Chapter Text
Simmering hazel eyes lock with peircing red orbs in the distance. As the two colours clash to make a sickly yet addictive wave of passion and lust, a chilling breeze nips at his face, blowing golden tufts of hair before narrowed eyes.
"You actually came."
Red eyes glint in amusement, as the assassin leans against the wall, his slim yet sturdy frame looking as elegant as always propped up.
"Nothing could keep me away."
The prince scoffs, hands crossing tightly over his chest. Those sharp eyes locked on him made that familiar sick feeling blossom in his chest.
"We can't do this." The prince finally breaks the tense silence, avoiding eye contact. He stares at the ground, despising how thick the air had suddenly become.
A warm hand reaches up and curls around his chin, tilting the princes head so their eyes locked again.
"We can."
"We shouldn't."
The assassin doesn't move away. "Why not?"
The prince can list a variety of reasons: He is a prince, destined to be eternally married with his betrothed, it would be frowned upon if this affair is ever sought out and exposed, and-
"I know you want to be with me, too. You never truly loved your fiancee." It isn't a question, it's a statement from knowing lips. An arranged marriage isn't the best way of finding love. "You love me."
Emerald eyes widen a fraction, and the air surrounding the two becomes denser. Intense ruby irises gaze between dark bangs, with such passion it makes the prince's knees weak.
"I do." He whispers, ever so softly, as if he's afraid of the consequences.
Their faces are inches apart, gentle breaths tickling the others face-
Something soft collides with Tomura's face, and he instinctively snaps the book closed. His crimson eyes dart to the cushion in his lap, and then to the girl standing in his doorway. His sister grins, leaning against the doorway with an amused glint to her eye.
"What the fuck are you-" the teenager scrambles to get off his bed and attack the blonde, before her eyes widen in panic and she waves her arms around infront of her in alarm.
"Woah, woah! We need to help 'Giri with dinner! Don't kill me, jeez!"
Tomura halts, looming over Himiko with a deadly, yet half-hearted glare. His anger soon melts away, and his shoulders sag and he groans.
"Do it yourself." Tomura complains, about to turn around and slam the door in Himiko's face before Magne slinks into view, placing a hand on the blondes shoulder. She flashes Tomura a knowing smile, one he simply can't resist.
"C'mon Tomura, help us out." Magne smiles softly, stepping back, and motioning to the two, to go downstairs and help their adoptive father.
After a moment of reluctance, Tomura follows his sisters into the kitchen, to help Kurogiri with dinner. They make roast chicken successfully, Toga only burning herself on the stove a maximum of three times, and Tomura almost murdering her a total of four! Magne did her best to keep them in check, and with the help of Kurogiri, they all managed to make a meal without any casualties.
Later, Chisaki walks in, greeting Magne with a curt nod of the head. He spots Tomura lingering on the stairs, and both struggle to suppress the tilt of their lips upwards.
"Hey, Shigaraki." Chisaki greets, and Tomura smiles at him, bumping their fists together slightly as they join the rest of the family at the dinner table.
Tomura is what's known as a loner. He has rarely any friends, and is used to being invisible. He doesn't mind it, infact he strives in it. Tomura hates crowds, and loud bustling groups of people, spitting out lies and gossip. He prefers being in his own social bubble, consisting of his neighbors, Chisaki Kai, and his best friends, Jin and spinner.
It's not a surprise that Tomura only has a handful of friends. He doesn't know how to convey his emotions properly, it always comes out in a fit of overwhelming power, scaring off the person he had shown his affection to.
So instead, the teen settles on expressing his emotions in a more, private and safe, way.
Writing letters.
Of course, writing letters is only for special occasions. When his emotions are so intense and powerful, he doesn't physically know how to contain them.
Those feelings are usually that of romance, much to his distaste.
There is a total of four letters, with addresses and all. Don't get the wrong idea though, Tomura will never send them out, it's all too humiliating. (There's also the fact that Tomura believes nobody would ever love him back, after all, his birth father was the cause of so many bruises in claims of false love, until the man gave up on the false exclamations of affection, and instead made it obvious how unloveable the child is).
Besides, he doesn't care for relationships much anyways.
____
Tomura walks along side his family, cursing every few minutes under his breathe as his younger sister keeps elbowing him. She does it just to piss him off, and it works.
"Toga, I swear to fucking god!" He snaps, snarling at the snickering blonde beside him. Magne and Kurogiri frown at the sudden burst of anger and violence, glancing around incase it has caused any unwanted attention. Being aggressive in an airport full of security guards isn't the wisest.
While Tomura is a very verbally abrasive person, both Kurogiri and Magne notice that he seems a bit more on edge than usual. Toga seemingly notices too, as she takes a hesitant step to the side, in favour of not getting smacked across the back of the head.
The family come to a stop at their designated area, all noting the way Tomura seems to tense more. The sound of suitcase wheels scraping against the floor only makes Tomura grit his teeth as Magne moves to stand infront of them all, a sad smile on her face.
Toga opens her mouth to speak, but Kurgiri butts in.
"I assume you will want some magazines to read on the plane." He says, gently turning Himiko around, steering her away. Magne looks at him with a thankful nod, and Kurogiri leads away a whining Toga, as the oldest sister's gaze lands back on Tomura.
The two are settled into an uncomfortable silence, the only sounds are the white noise of crying children and parting families in the distance. Tomura huffs, shoving his hands into his pockets with a child-like pout.
"Did you really have to pick the furthest college?" He asks, glaring daggers at her. It doesn't seem to affect Magne however, as she just sighs with a small smile. A large hand lands on the slim teens shoulders, and his shoulders tense more at the strange touch.
"It's a good college, Tomu. I'm not doing it to purposefully be far, but I think it could be a good thing! You need to learn how to become more independent, make some friends!"
Tomura shakes his head, scoffing at her. "No, definitely not."
Magne just sighs, and they're plummeted in silence once again. "You need to try, Tomura. I won't be around forever, you know?" The look of pure sadness and anger on Tomura's face makes the woman immediately regret her choice of words, and she quickly pulls him into a comforting embrace. Tomura is stiff under her hold, but eventually sighs, the tension draining from his body, painfully slow.
"I don't want you to go." Magne hears Tomura mumble, muffled against her shoulder. She smiles, petting his fluffy hair slightly.
"I'll miss you too, kiddo." She chuckles, spotting the return of the rest of their strange family, and as if he sensed them, the teenager pulls away from her hug, hands firmly planted in his pockets again. Toga skips ahead of Kurogiri, thrusting rolled up magazines into Magnes chest.
"I know they're boring, but it's all they had!" Toga frowns. Magne thanks her, grabbing onto the magazine, but Toga refuses to let go. The two sisters eyes meet, and Tomura flinches back in surprise as Toga immediately starts bawling.
"My dear..." Sighs Magne, and Himiko throws her arms around her, while Kurogiri and Tomura watch the exchange from afar.
"You need to text us every day! Don't forget me!" Toga sobs, and while Tomura can't help but want to roll his eyes at her dramatics, he also feels bad for how upset his sister is feeling, so he decides to keep his sour comments to himself. Just this once, though. "Come now, Himiko. Magne will miss her flight, if we don't let her go." Kurogiri reminds, and Toga sniffles very loudly, wiping at her blotchy eyes and running mascara, as she reluctantly pulls away and stands next to Kurogiri, who wraps a comforting arm around her shoulders, in a parental way of affection.
"I love you all, don't miss me too much!"
"I already am, though!" Toga whines, as Magne giggles slightly, and turns, ready to leave.
They all watch her go, tugging along her massive suitcase along with her, until she eventually disappears into the crowd. The trio stand there a moment, staring at the spot she once stood longingly, mentally hoping she would turn around and just give up on college. Although Magne would never do that.
Toga sniffles again, and Tomuras eyes flicker to her.
"Can we get a puppy now?"
Tomura can't help the amusement growing on his face, as he shakes his head gently.
"No, but nice try." Kurogiri says, patting the girls head slightly, before they turn to leave the crowded airport.
_______
"Oh my god, just hurry the fuck up, already!" Tomura yells, walking out of the house and onto the yard, where he can see Kurogiri watching him, a proud smile on his face, although it is always hard to tell what expression the man is sporting. Tomura trudges down the steps, walking towards his father, ignoring the calls from his sister from behing him.
"I am coming, just- okay, I'm ready!" Himiko grins, running out of the house, and skipping to Shigaraki's side.
"A new year at school, are you excited to be going back?" Kurogiri asks, eying the two with a fond look.
"No."
"Definetly! I can't wait to see Ochako-Kun and Izuku-kun again!"
Both siblings turn to look at eachother, Tomura glaring and Himiko grinning. Her positivity always makes him feel sick to the stomach, how can one person smile so damn much?
"I'm proud of the both of you, you never cease to amaze me."
Toga smiles bashfully, practically glowing at the praise, while Tomura just hangs his head with a frown. There really is no reason for Kurogiri to be proud of him after all, yet he says nothing.
"Get going, don't want to be late."
That makes Tomura look up, huffing, and eying the car behind his Father. "Do I really have to drive...?" Kurogiri just gives him a steady nod, saying something about it being a useful skill to have for the future. Tomura isn't looking forward to it, he will probably end up running someone over, just his luck. "Fine, fuck it."
Tomura walks around Kurogiri and pries open the car door, turning to let Toga get in. That's when he notices the bright pink helmet, currently getting strapped to her head. He just glares at her, and she grins.
"Safety first!"
______
Tomura hates school. The hallways are too long, too crowded. The students are too loud and aggravating. It makes him itch, the craving to just claw up at his scarred skin on his neck so overwhelming, he sometimes just can't resist.
Then only thing that eases his anxiety is having one of his friends around.
Unfortunately, he is currently walking down the halls by himself, anxiously picking at his skin with his eyes trained on the ground. He doesn't dare to look up, to see those judging gazes focused on him, picking out his every flaw, and multiplying it and making it the whole focus of him. He hates when that happens. That's how he ends up with nicknames like fucking 'crusty' and 'anti-chapstick'.
It's always the same assholes who give him those nicknames too. The pretty, popular, pricks who don't have a reason to complain.
It's just his luck that he turns the corner and almost crashes face first into one.
Tomura flinches back from the boy, eyes darting up, awaiting a sharp pain in his cheek. When it obviously doesn't come, he releases a breathe, but his shoulders stay tense as his eyes land on the boy infront of him.
"Ah, Keigo." He says plainly, yet his eyes show how much he loathes the boy infront of him. Keigo groans, brushing off his clothes before looking Tomura up and down, in a manner that makes the smaller boy want to shrink back in a hole and die.
"Great, my first day back is already off to a terrible start. This must be a sign I'm cursed or something." He sighs, before those sharp eyes flicker across Tomura's face, before an expression mixed with disgust and amusement flashes across his face. "Well, maybe some are more cursed than others. Have you ever heard of moisturizing, freak?"
Tomura doesn't even batt an eyelid at the hurtful comment, instead he just glares back at Keigo, wanting nothing more than to watch the boy infront of him magically turn to dust. His thoughts are quickly derailed, as an arm wraps around his shoulder.
"I think his skin makes him look cool, dude!" Jin says, a warm smile on his face. Tomura reflexively shrugs his shoulders to get rid of the boys arm on him, and Jin just smiles wider as he removes his arm, thankfully used to the teens strange feelings about unwanted touches. "Unique. Some people are just meant to...blend in, I guess." Jin says, looking Keigo up and down.
Tomura muffles a snort behind his hand, seeing Keigo's offended face. Before the blonde could lash out, a slender arm wraps around his waist, and Tomura's shoulders tense again. Keigo's eyes instantly trail to his boyfriend, the ravenette gently placing a quick kiss on his cheek.
"What's up, babe?" Dabi hums, turning his gaze to Tomura and Jin. Immediately, the grey-ish blue haired boy averts his gaze, becoming easily nervous under those intense azule eyes. Tomura makes sure to stare at the floor, as he remembers a memory of when they were all younger, spin the bottle. The bottle had landed on Dabi- or Touya as he was called back then, until he suddenly refused to go by it- and Tomura can remember how pissed Keigo was when the two had kissed.
Hence, why Keigo began to think of Tomura as a rival.
"Nothing important." Keigo shrugs, sending the two a toxic glance, before he presses his lips to Dabi's scarred ones briefly, before striding away down the halls. Leaving Dabi stood with the two, an awkward silence washing over them, as Tomura tries his best to not stare too long at Dabi's extremely attractive face.
"Sorry about him, he's stopped drinking caffeine for some reason, he's just on edge, I guess." Dabi shrugs, eyes locking with crimson, before Tomura rolls his eyes and looks away.
"Haven't you noticed, he is always 'on edge'?" Tomura scoffs, Jin grinning slightly. Dabi just stays silent, before nodding and turning to follow in his boyfriends direction.
The day drags by, lessons with boring teachers, their words flying in one ear and out the other, making Tomura effectively learn absolutely nothing. Doesn't change the fact that he is one of the smartest in his class though, even if he barely has to try. Tomura had initially went to the lunch hall for dinner, but seeing Keigo and Dabi flirting, borderline eye-fucking, just made him extremely uncomfortable, the way Dabi was looking at the blonde, with his intense gaze, just like in his book....yeah, Tomura had to text his friends to ask where they were, only to find out they ditched him to go to subway. He ended up spending his lunch on the bleachers with Chisaki, after a failed attempt at eating loud carrots in the library, only to be glared at.
Tomura is just glad that the day is finally over. First days are always the most exhausting, and it feels like you are there for around four weeks, not seven hours.
He's lucky that somehow talking with Himiko tends to give him a slight energy boost. Maybe it's because she seems to have excess energy coming from her fucking ass, while Tomura is drained of it.
"It was so much fun! Everyone wanted to sit next to me at lunch, like, Ochako wanted to, but so did Deku, and so did Tsuyu, so like, we ended up rotating so everyone had a chance to sit next to me! You know?" Toga grins, basically vibrating with energy, as she turns to look at Tomura.
Tomura just keeps walking to the car, sparing her a deadpan look. "Sure, I can totally relate." He grumbles, sarcastically. Himiko is aware of his terrible social life, and without realising it, she ends up flaunting her popularity infront of him alot. Not that he minds, though. It's nice to see his little sister happy.
Toga all but charges to the car, waiting until Tomura digs out the keys from his pocket. Tomura opens the car doors, and they get in, Himiko finally stopping her rant about all her twenty odd friends. Tomura sighs, leaning his head against his seat, until a click from beside him makes his eyes lazily drift over to his sister.
Toga pauses, hands clipping the helmet around her head freezing, as she looks at him with a wry smile. "What? I don't trust you to not kill us." Tomura just scowls at her, before they both get their seatbelts on, and Tomura reverses his car.
Just as he is reversing back, someone walks in his way, and he immediately shoves a foot on the brakes, as the person bends down to peer in the back window. Tomura's eyes widen as he looks in the rear view mirror, and his eyes lock with turquoise irises.
Toga breathes out a laugh from beside him, yet he doesn't tear his gaze away from Dabi, until the ravenette moves to the side of the car.
"Good thing I was wearing my helmet!" Toga snickers, knocking a fist on the obnoxiously hot pink biker helmet.
A knock at his window would usually make Tomura look, but knowing who he almost flattened, he doesn't want to make eye contact, so his eyes dart around nervously before he rolls down his window slowly, chewing his lip anxiously.
"Shigaraki." Dabi says, arm leaning against the top of the car, glancing between his classmate and the younger girl.
It takes Tomura a whole lot of restrain to not just drive away from this asshole. He can hear the amusement laced in Dabi's voice, and it makes him want to deck him.
"Dabi." Tomura greets, eyes finally landing on the ravenette, and his stupid attractive smirk, with his dumb pretty eyes and annoyingly deep voice. The corner of Dabi's lips tilt up in a smirk, as he looks at how awkward Tomura seems to be.
"You know people usually check their rear view mirrors before reversing to, well you know, avoid killing people." Dabi says, clearly not at all bothered by Tomura almost running him over, he seems to be purely enjoying taunting him.
"No shit, patches." He snarls, getting even more embarrassed and angry when Dabi just grins. "Who says I wasn't purposefully trying to murder you?"
Dabi grins, his eyes flickering between each of Tomuras, making the latters nerves climb and his stomach do flips at the intense gaze. He can see Toga's grin slowly widening from beside him as she watches this interaction.
Dabi grins. "Then damn, I'm honoured that you'd risk going to jail just for me!" Toga snickers from beside him, and Tomura groans. "So, you think you can make it out of the parking lot alive or?"
Tomura's hand reaches up to his neck, and he begins grating at the already wounded skin on his neck. Toga eyes him from beside him, yet she stays silent. .
"Go fuck yourself, patches." .
"Just for you, creep." Dabi winks, and Tomura leans forward, gently hitting his head against the steering wheel, groaning in annoyance.
"Hey, you, crazy." Dabi says, and Tomura lifts his head to see him pointing at Toga, who raises a brow in curiosity. "You're in charge now." Himiko grins, snickering as Tomura grits his teeth.
"Don't die on me now, creep." Dabi snickers, and Tomura all but shoves Dabi away from his mirror, and rolls it up. Dabi just smirks at him from outside the glass, before pulling two fingers to his forehead and saluting with a taunting wink, and then he turns and walks away.
Tomura is seething from rage, gritting his teeth, scratching at his neck, toes curled in frustration. Toga gauges Tomura's extreme reaction to the ravenette, a curious smile playing at her lips.
"Who is that?" She cocks a brow, and Tomura glares at her.
"Fucking Dabi."
Toga hums, watching as Dabi slowly turns a corner and is out of sight. "I like him. He's funny!"
"He is not! He's infuriating, and annoying, and an ass! Plus, he's dating fucking Keigo!" Shigaraki spits in disgust, forcefully setting the gears to get the car moving.
Toga just smirks to herself, knowingly.
_____
Tomura's eyes lift from his phone screen, at the sound of repetitive beeping. He glances up at the microwave, and hears Toga's yells of excitement from the room over. He chuckles to himself, getting the popcorn out of the machine, and pouring it into one big bowl to share.
When he plops onto the sofa beside Himiko, she all but attacks the bowl, shoving salted snacks into her mouth until it's overflowing, and Tomura complains about the mess. He wipes away the fallen popcorn, before settling down just as the TV show started on Netflix.
The two sit in silence, watching the show with only Toga making a few jokes and Tomura's few critisistic comments about how fake the gore looks, or how cringey a character is. Then, Toga interrupts their peaceful silence with a cough.
"So...Tomura." She says, and Tomura doesn't even look at her, just hums in acknowledgement. "I had to cancel plans with Ochako-Kun to be here, you know."
Tomura finally turns his gaze to her, raising a suggestive brow. "Why would I care if you passed up a date to binge shitty shows with me? That was your mistake, not mine."
Toga huffs, frowning at him. "I cancelled plans to be here, and I'm like, younger than you."
"Not by much." He shrugs. "What's your point, get to it."
"Dude, I'm trying to say you have no friends!" She groans, clearly frustrated. Tomura just raises a brow, like he already knows. "Well, you may have none, but i do, and if I suddenly died in a car crash because of you, they'll be annoyed!"
Tomura flops his head against the back of the sofa, rubbing the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Don't remind me."
Toga hums sheepishly. "Hey, you know, if you had a boyfriend, he could drive us to school." Her brothers head snaps up to stare at her in shock.
"How do you-"
"Please, it's obvious. It runs in the family." Toga snorts, rolling her eyes.
Tomura eyes her suspiciously, before scoffing. "Well, if that's what it takes, I'm sorry to say that you're stuck with me, Himi."
"Well, what about that guy you almost killed the other day? He seemed...interesting." Tomura greatly dislikes the tone used for describing his classmate, its suggestive and makes his face scrunch up in anger.
"Dabi? Fuck no. He's such an asshole. Besides, didn't I already tell you? He's dating that walking sex chicken."
"Ugh! It's so depressing that you have no friends, jeez!" Toga pouts, while Tomura just ignores her and continues watching the shitty show, until he eventually feels his eyelids getting heavier, and his head flops against Toga's lap.
Himiko eyes the brother in her lap, biting her lip in thought. Ever so carefully, she scoots away from him, and stands up. She waves a hand in front of the sleeping boys face, to make sure he isn't actually faking it. Satisfied, she them sneaks upstairs, snooping through his room. It's a complete mess, thrown clothes and empty junk and cans littered all over the floor. She spots the closet at the back, and peers inside, narrowing her eyes at that suspicious little shoebox hidden right at the back.
Toga smirks as she thumbs through the secret letters, getting a terrible idea.
