There was always something different when it came to Josuke Hgashikata. Sure, he had a stand, and those are crazy enough as is. And yeah, his hair was definitely not normal but even then, people didn’t mind, it was quite cool.
No, Josuke was different in a whole other regard.
Hugs.
That Josuke Higashikata was a curious one. Whenever he came upon something heavy, he would always ask for help if lifting was needed. No, that wasn’t what was strange. Is it because he had a stand? Well, he wouldn’t want to expose himself as a stand user, so not using his stand wasn’t weird. What was unusual was the fact that whenever he went to hug someone, it truly felt like a bear was hugging them.
Sure, no one had been hugged by a bear, but Josuke’s hugs are what they would imagine it would feel like.
If Josuke had this strength while hugging, how come he couldn’t lift anything heavy up?
Maybe he used his stand when hugging?
But other stand users couldn’t see Crazy Diamond whenever he went to hug them.
So, what was going on? What was with Josuke Higashikata?
“Josuke?” Koichi has been walking with his friends and has a very prominent question on his mind.
“Yeah? What do you need?”
“What’s up with your hugs?”
“My hugs?”
“Oh yeah! I’ve been wondering about that too!” Okuyasu, along with the other two walking home from school, has also been curious about Josuke’s hugs. It was like this big mystery throughout the school. Everyone wanted to know what was going on with these hugs.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that you almost squish everyone anytime you hug someone, and you’re even able to lift up others in your hugs that are like... a lot heavier than you.” Koichi explains.
“Oh, that.” Josuke ponders for a moment. “I don’t know. It’s just always been a thing.”
“Do you use Crazy Diamond for it?” Okuyasu pipes up.
“No, he’s not needed when it comes to hugs. Though, he certainly does like them.”
“Huh.” Koichi says.
The three of them walk in a bit of silence before Koichi gets an idea.
“Have you done it on Jotaro-san yet?”
“Yes! Have you done it to him yet?” Okuyasu repeats.
“What- no! He’d kill me if I wear to do that.”
“Aw c’mon! You don’t know that.”
“Yeah! You should totally try it on him.” Koichi encourages.
“I don’t know man. I couldn’t do that to him.”
“But you should.”
Josuke hesitates.
“Yeah! Do it!”
Josuke sighs. “Fine, I'll do it the next opportunity I get. But I won’t do it out of nowhere, deal?”
“Deal!” Koichi and Okuyasu exclaim at the same time.
3 days roll by with nothing new going on. Jotaro, however, has asked the boys to come help him with some stand research. The meet up with him at the Morioh docks.
“So, what do you need us for, Jotaro-san?”
“The SPWF has reports of a stand user that uses water to move around, and while they haven’t necessarily been causing any trouble, they’ve been doing small little things that are starting to really build up. I’ve caught glimpses of them but haven’t been able to catch them at all.”
“You want us to keep a look out?” Koichi asks.
“Yeah.”
The four of them didn’t really talk much, focusing on finding this water stand user. That is, until Josuke noticed a crate rattling.
Trying not to let this moment go, Josuke summons CD to notify everyone that he got something.
“Do you think they’re in there?” Koichi whispers.
“It’s a possibility. Though, if we try to break open the crate it’ll probably escape.” Jotaro responds.
“What if we lift it?” Okuyasu puts out.
“Yeah, that could work. Someone lifts the crate while someone else prepares to grab whatever’s underneath.” Josuke syas.
“It’s the only idea we have right now, so it’ll have to do.” Jotaro replies.
Josuke brings out Crazy Diamond again, but before he could do anything, Koichi speaks up. “Why don’t use your hug strength, Josuke?”
“I-” Josuke pauses for a brief moment before smiling. They’ll get another opportunity to catch this stand user. “Yeah, good idea!”
“Sorry, his what ?” Jotaro asks with a perplexed look on his face.
“He probably meant “huge” strength, right?” He murmurs under his breath.
“Bear hug bear hug bear hug bear hug!”
“Bear hug bear hug bear hug bear hug!”
Koichi and Okuyasu chant.
“Bear hug!” Josuke yells while grabbing his nephew in a tight hug and lifting him off the ground.
At this moment, the three of them could see Jotaro’s skin get slightly paler s Jotaro hasn’t been lifted in such a long time.
Once Josuke puts him back down, Jotaro just stands there, shocked.
“ What ?”
The three teens break out in laughter. Jotaro sighs. It’s not like he minded . It reminds him a lot of Holly. Josuke reminds him a lot of Holly. He... actually hasn’t been hugged in a while, especially not like that.
He smiles just a small bit and puts away the papers on the stand user. They’ll get another chance to catch them later.
Unbeknownst to him, however, the teens saw his smile and went into a small shock. Shortly after, however, they kept laughing.
“Yare Yare you three c’mon we’re going. It’s getting dark anyways, we’ll catch the user later.”
And with that, the young stand users’ mission was complete.
