Mei sat infront of her canvas with an annoyed expression on her face. her paint brush was pressed against the canvas without any paint as she looked at the paint palette she had in hand. her eyes scanned through each color but nothing came to her mind. she knew she had hit some kind of art block. Mei hadn't hit an art block in years despite not leaving the Kamome Academy school grounds.
obviously she was annoyed at this.
one of the only times she was at peace, she didnt know what to paint or even simply sketch. without noticing, she snapped her paint brush in half, part of it hitting the ground with a small tap. "ah, that was the second one this week." Mei got up with a small sigh placing the broken paint brush in a small cup filled with other parts of broken brushes.
she slowly picked up a notebook, paint pallete, and pencil set she kept on a desk near a window.
The moon shone light rays of light through the glass, revealing small specks of dust visible as they floated down.
the door made a small eerie creak as Mei exited and walked down the small staircase outside of the art room. "mm." a small noise escaped her mouth as she walked the empty halls.
classes had ended earlier that day, all that roamed the halls now were the many supernaturals and cryptids of the school.
a human-like figure appeared and then quickly dissapeared from the corner of her vision. of course, she thought nothing of it. Mei reached the abandoned library of the school. no students ever went there anymore from what she knew, so the library was usually filled with dust and cobwebs.
she remebered from the back of her mind that a chair was sat near a window within the library thus she decided to make her way over. dust and cobwebs were easily avoided by Mei, afterall her art room was usually dusty anyways. so she had gotten used to it.
however, Mei' plans were interrupted as she noticed another figure sitting in the chair. thus she quickly hid behind a bookshelf to observe the person.
they definitely looked familiar, however she couldn't quite remeber how or who they were. they were also for sure a human, they had no cryptid like features nor were they translucent.
what would a human be doing at the school so late though? Mei was obviously confused. before she had noticed, she felt a tap on her shoulder. thus she darted around and to her suprise, it was the person she was just examining.
"hello, i noticed you were staring at me from behind this bookcase. is there anything you need from me?" the girl asked politely with a deadpan expression. rays of moonlight highlighted the girl's face, expressing most of her features with a blue tint.
Mei noticed this. he noticed everything, from how the girl's hair hit the back of her neck instead of shoulder length like most other female students, how the gem on her uniform shone in different ways when ever the dusty wind blew, and even how her eyes matched the color of a newly found emerald. "ah no uh, sorry but are you human? and if so, why are you here so late?" Mei panicked as she noticed that she was staring for too long.
"yes i am, i stay at the school late because i dont need to go home until early in the morning." the girl stated, her expression didnt change "anyways, im Sakura Nanamine, you might you be?"
"ah, im Shijima Mei." Mei spoke blankly as a repsonse, of course giving your full name to a stranger was never a good idea but, of course they still did. "thats a lovely name. you're mystery number four, am i correct?" Sakura responded.
Mei's heart skipped a beat at the simple compliment, it was mindless of her to be delighted over a simple compliment.
"oh thank you! and yes you're correct." Mei couldn't resist a small smile at this point.
Mei knew that she already favored he girl despite having just met her. she didnt want to let herself do anything rash though, she didnt want to accept her feelings.
two other supernaturals had fallen for humans and have ended horribly, Mei didnt want this. she didnt want someone to have to go through anything like what other supernaturals' love intrests had gone through. thus, an idea sparked. "hey can i draw you? its fine if not of course, i know some people cant sit still for that long-" Mei began her question. "Oh, you may." Sakura responded.
Mei smiled more "Alright, thank you. can you go sit over there perhaps." she pointed at the chair the girl had been previously sitted in.
Sakura walked over to the chair and sat herself down, crossing her legs in a proper manner. "is this good?" Mei's face was ever slightly more pink then before "yup!" she pulled out her notebook and pencils, setting her plaint palette to the side.
the moonlight hit the girl just right, it made her sparkle in a way that seemed holy, like if you looked at her, you couldn't break that gaze. her eyes were the most entracing. Mei shook her thoughts from her head and began sketching every detail of the girl, making sure she could capture the essence.
the pencil traced the paper leaving every stroke neatly placed, Mei's hand moved in all different directions to make sure the lead didnt smudge with a touch. an hour or so passed when Mei finished the final sketch. "Alright, that should be enough, i might have to come back tomorrow to get the colors right but if its annoying i won't."
"no, its fine, i dont want to leave your art unfinished." Sakura gave a small nod. Mei fiddled with the pencil she had in her hand "ah also thank you." Mei spoke not making eye contact. "you're welcome, also you seem to be acting shy, are you alright?" Sakura asked with a concerned voice despite her monotone expression.
"oh its uh-" Mei stuttered "nothing" Sakura curved her mouth into a small smile only for it to dissapear in a second "theres something, you should tell me." Sakura spoke lifting the girl' head up with her hand. Mei sighed, she had wanted to do this the entire time she was drawing Sakura however, she didnt let herself. She quickly went through the pros and cons of the action in her head but soon enough decided to just go ahead.
"well its-" Mei very quickly put her hand on the side of Sakura's face, her pale skin was soft. As soon as that movement was done, Mei brought her face up to Sakuras and kissed her. it was short and sweet. Sakura backed away a bit "Ah, so that was what was wrong." Sakura's face was cotton candy pink now. Mei panicked "Anyways ill see you tomorrow!" she ran away through the library doors and back to her art room. Sakura was left standing there in awe as the sun rose from the window and students filled the former empty halls.
