“Bennett.”
“Hm? Yes, Razor.” Bennett turns around to face him.
“We are… dating, right?”
Bennett blushes. Razor never seems to get embarrassed saying these types of things. Bennett’s never seen him blush either. Him, on the other hand, can’t help himself from being flustered.
“Yeah, we are.”
“There’s something I need to tell you.”
Bennett has never felt a chill as cold as the one that followed those words. It’s only been a few months and he’s being broken up with. That’s got to be it, right? What else could it be?
“Yeah,” Bennett says, bracing himself, “go ahead.”
Razor turns his whole body towards him and stares him in the eye.
“I love you.”
Bennett’s heart and mind stop working. He’s too shocked that for a moment he doesn’t realise what Razor just said.
“Huh?”
“I said I love you.”
His brain finally registers what is happening. He feels his face start to burn. Razor’s eye contact isn’t making things any better.
Bennett buries his face in his hands and lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding. “You really scared me there. I thought you were going to break up with me.” He peeks out through his hands at Razor.
“I would never do that,” he says confused. “I love you.”
“Ahhh, I get it, I get it! You can stop saying it now.”
“Does Bennett not like it?”
“No, it’s just that… It’s embarrassing, ok?”
Razor still looks confused but doesn’t say anything. There’s a small moment of silence before he speaks.
“Well?”
“What?”
“Are you going to say it back?”
“Oh.” Bennett’s face starts to turn red once again. He takes a deep breath and removes his face from his hands, trying to muster up some of the courage Razor had. “I love you too.”
Razor stills. “Say it again.”
“Huh?”
“Say it again.”
“I- I love you,”
“Again.”
Bennett sighs loudly. Why was he suddenly so demanding? “Razor. I love you. Always have, always will.”
Razor smiles and, if you look carefully, you could see the faintest blush on his cheeks.
