"Boss..." Gage sighs, the lights flickering above him, sole survivor pressing the same button over and over again...
"Not to doubt your luck and... dedication... But it's been 4 hours."
"One more try, Gage. I know I got it now, I can feel it."
Watching the overboss practically drooling over the worn down yellow Port-a-diner, pressing the button to make the claw lower to pick up the plate of... A perfectly preserved pie.
"It got to be plastic" Gage said to himself, "nothing can look that good after 210 years..." He looked at the idiot, "well..." He scoffed.
~Another 10 minutes~
Gage's head slipped off his hand, pulling him right out of his dream, a beautiful dream...
Where he wasn't in the underground... with his overboss... who was trying to get a plate of an extremely old pie.
"Boss... Please..."
"...Soon" sole survivor moaned, Gage looked up, his boss leaning against the machine, pressing the same button again and again... He looked so tired.
The raider got on his feet and walked over, he watched as the claw went down and up again, without the pie.
It was as if there were a small sound of disappointment, he hoped none of the other raiders would find out about this ridiculous "job" the overboss had personally requested Gage to join him on.
He sat down, "hey" he nudged the other, the sole survivor gave a head nod as a response.
Gage's hand stroke over the overboss' fingers, slowly taking them away from the buttons.
"...One more."
"Boss." Gage was tired, he wanted to go home, "it will be here, we can come back another day" he dreaded the idea of coming back to this... Smelly, dusty and cold place, watching this process all over again...
"Just..."
"Ok... Ok boss, one more, and then we go?"
A small defeated noise escaped the sole survivor's mouth, Gage watched as the claw went down, the plate slid out of its grip... and moved over to the pickup area, without the pie.
He felt the heavy feeling of someone leaning against his chest, the boss didn't tell him this was what they were gonna do, just decided to 'surprise' him at the location.
"Ok..." The overboss started to get up, Gage looked at the ugly thing and then at the struggling man trying to summon the great ancestors for strength to get up from the dusty old disgusting ground, ancestors who definitely mocked him for this.
Both the pie and his struggle to get up.
He pressed the damn button.
He watched as it moved a bit to the side, lowered, and picked up the pie.
Gage inhaled sharply, 'please dont drop, please dont-'
The pie slid through the port, and down.
"Boss..." Gage held the plate, it was so... Red...
"I know, Gage, I know... I've wasted more than a day, mine and your time..."
"Boss, that's not what-" he tried again, eyeing the pie as if it were gonna disappear suddenly.
"I'm so sorr-" he turned around, "t-the p-pie! You?? YOU GOT THE PIE!!" The overboss shouted, Gage almost dropped the damn thing.
"Oh! Oh I'm sorry, this is amazing I can't-"
The raider watched his, adult raider boss who were in control of three, THREE, dangerous raider groups... Jump around like a five year old who finally convinced their parents to give them the overpriced wonka chocolate bar.
"Ok, ok, Let's go home! Woo!"
Gage carefully tucked the pie away and followed.
~~~
"Aah, look at that beauty..." The overboss placed the nightmare pie into a display case.
Gage shook his head, all that for... Ugh.
"Gage..."
"Yeah boss?"
The sole survivor turned around, placed his hands around his second-in-command's face, Gage froze, "thank you", he leaned in for a kiss.
They stood there for a while, soft kissing became heated, suddenly tearing at clothes, they would've gone at it if it werent for a small weak cough.
Overboss turned his head, "yeah?"
The young pack raider swallowed hard, "M-Mason-" he started, "wants to s-see you"
Gage flipped his head, the man quickly added, "boss."
"Fine-" before the sole survivor could tell the shit to leave, he was already gone.
"Cant have anything nice" he sulked, Gage dragging him back, "except the pie."
Overboss leaned closer, "except you~"
