“that’s it for today guys, thank you all so much for bearing with me”, hoseok clapped his hands smiling brightly. “i know i’m an ass for keeping you in practice on valentine’s day but at least you have the whole evening”, he grinned, winking at jimin and yoongi, the blue-haired boy rolling his eyes while yoongi just huffed, blowing a stray strand of black hair out of his eyes, still pissy over the fact that his boyfriend wouldn’t let him do anything other than footwork.
“hyung, it’s only five pm”, jungkook laughed, picking up his dance sneakers and tossing them into his duffle.
“yeah, well”, jimin grumbled. “still way too late in my opinion.”
“well, we’re out”, namjoon grinned, ruffling his silver hair and wrapping an arm around jin’s shoulder. “i’m taking jin out for dinner tonight, made a reservation and all so we’ll be seeing you tomorrow”, he grinned, jin waving at them before intertwining his fingers with the hand that was wrapped around him, leaning his purple head of hearing on namjoon’s shoulder as the two of them walked out, bags slung over namjoon’s free arm.
“yeah, the three of us are leaving, too”, jimin smiled. “hoseok managed to convince yoongi to make a reservation for dinner tonight so we’re gonna go shower and go head to that.”
the redhead grabbed yoongi’s hand while the ravenette grabbed jimin’s hand with his free one so that they had become a three-person human chain, the blue-haired boy waving at the two maknae’s as they walked out of the dance studio, the two youngest waving back and calling ‘have fun’ and ‘enjoy your night’ after them.
jungkook grabbed a hair tie out of the side pocket and shoved his blond hair out of his face, tying it into a messy ponytail, a couple of strands falling into his face as he continued to gather up his discarded towel, spare shirt and empty waterbottles around his bag, his ponytail becoming looser and looser as he did so until it completely came apart and the hair tie fell by his feet.
sighing, taehyung tucked a strand of his wavy brunette hair behind his ear before reaching down to pick the hair tie up, hopping up onto the bench and patting his boyfriend’s shoulder making jungkook look up at him (the only time he ever had to was when taehyung was elevated off of the ground, usually he was looking down).
“let me?”, the honey-eyed boy questioned, eyes hesitant and vulnerable and jungkook really really couldn’t resist, a small smile quirking at the corner of his lips before he turned around.
“you act like you haven’t done my hair before, baby”, he murmured as his smaller boyfriend gently gathered up his long blonde strands into a pile on the top of his head before securing the hair into a messy bun.
the blond turned back around and wrapped his arms around the older’s waist, lifting him up from the bench and tossing him in the air slightly, making the brunette squeal, quickly latching onto the taller once more, giggling his adorable and kind heart out.
“what’s go you so scared, hm, bubs?”, the younger teased, poking his side with his right hand as he continued to hold the smaller up with his left. “you know i’ll always catch you when you land.”
the brunette stared blankly at him for a couple of seconds, unsure of how to respond to the words.
“did you just...quote khat dahlia?”, he questioned, completely unimpressed, whacking the younger in the arm when he nodded. “you’re such a dork, oh my god, go trip over a rock and break your leg in a ditch”, he whined when the blond only laughed in response. “seriously jungkook that was so lame and cliche.”
“you love it, though”, the tattooed boy murmured in response but his boyfriend simply huffed and turned his head to the side, looking away. jungkook chuckled to himself before gently placing his thumb and pointer finger on either of the older’s cheeks, using his hand to coax the brunette to look back at him. “even if you won’t admit it”, he added, nuzzling their noses together in an eskimo kiss.
the smaller only huffed in response, leaning forward to rest his chin on the blond’s shoulder, the younger sighing and picking up both their duffle bags in response, slinging them over his shoulder so he could lock up the dance studio, using the switch out in the hallway to turn off the lights before he began his trek to the parking garage with taehyung in his arms.
“you ready to spend our first valentine’s evening together, cutie?”, he murmured, the older blushing and whispering a tiny ‘yes please’ in response, his small hands (he had longer fingers but smaller palms, so smaller hands) fisting the younger’s black leather jacket.

setting taehyung down in the hallway with a gentle pat on the bum, the blond shoved the keys back into the lock of taehyung’s (their) apartment, locking the door from the inside before he turned on the light, hearing the tell-tale scratching of yeontan’s claws against the hardwood floors, signalling the small dog running to greet them.
“hey, buddy”, jungkook chuckled, leaning down to scratch the black dog behind the ear before standing back up and wrapping an arm around his boyfriend’s waist, pulling him closer and leaving a lingering kiss on his forehead. “why don’t you go shower in our bathroom and i’ll shower in the guest bathroom. take as long as you like, there’s no rush. i have tannie to keep me company while i cook dinner, okay?”
with a small ‘okay’ from the older, the blonde grinned and sent the smaller on his way with a firm smack on the butt, the brunette yelping out a ‘ jeon jungkook! ’ before scurrying to their bathroom, stopping by their room to chuck his nylon tracksuit jacket onto the bed.
the taller chuckled at his adorable baby bear’s antics before he walked into their bedroom to set their duffles in a corner, making a mental note to sort them out the next day since their week was going to be pretty much free. opening up their closet, he pulled out a pair of ripped blue jeans, a black turtleneck, one of his older black and white plaid shirts, a black belt and a black coat for later before he rushed to the guest bathroom to wash off all the sweat and grime his skin had accumulated during practice, expertly dodging the random sculpture of a sunflower taehyung always kept right in the middle of the hallway for some odd reason and refused to move it (jungkook guessed that the older either killed a bug with it accidentally and didn’t want to move it because he felt guilty or it was just one his ‘i like it there and i don’t care that it’s inconvenient’ type of things). after having lived with the brunette for eight months the taller knew what to expect at this point.
yeontan tried to follow him into the bathroom but with a gentle shove and a “you can’t shower with me, bud, but we’ll hang out soon” later, the onyx-eyed boy was left to quickly wash himself up in peace, making sure to be gentle with his hair.
once he was all clean he dried himself off with a towel and pulled the turtleneck on, tucking it into his jeans before tossing the flannel over the top of that, buckling up his belt and ruffling his hair slightly, inspecting his reflection in the mirror, debating on whether or not he should go back to black before ultimately settling on yes, in a couple of weeks.
rushing to the kitchen, the blond found yeontan curled up on his purple doggy bed that was placed across the stove, by the kitchen island. nudging the dog with a sock-covered foot, jungkook set to work on making valentine’s day dinner for his gorgeous baby bear.
speaking of, he heard taehyung sliding into a wall and he grinned, picturing the smaller in his fuzzy brown socks just careening all over the hardwood floors. his suspicions were confirmed when, not even a minute later, the brunette came sliding in, wearing his brown fuzzy socks just like jungkook predicting, plopping down next to yeontan and cooing at the dog and kissing his angry eyebrows.
the blonde chuckled as he quickly placed the lasagna in the oven and turned back to the kitchen counter to start the fettuccine garden salad, his lips quirking up into a small, lopsided grin when his honey-eyed boyfriend sidled up behind him and rested his cheek on the taller’s shoulder, standing up on his tiptoes to be able to do so.
“what’re you making, bunny?”, he hummed softly, a lot less energetic after a full day’s worth of practice.
jungkook smiled and reached back to give the brunette’s butt a couple of pats and jerking his head towards their cutlery drawer. “why don’t you go set the table first, baby bear, and if the food isn’t ready when you’re done then you can come back here and pester me all you want, sound good?”, he posed, feeling the smaller nod, excited, as he pecked the tattooed boy’s cheek before rushing to grab two plates and two sets of utensils as he ran (read: slid) to set the table.
the onyx-eyed boy sighed fondly as he heard the oven go off, signalling that the lasagna was ready. he grabbed a tea towel and pulled the steaming hot pasta (pasta?) out of the oven and walking with it to the dining room where the golden-skinned boy was just setting up the glasses for their drinks. the older pouted once he noticed that the food was ready but he helpfully disappeared into the kitchen only to reappear with the salad in his hands.
“thank you, baby”, the younger murmured quietly, leaning forward to press a small kiss to the tip of the brunette’s nose, watching as his cheeks turned a pretty, cherry blossom pink. it always amazed him how he managed to turn the confident gay kim taehyung into a stuttering, shy mess. he would always tease the smaller about how ‘it must be my charm’.
wandering over to the mini-fridge in the corner of the dining room, he pulled out a bottle of non-alcoholic apple cider since he knew how much the honey-eyed boy (still) hated drinking. heading back to the table, he slid into the chair across from the brunette and intertwined their fingers, popping the bottle open with one hand-smirking triumphantly at the small ‘ oh ’ his boyfriend let out at the display of strength- he poured them a couple of drinks.
“so, i made bacon lasagna and a fettuccine garden salad”, the blond smiled at his adorable baby bear who was listening to him with rapt attention. “i thought it would be good to replenish all the carbs you burned today while still getting some fibre in you, hm?”
“it’s perfect, gukkie”, the older smiled happily at him. “you’re the best, you know that?”
the tattooed boy chuckled. “i try my best, cutie, i try.”

once they had finished dinner and washed the dishes (it was a shared chore, taehyung did the washing and jungkook did the drying) it was time to put the rest of his plan into action. grabbing his black coat and shrugging it on, remembering to button it up this time before he headed into their small coat room to look for his boyfriend’s favourite brown coat.
“tae baby!”, he called, stomping his black puma boots on. “c’mere, let me put your coat on you, we’re going out!”
“we’re going out?”, the smaller breathed out as he rounded the corner, eyes wide and confused, making the blond laugh at his slightly dazed expression.
“yeah, we’re going out”, he murmured, helping the older into his coat and placing his (pretty) doll shoes on the ground by his feet, grabbing a couple of bucket hats (one black one brown) and two face masks. “we’re headed to the park by the han river.”
taehyung smiled giddily at him, putting the hat and face mask that jungkook handed him, blowing a kiss to yeontan as he walked out the door, calling out a ‘see you later, tan-ah’ as he left. the tattooed boy waved at their dog who was staring at him, completely indifferent, from his place by the kitchen counter, the younger murmuring a ‘see you soon, bud’ before closing and locking their apartment door behind him.
he turned around to find his boyfriend already holding his hand out at him expectantly and he complied, giving in easily, so so easily. for him, it was a case of ‘whatever my baby bear wants, my baby bear gets’, which is probably why taehyung is so spoiled but he really couldn’t resist the older’s adorable face, glancing at him every now and then as they continued their trek to their special bench by the han river, stopping only to get a hot chocolate for taehyung and a decaf latte for jungkook.
they finally reached their little bench by the river that was obscured by some tall hedges that allowed them to see everything from the inside out but didn’t allow anyone from the outside to see what was going on inside.
the blond sat down and unbuttoned his coat, patting his chest and sighing contentedly as he felt the familiar weight of taehyung’s torso settle against him as the older settled down, the two of them languidly sipping on their drinks as they watched and listened to flowing river nearby.
“jungkookie?”, the brunette peeped in a small voice, the tattooed boy looking down at him in response. “do you miss home? your family? have you thought of telling them about us?”
taken aback by the sudden flow of questions, the taller paused to mull over his response for a moment before tightening his hold around the older’s waist, pressing a kiss to his hair, his own mask pulled down to his chin.
“yeah, i do miss home and my family sometimes”, he answered softly, fiddling with his boyfriend’s fuzzy grey sweater by his waist. “but you make it much more bearable to be away from them”, he answered honestly, not caring about how ridiculously cliche it sounded. “as for telling them about us, they know i’ve liked you for the longest time. my brother’s been telling me to ‘go for it’ ever since he found out about my crush. come to think of it, we should tell them soon…”, he trailed off, picturing his mother grabbing him by the ear and complaining about not telling them sooner because it’s been a little over a year since they got together.
“yeah... we should”, the brunette mumbled before he quieted down once again, nuzzling into jungkook’s warm, sturdy frame.
the blonde kissed the crown of the honey-eyed boy’s head once more when all his feelings came crashing down on him. in the year that they had been together, his boyfriend had told him that he loves him but he had never said it back, saying that he didn’t want to say things that he didn’t mean, always responding with an ‘i will too someday’. but sat there, on the park bench with his arms full of taehyung, talking about everything and nothing, jungkook knew, he just knew he was in love, that he was in this for life.
“love”, he called out softly, the golden-skinned boy looking up slowly, unsure if jungkook was calling him but the soft smile the younger gave him made him not feel so stupid anymore for responding to the pet name. “happy first valentine’s day together.”
“happy first valentine’s day, gukkie”, he smiled, his mouth forming its infamous boxy grin, though it was softer around the edges this time.
“hey”, the tattooed boy crooned softly, brushing a thumb over the smaller’s eyelid. “i really really love you.”
“bunny…”, the brunette whimpered, sitting up abruptly to turn to look at the taller, unsure if he was hearing things right or if he was imagining things.
“i’m so madly in love with you, kim taehyung”, the younger continued. “and i hope to be able to call you jeon taehyung someday.”
the older raised an eyebrow at that. “what makes you think i’m changing my last name?”
the blond chuckled. “if i remember right, you’re the one who’s always complaining about their family name being ‘too common’ and wanting to change it. i’m giving you the perfect reason to do it now.”
“fair enough”, he smiled giddily, looking down at his empty cup of hot chocolate shyly.
jungkook smiled and slid off the bench to squat in front of the smaller, his back facing him. “come on, i’ll give you a piggyback home.”

helping a sleepy taehyung out of his shoes and clothes and into one of his (jungkook’s) oversized black hoodies was the easy part of the whole ordeal. getting his sleepy baby bear to brush his teeth was a completely different story but with a little coaxing a couple of sweet kisses later, the two of them were brushing their teeth side by side, the older barely managing to keep his eyes open.
once they’d gargled their mouthwash, the blond helped the smaller to bed, wrapping his arms around the brunette’s waist while the older tucked his head under his chin and threw a leg over the younger’s middle.
“i love you, jungkookie”, the golden-skinned boy murmured before sleep pulled him into her clutches.
“i love you too, my precious baby bear”, he whispered, closing his eyes and allowing his tired and aching body to pull him to sleep. somewhere, in the back of his mind, he registered yeontan hopping up onto the bed and settling down curled up by their feet but he was too tired to think about that right now, focused on the soothing warmth that taehyung was, coaxing him softly to sleep with the love of his life nestled in his arms.
