Notes:

TW: Suicide

Ugh, I did it again.
I need to update my main fic yet I keep on making new fics.
Well, can't be helped.
This is like darker version of my other fanfic, Undead Hero: Izanami

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“Take a swan dive and hope for a quirk in the next life”

“It’s not bad to dream but also have to consider what is realistic”

After being left on top of a building, Izuku has been pandering those two sentences in his head over and over again.

All this time, he has been dreaming and carrying a false hope.

Tears are falling from his eyes. How ridiculous. Of course, All Might won’t encourage him to be a hero. Who is he fooling? Heroes have the highest casualty rates of any profession. People with strong, “heroic” quirks are dying yet him, a quirkless nobody, how dare for him to stand in the stage as them.

He’d become a liability. What a joke. Omega and quirkless? Even he wants to laugh loudly now. How come he has been living 14 years with that stupid notion?

Izuku admonishing himself in his head as he takes a glace at the ground below.

“Take a swan dive, huh….” His lips are quirked upwards, revealing a pained smile.

“Not even All Might believe in you”

“Maybe Kacchan is right…” he mumbles.

He then opens his notebook and begins writing messages. One for police to conduct an investigation for quirk discrimination in his school, one for his mother saying how terrible he felt and how he wishes that he was born with quirk so she will be happier, one for All Might saying that he is a hypocrite and one for Kacchan.

Izuku suddenly stops writing, feeling guilty for writing letters for the police and All Might. If media acquires it, it will for sure destroy All Might’s and Aldera’s reputation. His classmates and teachers may not be able to find employment since despite the attitude towards quirkless people, nobody blatantly discriminate them on public since there is a strict law protecting them.

But Izuku shrugs, this will be his contribution for society.

He won’t let ay quirkless person be discriminated again in the future and people like Kacchan, is not meant to be hero. Maybe with his death, a new era will begin.

Izuku finishes his letters as he carefully puts it near his lined-up shoes. He takes a deep breath as he tries to savour his last minutes in the living world.

“God, if you do exist, please make me reborn with a good quirk” he prays.

“Oops, I almost forgot” he quickly types some messages on his phone and he tabs send.

To: Kacchan

You know this is your fault. I hope you’ll reflect hard on your behaviour, if you miraculously get accepted into UA. Who am I kidding? You will get in. This world is rotten to the core.  But deep inside, you know that you are a villain. At least for me. Farewell, Bakugou. (now)

To: Mother

I love you and I’m sorry but it’s too painful (now)

The response is quick. Even Kacchan tries to call him. Izuku just sends an indifference smirk as he turns off his smartphone.

He then stands on the edge of the railings and he lets himself go.

As he falls, suddenly he sees three people are falling next to him.

Which is impossible, there was nobody there.

As he looks at them intensely, he realises that these are quirkless teenagers who committed suicide in this year.

Three of them are smiling at him with an eerie reflection.

“How vexing… How sad…”

“You must feel so lonely…I know how that feels”

“Let’s fall together and we will be together forever….”

Izuku feels chills throughout his body. These people are ghost!

“Seems like I can’t even die completely…” he mutters a second before his body hits the ground hard.

Three of the spirits look at him with sad eyes.

Izuku feels pain throughout his body. His eyesight begins to fail him, same as his hearing but he can hear people’s screaming around him. At the side of his sight, he can barely see a spiky blonde looking at him in disbelief.

“Ka..cchan…?” he says before he lets out his last breath.

The three spirits move closer to his body.

“This is sad….”

“Another victim of this cruel world…”

“Maybe we can help him….”

Suddenly they fuse into one orb and enters his body.

Shortly, the ambulance came and checked his vital.

The paramedic shakes his head and people around him begin sobbing. Some offers a silent prayer for his repose as they carefully put his corpse on a bed.

“This is most unusual. His body is still intact” they say.

Besides some scars, scratches and blood, Izuku’s corpse is still intact. He even looks as if he is still sleeping.

Soon, police begin to investigate the crime scene and they find the letters that was written by Izuku. Needless to say, Aldera, Katsuki and Izuku’s bullies may face charges.

“This is a tragedy” Eraserhead just arrives at the scene and he is observing the site where Izuku fell.

“Glad to see you, Eraserhead. Too bad we have to meet in such a condition” Detective Tsukauchi greets him. His eyes are full with sadness.

“Midoriya Izuku, 14 years old, quirkless. He left three suicide notes. One for the police, one for his mother and one for someone named Bakugou Katsuki” he explains.

Eraserhead felt a pain in his chest when he heard that Izuku was quirkless. The discrimination of quirkless is rampant in Japan despite the anti-discrimination law. He knows how terrible some people are as he himself was bullied for having a villainous quirk. He can’t imagine how terrible Izuku life was as most quirkless in this generation committed suicide before they even reach 18. It makes his blood boil.

“Have you read the notes?” he asks.

“Not yet, but I figure we may expose the truth on how disgusting some people are” he says.

“Good. People need to be held accountable. It has been too long that this country is turning a blind eye on quirkless population” he grits his teeth.

Tsukauchi agrees at his statement. They make a silent vow that day to prosecute his bullies and bring everyone to justice.

Morgue, Musutafu Municipal Hospital

Two nurses are currently carrying Izuku’s corpse to the morgue.

“Such a tragedy”

“I agree. How many times this year? 6th?”

“Yeah, I still can’t believe how cruel some teenagers are to the point of driven him to suicide”

“Even some adults will encourage that behaviour. I know, because I heard the family of the last victim told me that their teacher even participates in bullying”

“How awful…”

As they arrive, they opened the body bag with Izuku’s corpse that has been cleaned earlier.

Both of the then touch his arms to check the vital for the last time when they feel something weird.

“Wait, he is warm”

“Are you sure? Maybe the mortician bathed him in hot water”

“No! I’m serious. Check his pupils. Even his complexion looks better”

“Holy… he is alive…”
