When Shouta Aizawa woke up this morning he had a sinking feeling in his chest, a feeling he only ever had when something bad was going to happen late on in the day.
Throughout all his classes, he made sure to be alert and aware of everything that was going on around him and his students, he couldn’t risk another incident like at the training camp.
What he didn’t expect, however, was for the league of villains to show up at the gates of UA with a screaming and crying Toga in their arms.
“NO! Don’t do this, please!” Toga was gripping the arm of Dabi’s jacket, “T, Tomu, please, I can’t lose you.”
Ignoring her cries, Dabi looked Nezu in the eyes. “I know we're villains, but Toga is just a teenager, she’s just a kid. We’ve done what we can to protect her up to this point, but there’s another villain who is targeting us and we can’t risk her getting hurt.”
“NO, you’re going to die if you leave, please don’t!”
“She was basically forced to become a villain due to her quirk, it wasn’t her fault, so please keep her safe. UA is the only place where she will be safe from this villain. We’re old enough to know what were doing, but Toga just wanted a family, she just wanted to be accepted.” Shigaraki continued.
Nezu nodded and looked at the leader dead in the eyes. “We’ll protect her, don’t worry. I was planning on setting up a villain reform course for people such as Toga here at UA anyways.”
“Thank you.”
“Toga, I need you to look at me, okay?” Dabi whispered to her and she took her head off his chest to look at him. “You’re going to be safe here, okay? You’re going to make lots of new friends and you’re going to finally be accepted for who you are by more than just us. You’re going to be the best person you can be, okay?”
“I don’t want to make new friends, I don’t want to be accepted! Not if you aren’t here to see it. You can’t face this villain alone, you’ll die, and I’ll be left without a family again. You’re leaving me like they did.”
“No, Himiko, were not leaving you. We’ll see each other again, and we'll always be with you even if its just in your heart.” Shigaraki replied to her comment. It was painful for everyone at UA to see the interaction between the league. You could clearly see the love that the 3 had for each other and even though the rest of the league were further behind and were staying out of the conversation, the looks on their faces showed it was difficult to see Toga the way she was.
Dabi looked behind him and nodded to Kurogiri who opened a warp gate next to them which Dabi reached his hands into and pulled out a few blood bags filled with some sort of red liquid. Blood possibly?
“I know you already have a small collection of it for when you miss us, but I don’t know how long this is going to take. Don’t drink it all at once, yeah?”
Toga grabbed the bags and stared at them. “You’re planning on dying. You know you’re going to die. You’re willingly leaving me.” She detached herself from Dabi and sat on the ground still staring at the bags. “Please don’t leave me.” She sounded so broken.
“How about we compromise? If we find that were about to die and we have a chance to leave, we will. We will try our best to leave before that happens, okay?”
“Promise me you will come back to me, and then I will let you leave.”
“We promise.” The both of them replied in sync.
“We're not just going to leave our little sister in the dust, are we?” Shigaraki added.
Toga gave a small laugh. “Okay. Okay, I love you both so much.”
“We love you too.”
“It might be a good idea to explain to them what’s going on. You can talk about who me and Tomu are as well.”
She nodded and the league slowly made their way through another warp gate created by Kurogiri. Once they had left, Toga took out her phone and called someone, but she couldn’t get a word out before she started crying again. Not even 5 minutes later, Hawks appeared.
“Hawks? What are you doing here?” Tokoyami asked. Being Hawks’ intern, he became quite close to the hero.
The number 2 hero ignored him and pulled Toga into his arms. No one could hear what was being said, but he soon kissed the top of her head and flew away while calling for backup.
Toga stood up holding the blood bags and turned to face everyone. “I suppose you want an explanation, right?”
Soon Aizawa found himself in UA’s conference room with Present Mic, Midnight, All Might, Nezu, and Toga. His class also happened to be present as they refused to leave.
“God, where should I even start?”
Everyone remained silent to give the young girl time to think.
“I know, lets start with Touya Todoroki, Endeavor’s eldest son. It makes sense to start with him as his brother is present. As I’m sure most of you are aware, Enji Todoroki isn’t a good person. He’s a rude hero whose fights always result in a lot of city damage, but he’s a much worse father. He abused Touya for years because of the so called ‘training’, it wasn’t training, it was more like beating Touya until he couldn’t move.”
“What does my dead brother have to do with the league?”
“You’ll see. Anyways, Touya had a quirk that wasn’t suited for his body, it burned him whenever he used it and it was much stronger than Endeavor’s quirk. One day in what was deemed a freak training accident, Endeavor’s and his son’s quirks mixed resulting in what was essentially a death trap and afterwards, Touya was nowhere to be found so of course he was dead, right? Wrong. Don’t you find it odd that a villain appeared a few years later who hates Endeavor with a burning passion, has a fire quirk, and happens to know all about the Todoroki family?”
“Touya is Dabi? He’s alive?”
Toga nodded.
“Next is a story about a young child named Tenko Shimura, I’m sure that name rings a bell, All Might? Tenko’s father was also abusive and it was all because Tenko wanted to become a hero. The day his quirk appeared was not a nice one. He accidentally murdered his family, not knowingly, of course. He was scared, confused, but the heroes didn’t help him. They didn’t ask what was wrong, they didn’t do anything. The civilians also just ignored him as the young 5-year-old was walking down the street crying. Do you want to know who did help him, though?” she looked around the room to gauge people’s reactions. “All for one. He took Tenko in as his own son. I mean, All for one wasn’t exactly the best person, but at least it resulted in a family of sorts, at least he didn’t have to die on the streets. That’s how Tenko Shimura became Tomura Shigaraki.”
All Might looked sick to the stomach and left the room for a breather.
“The final story is about a young girl who only ever wanted love. She always acted in the way her parents wanted her to, a nice pretty little girl who never did anything wrong and was obedient. One day, the young girls urge took over and she drank the blood of a little bird. This made the girl so happy, she needed blood and she finally got it, but her parents hated it. They hated her for it, so she pushed the urge aside once more to try to make her family love her again. She was in middle school when she fell for a handsome boy in her class and she drank his blood. She loved him and drinking the blood of someone she loves is the best for her. It helps her when she misses the person, it helps her feel closer to the person, its her way of showing love. Nobody else thought that way. Apparently needing blood is a villainous thing, needing blood to survive is disgusting. She was outcasted and so she ran away, and she found a new family. One who doesn’t hate her for her quirk. One filled with people who were also outcasted from society for their own quirks, or they were hurt by hero society in other ways such as abuse. They cared for each other, protected each other. They didn’t care when she drank their blood, in fact, they willingly gave it. They understood.” She started crying, “And now they’re gone again.”
Some students were crying, others looked like they were on the verge of crying. Even Bakugou was quiet as he contemplated what Toga was saying and how Midoriya could have very easily gone down the same route Toga did. The teachers didn’t know what to do as the young girl who was just taken away form her family sat in front of them crying.
“and what about Hawks?” Nezu asked her.
“Hawks was sent by the hero commission to infiltrate the league and act as a double agent, although that backfired on them. Hawks is like us. He was mistreated by hero society and he was forced to put on a front all the time. They took away his name, his family, his friends, everything. They made Hawks into a machine that they could use to do whatever they wanted and that means the hero Hawks that you all know is just a front the commission made. The real Hawks has many more bird traits. He stress grips things, he chirps, he loves when we preen his wings, he eats raw meat, so we always have some ready for whenever he comes over. He also loves playing video games and he loves doing tricks when flying in the air. He does my hair for me when Twice does my make up. I paint his talons whenever he comes over.”
Toga drank some of the blood from the blood bag before continuing, “I called him because he’s the only one who can stop Dabi from doing anything dangerous so if anyone is going to make sure my family survives, its him.”
“Okay, well Toga, it seems he was calling for backup when he was leaving so I’m sure they will live. In the meantime, we will get you settled into the dorms and starting tomorrow, you will be joining class 1-A in their course. As this is a villain reform program, you will be expected to wear quirk suppressing bracelets while not in classes. I hope that you can work with us in this situation.” Nezu explained to her before pulling the quirk suppressing bracelets out from the drawer.
“I’ll work with you because its was Dabi and Tomu wanted me to do, and ill wear the bracelets under the condition that im allowed to keep my blood supply. Because my quirk requires me to ingest blood, I need it to survive and drinking the blood of people I care about helps me when I can’t be near them.”
“Of course, I would expect no less. We can even get a fridge for your dorm dedicated to your blood bags so that stay fresh, if you would like.”
Toga nodded.
“Fabulous, in which case, Aizawa will escort you to your new dorm. Please make yourself at home. You are free to roam the grounds however we do ask that for the first few weeks of the program you have a teacher with you so as to not worry the rest of our students.”
Toga nodded once again and then she and Aizawa left for the dorms.
“Nezu, are you sure it is wise to have a villain on the grounds? How do we know that this isn’t a trick to get more information to take us down?” All Might asked after they had left.
“I assure you, All Might, Toga is not a threat to us anymore, nor is the rest of the league who I wish to also join the program after their return.”
As the students and the teachers left, Nezu looked at the security camera with Toga on it and smiled already with a cup of tea in his hand.
