Dick Grayson enjoyed the silence. It was a sharp contrast to screams and laughter that echoed around the abandoned Arkham wing. At the same time the man hated silence, he was always a happy go lucky kid. Silence left him with his thoughts sometimes with Joker’s laughter.
Noise from the militia slowly faded into white noise as Dick got lost inside his thoughts. The feelings of betrayal, sadness, hate, and failure made themself known as repetitive thoughts filled his head.
Bruce had left him within Joker’s grasp for the better part of a year - almost two during that he seemed to just accept that he was gone. He’d always known he was a failure in Bruce’s eyes that’s why he was so easily replaced. Bruce never gave a damn about him and the second he went his own way he gave his title to his new kid. His new child soldier. Dick scoffed as he thought about it. He was never a good Robin; it made sense that Bruce saved R̶e̶p̶l̶a̶c̶e̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ (Jason) and didn’t bother to look deeper into the abandoned Arkham wing. Dick Grayson swore that after he was done with Bruce after he killed the man he’d—
“You’re losing your touch Ren,” The Knight scoffed “Didn’t hear my footsteps.”
The mercenary turned, the visible eye in the two toned mask giving away nothing. “I’m assuming you need something?” Even with the voice modulator he sounded annoyed, but fondly annoyed. “We have a long fucking night ahead of us.” The militia commander paused, “you havin’ second thoughts about killing the Bat?”
“Hell no. That bastard deserves what’s coming to him.”
The Arkham Knight stepped closer to the mercenary silently giving the man the okay to explain why he’s distracted if he wanted to.
“Jason Todd.” Renegade’s voice is like a deadly cold poison as he spits the name. Renegade doesn’t miss the small flinch from the Arkham Knight as he spat the name.
“What?”
“Batman’s fucking Robin. His perfect child soldier. Once Batman is dead I’ll kill Todd myself.”
Little did the mercenary know he had been talking to Jason Todd for the past couple weeks.
“How do you know Robin’s name is Jason Todd anyways?” The Knight was forever thankful that his voice modulator didn’t give the older man a hint that he was in fact the man he’s talking about killing.
Renegade scoffed, “I know a lot about Batman and his Robins. I know for a fact I know more about the Bat then you do.”
The Knight glared at his second in command before sighing. They couldn’t afford to argue on a night like tonight. As he turned to leave he called back to his partner,
“Jason Todd might be closer to you than you ever knew.” He took a long pause before adding, “Meet me on Founders Island within an hour.” He barked before leaving Richard Grayson alone again.
