Seizure

Summary:

Moira had heard the word seizure before plenty of times during her stint as a villain. The police were seizing someone's property. She was seizing someone's property. She was sure she was going to be seized by All Might and brought straight to jail. However, this was not the type of seizure she was expecting.

Work Text:

Moira ran as hard as she could, feet pounding the pavement, as she attempted to escape the force of nature that was Japan’s current #1 hero. She is so irritated at the entire situation. Why was he even there? Such a petty crime like breaking an ATM doesn’t warrant his power! She jots into an alleyway, sides heaving, and continues to run at breakneck speeds. At this point, there was no way she would be able to evade him much longer.

The young woman slows her striding down as she feels her muscles burning like an inferno and this odd wave of tingling ripples across her scalp. She’s to her limit, and the only real solution she can think of is to give up. She bounces the last couple of steps and heaves in breaths to try and stop the odd tingling from taking over. She stumbles when one of her legs stiffens and cramps in place, her palms scraping against the wall. She collapses against the brick wall completely when her other leg goes.

She can barely hear the heavy stomps of All Mights boots running down the alleyway. But she can feel the tension in the air double its weight as he slows his approach and steps behind her. She attempts to push herself right on the wall, but the stiffness has slowly taken her mobility past her elbows. She grunts as the muscles in her stomach contract painfully, pushing her face into the wall further.

“Enough, Villain! You’re boxed in, and you can’t outrun me. Surrender peacefully, and your punishment may be lessened with your cooperation.”

“Please, I give up… I give up. Some… something’s wrong. P-please…” Moira barely slurred the words out of her mouth, which was numb, to begin with. She receives a heavy sigh in response and feels an enormous hand wrap itself around her upper arm. She’s firmly, but gently, yanked off the wall.

“Don’t think you can trick me….” Unfortunately for All Might, it wasn’t a trick and Moira had barely able to take two halted steps before she couldn’t support her own weight. She buckled and felt herself plummeting to the ground. Only the man’s quick movements stopped her from hitting the unforgiving ground completely and instead was leaning entirely against him, his arm supporting her back. “What are you doing? You said you gave up.”

But she couldn’t answer him. She tried, but when she opened her mouth to plead, her throat closed up sporadically and all that came out was a sharp, choking gurgle. Her throat wasn’t the only thing spasmodically jerking. Her stomach was going non-stop. Her hands started making clawing motions as they stiffened so much they hurt. Everything started aching as she felt her very bones grinding. She couldn’t move, and she was terrified. She didn’t understand what was going on.

“Hey. Hey! Shit.” She felt him gently grab her face and attempt to face it toward himself. She could barely pay attention. Everything was so disorienting and her eyelids didn’t want to cooperate. However, she did see him, his blonde hair, sharp blue eyes, and this strangely concerned expression. She did the only thing she could barely control and let a pitiful, pained whine out. Then did it again. And again. All between the cut off choking as her throat spazzed.

She was jostled a bit then laid down on her side, the man scooping a leg to twist her hips with her torso. Now her only view was the length of the ground in front of her. She was surprised that her head wasn’t bouncing off the pavement but instead felt All Mights hand cradling her skull softly. She felt like she was continually being tased, and it felt like an eternity had passed. But eventually, the jerking finally calmed and the muscles relaxed, tension melting away slowly. When the pressure lifted on her chest and neck, she took in a stuttered deep breath. She never thought air could smell so good. She took a couple more while a choked sob caught in her throat.

“That’s it. Just keep taking deep breaths. It’s almost over.” She heard All Might rumble from behind. His other hand still firmly on her hip, turned her back over to her back. She could barely keep her eyes open but All Might didn’t seem to care about getting her attention. She felt a thumb push her eyelid open on one side and then move to the other. She felt her head jerk, and then her knee followed. “Miss, can you understand me? Is this the first seizure you’ve experienced before?”

Seizure? She could barely vocalize any kind of response and it came out more like an indiscernible hum than a word. She was so tired that the world felt fuzzy. Her body felt like it was floating and she just wanted to sleep. How could you be awake and so tired at the same time?

“You can’t speak yet, then. That’s fine. Listen to me, you’re going to be OK. You just had a seizure. Thankfully, it seems to have passed for now. I’m going to pick you up and bring you to the nearest hospital.” He lifted her upper body up until it was leaning against his own chest. Then he wiggled an arm under her knees and lifted her up as he stood. She felt like a ragdoll, and it certainly didn’t help that the man was the size of a small mountain. She attempted to lift her head but lost strength halfway, and it flopped to the side. She let it lay there against his shoulder. “I have to jump now. It’ll be disorienting, but I promise you’re safe. I won’t drop you.”

Moira was jostled a bit more until her head and face were protected by his body. Then she felt a tremendous jolt ripple through them both. The world felt like it was flipped upside down, and her stomach leaped into her throat. She couldn’t help the small cry that slipped out. She felt herself being pressed closer to the hero. The landing wasn’t much better, and she was surprised she managed to keep her breakfast inside.

“We’ve arrived at the hospital. They’re going to take good care of you and figure this out. Eventually, I’ll be coming back with the police, and we can sort everything out when the time arises. For now, you just rest.”

Moira never listened to a hero so quickly in her life. She fell asleep as she was laid down on a hospital bed.

Notes:

This is just a very, very short one-shot. I really am just relaying the most important bits of my own first experience dealing with my first seizure (The sensations, the pain, the fatigue afterward) and putting it in a way to fit the MHA universe. Obviously, my heroes didn't wear spandex. Please, give your love, thoughts, and prayers to our medical workers out there.
