Summary
The car engine purred at them as they twisted across the city. A fluorescent spill of blue light greeted them at their destination, and Shi Qingxuan watched He Xuan pull out his gun and check that the safety was off. Once he was satisfied, it went back into the holster at his side.
A hand reached out. Shi Qingxuan took it. For a moment, time froze itself around them with a rush of wind, and He Xuan’s eyes bored into him, through him. “When tonight is over,” he said, “I’m gonna take you somewhere nice. We can talk this out for real.”
Shi Qingxuan smiled, rolling his head to the side and trying to melt the tension. “Whatever you want, He-xiong. I’ll let you pull the trigger this time, and you can take all the earnings.”
“We split fifty/fifty like always.”
“What a gentleman.”
