Work Text:
There’s something outside the castle’s garden, at the side where the opening mixes with the forest. Ochako can see a figure with her eyes squinted, there’s a dim aura surrounding it. She can hear a tune, so feint but so beautiful, it makes her want to chase after it.
So, that’s exactly what she does.
Not even bothering to put on her slippers or at least any sort of shoe, she starts running. The sound her bare feet makes on the marble floor echoes through the long corridor. She passes by the big oil paintings on the walls and the armor stands, and after dashing down god knows however many stairs the castle has, she arrives at the grand entrance. She continues running towards the dark oak doors, and she slips from the small gap between them.
The chilly evening breeze brushes past her, and she shivers. Her bare feet now grazes the rough stone of the stairs that go up to the front doors.
The figure is still there, it looks more visible with the moonlight reflecting off of it. The tune is louder now, it’s a girl—probably around her age—singing. She quickly climbs down the stairs. The damp grass tickles her feet, and the smell of soil after rain fills her lungs.
The figure gets closer and closer as she runs. The melody stops, and their eyes lock.
The figure is the figure of a young person, with long dark green hair that spills down from her shoulders and is tied into a simple ribbon around her waist. She’s wearing what looks like a simple white dress that goes up to her knees, but Ochako’s pretty sure whatever the dress is made out of is not any sort of human material. It looks so soft, so light, yet it resembles some sort of liquid.
There’s a curious smile on the person’s face as her wide eyes scan Ochako from top to bottom, and suddenly she feels flustered. The person’s pretty, oh so pretty, she can’t take her eyes off her. She looks so out of this world, ethereal, though she feels warm and it feels like home.
“G-good evening,” Ochako says softly.
“Good evening Princess,” the person responds, “I was hoping I’d get your attention."
