel bad. We’ll make sure to tone it down.” The taller man laughed awkwardly, his gaze was focused on anything other than Jungkook’s eyes. “My bad. I’m Namjoon. You must be Jungkook-ssi whose apartment almost got stolen by Yoongi hyung.” He said, finally looking at Jungkook. Yoongi elbowed Namjoon but he seemed to not mind at all.
Judging by that interaction alone, Jungkook could see how close Yoongi and Namjoon are. Whatever their relationship was, it must be nice living together with someone close, Jungkook thought. “Nice to meet you, Namjoon-ssi. Thankfully Yoongi-ssi quickly stopped dozing off when he saw me.”
“I was lucky you were not a douche— I mean, not a rude person.” Jungkook smiled when Yoongi decided to change his wording, considerate of the fact that a toddler was listening to their conversation.
“Bitna, they said sorry for waking you up. Do you forgive them?”
“It’s okay, I’m not upset anymore.” Bitna said shyly.
“Sorry, Bitna.” Both Namjoon and Yoongi said at the same time. They giggled fondly when Bitna turned her head and hid her face again.
“If you need help with anything, we’ll be happy to lend a hand, Jungkook-ssi.” Perhaps it was because Jungkook's previous neighbors were an old couple that needed his help more than Jungkook needed help from them, the help Namjoon offered somewhat touched him.
“Thank you. I appreciate that a lot, Namjoon-ssi.”
“Well, if it’s okay, we would like to get back watching the Grammy before we miss another performance.”
“Sure, Yoongi-ssi. Have a great night.”
“You too, Jungkook-ssi.” Yoongi smiled again. “Good night Bitna, sleep well.”
A new start is always needed throughout our lives and the recent decision he took to move to a better living area was definitely something Jungkook and Bitna needed. Not only Yoongi and Namjoon were nice, but they also looked around his age so maybe eventually they could be friends, right?
---
Weekend came in a blink of an eye this week and Jungkook wasn't sure if that was a great thing or not since he was drowned with work during weekdays and perhaps, lost track of time. If Jungkook wanted to be selfish, it would be amazing to spend the two precious rest days rolling around on his bed and do nothing productive. But it wouldn't be fair for Bitna to just stay inside all week, away from the sun, and an actual cat to chase. So here they are, walking side by side at the nearest park, following the path that leads them to the other side of the area.
"If you're tired, tell daddy okay? I'll carry you."
"I'm fine daddy!" Well, Jungkook should probably enjoy the chance of not having to carry Bitna around here and there for now.
It was pretty windy outside, hence why he dressed Bitna in thick clothes and a jacket that was actually still too big for her. Jungkook giggled when he saw Bitna waddling with an oversized pink jacket that she picked herself before they left the house.
"Daddy! Picnic!" Bitna pointed at the people who were already sitting on the grass, eating their snacks and relaxed under the clouded sun.
"Should we use our new picnic blanket, Bitna?"
"Yes, please!"
If cuteness could kill, Jungkook should've dropped dead the second Bitna flopped on top of their picnic blanket and fell on her butt as she lost her balance because of the jacket.
"You okay, baby?" Bitna only giggled and proceeded to lay down, face up to the sky, limbs spread like a starfish. "Wanna look at what shaped the clouds made today before we eat our snacks?"
"I found a rabbit!"
"Wow that's quick." Jungkook said as he laid down beside Bitna, looking for other clouds with familiar shapes. This activity happened not once or twice and quickly turned into a competition between him and Bitna. Jungkook was always very competitive and it seems like Bitna was one too. When she lost to Jungkook, Bitna would eventually mention random animals and made up something as silly as body parts to win. Of course, Jungkook would always let her win (not that he's whipped for his daughter).
"Oh hey, that looks like a wing."
"Where is it daddy?"
"There, can you see it?" Jungkook pointed at the clouds he was talking about and Bitna gasped.
"An angel must be hiding there!"
"You think so?" Jungkook chuckled. "Why are they hiding?"
A few beats of silence came before Bitna answered while giggling. "They're playing hide and seek."
"Do you want to play with them?"
"But I don't know how to fly, daddy."
"Should I throw you up to the sky, then?" Bitna turned into a giggling mess even before Jungkook's hand reached her sides. Since he couldn't scoop her up, Jungkook settled with only tickling his daughter and they both turned into a giggling mess in the middle of the park.
"I'm hungry now." Bitna said breathlessly after Jungkook stopped tickling her.
"Laughing made you hungry?"
Jungkook prepared something simple for Bitna. Sandwiches with smoked beef and cheese, one of Bitna's favorites. Actually, she loves most foods Jungkook gave her except broccoli. Bitna excitedly reached for the sandwich but Jungkook quickly stopped her and gave her a wet tissue instead.
"Gotta clean your hands first, Bitna."
That's when Jungkook saw Namjoon and Yoongi come from across the park though they didn't seem to notice Jungkook was there. Both of them sat pretty far away from his spot with Bitna.
His first impression of Yoongi was really different from now. The sleek and formal look that somewhat intimidated Jungkook at first was nowhere to be seen with the Yoongi he saw right now. Hands buried into the pocket of his padded jacket, hair fluffy and soft, it covered his forehead neatly. Yoongi looked like he was dragged outside right after waking up while Namjoon looked enthusiastic, showing off the book he brought with him. Namjoon was the first one to sit and Yoongi followed— not exactly to sit, but he laid down and quite literally used Namjoon's lap as a pillow and closed his eyes just like that.
Jungkook didn't realize he was staring at his neighbor until Bitna yanked on his sleeve to ask for a drink. Even just the thought of getting caught staring by them made Jungkook embarrassed and awkward.
"Drink slowly, Bitna." Jungkook purposely changed his sitting position so his back is facing Namjoon and Yoongi.
"Daddy I want to see ducks!"
"There are no ducks here, Bitna. The ducks we saw two weeks ago were at the other park."
"So no duckies here?"
"I'm sorry, but no, baby." Jungkook moved Bitna's choppy bangs to the back, which made the little girl whine in protest. "If daddy's free, I'll take you there again, alright?"
"Promise?" Bitna raised her pinky almost as high as to Jungkook's nose and Jungkook giggled while he intertwined his pinky with Bitna.
"Promise."
Jungkook thought the distant voice of someone saying ah, yoongi hyung, wait for me was just something his brain made up but when he looked back, he saw Yoongi was already walking towards him while Namjoon staggered, trying to catch up.
Yoongi smiled at him and Jungkook smiled back, awkwardly. He has never been very good with new people and it took some time for him to warm up to them.
"Hello, Jungkook-ssi." Yoongi said once he was close enough for Jungkook to hear him. "Hi, Bitna." He crouched down, tried to greet Bitna before she hid behind Jungkook.
"Sorry, Jungkook-ssi. Hyung was bored of hearing me gushing over this boring book so he ran off." Namjoon showed him the book that has English title on it.
"You can just call me Jungkook, uh…"
"Hyung." Yoongi said. "Um, I mean, you definitely look younger than us, so?"
"Um, yeah, I'm 24."
"Then we're your hyung." Namjoon sounded almost proud when he said that.
"Bitna, say hi to uncle Namjoon and Yoongi."
"Hello." Whispered Bitna before she was back to hiding behind Jungkook.
"I hope you don't mind us crashing your date with Bitna." Jungkook frantically shook his head and offered Yoongi and Namjoon to sit with him and Bitna. "Yoongi hyung saw you and just ran off before I could notice where he was going."
"It's okay, right Bitna? The more the merrier."
Bitna nodded, still shy around Namjoon and Yoongi. "It's okay."
Somehow the cold wind became more bearable with Yoongi and Namjoon around him. Either it was because more body heat now surrounded him or Jungkook was quickly drowned into the conversation going between them, his mind just kind of forgot the cold temperature.
After some coaxing, Bitna stopped hiding behind him and challenged Namjoon to the same game she played with Jungkook before.
"Be prepared, hyung. She's competitive for a three year old."
"Elephant!"
"Oops, I need to start looking." Namjoon said as he was surprised Bitna already found one.
"Do you come here often?" Yoongi asked, shifting Jungkook's attention from his daughter and Namjoon to Yoongi.
"Not really. Just when I don't have work."
"Busy, huh? What kind of work do you do?"
"Videographer." Jungkook said shyly. He felt a bit worried when Yoongi said nothing and only stared at him with wide eyes. "Hyung?"
"Sorry. I was just amazed." Yoongi said. "Never had a friend who's a videographer."
"Really? I thought all businessmen have any kind of—" Jungkook stopped, realizing he just made not just one, but two assumptions about Yoongi.
Yoongi shok his head when he saw Jungkook's panicked face. "You guessed it right, Jungkook-ah. I am a businessman and I do know a videographer but not really a friend, you know?"
Did Yoongi just imply that he was his friend? Already?
"Right, I guess as a videographer myself, I don't have a businessman friend even though I've worked for a lot of companies."
"Right? Some people are just meant to be co-worker." Yoongi's eyes moved to Namjoon and Jungkook noticed the now visible faint smile on Yoongi's face. "Sometimes we made friends because of unexpected things." It was easy to guess. Yoongi was probably talking about how he and Namjoon became friends or more. They looked so close, Jungkook wouldn't be surprised if they were actually together.
"Pororo! A thumb! Buttons!" Bitna suddenly screamed, mentioning random objects while her finger pointed up to the sky.
Jungkook tried to hold his laugh but he failed miserably when Namjoon looked so confused, with what was going on. "That's a sign you just beat her, hyung."
"Huh? Really?"
"She always starts to mention random things when she loses. She hates losing."
"Joon-ah. At least let the kid win." Namjoon looked even more flustered after Yoongi teased him.
"I'm sorry?"
"No, it's okay." If they were close, Jungkook would've joined Yoongi on teasing Namjoon because the face he made was honestly adorable.
Bitna crawled to Jungkook's lap and flopped there, she sighed as she buried her face on Jungkook's chest.
"You're tired?" Perhaps it was because she had a lot of fun so her energy drained out pretty quickly today.
"Maybe we should all hang out again later with your… partner too." Namjoon said, unsure of what to say since he didn't want to assume.
"Oh, no I don't have one." Jungkook said and he quickly interrupted Namjoon again before he apologized for the second time. "It's okay, really. I'm a happy single dad."
"Well then you're doing amazing raising her, Jungkook."
"Thank you, Yoongi hyung." A miracle, Jungkook would say. "Didn't know I would have her so soon though."
"Namjoon loves kids too. He always wanted to be a dad."
"I do, actually. Kids are cute."
"Maybe you should try babysitting Bitna for practice Joon-ah."
"If Jungkook needs help then I'll see what I can do." Namjoon looked fondly at Bitna who appeared to be half asleep right now. "Not cooking though, that's hyung's speciality."
It felt nice to have a friend who loves kids around him because it would be easier for Jungkook to be around them and not worry about them not liking Bitna or getting annoyed by a toddler running around them when they hang out with him and Bitna. It did get pretty exhausting to watch, but at least Jungkook knew they would love her anyway.
"You're okay with carrying her home, Jungkook?"
"Yeah, it's alright. She's not that heavy."
Considering how Jungkook was partly immobile because he was carrying a sleeping toddler, Namjoon and Yoongi helped him tidy up everything. They even insisted on carrying his belongings even when Jungkook protested.
"You walked all the way here?" Namjoon noticed when they walked past the nearby parking lot and continued on walking.
"Yeah, it's not that far away from the apartment after all."
"Yeah, but Yoongi hyung still complained about it. It's only a ten minute walk."
"That's because you dragged me outside right after I woke up from a nap, Joon."
"No, you'll still complain even when you're not half asleep."
The banter was pretty funny to Jungkook and kinda nostalgic in a way. It reminded him of his time at uni and his friends that were now in different parts of the country. Besides, after having Bitna, he didn't have much time to socialize and have drinks with other people after work. He simply came back home, cooked dinner, and put Bitna to sleep and the cycle repeated. It could be easier if he had a partner but it didn't work out with Bitna's mother nor did it work out with any of his dates in the past so Jungkook settled with being a single dad at least for now.
"You can leave my stuff in front of the door, hyung. I'll just get back to get it once I put Bitna on the bed."
"And risk your stuff to get stolen? We'll come inside to put it if you don't mind." Yoongi knew Jungkook did that to be polite, but both him and Namjoon were not having it.
When they stepped inside, Jungkook realized it was actually the first time someone ever came into his apartment other than the babysitter. Now to think about it, he looked like a pretty lonely guy. Though Jungkook preferred a tired single dad over lonely.
"Thank you, hyung. It was fun."
"Then we should hang out again sometimes. Yoongi hyung and I are usually at home."
"Oh? You work from home?"
"Joon is an online slash private tutor so he usually teaches at home. I managed the business from home most of the time too."
"That's nice. On the other hand, I'm always outside."
"I know we said this already, but don't hesitate to ask us for help, okay?" Yoongi reminded him, exactly like what he said the first time.
"Sure, hyung. I'll keep that in mind."
"Okay, see you next time, Jungkook-ah"
Namjoon and Yoongi left, bidding their last goodbye before they closed the door behind them. Jungkook smiled to himself, feeling a little bit giddy after spending a good time with friends after a long time. He couldn't help but look forward to next time they'll hang out together.
---
Ten past fifteen and his call to the babysitter still went into the voice mails. Jungkook had to be on the set in half an hour and he didn't have time to wait for another ten minutes or else he might be late. He paced around his living room and frantically looked at the time while calling the babysitter once again. Still no answer.
His hair was supposed to be neatly combed but it turned into a tangled mess as he fisted his hair, frustrated. There was no way he could bring a toddler who needed full supervision at work, outside and near a road on top of it all. He couldn't just leave Bitna inside the car too, right?
"Daddy, why are you still here?"
"Because your babysitter hasn't arrived, Bitna. I can't leave you just yet."
Another five minutes, and that was it. Jungkook would have to contact the other team and his client that he'll be late because something was holding him back at home. Definitely not a pleasant way to start working with someone, but this was unavoidable.
His phone dings right before he was about to unlock it. It was from the babysitter that was supposed to be here half an hour ago.
I'm sorry I need to cancel.
It was all Jungkook needed to read to see what the message was going. He didn't even bother to read the rest of the message. Okay, now what should he do? Looking for another babysitter wasn't possible in such a short amount of time and the option of taking Bitna to work had been eliminated before.
Then Jungkook remembered about Namjoon and Yoongi. They did say he could ask them for help, but would it be alright to ask them now?
"Bitna, remember uncle Yoongi and Namjoon?"
"Park?"
"Correct. We were at the park with them the other day." Jungkook started to gather his stuff. He didn't have any choice or time to overthink whether it would be alright to ask for their help so suddenly. "Since the babysitter couldn't come, you'll play with the uncles until I get home. Is that alright?"
"Okay."
"Good girl." Jungkook sighed in relief. "Now let's go to their apartment. It's next door."
Jungkook knocked twice on the door, he tried not to knock too loud as he was slightly agitated when they took so long to get to the door.
"Oh, Jungkook."
"Hey hyung." Jungkook was glad to see Namjoon was home. "I know this is so sudden, but I need your help."
"Sure, what is it? Do you want to come in?"
"No, I'm actually running late. Uh, so… Bitna's babysitter cancelled on me in such short notice and I couldn't find any substitutes, so..." Jungkook felt breathless as he was talking as fast as he could to explain the situation. "Would you mind taking care of Bitna until I get home? I'll probably be back before dinner time. I'm so sorry."
"Hey, it's alright. It sucks when people cancel on you at the last minute. Yoongi just woke up and is still in the shower but I'll let him know."
"Thank you so much. I promise I'll pay you."
"No, there's no need to pay us, Jungkook-ah."
"Bitna, be nice okay? If you want to go potty, tell them okay? If you're hungry or thirsty, ask them nicely." God, Jungkook would be late if he should explain everything now.
"Give me your phone. I'll give you my number so you can send me the details later."
"Right." Jungkook almost dropped his phone when he gave it to Namjoon.
"This is a spare key to the apartment. Her toys and clothes to change if needed, are all there so just go in okay, hyung?"
"Alright, Jungkook. Hey, breath okay." Namjoon needed to remind Jungkook to slow down.
"Sorry, it's a big project so I need to be on time."
"No problem, now go before you're actually late."
"Okay, Bitna, daddy needs to go to work, okay?" Jungkook crouched down to look at his daughter in the eyes. "I'll be back even before you have the chance to miss me, hm? I love you."
"Love you too, daddy." Bitna didn't forget to kiss Jungkook's cheeks, like she always did before Jungkook went to work.
Thankfully Bitna woke up in a good mood and it had stayed like that until now. No tantrum and no crying even when Jungkook left. Jungkook, though, still worries about her even though he knew Bitna was in good hands and that Namjoon and Yoongi would take care of her just fine.
As if the universe knew his hectic morning, they gave him some mercy. No traffic held him back and he safely arrived at the set just on time. He quickly sent Namjoon the details and things to remember while Bitna was with them. Hopefully, she would not give his hyung a hard time.
---
It was around 3 PM when Jungkook got an update from Namjoon. A video of Bitna dancing to a song Jungkook doesn't recognize.
Namjoon Hyung
She loves dancing, huh?
Jungkook didn't even care if people started to look at him funny as he was smiling at his phone. He replayed the video over and over again to the point that Bitna's moves were planted inside his brain quite literally.
Jungkook
She does, hyung. What's the song, btw? It's a bop :D
The reply took quite some time but Jungkook eventually got a reply.
Namjoon Hyung
It's one of the songs me and Joonie produced.
You like it?
This is Yoongi hyung, btw
Jungkook
You guys can make music too?
That's cool!
Namjoon Hyung
Hyung will let you listen to it next time
Jungkook
Thank you, Yoongi hyung
Namjoon Hyung
Is it okay if I save your number on my phone too?
Jungkook
Sure, why not Yoongi hyung :)
I hope Bitna is not giving you a hard time
Namjoon Hyung
It's Namjoon again !
No, she's really sweet
She got a bit cranky before nap time but she's as energetic as ever now
Jungkook
I'm glad
I'm still sorry for barging into your apartment without notice and just dropped Bitna there all of the sudden
Namjoon Hyung
Yoongi hyung said you don't have to be sorry
And I agree
We're actually bonding
I think I'm his favorite uncle
Jungkook chuckled when he saw Namjoon's reply. Well Bitna didn't really have a close uncle so there might be a possibility for them to be her favorite uncles.
Namjoon Hyung
Do yousjshkejskkkk
Jungkook
Are you okay, hyung?
Namjoon Hyung
So rry
Yoongi hyung smacked me in the back
He said he's Bitna's favorite uncle
Jungkook
Wow, there's a competition already hyung?
Namjoon Hyung
I'm going to ask Bitna who's her favorite
It was not a surprise to see them already gushing over Bitna. The girl was too cute even for Jungkook as her dad to handle.
Namjoon Hyung
Okay she said it's you :(
Jungkook
That's daddy's girl :D
Namjoon Hyung
Yoongi now is determined to dethrone you and become Bitna's favorite
Jungkook
You're not joining, Namjoon hyung?
Namjoon Hyung
Doubt I'll ever beat her dad
Jungkook
Realistic I see lol
Well I need to get back to work
Tell Bitna I love her
Namjoon Hyung
Okay, good luck Jungkook-ah !!
Perhaps, Jungkook didn't have anything to worry about in the first place. They seemed to get along pretty well and Bitna was finally opening up to them and stopped being shy to the point that she bounced up and down, dancing like she never did before in front of anyone but him. What are the chances of having a neighbor like Namjoon and Yoongi? Jungkook hoped he wouldn't run out of luck because of that.
---
Some of the street lights flickered when Jungkook passed by. It was as if they were trying to tell him something as Jungkook drove past them without a glance, only seeing them through his peripheral vision.
Jungkook's arms hurt quite a bit even after he did some stretching between working and his shoulders felt stiff as Jungkook tried to fix how it was positioned against the car seat. His weary body screamed not to be put into another work today but Jungkook had one more task that was to cook dinner for him and Bitna.
The walk to his apartment felt like it was a mile away when your body is sore all over. Jungkook dragged his feet until he reached Yoongi and Namjoon's door. He knocked a few times until Namjoon opened it and let him in.
"You must be tired. Come in, Yoongi hyung is cooking dinner."
Would it be weird if he cried over someone cooking dinner for him? "Thank you. I don't think I have more energy left to even lift a pan."
"Bitna is drawing something." Namjoon pointed at Bitna who was sitting on the floor near the couch until she noticed Jungkook was in the room.
"Daddy!"
"Hey, baby. I missed you." Nothing would beat the feeling of being hugged by your kid the second you come home. It was healing. "Have you been a good girl?"
"Yeah! I only cried once today."
"You did? That's really great, baby! You're getting so big, huh?"
"I am a big girl now."
"You are, baby." Jungkook scooped Bitna up and carried her to her back despite his muscles protesting at him.
Bitna laughed happily when she got so high, almost as if she could hit the ceilings. "I'm tall!"
"Hey, Jungkook-ah." Yoongi finally said after he washed his flour-covered hands. "You look tired."
"I'm fine, hyung. What can I help with cooking?"
"I said that you look tired so sit down on the couch and get some rest."
"But—"
"No," Yoongi threatened him with a spoon. "Go sit and tell Namjoon to help me or no tempura for you."
The smell of the food made Jungkook's stomach rumble even louder. Yoongi knew he was looking at the tempura so he hid it before Jungkook could snitch one. "Rest, Jungkook."
"Fine, hyung. Just please don't stab me in the eye with that spoon." Jungkook backed off while chuckling, raising his hands in defeat as he walked backwards.
Namjoon was sitting on the couch with the same book Jungkook saw he brought to the park. But now he was close to finishing it with just a few pages left.
"Namjoon hyung, Yoongi hyung called for you." Jungkook said as he let Bitna off of his shoulders to sit on the couch. The toddler quickly ran off to where her drawing was.
Namjoon shut his book and set it aside with a sigh. "I guess it's time for me to help him cook. Even though I'm not good at it, hyung still asks me for help."
"That sounds like me, including Bitna in everything I do."
Namjoon smiled, dimples on full display adoring his already sweet face. How come Jungkook didn't notice that before? "You're a great dad." He said after a while. "You know, my past roommates never allowed me in the kitchen since I've made… quite a lot of mess, but Yoongi hyung insisted that I need to be at the kitchen more. It kinda works, I think. At least I can use a knife and cook simple pasta now."
The way Namjoon recalled the memories, with a smile on his face and gaze directed towards the kitchen where Yoongi was, Jungkook could actually feel how close the two are with each other.
"Namjoon-ah, come here quick."
"Alright, I'll be there in a sec." Namjoon said. "Go rest Jungkook-ah." He added before he strode across the room, to the kitchen.
Instead of sitting on the couch, Jungkook decided to approach Bitna. "Hey, princess. What are you drawing?"
"Joon and Yoon!"
"Let me guess, the really tall one is Namjoon?" Jungkook said after he looked at the 'Namjoon' Bitna drew. The figure had extremely long legs that it almost took out every inch of the paper.
"He's really tall, daddy."
"He is really tall, indeed."
"Joon put me on his shoulder and I was so tall!"
Jungkook could imagine how tall Bitna must've been when Namjoon carried her. "That's nice! They're really kind to you, right?"
"Yes! Yoon made me some buggies for lunch."
"Buggies?" Jungkook frowned. "You mean nuggies? Nuggets?" That was the first time Bitna misspelled the word nuggets or nuggies, like she likes to call it.
"Dinosaur shape nuggies!"
"Wow, your pajama is so cute, Bitna." It was the new pajama Jungkook brought her last month with unicorns all over it, complementing its pastel pink color. "You look so cute. Have you counted how many unicorns are on your pajamas?"
Bitna's hand stopped in the middle of drawing a circle and then she looked at her pants for almost ten seconds before she looked up again. "It's many, daddy. I don't know."
"It's a lot of unicorns, yes. Let's count it together later, yeah?"
"Food is ready, guys." Yoongi called from the kitchen. Bitna screamed in glee as she ran to the kitchen so fast that Jungkook needed to chase her before she hurt herself.
The tempura Yoongi cooked looked really good. Jungkook needed to physically stop himself from drooling. Rich smell of miso filled his nose and his stomach screamed, demanding to be filled right that second.
"I feel like I'm at a Japanese restaurant."
"Hyung is a really good cook. Basically someone who saved me from buying takeouts every night."
Jungkook chuckled. Namjoon and Yoongi are so different but they fit with each other really well, it kind of made Jungkook a little bit jealous. Would he be able to fit between them?
"Daddy! Shrimp!"
"You want shrimp? I'll cut it first for you, okay?"
"No Jungkook, hyung will cut it for Bitna. You should eat first before you starve and drop dead on my kitchen floor."
Jungkook stared at Yoongi dumbfounded as the older man took care of Bitna. "Hyung, you don't have to."
"Yoongi hyung is spoiling Jungkook already. I think he has a soft spot for you." Namjoon chuckled, giving Jungkook his plate, ready to eat.
But you're also spoiling me, Namjoon hyung, Jungkook wanted to say but he decided not to. He only smiled and took the plate from Namjoon's hand and a whispered thank you . Maybe he should just enjoy being spoiled by his hyung since he never felt like this unless he visited his parents, and relax tonight.
"Oh, god are you sure you're not a chef or something, hyung? This is so good."
"De wee cious!" Bitna added which made them all coo out loud.
"We should cook together sometimes."
"Of course, that would be great, Jungkook-ah."
The warm atmosphere reminded Jungkook that he could always find comfort and company with his hyung. Despite them only starting to get to know each other not even for a week, Jungkook thought he could get used to this. Hearing Namjoon and Yoongi bantering with each other, him between them laughing and joining in occasionally, and Bitna, being a three year old that laughed at everything even when she didn't even understand it sometimes.
The night came faster than Jungkook wanted it to be but Bitna had started to nod off and get a little bit cranky as sleepiness hit her.
"Thank you again for taking care of Bitna and the food, hyung. I promise I'll pay you both back."
"Don't think too much about it, Jungkook. My students loved seeing her popped up behind me from time to time." Bitna was acting silly behind Namjoon and ran off while giggling when his students started to notice her.
"Oh no, I hope she didn't disturb you and your students too much."
"I already told you they love her." Namjoon patted Jungkook on the shoulder, tried to convince him.
"It felt like I was working out while playing with her, so thank you. New way to be more fit, I guess." Jungkook couldn't agree more with Yoongi. Taking care of a toddler indeed needs a lot of energy and most of the time, gets you sweating more than a cardio would.
Jungkook sighed in relief, finally feeling like he could give into his desire to sleep. "Okay, hyung. I think it's time for us to go to bed." Bitna appeared to be half asleep already. "Let's hang out again sometimes."
"Bye bye." Bitna forced herself to open her eyes and waved her hand tiredly.
---
One month, passed since the babysitter accident and according to Yoongi and Namjoon, Jungkook had completely escaped from his little shell and finally showed them the sides of him they had never seen before.
"Hyung, you don't have any more chips, here?" Jungkook asked while rummaging through his hyung's kitchen.
"In case you didn't notice, you brat. That's the last chips bag I purposely saved for later." A sigh could be heard from behind him. Yoongi stood there, leaning against the door frame with his arms folded to his chest.
Like a deer in headlights, Jungkook stared back at Yoongi with his round eyes. He glanced at the bag of chips and then back to Yoongi. "There are still five or six chips here, if you want?"
Yoongi let out a deep sigh before he turned back, dragging his feet to the living room. "Just finish it, Kook-ah."
One thing that Namjoon got jealous about sometimes was the fact that Yoongi never gets mad at Jungkook. Which was also the reasons why Jungkook refused to get a piano lesson (that Yoongi surprisingly had done for a few kids back in the day) from his hyung because Jungkook thought he wouldn't progress if Yoongi would only tell him that he did great, despite him messing up the notes.
"Hyung, you need to try to get mad at Jungkook at least once or else he's going to come just to eat all of our snacks."
"Let the kid eat, Joon-ah."
Jungkook would prefer to stick his tongue out at Namjoon like usual when something like this happened, but his mouth was full so he only laughed mischievously.
"See? He's taking advantage of your soft spot for him."
"Joon hyung, can I please have some of your ice cream?"
"Sure, you know where it is." Namjoon said absentmindedly. He looked at Yoongi confusedly when the older gave him a 'really?' look. "What?"
"You just did the same thing I did, Joon. I remember you said that you only had one scoop of ice cream left last night."
"I mean I planned to go to buy groceries tomorrow so I could buy another cup of ice cream." Namjoon protested.
"And that's the logic I had about my last chips too. I could always buy it again. So you also have a soft spot for Jungkook."
Jungkook could only laugh at his hyung's usual banter. A sight he had seen too many times in a month that happened regularly throughout the day. Maybe when Jungkook started to spend another month with them, he wouldn't even bat an eyelash when this happened.
"You guys act like an old couple. Wait, you probably are an old couple right? Based on how long you've been together?"
Complete silence suddenly engulfed him as Jungkook saw the shock on Yoongi and Namjoon's face. Their pupils were dilated and the atmosphere between them suddenly changed.
"Did I say something wrong?" Jungkook's voice came out shakily. He was unsure of what was happening.
"We're not a couple, Jungkook-ah." Yoongi finally said after a long pause. "Have you been thinking that we're a couple since we met or what?"
"Wait, what?" Now that confused Jungkook even more. "I— I thought you vaguely told me when we were at the park? And when we hung out that day and you told me how you guys met…"
"We're only friends." The answer rather sounded not convincing when it came out of Namjoon's mouth. Like he didn't really want to say it.
"God, I'm so sorry. I just— you guys are so close to each other and from the stories you guys told me, it gave me an impression that you've been together for a long time— well, as friends, now that I know."
"We met last year, actually. So, we're not old friends either."
Jungkook felt the blush creeped out from the tip of his ears to his face. He just assumed they were a couple because they acted like one and now that sounded silly even to him. Jungkook cursed at himself. He thought his hyung just didn't feel the need to verbally announce that they were a couple. He should've just asked them instead of making a fool out of himself and made his hyung embarrassed too.
"I'm sorry for assuming things like this, hyung."
"Hey, it's all fine." Jungkook knew it was not entirely fine. Something shifted, at least between Yoongi and Namjoon and the way they refused to look at each other didn't convince Jungkook either. It could be because they were uncomfortable with the thought of being more than friends, or was it because Jungkook might've made them realize something they didn't want to admit before? Because Namjoon's eyes always lingered on Yoongi almost all the time. He would laugh at Yoongi's joke and silly dances with a really fond face and the biggest smile on his face. Yoongi would also look at Namjoon in the softest way possible. A face that Jungkook only saw when he was looking at Namjoon only. Could it be? Jungkook thought to himself. He needed to find more proof until he could really say that they were actually crushing on each other.
"Daddy?" Thankfully, Bitna came at the right time to break the ice between them. The girl was standing on the doorway of Namjoon's bedroom with bed hair, looking as adorable as ever. "I'm lonely."
"Aw, you're lonely? I'm sorry, baby. Daddy got hungry so I left to eat some snacks."
"Did you have a good nap, Bitna?" Namjoon stood up, leaving Yoongi on the couch to approach Bitna to shake the awkwardness within his system. "I hope my room is not too cold, for you."
"It smells nice."
"Ah, yes. I lit a scented candle before you took a nap."
"Where's Yoon?" Bitna asked while rubbing her eyes.
"I'm here, Bitna." He smiled when he saw Bitna’s face light up.
"Uncle Yoon, I want some snacks." Bitna ran to Yoongi with her little feet and almost stumbled when she stepped on Namjoon's toes but thankfully, she didn't fall.
"Do you want me or daddy to make you a snack?"
"Yoon!"
"Bitna, you don't like my cooking anymore?" Jungkook actually didn't mind but Bitna seemed to like what Yoongi made for him a lot these days.
"No, I like everyone!"
"You do? Thank you baby. I was going to cry if you said you didn't like it anymore."
As expected, Bitna hugged him while patting his head exactly three times before saying, "Don't cry, daddy. I'll share my snacks with you."
"Bitna, want to help me open the food box to prepare?"
Of course, being the active girl that she is, Bitna agreed to help Yoongi. She ran to the kitchen but Yoongi quickly scooped her up and carried her to the kitchen superman-style, making her a giggling mess.
It was not like Namjoon didn't expect Jungkook to glance at him right after Yoongi left the living room, but he was still embarrassed to be caught red handed looking at his hyung with such expression on his face.
"Um, I guess we'll wait here? Unless you want to join them." The awkwardness was not entirely gone. Jungkook could feel Namjoon was still a bit uneasy.
"I'm sorry I made things awkward between you and Yoongi hyung."
"You already said sorry like a hundred times, Jungkook."
"No I didn't. Or maybe I should say sorry a hundred times?"
"Kook-ah." Namjoon squinted his eyes at Jungkook and was about to say something again but Jungkook cut him off.
"I know, hyung. I get it. I was just messing with you." Jungkook grinned as he shoved Namjoon’s shoulder playfully.
The couch dipped when both of them sat on it at the same time. They stared at the TV playing commercials but didn't actually pay attention to what was on the screen. Jungkook glanced at Namjoon, trying to come up with a conversation so it wouldn’t be too awkward between them.
“Did you notice how all three of us wear hoodies most of the time when we hang out?”
Perhaps it was because they rarely hung out outside of their apartment and Jungkook believed, because hoodies were just comfortable to wear (yes, not because his closet is full of it). Namjoon briefly quirked his eyebrows, unsure of where this conversation was going.
“Yeah, it’s comfortable especially when the weather is chilly like now.”
“I’m pretty sure Yoongi hyung has a lot of hoodies too, but when I came over, he somehow always got your hoodie on. Are yours more comfortable? Maybe I should try wearing one too.”
Jungkook is an adult in his twenties with great physics, a pretty stable job, and a kid to top it all, but he’s still adorable nevertheless to him and Yoongi. Like his hand got a mind of itself, Namjoon ruffled Jungkook’s hair and chuckled when the younger looked at him confusedly with his bambi eyes that Bitna inherited.
“You’re cute.” Namjoon said all of a sudden before he retreated his hand from Jungkook’s soft hair. “Yoongi hyung just loves to wear something two times bigger than him hence why he always stole mine. I don’t really mind though, because he looks cuter and smaller like that.”
That’s gay, Jungkook thought to himself. Anyone would notice the whipped smile and slight blush on Namjoon’s face as he was being more obvious of his crush than usual. Jungkook had come to a term that yes, his hyung are pining and he would try to be the best wingman for each of them.
“I don’t think I’ll look as small as Yoongi in your hoodie.”
“Yeah that’s because you’re muscular, Kook-ah. You could probably lift me up with one hand.”
Jungkook chuckled while imagining him lifting Namjoon with one hand like he often did to Bitna. That would likely have ended up with an injury but Jungkook was sure there were other ways for him to lift Namjoon.
“Probably not with one hand, but bridal-style? Wanna try, hyung?” Jungkook was ready to scoop Namjoon up bridal-style but Namjoon quickly tried to escape from Jungkook’s hands that were already on his legs.
“No, no stop Jungkook-ah, you’ll hurt yourself.” The situation was not something to laugh about if one of them ended up with an injury, though Namjoon didn’t know why he was laughing.
“Why are you laughing, hyung?” Jungkook said between his laughs, still trying to stop his hyung from wriggling around.
“Why are you laughing?” And that was the situation Yoongi saw when he came back to the living room.
“Seriously, guys? I left for like ten minutes and you’re already wrestling around?”
The fact that Bitna decided to join them and jumped on Jungkook’s back, screaming and laughing despite not knowing what was happening, didn’t help either of them to calm down and stop.
“So you’re just gonna ignore me like that, huh?” Yoongi said after he let out his deepest sigh. “I guess that means I got the snacks all for myself.”
“NO!”
---
The idea came up after Jungkook told them that Bitna never had been in a sleepover or had someone come to sleepover before. Since Jungkook’s parents aren’t counted, Yoongi and Namjoon took this matter into their own hands. It was a great time too because the school's final exams just ended so Namjoon's students were in their holiday weeks which mean he's also free. They honestly weren't sure of what to do all day so they decided to go with the flow and mostly what Bitna wanted to do that day.
“You guys seriously use a suitcase even when you live literally five steps away from here?” Jungkook facepalmed himself and laughed with his nose scrunched when he opened the door to the sight of Namjoon holding a small suitcase. The sight of them that looked a bit ridiculous might be funny to Jungkook, but Yoongi, personally thought that this was a win since he got to see Jungkook’s cute laugh.
“Just pretend that we live far away from here, kook.” Namjoon said before he stepped inside.
“Joonie!” Bitna basically launched herself into his open arm.
“Look at you, pretty. You got a cute ribbon on your head. What color is it?”
“Yellow, Joonie. It’s my favorite color.”
Yoongi looked at the sight in front of him that actually was not unfamiliar, but it made his heart ache in a good way every time. Just a year ago, he used to think that having a child around was not something he’d like anytime soon, but ever since Bitna came into his life even though she is not his child, there was this sudden urge to just make the girl happy and protected. Namjoon did say Bitna made his fatherly side come out.
“Uncle Yoongi doesn’t get any hugs?” Yoongi pouted when Bitna was still hugging Namjoon and didn’t look like she’ll let go of his friend anytime soon.
“Okay, Joonie can I let go now? Yoon wants a hug too!” Bitna sweetly asked before letting go of Namjoon. “Happy now?”
“Very much.” Yoongi grinned after the hug. “So, Kook-ah, what’s the first schedule?”
“Bitna said she wants to play legos so should we build something together?”
Certainly, it was not Yoongi’s first time at Jungkook’s apartment, but the way the place looked homey and warm never ceased to amaze him. It just felt so different from his and Namjoon's apartment despite their efforts to make it as homey as possible. Maybe it's the father and daughter's magic?
They all gathered on the living room's floor where Bitna brought all her colorful brick legos out and dumped it in front of them. "My dream used to be an architect." Yoongi said to fill the silence between them. "But as you guys know, I chose a different career."
"I never knew about that." Namjoon didn't remember Yoongi ever telling him about that so he probably never told anyone about this before. "Why did you choose business then?"
"I always love the thought of having my own business and the opportunity to become one came so I took it. Here I am now."
"That's really cool, hyung. I did sports when I was a kid so the thought of becoming a videographer never crossed my mind. I don't think I even knew such occupation existed when I was a kid." Yoongi smiled at Jungkook. He didn't really know why being around Jungkook made him smile more but he gives off such a happy energy. Somehow, Jungkook often thought everything about him was cool, including Namjoon. His energy was almost like a kid inside a candy store.
"Bitna, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
Bitna hummed as she looked up at the ceiling for a moment. "I think I want to be the lady that climbs the long blanket! She was like… twisting it around her legs and woosh fall down but not really falling down."
Yoongi had no idea what Bitna was talking about but Jungkook seemed to know because he was already laughing on the floor. On the other hand, Namjoon seemed to not be able to restrain himself from pinching Bitna's cheeks while chuckling.
"Okay what? Who the fu— who climbed a blanket?" Yoongi frowned confusedly.
"Okay, wait a second." Jungkook said while still trying to catch his breath with a hand clenched tightly at his stomach. "She meant aerial silks performer. We watched a video about it the other day."
"Aw, that's amazing, Bitna. It's not a blanket, but silks." Namjoon said, his 'teacher' side coming out. "You're not scared of heights?" Namjoon had never heard of a kid with such a specific dream before.
"No, because I'm a brave girl! Daddy said I'm brave."
"I did say that, baby. I'm sure you'll be a great performer."
"I'm going to be your first fan, okay Bitna? Daddy the second and Joonie the third." Yoongi laughed when he saw Jungkook and Namjoon's 'offended' face.
"Okay, why am I the third?" Namjoon pouted, clearly offended to be placed as the third.
"I'm her dad , thus, I'm the first by default." Yoongi wasn't even mad when Jungkook used his 'dad privilege' card. He had too much fun teasing them especially Jungkook since most of the time it was him who got teased by the younger.
Yoongi is the last child of his family and so he was usually the one getting spoiled, teased, and pampered. Ever since he met Namjoon and now Jungkook and his kid, it felt nice to be able to say ' hyung will do it' 'let hyung take care of it' and all variations of that. People might think he was more reserved than other people, but he actually just has a different way to show affection. Yoongi is sure, without even saying it verbally to Namjoon and Jungkook, they knew he loved them.
"Daddy! Look I built you a yellow house!"
"Wow, thank you, baby. We should throw a housewarming party, then."
"Okay then I'll take care of the song." Yoongi took out his phone and briefly scrolled before he stopped. "Let me show you my stuff."
"No way!" Jungkook said, maybe a little bit too loud. "Bitna, uncle Yoongi will play a song he made!"
Yoongi remembered Namjoon's first reaction when he discovered that he made music. It was pretty much similar to Jungkook's reaction so it felt a bit nostalgic. "Joon, you're going to show them yours too, right?"
"You should've told me we're doing this. I don't know which song I should show you guys." With eyes planted on his phone, Namjoon vigorously scrolled through his SoundCloud.
"I'm sure every song you made is great, hyung."
"Okay, that puts a bit of pressure on me not gonna lie." Namjoon chuckled nervously.
"Sorry, I'm excited!" When was the last time Yoongi felt this much appreciated by someone? Jungkook was such a self-esteem booster.
"Bitna, are you ready? The party is about to start!"
The song started soft and slow, then the beats started to fasten and suddenly a rap came out of nowhere, surprising Jungkook. "Wait you rap?"
"We, rap." Yoongi said, emphasizing the word we to indicate that Namjoon raps too.
"Bitna, it's uncle Yoongi's voice!"
"Yoon is singing so fast, daddy."
"It's called rapping, Bitna."
"I like it! He's so cool!" Yoongi had seen some praises for him online, but actually hearing it from them gave him a different feeling for sure.
The song ended with an echo of the last beat. Yoongi looked at Jungkook expectantly but he still looked like he needed time to process the song. "So? I hope you like it."
"I like it uncle Yoon! Now it's uncle Joonie time!"
"Alright, let's hear Namjoon hyung's song first and I'll give my opinion later."
"What? Is this an audition or something?" It sure felt like one. Would he feel this way many times if he decided to take a music career? Namjoon thought to himself.
"Play it! Play it! Play it" Jungkook cheered and Bitna followed, excited to hear what Namjoon was about to play.
Namjoon purposely played a song that has Yoongi featured in it and a relatively new song. After they found out that each of them made music and rap, it was just a matter of time until they decided to make a song together.
"Wait. It's both of you?"
"Yeah, we made this a few months ago."
Namjoon had the memory of its making process planted permanently on his mind. He always knew that Yoongi put his best effort at everything, but seeing his hyung having fun while making music and brainstorming the lyrics with him at their kitchen table was something he never experienced before.
It was probably the time when Namjoon realized his feelings for Yoongi. Being able to spend even more time with Yoongi and seeing different sides of him helped Namjoon to admit that yes he liked his hyung probably more than he should have.
The sight of Yoongi's gummy smiles and to hear his frustrated groan when things didn't go well, woke something up inside his heart. Namjoon thought it was the best time he had ever spent with Yoongi alone.
Jungkook let out a shuddered breath when the song came to an end. "Woah." He paused. "How are you guys not famous?"
"Is uncle Yoon and Joonie famous, daddy? They have fans?"
"I'm pretty sure they have, Bitna. They're really cool, don't you think so?"
"Maybe I can be an ariel silk dancer and a rapper too." Bitna pondered with a serious tone.
Jungkook chuckled. "It's aerial baby, not ariel."
"So Bitna, which song do you like more?" Jungkook asked.
"The second one because both of them are in it!"
"Fair enough." Yoongi and Namjoon said at the same time.
"Text me the link to your SoundCloud, hyung. Watch out for a sudden increase of streams because I would listen to it everyday." If the compliments were said by anyone other than Jungkook, Yoongi and Namjoon thought they would definitely question their sincerity.
"Thank you, Kook-ah. I guess the housewarming party is over." Yoongi playfully bowed like he just finished performing.
"And it's also time for you to take your naps, Bitna." Jungkook said, reminding his daughter which made Bitna whine even louder.
"No, I want to play more, daddy."
"You can, after your naps." Jungkook stood up and waited for Bitna to do the same. "If you don't nap, you'll be sleepy and won't be able to stay up to play with uncle Yoon and Joonie."
Jungkook sighed, knowing what would happen in a matter of minutes. "Bitna, they would still be here when you woke up."
Of course Bitna would refuse to nap when she was in the middle of having fun and it's not everyday that he got to play all day long. But from his experience, Bitna would get even more cranky at night when she didn't take a nap.
Yoongi looked at Jungkook with admiration. Handling a toddler together with a partner was hard, let alone doing it as a single dad. He wished he could offer Jungkook a little help but Yoongi is afraid he would just be in the way, so like Namjoon, he stayed and watched Jungkook handle the situation silently.
---
After a lot of screaming and crying, Bitna finally tires herself out and sleeps on the bed peacefully. Namjoon and Yoongi had moved to the couch, waiting for Jungkook to come out of his room.
"She's asleep?" Namjoos asked, just to make sure.
"Yeah, finally." Jungkook sighed as he plopped face first on top of Namjoon and Yoongi. "Sorry about that."
Namjoon patted Jungkook on the back and smiled even when the other couldn't see him. "You worked hard, Jungkook."
"I'm tired." Jungkook's answer came muffled.
"Okay, you can rest on top of us for a while." Namjoon said fondly as he patted Jungkook's head.
"I'll give you five minutes and that's it, Kook. You're heavy." Yoongi groaned as he started to feel his legs hurting.
"Still gonna give you props though, because putting her to sleep seemed tiring."
"It is tiring if she refused and started crying."
Everyone said being a parent is hard but he had never been around a single parent before or just any parent around his age at all until Jungkook. At times like this, Namjoon felt the biggest admiration for Jungkook to be able to handle things like a being dad . This also proves how age doesn't matter because although Jungkook is still considered young, he did an excellent job for raising Bitna to be the sweetest child.
"Joonie, you're smiling." Yoongi pointed out.
That snapped Namjoon out of his daydream. "I'm just proud of Jungkook, hyung. Let me appreciate him."
"Okay but am I the only one who can't feel my leg now?"
"Fine, hyung but make room for me in the middle." Fortunately, the couch was big enough for all three of them even though it was still a bit cramped.
"So we're just gonna do nothing until Bitna wakes up?" Namjoon noticed Yoongi who slowly closed his eyes. "Jungkook let's do something before Yoongi hyung fell asleep."
"What? Am I not allowed to take a nap too? Namjoon chuckled while Jungkook tried to prevent Yoongi from curling into himself. "I really want to curse right now but I'm a great uncle so please don't let me do it."
"What's the point of sleepover if we don't have fun all day?"
"Sleepover should've been at night but here we are since morning to entertain a toddler." Namjoon said. "Not that I'm complaining. I'm having fun."
"Okay I'm gonna get my UNO card." Namjoon felt a bit disappointed when the warmth from Jungkook left his side. But of course he didn't want to admit it because that's a bit weird. No? He thought to himself.
"Oh, he doesn't know what he's getting himself into." Namjoon said after Jungkook left. Him and Yoongi had played maybe hundreds of UNO matches to this day and they honestly think they were good at it.
Yoongi scoffed. "You might have forgotten that Kook hates losing more than anything so we better watch out."
"Okay but don't you let Jungkook win just because he's cute." Namjoon said that from experience when all three of them played games together last week.
Jungkook came back with a mischievous smile on his face. "The loser should be punished."
"Please not with the powder again." Yoongi grumbled.
"Only one winner and that's gonna be me." Jungkook said confidently and Namjoon scoffed, he glanced at Yoongi to smirk.
"It's on."
It was not a surprise that Yoongi won, but the fact that he won against Jungkook was probably something Namjoon would brag about for weeks and on.
"I didn't know hyung is so good at UNO." Jungkook sighed in defeat as he slumped to the floor. That was exactly the reaction Namjoon had when he first got defeated by Yoongi. "So what's the punishment?"
"I thought you knew what the punishment was, Kook-ah."
"Joon hyung, think about something."
"Just use that new application that decides your punishment for a game." Namjoon stared back when Yoongi and Jungkook looked at him with unreadable expressions. "What?"
"Just didn't expect you to know something like that, hyung." The way Jungkook's big eyes glinted more in awe rather than shock did something to Namjoon's heart and he didn't even know why.
"Why? My student told me about it."
"You always amaze me, hyung." Jungkook's stare started to make Namjoon embarrassed that he needed to look away.
"You're amazed by everything Namjoon does, Jungkook-ah." Yoongi said. "Not that I can't relate."
Namjoon was about to say something but he quickly shut his mouth. The older man refused to look at him after that and Namjoon can see the tip of his ears turned red. Crap , he thought. It's a Yoongi thing to always say something when he least expects it.
After a few seconds of being stunned, Namjoon remembered to check on his expression and his eyes just went straight to Jungkook who was smiling at him kind of weirdly. Something Namjoon couldn't understand why.
"Okay then let it pick a random punishment. " Jungkook scooted over, excited to see what the app would give them. "Who even had the idea to make th—"
Kiss. Was the word that popped up on the app. Namjoon's breath hitched and he turned his head slowly towards Jungkook who was already looking at him with wide eyes.
"What? Is it that bad?" Yoongi snatched the phone from Namjoon's hand and failed to contain his laugh. "What? This is not a punishment. You can kiss the forehead or cheeks."
"What do you mean it's not a punishment?" The rosy blush already visible on his face with thoughts of possibly kissing— wait. It's either him kissing Jungkook or being kissed but which one?
"Okay but who kisses who?" Jungkook said almost inaudible, feeling shy all of a sudden.
"Rock, paper, scissors is the only way to decide." Yoongi was definitely enjoying this more than any of them.
Of course, Jungkook won and that means he would be kissed by the younger. The universe must've thought it was funny to make Namjoon feel like this. Red all over and fidgety, heart beating fast as if he just ran around the entire block. But he shouldn't feel like this, right? This was only a fun game they played as friends and the kiss as punishment was totally something they would recall later as funny. So why did it seem like Namjoon was the only one overthinking this?
"I'm ready." Yoongi grinned behind the camera.
"Hey, hyung. Even Bitna said my forehead kisses are the best so be ready to be blown away."
As Jungkook drew closer, Namjoon felt his head spinning, not knowing where to look. Jungkook eyes were as round as a baby deer and his lips looked pink and soft, definitely not the place he would look at in this situation as it made his pulse beat even faster. So the only thing Namjoon could do was to close his eyes shut as hard as possible.
"Wait—"
The kiss lasted for a mere second. The sensation made Namjoon's heart come to a halt. Somehow it left a tingling mark on Namjoon's forehead and sent a buzz through all his body. Yoongi's laugh was loud, but it was drowned out as all Namjoon could think about was how soft Jungkook's lips felt when it touched his forehead. It was warm, too warm for him to ignore the blush on his own face. Namjoon didn't understand what was happening to him. Why did he feel a little bit disappointed that it happened so fast?
He glanced at Yoongi. What was Namjoon thinking? He was hoping that he would see the slightest change on Yoongi's face after the kiss. Maybe some jealousy? Want? But Namjoon didn't see any of it. Shouldn't he felt a little bit mad? But he felt more happy than embarrassed in that moment.
The foreign feeling slowly but surely took over Namjoon. He admitted that yes, he was always fond of Jungkook, but what he was feeling is different. Shit . Namjoon could barely handle his crush on Yoongi and now he has to deal with not one but two crushes?
"I'm definitely going to let Bitna watch this." Finally Namjoon could hear what Yoongi said other than his loud thoughts.
"So?" Jungkook asked, quirking one of his eyebrows.
"Yeah, I can see why Bitna loves getting kisses."
"Aw, you love my kisses! Want some more, hyung?" Jungkook said while making kissing noises.
"I'm good. That feeling would last at least for three whole months."
Yes, I want more .
---
Bitna woke up not long after all three of them finished laughing at the video of Jungkook kissing Namjoon's forehead. Yoongi never got bored of seeing Namjoon's flustered face as he stumbled over his words. It was something he always loved to take 'advantage' of sometimes, just to tease and nudge at Namjoon a little bit.
Yoongi thought he was already obvious enough when he flirted with Namjoon from time to time, but the younger seemed to notice it as just him, being his kind hyung who loves to tease him. It got a bit frustrating at times, but Yoongi clearly didn't want everything to crash and burn in case Namjoon didn't feel the same.
It was the first time for Yoongi to see Namjoon as flustered as before. He literally went blank after the kiss and it was probably because Yoongi wasn't really fond of physical affection. He felt like he should be at least a little jealous when Jungkook got the cutest reaction out of Namjoon, but somehow he didn't even feel the tiniest bit of that emotion.
"Uncle Yoon, are you sleeping with your eyes open?" A small pair of hands was suddenly pressed on both sides of Yoongi's cheeks.
Yoongi chuckled, endeared by Bitna's silliness. "Of course not, you dork. I was just thinking about something."
"Baby shark?" Bitna asked. Probably because she had been replaying the song for five times now.
"Not about baby sharks, sadly."
"You're lucky, hyung. The first month I showed Bitna the music video, my brain constantly played that song even when I tried not to think about it." Jungkook shivered at the thoughts of getting the song stuck inside his head. It was almost as if he was having a nightmare even in a broad daylight.
"I was having a hard time even just hearing the song on the streets." Namjoon remembered the time where the song was haunting him literally everywhere.
Yoongi smiled at Bitna who seemed not to be affected by their conversation and kept on humming along to baby sharks. "Is this your favorite song?"
"No." The answer was quicker than Yoongi expected. "I love the song daddy often sings for me."
"Do you know what song it is?"
Bitna shook her head. "But daddy's voice is really good when he sings it."
That perked Yoongi up. For someone who's good at everything, he wouldn't be surprised that Jungkook has a beautiful singing voice.
"I know what you're thinking, hyung." Jungkook squinted at him. "I'm not doing it."
"I didn't even say anything?" Yoongi tried to mask his disappointment. Maybe he should sneakily listen outside the bathroom when Jungkook showers because people usually sing while show— no you're being weird, Yoongi stopped immediately and mentally slapped his forehead.
"Look it's mommy sharks!" To be fair, to Yoongi they all look kind of the same except the difference in color.
Namjoon looked as shocked as Yoongi when he saw what Bitna was watching. "Wait, they have a cartoon of baby sharks?"
"Yeah, they're on episode 10 already."
The conversation went naturally. Yoongi almost forgot that he was not home and he'll only stay here temporarily. But he started to like having Jungkook, Bitna, and Namjoon altogether, just blending in within his sight.
"Hyung," Yoongi who had been closing his eyes was startled when he felt a sudden weight on top of him. "What perfume do you use? I like it."
Usually, Yoongi would groan and complain when someone was bothering him when he was relaxing, but his defensive system seemed not to work really well on Jungkook. "It's the one i just bought yesterday. I sent you the picture."
"Wait, you did? I forgot."
"Brat, you never learn to read your hyung's messages." Despite what he said, Yoongi's hand wrapped itself around Jungkook in a not-so-comfortable hug since they were in a weird position, but it was still nice. "This hoodie makes you look so soft, Kook. Little did everyone know, you're hiding all your muscles under it"
“Life is full of surprises, hyung.” Jungkook wiggled his eyebrows making Yoongi laugh out loud.
Jungkook snuggled in, “You don’t usually let me cuddle you like this, hyung.”
“Just enjoy it before I change my mind, Kook.” He was lucky that Jungkook got his face buried on his neck, thus, the boy couldn’t see the blush on his face.
“I want cuddles too!” Said a voice that came from the end of the hallway. Yoongi glanced at Namjoon who was walking not far behind Bitna. His movements came to a halt for a few seconds as his gaze fell on the situation Yoongi and Jungkook were in. His face unreadable, and they stayed like that until Namjoon snapped up.
“Bitna, hey, since Yoon and Daddy are cuddling, then we should be cuddle buddies together!” Bitna stopped and turned around, launching herself into Namjoon.
“No—” Jungkook was ready to protest and escaped from Yoongi’s hold, but Bitna was already hugging Namjoon who was purposely not letting the younger go. “Hyung, let me switch with Namjoon-hyung.”
“No, Joon is too heavy for me.” Yoongi whispered and chuckled when Namjoon eyed him suspiciously.
“You can always be the little spoon.”
“I like being the bigger spoon, so you better not move, Kook.” Jungkook contemplated for a moment until he sighed in defeat and went back into Yoongi's embrace.
“Uncle Joon is bigger than Daddy. He kinda feels like a blanket.” Yoongi scoffed out a laugh at that. He didn’t know if it was a compliment or an insult but Namjoon seemed content about it.
Yoongi looked at his surroundings and thought that this was probably something he always craved for. His past partner and just people in general used to prematurely judge him and left before he got the chance to break down his walls for them. But being around Jungkook and Namjoon, he didn’t need to explain himself much as they were kind enough to try to understand him.
Suddenly he noticed how Jungkook’s movements were still and his breathing had become deep. Yoongi tried to shake him a little, but he got no reaction. Then it hit him all at once. Jungkook’s already soft features somehow became even softer in sleep. His long lashes complement his face perfectly as his plump lips pouted, looking as kissable as ever.
Fuck . Should he be thinking of all this stuff? Yoongi gathered all his remaining strength to look away from Jungkook but it was hard until Namjoon cleared his throat, one of his eyebrows quirked at Yoongi in question. He should’ve been a little shameful, getting caught red handed looking at Jungkook, but he really was too drowned in the younger's cute sleeping face to feel such an emotion.
“He’s asleep?” Namjoon asked and Yoongi noticed he was already in a sitting position, reading some animal facts to Bitna like they did a lot of times.
“Yeah, he looks a bit younger like this.” Yoongi whispered, trying not to wake Jungkook. “He must’ve been really tired.” Jungkook’s hair felt soft when Yoongi moved his bangs a little bit, just to see his face clearer. He really hoped Namjoon wouldn’t tell Jungkook the state of his disgustingly fond face right now.
Jungkook's lips twitched, it reminded Yoongi of a rabbit pet he used to own when he was younger. He wondered how Jungkook’s lips would feel on his—
Oh fuck . He really was fucked now. Yoongi inhaled a shaky breath, trying to distract himself from something other than his previous thought, even more, from Jungkook’s lips. But when his brain decided to recall the exact memory of him having the same thoughts of kissing Namjoon too a few months ago, he just wanted to curl and disappeared for a second.
It would be easier to just admit it, right? He had been fighting these feelings for a few weeks now, thinking it was silly of him to be able to like two people at the same time. Yoongi was so sure that he just mistook his feelings towards Jungkook and reassured himself countless of times that it was not just because he was fond of the guys. Not because he loves to pamper and spoil him as his ‘younger brother’. Maybe it was because all he thought about was how Jungkook is younger than him that he forgot that Jungkook is just as much of an adult as Namjoon and him are.
Damn you, brat. Fine I’ll admit it. I like you.
---
Jungkook barely got any sleep last night. He swore to himself that he would be the best wingman for his hyung and planned to make yesterday his first attempt, but he failed miserably. First, it was the game. He personally chose UNO, the game he thought he was good at but apparently Yoongi was better than him.
His lips suddenly felt tingly when the memory of kissing Namjoon on the forehead came back. If his plan was a success, it would’ve been something his hyung did and that should be his triumphant moment as the best matchmaker. Worse than that, he accidently fell asleep while cuddling with Yoongi and woke up when the sun was almost gone. Jungkook panicked when he woke up, not sure if he was apologizing because he caused Yoong an inconvenience or he was apologizing to Namjoon for literally sleeping on his hyung’s crush's arms. Maybe both, after he thought about it.
“Ah, that’s hot.” Jungkook flinched as his tongue burned by the freshly made coffee. He sighed, clearly too immersed in his own thoughts, he mindlessly drank the hot coffee like it was an ice tea.
“What? Are you watching porn?” Jungkook was startled when Yoongi suddenly appeared behind him.
“P-porn? In the kitchen? That’s nasty, hyung.” Jungkook grimaced, scrunching his nose.
“You were groaning ah, that’s hot when I came here so I thought…”
Jungkook laughed at Yoongi's attempt to imitate him. “First of all, I burnt my tongue, that’s why I said that and excuse me? I don't sound like that, hyung.”
“Yes you did, brat.” Yoongi huffed out a laugh. “Ah, why is it so cold here?”
Then Jungkook noticed the hoodie Yoongi was wearing. “You stole Namjoon hyung's hoodie again, huh?”
“I didn’t steal it. I’m borrowing it since it’s cold.”
“I can’t see half of your body from here, hyung. The hoodie is eating you up.”
Yoongi yawned, “Was that supposed to be an insult?” He then snatched the coffee Jungkook was drinking from his hand.
“Hey—” Jungkook was about to snatch his coffee back from Yoongi, but stopped when he finally took a closer look at his hyung. His soft but messy locks, his eyes that were still half open, and how small and petite he looked under Namjoon’s sweater. Pretty was the only word he could think of in that situation.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“It’s nothing.” Jungkook shrieked and spun on his heels to make another cup of coffee while hiding his blushing face.
Why did he freak out? It was not a big deal to think your friend is pretty, right? But Jungkook felt like he was betraying his own self and Namjoon. He promised to help his hyung subtly to get together so he shouldn’t be feeling this way.
“Do you want breakfast, hyung?”
“Shouldn’t we wait for Bitna and Joon?”
“Well, I asked in case you’re already hungry.” Jungkook laughed awkwardly.
Jungkook looked away when Yoongi was still looking at him, as if he was trying to read Jungkook’s mind. “Why are you being weird? You’re still embarrassed because of yesterday?”
“N-no.”
“Then why are you standing five feet apart from me? We’re gay .”
Jungkook stared at Yoongi blankly before he failed in holding his laugh. “What the fuck, hyung. That’s so lame.”
“You laughed, though.”
Jungkook smiled. “I did, hyung.”
“Yoongi hyung why are you awake?” Namjoon yawned. “Also is that my hoodie? No wonder I can’t find it anywhere.”
Yoongi looked unfazed by Namjoon's complaint as he continued sipping on his coffee. “Grab another hoodie, Joon.”
“It's alright, I’ll manage.”
“Want coffee, hyung?” Jungkook poured another coffee for Namjoon. “Do you want sugar?”
“I’ll add it myself, Kook. Thank you.” Namjoon said as he approached Jungkook, adding one spoon of sugar.
“Hyung, your arm!” Namjoon stopped stirring his coffee, looking at his arms for some cuts or stains, but he found nothing.
“What? Did I cut myself?”
“I mean your biceps. When did it become that big?” There was no chance to take back what he said. Jungkook stammered, looking for excuses when Namjoon’s face flushed.
“Ah, thank you. I’ve been working out lately.”
“Why are you getting shy, Joon? It does look bigger than before. You’re gaining some muscles.”
Who would’ve thought that someone like Namjoon is not good at getting compliments? Jungkook was so sure with how good Namjoon looks, his intelligence, and what a gentleman he is, his hyung should’ve been so used to getting compliments. But he still blushed and hid his face behind his palm everytime he got one.
“You’re cute, hyung.” Jungkook huffed out a laugh.
Yoongi scoffed. “One second we were complimenting his muscles and next we’re calling him cute?”
“But you guys were like that to me too.” It was not his fault for having soft features while he got all those muscles under hs clothes.
“Well, I guess that’s just our thing, then.” The smile on Namjoon’s face was the kind of smile Jungkook only sees when he’s with them. To be fair, Namjoon is naturally kind and loves to smile so Jungkook is pretty sure more than two people have fallen for his dimples, but that one was just different.
“I’m gonna start cooking now.” Jungkook glanced at the clock. “Bitna will be awake anytime soon.”
“Should I help?” The chair Yoongi was sitting on screeched against the floor when he stood up. “I’m going to help anyway even if you say no.”
“Then you don’t have to ask, hyung.” Jungkook nodded at what Namjoon just said. “But, should I help?”
“Of course you’re helping, Joon. You don’t have to ask.”
“Salty much?”
“Okay, hyung, can we start cooking with less arguing? You guys are starting to sound like my parents.”
They started cooking even though it still took a few minutes for Namjoon and Yoongi to stop arguing. The smell of fried rice filled the room, making all their mouths water. Even when the carrots were cut a bit weirdly, Yoongi praised Namjoon with his soft smile. Jungkook personally thought that Namjoon started to get better at his knife skills. He thought about his first time holding a knife too in his mother’s kitchen, learning how to cook for the sake of his daughter. Jungkook never regretted learning it even though it cost him a few cuts on his fingers.
“Crap, why am I getting emotional, hyung?”
Namjoon wrapped his arms around Jungkook. “Aw, what is it, Jungkook-ah?”
“I’m just happy.” Jungkook said with a strained voice.
His mind, though, quickly blanked when he realized Namjoon was hugging him. Jungkook freezed under Namjoon’s hold. If he remembered clearly, that was the first time Namjoon ever hugged him.
“What? You’re getting emotional because you get your first hug from Namjoon?” Yoongi didn’t even glance at them as he continued cooking.
Namjoon's eyes widened. “Wait, really?”
“Yeah, hyung. Maybe you should hug me more. I’m a tired single dad that deserves a lot of love, after all.” Jungkook said, decided to play along.
Jungkook expected Namjoon to let go of his hold around him, but instead he tightened his arms around him. “Aw sorry, baby, I’ll try to give you more hugs.”
Baby? The word rang through Jungkook’s mind, as his face flushed. He really didn’t know what happened to him this morning. Of course that ‘baby’ was directed at him as platonic as possible. After all, Namjoon and Yoongi had considered him like a brother, so why is he so affected by it?
When Namjoon finally stepped back, letting go of his hold of him to help Yoongi with something, Jungkook wanted to whine in disappointment. There’s no question that Namjoon’s frame is bigger than Jungkook, he could easily envelop Jungkook in a big and warm hug. Despite the cold weather that made him and Yoongi shivered, Namjoon’s skin felt as warm as the coffee he just drank. Jungkook wanted it to last longer.
“Kook, hey, pass me the salt.” Yoongi shoved Jungkook lightly with the handle of his spatula.
“Right. Sorry, hyung.”
“You can check on Bitna if you want. I’ll take care of the rest.”
Jungkook nodded and left without a word. Maybe Jungkook did need a few minutes to clear his head, away from the distraction that was his hyung. Why did he keep feeling like that? He definitely should have snapped out of it and took a deep breath. He promised himself to help his hyung get together so why was his heart felt the other way around? As much as he wanted to ignore it, he couldn't just forget the way his heart raced under Yoongi’s and Namjoon’s gaze or that their touch sent shivers down his spine. He really needed to stop getting in their way.
---
“I’m so sorry, hyung. There’s something wrong and they need me to help check on the editing team.”
It’s Monday, Jungkook just got a call past noon and Bitna’s usual babysitter couldn’t come, not that Jungkook didn’t expect it since it was so sudden. He was really excited when he woke up this morning and got to relax all day since the next shooting schedule is in a week but apparently, the universe got a different plan for him.
“It’s alright, Kook. Yoongi would be back in an hour or two. He just needed to check the bag production.”
“You’re sure? You have class, right?”
“I’m sure my students would love to see Bitna again, so don’t worry.”
Jungkook still felt bad that something like this happened again. “Okay, Bitna. Be a good girl and don’t distract uncle Joonie too much when he’s teaching okay? Just play near him, okay?”
“Okay, daddy.” Bitna smiled before giving Jungkook a goodbye kiss. “Careful, okay?”
“Of course, baby, I will.”
Jungkook finally looked up and smiled at Namjoon who was wearing glasses— The ones he always used when he has a teaching schedule. Jungkook wasn’t sure if he ever told Namjoon that he looked good with those, but he definitely needed to say it now. “You look good with those glasses, hyung.”
Namjoon’s cheeks suddenly tinted with rosy pink and he looked away, refusing to look Jungkook in the eye. “Thank you. My students told me that too.”
“What a privilege to have a teacher like you, huh?”
“If you’re here only to embarrass me, just go, Jungkook.” There was no ill intention when Namjoon said that. He just simply didn’t want to be a blushing mess in front of Jungkook and Bitna.
“Fine, I’ll tease you again later when I’m back.”
---
It took longer than Jungkook thought it would. The sun was ready to set, tinting the clouds with pretty hues of orange and yellow. Jungkook knocked on the door a few times but no one answered the door. Even if Namjoon was still in class, Yoongi should’ve been back home, right?
Jungkook waited for about three minutes, then he remembered Namjoon gave him a spare key before he left. He shoved his hand inside his bag and blindly looked for it somewhere between his stuff.
“Finally.” He breathed out.
The place was dead quiet when Jungkook finally came in. No sign of Bitna's laugh or cheer and no sound of Namjoon explaining pre-calculus to highschoolers. Yoongi was nowhere to be seen too, even in his usual spot on the couch, until Jungkook walked a bit closer to it and saw Namjoon was sleeping with Bitna there. Their breathing was steady, limbs tangled around each other. Jungkook's first thought is how cute they looked together and he quickly got his phone to take some pictures.
He never saw Namjoon sleep before but his hyung is definitely a pretty sleeper. Maybe Yoongi would disagree since he often complains about Namjoon’s snore, but what Jungkook saw here was far from that.
“What are you doing?”
Jungkook yelped in surprise when he heard a voice from behind him. He desperately clutched his phone as he almost dropped it on top of Namjoon’s face.
“Hyung, you scared me.” Jungkook scream-whispered. “Did you just teleport? How come I didn’t hear you coming in?”
“Maybe you didn’t hear me because you were busy smiling and taking pictures of Namjoon and Bitna?” Yoongi smirked as he set his coat aside.
Jungkook then realized he just fucked up his plan again . “I’m so sorry, hyung. I’ll make sure to send you the pictures.”
Yoongi frowned, confused as to why Jungkook even apologized for taking pictures. “Why are you apologizing, Kook? But sure, I’d love to have the pictures.”
Jungkook didn’t even know why he made it such a big deal? Of course Yoongi wouldn’t be jealous or something. Friends took pictures of each other so why did he overthink it? “Right. I’ll send it to you later.”
“Oh, Kook-ah. You’re home?” He really shouldn’t be affected by Namjoon’s hoarse voice, especially when his daughter was in the room. But Jungkook couldn’t help the shivers that ran down his spine when he heard it. “Hyung too?”
Jungkook cleared his throat, trying to clear his mind. “Yeah, he just arrived too.”
“Sorry, I was tired and Bitna decided to join me.”
“I’m sorry if she tires you out, hyung.”
“No, I barely got any sleep last night so I was just sleepy.” When Namjon moved to sit, Bitna stirred and woke up.
“Daddy?”
“Hey, baby. I’m sorry it took longer than I thought. You had a good nap?”
Bitna smiled lazily. “Uh-huh, Joonie is warm.”
“That’s great, baby. You’re hungry?”
“I ordered take out. Pretty sure we're all too tired to cook tonight." One of many things Jungkook loves about Yoongi is the fact that he was so considerate and thoughtful. The gesture might not appear big, but Jungkook really appreciated it.
As they all gathered together to eat later, Yoongi brought up the topic of hanging out again since they'd been busy with each other's schedule.
"Should we check out the new amusement park this weekend?"
"When was the last time I came to an amusement park? I feel old." Namjoon added.
Jungkook knew this was the chance he had been waiting for. He felt kind of bad since he was sure Bitna wanted to go, but they also could go anytime when Jungkook is free. This perfect chance should be able to nudge his hyung a little bit, right?
"I don't think we can go." With every strength he had left in his body, Jungkook hoped his hyung didn't notice the lie coming out of his mouth. "I have a personal date with Bitna." Jungkook added.
"Oh? What are we going to do, daddy?"
"It's a secret between us, so I'll let you know later." Jungkook playfully winked at Bitna.
Yoong hummed, thinking of a solution. "Then we could all go together the next—"
"No—" Jungkook's voice came out a bit louder than he intended. "You two should go together this weekend."
'It's alright, we can wait for—"
"I'll pay the ticket!" Okay, maybe Jungkook didn't think about it thoroughly. He hoped they still have the new opening discount. "Since they still offer discounts, right?"
"Yeah I think they still have the discount until the end of month." Jungkook cheered silently when Namjoon confirmed it after he looked at the websites.
"Great!" Jungkook said, but he immediately cleared his throat, feeling awkward when Yoongi looked at him questionably. "Um, take some pictures for me?"
"I guess we can't let the chance to go there for free slip through our fingers, huh Joon?"
Namjoon huffed out a laugh. "Yeah, I guess so."
Thanks to his quick thinking, Jungkook got his first win as a wingman. Hopefully it'll be a nice experience for them together even if it was not exactly a date.
---
"Kook-ah, wanna grab lunch with us?" Namjoon and Yoongi were already in their coat, ready to go out. "We texted you but you didn't answer."
"Sorry, hyung. I already cooked lunch." Jungkook hoped they didn't catch him lying through his teeth. "Maybe next time? You two can go eat lunch together without me."
This was exactly the third time his hyung had asked to hang out or just simply eat with him like usual but he refused to go with them. Jungkook thought it would be great for them to spend more time together so he would stay like this at least for a while.
"We miss you and Bitna." Namjoon said, his eyes didn't lie when he told Jungkook that.
Jungkook's heart ached. He felt bad but he really wanted them to get more time together. For these past few months, Jungkook thought he was just being in the way of them getting together. "Sorry, hyung."
He could feel Yoongi's piercing gaze, probably wondering why he had been avoiding them. Not even a week ago they still hung out like usual and now Jungkook seemed to be running from them.
"If you're going through something, you can always share it with us, Kook."
"I'm fine, Yoongi hyung. I promise."
It was all fine. At least that's what Jungkook wanted to believe. He missed his hyung a lot and Bitna had been asking him about them a lot lately. Just a little more push , Jungkook thought to himself.
---
"Jungkook is definitely avoiding us." Yoongi said after ordering. "Did we do something wrong?" He added.
Now that Namjoon thought about it, Jungkook did seem to be avoiding them after their sleepover. Though he couldn't remember anything that might have caused Jungkook to be avoiding them like this.
"I don't think I remember doing or saying something that might hurt him, hyung."
"I'm worried he might be having a hard time and purposely pushing us away because of it."
Namjoon sighed. "Maybe you should check on him later."
"Why don't we check on him later?"
“I just thought he trusts you more than me.” That got him a nasty glare from Yoongi. Fuck. He shouldn't have said that.
“Fucking bullshit.” Yoongi scoffed. “Have you seen the way that kid looks at you? His already big eyes went even bigger and it sparkled like some kind of Disney movie.”
“Okay but have you seen him looking at you? He always goes to you for help and advice. Not to mention that he always gets so touchy with you. He rarely asks me for a hug.” For god's sake, Namjoon didn’t plan to let out all the feelings and jealousy he had been keeping to only him and him all these times but his mouth seemed to lose its filter.
“That’s because he knew you didn't particularly like hugs. But he already figured that I actually love physical affection from him even if I acted like I don’t. Tell him Joon.”
“He likes you.” The words just came out of Namjoon's mouth like that. Maybe it was jealousy or maybe it was in the spite of the moment but Namjoon couldn’t care less. “He likes you and I don’t want to get in the way.”
It was silence after that. Namjoon wanted to look away from Yoongi, run somewhere to clear his head and curse himself if he could, but his body won’t move. There was no way he could take back what he said. It hurted him to say it outloud, to admit that he knew Jungkook likes Yoongi and he would be left alone with his feelings later. The feeling even he doesn't understand.
“Are you being serious right now?”
“I-i know you li—”
Namjoon flinched when Yoongi hit the table firmly. Not too loud, but enough to shut him up. “Let’s talk about this later when we’re not surrounded by strangers.”
---
When they arrived though, they ended up not talking about it and a week passed since then. Yoongi tried to bring it up but Namjoon always came up with an excuse to avoid it. Great , he thought. Not only one, but two people now avoided him. The fact that a new product launch was near, got him really busy preparing for it and it didn’t help Yoongi to try and talk with either of his friends like an adult.
Yoongi groaned when he thought about his conversation with Namjoon that day. He was dumbfounded when Namjoon figured out that he likes Jungkook but he didn’t realize Yoongi’s feelings for him even after months of flirting? He really just wanted to kiss Namjoon then and there and scream, are you really that oblivious? after that.
The way Namjoon’s eyes furrowed, lips bitten red, and ‘hurt’ written all over his face, Yoongi couldn’t figure out if he was jealous because he likes Jungkook or that he thought Jungkook likes him. Maybe they both liked Jungkook? This was why he sometimes hated dealing with feelings, and now he got himself to deal with two other people's feelings.
Tomorrow would probably be the only chance he got to check and talk with Jungkook. Though he was not sure if he actually had time to talk to Jungkook in between, because they would be busy shooting tomorrow.
---
The clouds moved, overshadowing the sky as the wind moved the trees and leaves. It might rain anytime soon, but Jungkook probably shouldn’t worry about it too much since he’s shooting indoors today.
Yoongi asked him to shoot a short promotional video for his new product and the timing was perfect since he didn’t have any schedule that week. His tight fitting jeans probably wouldn’t be comfortable later in the day, but Jungkook felt like he wanted to look as good as Yoongi in his working outfit. Would he even be able to focus with slicked back haired Yoongi in his formal suit?
“Oh, Jungkook-ah, you’re here.” As Jungkook thought, Yoongi gave off a really different vibe when he was not home. Somehow he appeared bigger and more serious even when his kind smile was still adorable on his face. “I’m sorry I couldn’t drive you. I need to be here really early.”
“No, it’s alright, hyung. I’m fine by myself.” Jungkook could feel the stare of Yoongi’s co-worker burning into the back of his head. “Ah, did I choose the wrong clothes?”
“I think they’re enjoying…” Yoongi’s eyes travel from Jungkok’s head to toe. “The view.” He added, smirking like he didn’t know how that gesture might affect Jungkook
“Hey, you look good. The pants fit you really well.”
“Ah, hyung, stop it.”
Yoongi laughed, with his gummy smile, that seemed to appear often when he was around Bitna, him, and Namjoon. Jungkook could feel the stare now shifted, directed to Yoongi’s smile instead of his pants, not that he could blame everyone there for staring at his hyung's pretty smile.
“Are you going on a date after this? You dressed exceptionally nice, today. Finally got someone to impress, huh?”
Yeah, it’s you.
As much as Jungkook wanted to ignore the blooming feelings inside him, he couldn’t help it most of the time. “Ah, no. I just don’t want to look out of place.”
“I’m just teasing, Kook.” Yoongi’s big hand suddenly on top of his head, ruffling his hair, something his hyung always does to him from time to time. “I need to check on something so feel free to eat some snacks there while you prepare, alright?” Yoongi pointed at the table full of snacks and left.
“Jungkook-ssi.” An older woman greeted him with a smile on her face. “Yoongi told me to assist you today, so if you have any questions just ask me, okay?”
“Ah, thank you... “
“Sorry, I forgot to give you my name. I’m Eunji.”
“Thank you, Eunji-ssi.” Jungkook glad everyone here seems to be friendly. There are always times where he worked between people whose strictly ‘business’ only and appeared to be a bit unfriendly.
“I’m glad Yoongi finally found a boyfriend.” Eunji giggled. “He used to look lonely but he appeared to be so much happier these days.”
“W-wait. I’m not his boyfriend.” There was no way everyone thought they were together just because they talked earlier, right?
“Ah, I’m so sorry. Yoongi talked very highly about you yesterday to me and you both seemed really close before so I just assumed…“
For days, maybe weeks, Jungkook convinced himself that he shouldn’t be feeling like this. That he didn’t like Yoongi that way. But to be told that made him feel happy in a way. “Ah, we’re just friends.”
Eunji dropped the topic and proceeded to give Jungkook more details about the shooting and Jungkook was glad she did. Having to lie every time his hyung asked him to hang out for the sake of his best wingman plan was hard, especially when deep down, Jungkook knew he wanted to be with them all the time too. His plan though, seemed not to be working quite well. At first he didn’t notice the change, but after a particular day, Yoongi and Namjoon stopped persuading him to hang out with them. Even the group chat that previously filled with his hyungs arguing over groceries and Jungkook responds to laugh at them, now deserted. Even last night, when Yoongi asked him to come over to go through the details one more time, Namjoon quickly entered his room wordlessly. Jungkook had a feeling that they got into an argument? Maybe his plan backfired?
---
It was already dark when they finished the shooting. Yoongi and Jungkook decided to eat at the restaurant two blocks away. Since it was near and the restaurant didn’t have a parking space, Jungkook suggested that they walk there. It took some time to convince Yoongi to walk when it was windy outside, but he agreed eventually.
“If I freeze to death, I’m gonna make sure Bitna bites your ear when you're asleep.”
Jungkook huffed out a laugh. His breath was warm compared to the wind outside. “Come on hyung, it’s not that bad.”
“My hands are freezing.” Jungkook didn’t expect Yoongi to just reach for his hand and intertwined their fingers together. When Jungkook glanced at Yoongi, his breath hitched.
Yoongi’s face glowed under the streetlight. His nose and cheeks were tinted pink, though Jungkook is unsure if it was because of the cold or it was the blush caused by his hyung's bold gesture. Jungkook had been trying to suppress his feelings, constantly telling himself not to get caught in his crush that he shouldn't even have in the first place.
“Namjoon hyung told me one time that you look pretty when you’re cold. I agree.” It was a lie. Jungkook wanted to tell Yoongi that he looked pretty but he was too scared to be honest with his feelings. Afraid he would fall even deeper.
“Ah, that guy. Not sure if he was just teasing me or genuine about that.”
“I’m sure he’s genuine about it. He adores you a lot.” The expression that surfaced on Yoongi’s face was something Jungkook had never seen before. He was unsure of what to interpret from it.
“Can you believe that someone as smart as him could be oblivious about love?”
Jungkook almost stumbled on his own foot when Yoongi said that. That was the first time Yoongi ever brought up the topic. “Maybe with Joon hyung, they should talk about feelings blatantly.”
“You’re right.” Yoongi said, there’s sadness lacing his voice.
Yoongi swiped his thumbs around Jungkook’s warm hand ever so softly. It was silly how Jungkook’s heart started to beat faster by that simple thing. Between all those people and cars passing by them, all Jungkook could think about was if Yoongi could hear how loud his heart was beating.
He kept telling himself not to fall, but his heart seemed to not be able to hold it anymore.
---
“Yoongi hyung is not home, hyung?”
“No, he just left for a meeting like ten minutes ago.”
“Uncle Joonie! Look at my ponytail!” Bitna jumped, trying to get Namjoon’s attention. “Daddy did it for me.”
“Aw, you’re so pretty, Bitna.” Bitna seemed to be satisfied once Namjoon complimented her. “Maybe you should just stop hiring the babysitter Kook. I’ll be more than happy to take care of her.”
“No, definitely no, hyung. You’re busy already.”
“Just pretend this is my practice to be a dad, yeah?”
“Alright, whatever you say.” Jungkook chuckled. “Bitna, Daddy will go to work now. Be a good girl, okay?”
“Okay, daddy!”
---
It had been a busy week for Jungkook. He drove around town to shoot videos here and there, came home late at night and barely got any sleep. It was a shame that he was shooting a video for a flash mob that would happen at the local zoo and didn’t get to bring Bitna there. Not that he could take care of her when he is working, but Bitna had never been to this zoo before.
The sun was shining exceptionally hot today for some reasons. Days like this were not Jungkook’s favorite time to shoot outdoors as it tires him out pretty quickly and that was why he found himself sitting under the tree at the park area, feeling a bit lightheaded.
“Daddy!” Someone suddenly launched themselves into Jungkook’s laps. Thankfully, Jungkook got a good reflex and caught them on time. “Bitna? Why are you here?”
“Joonie and I came to surprise you!” Then, Jungkook noticed Namjoon standing behind him.
“Surprise?”
“Hyung, I thought you have class?”
Namjoon sat down beside Jungkook with a huff. “Nope. It’s still later in the evening.”
“Have you been here for long?"
“Pretty much. We looked at the animals before we finally found you here. By accident. I was about to call you.”
Namjoon was always so thoughtful. He did say he would be shooting at the zoo and felt a bit disappointed that he couldn’t bring Bitna with him, so Namjoon took the matter to his hands.
“I hope you don’t mind I bring Bitna here by bus.”
Jungkook shook his head. “Of course, not. But I’ll drive us home.”
“I want to see duckies!” Jungkook didn’t even notice the ducks near the pond. He was too focused on hiding from the sun.
“Okay, let’s go see the ducks.”
He was not sure if what he felt was the wind or just how fast Bitna ran towards the pond, but what Jungkook was sure about, he needed to catch Bitna before she bumped into someone. “Bitna don’t—” All Jungkook’s blood rushed through his head and he lost his balance, falling on his ass.
“Jungkook—” Namjoon was about to help Jungkook but then he remembered Bitna just ran off. “Wait, I’ll catch Bitna first.”
He really need to sleep once he got home, Jungkook thought. “Bitna, you can’t just run like that okay? You could bump into someone else and hurt yourself.” Jungkook said once he caught up on Bitna and Namjoon.
“Sorry, Daddy.”
“You’re alright, Jungkook?” Worry filled Namjoon’s face as the man checked Jungkook’s temperature with his palm.
“I’m fine, hyung. Just a bit tired.”
Namjoon rummaged through his bag, looking for something. “Here, drink this.” He handed Jungkook his water bottle. It felt fresh and cold compared to his body temperature.
“Thanks, hyung.”
“Uncle Joonie, do you think duckies feet got cold like me? I always wear socks.”
“Actually, ducks' feet can’t feel cold so they don’t need socks, Bitna.”
“Really? Aw so they can’t wear socks with cat ears?” Bitna pouted innocently.
“They can fly really high like planes, though.” Jungkook added, sighing in contentment after he gulped down the drink Namjoon gave him. “What?” Bitna was looking at him with sparkly eyes, whereas Namjoon eyes were blown.
“Didn’t know you’re into ducks.”
“I’m into,” you “Men, hyung.”
Namjoon’s laugh was crisp as his eyes turned into a crescent moon. “Right, me too.”
---
It was an hour before the zoo closed. After walking around the zoo, looking at all kinds of animals, it was finally decided that Bitna’s favorite animal is ‘deer’ as the girl stated that it looked like his daddy. Apparently, Namjoon agreed and bought him a deer headband that he thought is a great idea to tease Jungkook, which caused Bitna to laugh for two minutes straight, looking at him.
“She had a great time.” Namjoon said, sitting beside Jungkook on the bench. His eyes still glued to the deer headbands Jungkook decided to wear until he got home. “I wish I could sleep as fast as a three year old.”
Jungkook hummed as he waited for his hyung to tear his gaze from him, but it wouldn’t happen anytime soon. The smile of Namjoon’s face stayed, or rather, got even bigger the longer he looks at Jungkook. His dimples appeared even deeper than Jungkook remembered, it looked as if Jungkook could swim inside of it, the small yet deep and warm hollow on Namjoon’s cheeks.
The birds Jungkook doesn’t know the name of chirped loudly, snapping Jungkook and helping him gain the strength to look away from Namjoon. “Can you stop looking at me, hyung?”
“But you’re cute.”
How come such words could easily come out of Namjoon’s mouth like it was nothing? “I’m gonna take this off.” Jungkook said, blushing as he was about to take off the deer headband but Namjoon stopped him. “I knew I should’ve let Bitna wear this instead of me.”
“No, keep it, I’m going to send it to Yoo—” Namjoon slowly lowered his phone, his expression turned sour as he locked his phone again.
“Did you get into an argument with hyung?”
Namjoon only sighed, he didn’t confirm nor deny it. “It was not exactly an argument. It was something…“ He hesitated, playing with his phone in his hands. “It was something we were too hesitant to talk about.”
Somehow Jungkook felt like in a way, this was his fault. He doesn’t even know what happened between his hyung but his gut feeling told him that it has something to do with him. “I’m sorry.”
“Why are you sorry?”
“I don’t know.”
Jungkook huffed, looking down at Bitna’s limbs falling on either side of his legs. He looked up, only to find Namjoon’s hand on his hair and his hyung's face a mere inch away from his. Jungkook’s breath hitched, time seemed to move so slowly, as if this was a scene out of a drama he secretly watches once Bitna sleeps every night. In this proximity, Jungkook could see the way Namjoon’s eyelashes fluttered and smell the soft fresh scent of the cologne he uses. For a split second, Jungkook was so sure Namjoon is about to kiss him. His hyung’s eyes glued at his parted lips for a second until Namjoon retreated his hand from Jungkook’s hair, finally realizing the situation they were in and frantically moved back he almost fell to the ground.
The blush on Namjoon’s face was as red as the parrot’s feather they saw before. “Sorry, there’s a leaf that fell to your hair.” The leaf fell from Namjoon’s quivering hand, swept by the wind once again.
It was no use to deny his feelings after all that, Jungkook thought to himself. His heart fastened, he could hear it on his ear, thumping as if it was looking for a way out of his chest. Falling for Yoongi was easy. Falling for Namjoon was also easy, but the hardest part for Jungkook is to admit that he likes them. It was hard to ignore it and mask his feelings as brotherly love, even to the point that he forced himself to be their wingman though either of his hyungs asked for it, and failed miserably. Jungkook was determined to get over it and let his hyungs take care of their pining alone and let them be happily together after that. But his heart wouldn’t let go of them that easily.
“S-should we go home now? I’m afraid Bitna might catch a cold sleeping outside like this.”
“Right. Let’s go.”
Jungkook followed Namjoon who immediately stood up, his legs feeling wobbly. The walk to the car was awkward and Namjoon still refused to look at him even after they arrived at their apartment parking lot.
---
Jungkook remembered when and where exactly he fell asleep. His hand twitched when it didn’t feel the material of his couch and his hand met with the soft sheets of his bed. For some reason though, his body felt heavy when he moved it. A hushed voice was heard from outside of his room, voices that he could recognize.
The door creaked open, letting the light come in from the living room. Jungkook squinted his eyes as he tried to make out the blurry figure approaching him. As he finally gained his vision, Jungkook could see it was Yoongi.
“Hey, you’re awake.”
“Hey, hyung. I don't remember moving here.” His voice came out hoarse.
“Joonie carried you here.” Jungkook couldn’t really make out what Yoongi brought but he could smell it was something delicious. “Your fever has gone down.” Yoongi said after checking Jungkook’s temperature with his palm.
“Huh?” After Yoongi said that, now he could see why his body felt heavy. “I was fine this morning.”
“I know you worked really hard, Kook. It’s not easy to raise a child alone, but you also need rest.”
“I’m sorry I always caused you trouble.” Yoongi glared at him, but despite his stamina right now, Jungkook could still giggle at that. “Okay, I’ll shut up.”
“Jungkook-ah.” Namjoon sighed, sitting at the edge of his bed. “I’m sorry I didn’t notice that you were sick."
“No, hyung. I think it was after we got home so it’s fine.” The bed creaked a bit when he sat up. “Where’s Bitna?”
“She’s asleep on the couch. Insisted to wait for you to wake up but it was already her bedtime, so...”
Jungkook looked around, looking for his phone. “What time is it now?”
“It’s almost nine.” Yoongi said. “You need to eat. Want me to help?” The spoon was ice cold when Jungkook touched it. Or perhaps it was his body that’s hot.
“I’m fine, hyung. I’ll manage.”
“Alright then. Joon, come one help me wash the dishes after you move Bitna here.”
Namjoon stopped for a while, hesitating if he should really leave Jungkook alone.
“I’m fine hyung, I promise.”
“I should’ve known he was about to get sick.” The running water was the only thing Namjoon could hear as he waited for Yoongi to talk.
“Don’t beat yourself up like that. It was not that bad, he’ll recover in no time, Joon. Jungkook is strong, you know that.”
Hard to believe that they both were already this familiar around Jungkook’s kitchen as if it was their own. Namjoon believes he could probably move around with his eyes closed.
“I almost did something I would regret.” Namjoon sighed. “I’m sorry, I know you like Jungkook and I already made sure that he likes you back, hyung.”
Namjoon could see Yoongi’s fingers turning white as he clutched tightly onto the spoon. “I’m sorry.”
“How do you know that exactly? How do you know that it’s me that he likes instead of you? How can you be so oblivious yet so observant of others feelings, Namjoon-ah?”
Namjoon was stunned. Clearly Yoongi was trying not to raise his voice since Bitna was already asleep and Jungkook could easily walk in on them anytime. Mixed feelings were written all over his face, Namjoon couldn’t point whether Yoongi was more frustrated or mad.
“W-what do you mean, hyung?”
“You know that polyamory exists, right?”
It was enough of a hint for Namjoon to know what Yoongi wanted to tell him. Though he didn’t want to entertain his thoughts just yet, Namjoon calms himself down to answer. “Of course I know. But what does it have to do with—”
“It’s exactly what you think about. You know it.”
Namjoon could tell Yoongi was trying to hide his blush as he turned his back on Namjoon. Pretending to wipe all the plates clean when he just did that a minute ago. His mind was racing, all kinds of questions popped up inside him. He wanted to cheer out of happiness, but the doubts were still there.
“But what if Jungkook… You know.”
“We should talk to him about it.” Yoongi finally turned around and looked at him, red adorning his pale skin perfectly. “But… You’re open to it, right?”
“Yeah, hyung.”
“Just know that I won’t confess now.” Yoongi refused to look at Namjoon when he said that. “I want Jungkook to be there too.”
“What if it turns out bad?”
Yoongi sighed deeply as he playfully hit Namjoon’s stomach. “Can you stop being so negative?”
“I’m just being honest. I’m scared.”
“And you think I’m not? I just don’t want to overthink it in case I changed my mind.”
Namjoon furrowed his eyebrows, confused. “Your mind about liking Jungkook?”
“About confessing you fool.”
A moment before Yoongi’s fist hit his stomach again for the second time in the span of two minutes, Namjoon stopped him and pulled his hyung into a hug. “I've always wanted to do this."
“Ah, Joon-ah you’re too warm.” Yoongi groaned but he didn’t even try to escape other than complaining about it.
“Shut up you like it.”
Jungkook felt like a fool when he stepped into the kitchen. He wanted to laugh, but his eyes said otherwise. It started to prickle and his chest tightened. Such a way to end the day, Jungkook thought to himself. He should be happy for his hyungs, right? After all, it was all he wanted for them from the start. So why did it hurt really bad to see them hugging like this? It was not the usual hug Yoongi and Jungkook usually gave each other. Not to mention that Namjoon and Yoongi didn’t really hug each other, so the only explanation was that they finally got together.
“It’s about time.” Jungkook said, startling them both. Namjoon and Yoongi quickly got away from each other, eyes blown wide when they noticed Jungkook was there. “I always knew you guys were pining after each other.” Jungkook could feel his throat was about to close up, hence why his voice came out a bit strained. His hyung would probably think it was because of the fever.
“No, Jungkook—” Namjoon panicked, trying to explain the situation but Jungkook cut him off.
“I was trying to get you guys together but I guess you guys didn’t really need my help, huh.”
“Couch.” Yoongi practically dragged Jungkook to the couch while Namjoon followed them behind closely.
Yoongi didn't think about the possibility of Jungkook walking in on them like that thoroughly. Of course this would happen. He thought he still got at least a full day to prepare for this. In all honesty, he feels like throwing up right now.
“Okay, so why do we need to sit? I’m happy for you guys.”
“First of all, I’m sure you guys know I’m not the best at talking about feelings, but I’m gonna try.” Yoongi took a deep breath though he was unsure on where to actually start. “I’ve liked you, for quite some time.” Yoongi glanced at Namjoon. Even though Namjoon had expected it, to hear it directly for Yoongi definitely made this feel even more real.
“I flirted and tried so many things for him to notice it, but he was still oblivious. Until today, can you believe it?” Yoongi huffed out a laugh. “Then you came, Jungkook-ah.”
Jungkook gulped. Could this be the time when his hyung told he had always been in the way? “What about me?”
“You came with Bitna and you were so timid around us. Until we finally got comfortable with each other and we could see your true personality.” Yoongi could feel his cold hands trembling, he gulped and tried to look at Jungkook in the eyes. “You’re such a brat.” Yoongi didn’t know if he should laugh and joke around in this situation, but he was nervous. “Cute brat.”
“For me it was not hard to admit that I also like you, Jungkook-ah.”
Jungkook's heart stuttered. It took a good few seconds for him to really comprehend what Yoongi just said. His gaze then flew to Namjoon.
"I like you too, Kook-ah." Namjoon simply said with his usual soft smile on his face.
Jungkook stayed rooted to where he was. His breathing became a bit staggered, trying to process what is happening right now. "I'm—"
"Let me finish." Namjoon said. "It was when you kissed me. I mean, it was the time that I was sure that I like you. I think it was even before that, but that peck was what made me admit it." Namjoon stopped for a second to catch a breath. "At least to myself."
Jungkook remembered that day as clear as day. He thought it was not his bestest day when his plan was ruined because of a silly game he couldn't win. But the universe is indeed full of surprises.
"Also hyung, I'm not that oblivious. I think I got a feeling, but I was too scared to act on it."
"You're still oblivious. I don't take any criticism, Joon."
"Fuck." Jungkook breathed out. That was a lot to take in at the same time. "I was ready to cry myself to sleep."
Jungkook could feel the tears start to pool in the corner of his eyes. "I was so determined to be your best wingman but ended up liking both of you in the process."
"What?" Yoongi and Namjoon asked, dumbfounded.
"I noticed that you were pining and I had this plan of helping you two get together but I failed miserably." Why does he need to confess in the state like this? His brain was already fucked enough by the fever. "That's why I started to avoid you guys because I thought I was in the way."
"Baby." The warmth of Namjoon's hug, the one Jungkook was craving for, finally enveloped him like a comfortable blanket.
"That's the second time you called me baby, hyung."
"I did?" Yoongi gave Namjoon a nasty glare.
"What? Even I noticed."
"Anyway," Jungkook sniffled, wiping his nose with the sleeve of his— "Wait. This is your hoodie, Namjoon hyung. Sorry I got my snot all over it."
Jungkook could feel Namjoon's hot breath on his neck when he laughed. "It's alright. You look cute in it."
"You really are big, Kook. It felt like I'd drowned in it when I wore that, but it's just simply oversized for you."
"Back to my confession." It was a bit nerve-racking to admit his feelings out loud to his hyung when Jungkook hadn't even said it out loud to himself.
"So I beat myself up and tried to convince myself that I shouldn't be feeling this way. I shouldn't like two guys at the same time. Two guys who are pining after each other on top of that." Jungkook took a deep breath as he looked at his hyung in the eyes. "I like you both so much. This almost feels like a fever dream."
"See, Joon? He's fine, he still could make a joke about it."
Namjoon chucked. "I'm still worried though. He really shouldn't have overworked himself."
"You don't have to beat yourself because of your feelings anymore, Jungkook." It was the gentlest smile Yoongi ever gave him, Jungkook could just melt right there and then. "You're open to polyamorous relationships, right?"
"Yeah. I mean… I just did some research to learn more about it a few days ago." It was purely for educational purposes only (or so Jungkook thought). "But, it's my first time, so please be patient with me."
"It's our first time, Kook. Me and Yoongi had never been in a polyamorous relationship either."
"Right." Jungkook said, still dazed. "I freaked out when Namjoon hyung was about to kiss me today."
"So that's the something you were talking about, Joon?"
It was funny to see Namjoon stammered over his words, trying to explain it. "I'm glad I didn't though. Because I'm sure it'll lead to even more misunderstandings if I kissed you there."
"Then it would be okay if we kissed now, right?" Jungkook didn't know what came into him and how he became so bold. But when Namjoon blushed for who knows how many times today, he knew it was worth it.
"I-i mean—"
Jungkook didn't want to waste any more time waiting for this moment. He pulled Namjoon's face and crashed their lips together. Namjoon gasped out of surprise which made him freeze for a second before he responded to Jungkook's kiss. Kissing Namjoon didn't make Jungkook see fireworks nor stars. But it was soft, warm, as if the sun rose back to the sky and Jungkook was basking under it. His lips were plump and a bit chapped because of the cold, but it was sweet.
"I always wanted to do that." Jungkook said as he caught his breath, thumb softly caressing the apple of Namjoon's cheeks. He gave Namjoon one more peck before saying, "Now kiss Yoongi hyung."
Yoongi is the one who looks the most calm out of them all. He scooted over to where Namjoon was, taking his sweet time. Jungkook saw how pretty Yoongi looks when his eyes fluttered closed, sighing when Namjoon finally kissed him.
Jungkook gripped the edge of the couch, holding his breath as Yoongi's hold on Namjoon's hair locks tightened. But before they could be carried away even more, Namjoon broke the kiss. "Fuck hyung, you're so pretty."
"Shut up, you dork. I like you."
"I like you too."
"Come here baby." Jungkook didn't realize he had his mouth open the whole time until Yoongi called him. "You deserve a lot of kisses."
Jungkook felt giddy. He giggled when Yoongi attacked him with kisses, starting from his cheeks, his forehead, down to his neck, and lastly to his lips.
Jungkook got his hands around his hyung waist in no time, feeling how small Yoongi is under his touch. The little whimpers he let out drove Jungkook crazy, it took almost all his might not to pin Yoongi to the couch.
"God, I'd be happy even if I die today." Jungkook said breathlessly.
"Don't you dare die, brat. We just got together like half an hour ago."
Another pair of hands wrapped around Jungkook's torso. Namjoon's chest felt broad against his back, firmly pressed into him, the warmth circled around Jungkook's back.
"I'm happy." Who would've thought that Jungkook would land himself with not one but two amazing guys who not only adored him, but also his daughter. All those nights of him trying to get over his hyungs is unnecessary after all.
"Joon-ah. I think I might spoil Jungkook even more after this."
"And that would be two people spoiling Jungkook then."
"Alright hold on. Who said I can't spoil you both too? I have three years of experience of spoiling Bitna." Jungkook laughed when Yoongi and Namjoom attacked him with a kiss on either side of his cheeks.
"Once you recover, we're going on a date." Yoongi already had a couple of date ideas in mind. Although they would probably stay at home and watch Netflix for their first date.
"No we're not gonna watch Netflix as our first date." Namjoon suddenly said.
"You could read my mind or something?"
"It was written all over your face, hyung."
"Let's talk about the date tomorrow and cuddle now. I'm tired and sleepy." Jungkook whined, trying to get his way by pouting when Yoongi looked at him unamused.
"You just woke up, brat."
"Doesn't matter, I want cuddles."
