Chapter Text
Jimin is a voice actor in various kid's tv shows but by far his favorite one to give voice to is Chimmy, a little yellow wearing dog in an independent cartoon produced by his two best friends on YouTube, it may not be his most popular or the one that pays the most but is the closest to his heart. He is content with his work even though his social and love life are somewhat lacking, he can't even remember the last time he went on a date.
He is in his favorite coffee shop practicing and rehearsing his line for the next episode when a little girl comes up to him. He recognizes Chimmy on her yellow sweater and the plushy she's hugging to her chest even though he knows Kook and Tae haven't released any merch for the cartoon yet.
"Chimmy?" The little girl asks, eyes wide in wonder and Jimin think she's the most precious thing he has ever seen. Before he can answer a handsome man comes barreling towards the girl and getting to his knees.
"Min Aera how many times do I have to tell you to not run off like that?" The man says, clearly worried if the crease between his eyebrows was anything to go by.
"I know." The little girl pouts before brightening up again. "But daddy I heard Chimmy!" The girl exclaims looking directly at Jimin again. The man following his daughter's stare. "Mister are you Chimmy?" Aera asks and Jimin can't help but smile.
"I'm really sorry about my daughter, she seems to have forgotten her manners." The man says getting up and taking the girl's hand. He sounds exasperated but fond.
"It's no problem." Jimin finds himself saying to the man before turning to the girl. "And yes I am, in a way." He crouches down. "But my real name is Jimin." The girl seems to stare at him, gaze calculating looking absolutely adorable before talking again.
"I prefer Chimmy better." The girl says straight faced.
"Aera!" The dad seemes mortified and Jimin snorts.
"It's okay, at least she's honest." Jimin shruggs.
"Too honest sometimes." The mam sighs. "Look at me talking about manners, I'm Min Yoongi and this little rascal is Aera." The man, Yoongi, extends his hand. Jimin thinks the man is more handsome the more he looks at him. He's got pretty hands too, long and elegant fingers that wrap around his own hand almost making it dissapear. Jimin blushes and clears his throat. Jimin thinks he sees the man smirking.
"Park Jimin."
Yoongi seemed like he was about to say something when another voice called his name, it was the barista behind the counter with a coffee and a little box with what Jimin assumed were treats.
"That's my order." Yoongi said smiling sheepishly. Jimin couldn't help but smile back. "It was nice to meet you, Park Jimin. And again sorry about my daughter."
"It was nice to meet you too, and again I didn't mind." Jimin said, not able to take his eyes off the man.
Yoongi grabbed Aera's hand and started to walk to the counter. Jimin shook his head and went to sit back again, before his butt touched the seat he heard the little girl again.
"Bye bye, Mr. Chimmy." Aera said waving her little hand at Jimin, and adorable gummy smile on her face and Jimin waved back until the pair were out of the cafe.
When he got to Tae and Kook's apartment he was still smiling.
"What's up with your face?" Was the first thing Jungkook said when he opened the door. Jimin rolled his eyes and elbowed him before entering.
"There's nothing wrong with my face, butthead." Jimin said throwing himself at he couch.
"You've been watching Legally Blonde again haven't you?" Jungkook snorted going to the kitchen and taking two bottles of water.
"Elle Woods is an icon and we should all be striving to be like her." Jimin said huffing. He didn't see Tae anywhere so he guessed that he was in the studio, a little room him and Jungkook had repurposed when they decided to start their cartoon. "Tae, Jungkook's being mean to me!" Jimin shouted knowing that he would be able to hear him. And just as he suspected Taehyung's head popped from the not quite closed studio door. His bright red hair standing out as always.
"When is he not?" Tae said rolling his eyes. Then he squinted his eyes at Jungkook. "You, behave." And then he was gone. Jimin took te opportunity to stick his tongue out at Jungkook.
"Really mature, Hyung." Even the honorific sounded sarcastic out of the brat's mouth.
After Taehyung finished setting up everything it was Jimin's turn to get to work. He was grateful that Tae and Kook included him in the project, even if they had to accommodate their schedules according to Jimin's own. And he always made sure to be available when the episodes were done, he had contracts with other characters in more popular, more mainstream shows, But he loved Tata's Adventures above any other project.
Not only it was his best friends' baby and he saw how hard they worked from the animation to the soundtrack to the story but it was also something he would have loved to see when he was a child. Where genderless, outcasts characters came together, where a literal alien came looking for friends and found a family and where most importantly love was love.
He saw how his friends came up with the stories in a way children could understand and how excited they where everytime a new episode was done.
He suddenly remembered Aera and he smiled again.
"He's doing it again!" He jumped when Jungkook's voice startled him, he was done reacording by then and they were all in the living room, Jimin drinking another bottle of water.
"What's wrong with you?" Jimin said now trying to dry the water that was now on his shirt.
"You had that creepy smile on your face again." Jungkook answered instead.
"It was more of a dreamy smile." Tae said, calculating look in eyes. "Spill." Jimin rolled his eyes.
"I met a fan of the show today." Suddenly both Jungkook and Tae were looking at him attentively with shining eyes. "I was rehearsing my lines at the coffee shop and a little girl recognized my voice and asked me if I was Chimmy." Now the other two had smiles on their faces so big their eyes actually disappeared. "She actually had a yellow sweater and a handmade Chimmy plushie."
"Oh my god that's so cute!" Taehyung exclaimed covering the sides of his face.
"You should have taken a picture." Jungkook said, stars in his eyes.
"Little creepy for a grown man to be taking pictures of a little girl he doesn't know." Jimin snorted. "I don't think I would have left a good impression on the dad that way." He felt his cheeks a little warm but it was enough for Taehyung to narrow his eyes at him.
"And why do you care you left a good impression on the dad?" Tae asked slowly smiling, if there was someone more bummed out by Jimin's lack of love life than Jimin it was Taehyung. Which in the past had lead to more than a couple disastrous blind dates arranged by his best friend.
"He was kind of cute." Jimin mumbled not wanting to give Taehyung more details, but apparently this was enough for him.
"Please tell me you gave him your number." Tae implored, Jimin could see Jungkook snickering behind his hand, clearly enjoying the show, so Jimin glared at him.
"He was with his daughter!" Jimin said exasperated.
"So!" Tae said like he didn't get it.
"He's probably not single if he has a daughter don't you think?" Jimin asked sardonic. Tae appeared lost for words for a moment. But not for long.
"You don't know that!" Jungkook was snickering louder now. "What's the worst it could have happened?" Jimin raise and eyebrow and snorted.
"Oh look at that, I gotta go, have a recording session early tomorrow." Jimin said getting up, while Taehyung gaped at him.
"Liar, liar pants on fire." Jungkook singsonged. Jimin flipped him of.
By the time Taehyung snapped out of his indignant silence Jimin already had his bag and coat on him.
"You little shit!"
Jimin laughed and opened the door saying "I love you too!" Before getting the hell out of dodge.
He walked to the coffee shop and ordered his usual iced coffee and some treats. Catching himself looking around the small space, when he had his order in hand and exited the shop he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed but the he shook it of because it was ridiculous felling that way because he hadn't seen people he had only talked to one time for less than five minutes.
He walked from the coffee shop to his apartment, only a couple of blocks from it and one of the many reasons he loved that particular shop. Once there he took the elevator to the third floor humming to himself, but he stopped doing it when he got to his floor and saw boxes in the hallway in front of the apartment right across from his.
He had forgotten that the last tenant had moved out the month prior, he just hoped whoever moved in was better than the last one, a thirty something guy that had the habit of bringing a different girl every couple of weeks, having too loud sex, and braking up with them when he got bored resulting in very loud arguments the ended up with something breaking inside the apartment. Only to do it all over again.
Jimin shook his head in disgust, the bar was on the floor so anything could be better than that.
He decided to offer to help his new neighbor, so he could get a feel of them, so he started walking again but before he gave a couple of steps a very familiar girl with a yellow hoodie came barreling out the apartment.
"For the love of God Aera, be careful." He heard Yoongi's voice coming from the apartment and he felt his cheeks begining to warm. Aera was about time answer her dad when the seemed to take notice of him, after a second the little girl squealed clearly recognizing him.
"Daddy Mr. Chimmy's here!" She shouted and Jimin felt himself getting warmer and warmer. He heard Yoongi's footsteps getting closer.
"What are you talking about?" Yoongi asked now in view. He had changed clothes, now in black sweatpants and a white t-shirt that was very flattering on him. Jimin gulped.
"Look!" The girl pointed at him and when Yoongi turned around his eyes widened a little bit, clearly surprised.
"Jimin?" He asked, and sounded skeptical. Jimin felt strangely elated that the other man remembered his name. Jimin smiled shyly and gave a little wave.
"It seems like were going to be neighbors." He said and Yoongi laughed.
"The world's really small, huh?" Yoongi said now smiling, making clear where Aera's gummy smile came from.
Jimin had a feeling he was screwed.
