Work Text:

Ochako looked through the aisle of clothing, shirts, and hoodies flanking her as Izuku trailed behind her as she looked through the rows upon rows of hangers. Ochako looked at each article of clothing, each had its own brand design, fun little print, or an assortment of colors and patterns. Ochako examined a dozen different shirts, many of them dark green and grey, with a Deku printed theme on the front. Ochako then found a shirt that caught her eye, a green and pink hoodie jacket with printing of her fist with her fingerless gloved hand bumping fists with Izuku’s black armored gauntlet.

“Hey, Izuku. How does this look?” Ochako smiled as she proudly held the jacket to her torso, looking at Izuku with a wide grin to see whether he approved, which she knew he would.

Izuku blushed and smiled, holding up two thumbs up as Ochako grinned, folding the hoodie over her arm as she looked through other clothes. Izuku did his best to gather up his bearings, the bags of groceries, the few but heavy recipe books from the bookstore, and the clothing that he and Ochako were planning on getting. Izuku shrugged the bags further up his shoulders as Ochako finished grabbing what she wanted to try on.

Ochako stood in front of the wooden freestanding mirror, posing to see the fit of a pink sweater and dark green tights. She then thought of how she used to shop with her parents. Everything her parents could purchase was often on sale for clearance, handed down, or purchased for cheap. She didn’t always get to have nice clothes like this. Now here she is buying clothes she and her parents never got to buy, let alone shop for.

Is Ochako alright? Izuku thought as he saw Ochako looking at her reflection, her face somewhat melancholy as he walked over, taking glances at the bags in the shopping cart as he looked at her confused, almost sad, face. Izuku put his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder as he looked at the both of them. “Are you alright, Ochako?”

“Yeah, I’m okay. Just thinking,” Ochako looked at the two of them, her expression showing uncertainty as Izuku’s calm smile was right next to hers. “When I was growing up, I never got to have stuff like this. Being able to have all this. Groceries, nice clothes, all that stuff. It- it just- it feels weird.”

“Ochako, you’ve done so much for everyone you met. You’ve helped make an easy life for your parents. And throughout all the time you’ve helped others in your hero work, you found a place in your heart to love me. There’s nothing wrong with doing some things for yourself, you know?” Izuku said, looking at how beautiful Ochako looked in that little mirror. How her smile complimented the pink blush marks on her cheeks. How her hair, which was tied up in a bun, revealed her ears turning a lovely shade of bright red as he kissed her cheek.

“Look how beautiful you are,” Izuku cooed, his arms hugging her waist as his smile brightened with hers. “You’re kind, strong, compassionate, and heroic. You’re the loveliest person I know.”

“Thanks, Izuku.” Ochako smiled, putting her hand over his to make his bright red cheeks match hers.
