Beginnings....
I slowly wake up as I feel one of my mates stretch and roll out of our bed then head toward the bathroom. I look at his naked, retreating form and think back on how lucky I am that he is one of my mates. I roll over and snuggle into my other mates naked body. He throws an arm over my waist. I shift through our collective memories and I think back on the day we met and a smile hits my lips. It all ended with the words of a poem I had read long ago…
In the long cold darkness of nothing
Mother Nature approaches a very lonely me,
With the proposal to marry one of her two sons, the sun and the moon,
She asks which I will wed, and my answer confounds her.
I explain that I cannot marry one and one alone.
For one cannot have a full and happy life without both in a day.
One cannot have life without the sun to shed light and warmth,
One cannot find safety without darkness in which to hide and find peace.
So I tell Mother Earth forever bind my feet upon her fertile ground.
Keeping my heart tethered to the hearts of her sons,
And in turn I am keeping them tethered to her,
Only by her agreeing to let them be forever bound to me.....Series
