Chapter 1: Bow Begotten

Chapter Text

"Ready... set... go!"

As soon as the gunshot was heard, the students of Aldera Middle School shot their arrows at the bullseyes... or at least tried to.

They were currently doing some target practice at the school backyard; which involved most of them grabbing an ordinary bow and arrow and use them to try hit the targets.

"Most of them" being the keyword, for there was one of them that didn't even need the bow and arrow. Instead, she had her own set of arrows to use.

She aimed her arrows, and as soon as she shot them, the arrow pierced the bullseye, swiftly hitting the ground before decomposing into light, one that promptly returned a particular object back to her hand.

A green hair bow.

The girl grabbed the bow, and green energy spread from it and created an energy arrow, which she used to aim with the energy bow she held.

"SMASH!"

As soon as that word was shot, the greenette braced herself as a gust of wind struck her classmates, causing them to release and shoot their arrows early, with not a single one of them hitting their target.

She lowered her bow and turned to the side, where she saw a fellow classmate with long, wild white hair and red eyes, with her fingers extended forward as if she had just flicked something.

And looking to the side revealed why: her arrow had not only pierced the bullseye, but the tree and part of the street as well.

Then she faced the greenette, sporting a smile that suggested she was expecting some praise from her.

Instead, she got a hidden look of disapproval.

"It's not nice to show off like that, Yagi-san."

"What else was I supposed to do, Midoriya-san?! You know I suck at archery! And call me Eri!"

That's the dialogue shared by the girls as they walked back to their classroom, having left early to go to the infirmary to get Eri's bruised fingers tended to.

"Is it really worth it to show off, when your fingers get hurt this much with just a single flick?" Midoriya shook her head. "Seriously, if you're not careful, you're gonna get yourself killed."

"Hey, you were showing off too, Miss "Energy Bow and Arrow from Hair Bow"!"

Midoriya looked elsewhere, blushing a little as she and Eri entered their classroom.

"That's totally different: Quirks are allowed, and mine just so happens to be perfect for the exercise."

"The flick was powered by my Quirk too, so what's the problem!?"

Their argument ended, at least for the moment, when they walked to Midoriya's desk and saw something on it.

A bunch of words written on it, ranging from normal insults like "nerd" to "show off" to... more obscene expletives.

"Ugh, not this again," Eri groaned, shaking her head as she reached for the desk. "How many more times are our classmates going to-"

"Hold on, Yagi-san," Midoriya said, grabbing Eri's hand as she flashed a smile. "Let's not be too hasty."

"Huh?"

Midoriya's glasses flashed threateningly.

"I have an idea..."

Shortly after the exercise ended and the students were given the go to either head to their clubs or go home, Midoriya and Eri began to walk away...

"WHAT THE FUCK!?"

Then they turned around, feigning shock as they saw the supposed top student in the classroom, Katsuki Bakugou, getting ready to pummel one of his classmates.

"What's the big idea, you little shit!?" he pointed at his desk. "You think it's a good idea to write on my desk!?"

"What are you talking about?! I didn't write on your desk! I wrote on Midoriya's desk!"

Bakugou became a lot more pissed.

"That wasn't any better was it."

The girls, satisfied at the turn of events, walked away as they heard Bakugou beat the shit out of the student.

"Oh right, the Sports Festival begins today, right?!" Eri chirped. "Maybe we could use your Quirk to head back to your house and watch it!"

Midoriya shook her head. "Quirks aren't meant to be used for such trivial things, Yagi-san. Even if the Sports Festival-"

"Starts in five minutes."

Midoriya slowly faced Eri, who was pointing at her wristwatch with a smug smile.

A couple seconds passed before Midoriya and Eri found themselves soaring in the skies, both of them sitting on an energy broom that was made of at least two bows.

"Alright, Yagi-san, we're going to get into a lot of trouble if we're spotted, so please, don't attract attention."

"Don't worry, Midoriya-san!" Eri did the "my lips are sealed" gesture. "This is just between you and me!"

"And please, for the love of All Might, don't look down."

"Why no-OH MY GOD!"

"You looked down, didn't you?"

"I LOOKED DOWN!"

"Of course you did."

At that, Midoriya sped up, hoping nobody would notice either her or Eri's thunderous screams.

The trip back home didn't take that long: after about five minutes, the duo stopped at the apartment where the Midoriyas lived, the greenette undoing the broom before they barged in, saying:

"We're home!"

"Welcome home."

The girls stepped inside to find two familiar faces already there: first was Midoriya's mother, Inko, and the other was Eri's adoptive father, Toshinori Yagi.

And for some reason, Eri looked worried at the prospect of the two being engaged.

"How was school today?" Toshinori asked.

"It was great!" Eri chirped. "I didn't get in any trouble whatsoever!"

"She showed off and broke her fingers," Midoriya spoke bluntly.

"LIES!" Eri hissed... while pointing at the greenette with her bandaged fingers.

"Well, the Sports Festival's about to start," Inko remarked. "So how about we sit down and eat our food while we watch it?"

Eri squeeled in delight before bolting to her seat, Midoriya calmly walking and sitting down as her mother turned the TV on, just in time for the beginning of the obstacle race...

Mawata Fuwa didn't really think she should be there.

Her entire class got expelled, and not even a week later, they were all re-enrolled like nothing happened. She wasn't a vindictive person by any means, but that thought kept popping in her mind, and she couldn't help but wonder...

Ah, there she was zoning out again. There was a time and place for everything, and now was the time to prove the naysayers... and Eraserhead, that she did deserve to be there.

That she had what it took to be a Pro-Hero.

"ALRIGHT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! IT'S TIME TO BEGIN THE OBSTACLE COURSE! JUST WHAT ARE OUR HEROES IN-TRAINING GOING TO FACE?!"

Once the gunshot was heard, Fuwa ran as fast as she could... which wasn't very fast, to be honest, but that was the least of her problems.

Especially when she and everybody else saw a group of giant robots in front of them.

"UH OH! LOOKS LIKE THE ZERO POINTERS HAVE RETURNED FOR REVENGE! CAN OUR HEROES IN-TRAINING STOP THESE MECHANICAL MENACES?!"

Fuwa smirked, and spread her arms as one of the robots threw his fist towards her.

She closed her eyes, then opened them again, revealing a pair of creamy pink glowing eyes that soon did their job:

The robot's fist burst into fluff, before spreading, eventually turning the robot itself into nothing more than a massive pile of filler.

"OH MY! MAWATA FUWA HAS MADE QUITE THE DEMONSTRATION! SHE ANNIHILATED THE ZERO-POINTERS WITH ONLY A GLARE!"

Not done showing off, Fuwa maintained her sight and manipulated the filler so she could step and walk on it, until she motioned it up, making it look like she was surfing on the filler.

And as she surfed through the rest of the robots, both Fuwa and the people watching at home, especially Midoriya and Eri, realized something exciting:

This was only the beginning...
