“Lost.” Lan Wangji muttered as his ears began heating up again. Pets were unnecessary. They were symbols of wealth, but also pleasure and excess. He was perfectly content to stay away from people who were bought exclusively to be dressed up and debauched to enhance another person’s status, no matter how socially acceptable it was deemed. Neither his uncle nor brother had a pet, and he doubted they would pressure him into having one. If the most he ever saw of what pets did was glimpses of the fancy clothing they wore, he would be happy.
