Work Text:
It was as though Franziska had forgotten everything she knew about the dance the moment Maya had laid her head on her shoulder. She knew the basics of the dance - a Von Karma is perfect, and the steps were exceedingly simple. A step forward, a step to the side, a step together. A step backward, a step to the side, a step together. She knew where to put her hands, as she led. Maya’s hand was clasped in her’s and extended, stretched out to touch the flickering, fluorescent lighting, the other ghosting on the Fey girl’s back - too nervous to touch, too prideful not to.
The steps never came to Franziska. She may have been in the leading position, but Maya truly moved them. Maya’s eyes were shut delicately, long lashes shadowing her bones. A gentle, yet sharp smirk toyed on her lips, and Franziska was thankful that they only swayed in place, occasionally turning, for she would've slipped and fallen by now - only a blushing light on this flimsy situation.
She was a fool for this - it stung, but she knew she was. She was a fool for letting Maya Fey into her hotel room, a fool for swimming with her, and a fool for indulging her in this dance. The floor of the pool was wet, sticky, and lubricous, and Maya had taken them on a particularly sharp turn and had nearly thrust them both into the murky water.
Maya’s bikini was in shades of pearl purple and pastel pink, and frilled and bunched around the hems. It tickled Franziska’s arms, and everything about it, everything about her was so damned cute - it was frustrating, and foolish. Franziska’s own swimsuit was simple, black, with thick straps over the shoulders. They mixed like sky and starlight.
It was a foolish endeavor, all the way. They were both soaked in over - chlorinated water, shaking from the broken air conditioning, it was likely at least two in the morning, and they were slow dancing at the slippery poolside.
And, yet, Franziska never stopped swaying.
