It's actually a well-known fact that cats and dogs are natural enemies and can't stand each other, their instinct when upon seeing each other naturally is fight or flight. But for Chan is just a bullshit kind of stereotype, just because cats and dogs are the most common type of pet to own in a house and the media always portrays them like they are in some jealousy and territorial fight kind of thing. But he believes a good and caring owner can make them love each other as much as the owner loves them. For proof, look at Hyunjin and Felix. They love each other very much even though they are cat and dog hybrid. Felix always follows Hyunjin everywhere and listens to him well while Hyunjin is always ready to protect Felix and take the blame for him at any given time, they cute like that. Chan always found them snuggling on Changbin's sofa while giggling and when Changbin came they would entangle themself, grab him, push him to the sofa between them, and snuggle him from both sides. Chan is envious, Chan is definitely envious, that's why he found standing in front of hybrid rehabilitation the next day. Jisung said it was a stupid idea, well he agrees on that after a week, but at least he learns something, that it's not about the species, it's about making sure that your hybrid doesn't hate each other first before brought them home together.
Minho didn't understand why Chan brought him home together along with a dog hybrid named Kim Seungmin when he specifically said in his adoption paper that he doesn't like that specific hybrid. Well, he didn't exactly say that, but he sure writes something along the line that he is never gonna befriend or even just get to know him if it's not because they go to the same facilities. Seungmin is too boring, he's too inside the box, he likes his study and his teacher. He likes taking 'boring' pictures and writing a diary. Minho completely cannot understand Kim Seungmin. So, when he asked Chan about that, Chan just looked at him confused.
"I thought it was out of thankfulness like if it's not because of the facilities you never met Seungmin so you were thankful because of that, that's why I think it was a good idea to not separate you and him. That's what Mrs. Park suggests too, by the way."
"What?! No, it means I hate him Channie, It's on a rolling eyes tone!" he whined complete with the demonstration of the said rolling eyes.
Minho whine dramatically plops his body to the sofa missing dirty looks Seungmin throws at him. It's not like Seungmin likes him too. Why so dramatic? Seungmin has to stop himself from throwing any mean comment. He has to be a 'big guy' here because apparently, the older one can't. But, Seungmin actually baffled at the fact that Minho mentions that on his form, why Seungmin didn't put any? He should put one too. So everyone knows that the feeling is mutual, especially to their fox hybrid friend, Jeongin and Mrs. Park. Minho is just too weird for him to handle. He has a 4D personality, it's too much personality for one person. Minho hates studying and always annoys his teacher. He likes to take 'weird' pictures and is too forgetful but too lazy to write down in notes. Seungmin cannot understand him, at all. That's why they agree, that they can't live together, let alone rooming together, they definitely cannot rooming together!
But here they are together, supposedly living happily and peacefully as Chan’s lovely hybrid. They stay in the same room, almost the same name, and if Chan ever just casually calls ‘min’, both of them will perk up and then race to Chan at the same time. But upon seeing each other at Chan’s room they will be fighting and arguing again.
“C’mon, of course, Channie is calling ME, not you, why would he call you, you stinky!” Minho scoffs with hands on his waist.
“Nope, Chan hyung is definitely calling ME! And funny you said stinky because you’re the one who’s just come back from freaking dance practice, I can even smell your sweat from the kitchen, you stinky cat!” Seungmin snarked back then.
“Oh don't you dare bring my hybrid descendant in this you no-jam Kim Seungmin!” warn him.
Seungmin baffled at that “Hybrid descendant? Where do you even get that? Ha! as always nonsense Lee Minho”.
And the fight will go on with so many snarky but also ridiculous remarks, it’s not even an insult, not like Chan wants them to really throw a hurtful insult, but why get offended by that. Well, they look proud over their remarks anyway so Chan will just sight, forget about all his purpose calling ‘min’ and just go to the kitchen to start preparing dinner. Chan still loves them all the same nevertheless, he never take a side when they’re fighting, always give attention to both when they’re needy and always give them lecture and comfort fairly when one of them crossing the line. And Minho and Seungmin do love Chan and always crave his attention, but well yeah usually at the same time.
Seungmin was comfortably cuddling with Chan on the couch. Chan’s chest pressed against his back and each Chan’s legs on his side trapped him, and to put plus on that no Minho in sight, he was content. Not for long though. Both hear the front door opened, and the sound of someone coming to the living room. Seungmin feels Chan’s turn his body a little to greet the cat hybrid, and Seungmin just sigh and prepares to back arguing with his worst enemy. But Minho successfully surprised both of them because he just strolled to the couch and literally kicked Seungmin down from Chan’s lap and replaced it with his body.
“MINHO!!” shrieked Chan surprised.
“What? He's already done with his cuddling chance while I'm not home, now it’s my turn” Says Minho matter of factly.
“Not with kicking me down you moron, you can ask nicely, can you?! And even I’ve just cuddled with Channie, is not even a full 15 minutes yet!” Protest Seungmin.
Minho just ignored him and started closing his eyes, sinking his body deeper “Well it’s not my fault you can’t use your time well”.
And this really pissed Seungmin off so he started headbutting Minho’s stomach with light pressure but still making Minho and Chan who indirectly got pushed too.
“KIM SEUNGMIN!!” Chan shrieking twice in a row.
“YA!! Kim Seungmin!! Chaaannn!!” Minho wails in between gasping for breath.
“Kim Seungmin Stop it!” Scold Chan again.
And Seungmin stops instantly but looks at Chan with teary eyes and a pouty mouth. Minho who saw this just threw a disgusting look and turned his body so that now he’s holding Chan’s body and nuzzling on his chest while making sad whining. Chan honestly just so whipped (also so done) with both of them, just sigh fondly and bring Seungmin to sit next to him on the couch and press him to his side with one hand stroking the puppy’s hair while the other scratching the kitten’s back. Well, the fact that not long after that Seungmin starts lightly pulling Minho’s hair and Minho gives a little pinch on Seungmin’s arm, Chan will pretend to not see it, prefer not to bring it up in fear there will be another round of arguing for who starts first. Just 2 hybrid cuddling with their human peacefully.
That day Seungmin just finished all his class and just chilled in his bed, editing some photos, blasting Day6 new songs. The photos he is editing right now are the photos of three of them in an amusement park last week, Chan with black wolf ears bandana squished between the puppy and cat hybrid. Right now he just put some extra landscape to fit his phone screen so he can make it as a lockscreen. He didn’t hear the front door open and the sound of steps coming in. The bedroom’s door opening showed some black creature who instantly dipped to the bed under him. Seungmin who thinks is just tired Minho coming home, just turns off the music and continues editing the photo, until his ears pick up a heavy breath from under, peeking down his head, he sees Minho laying there with head buried under the pillow and hand gripping the pillow hard. He can sense Minho’s sad mood in the air. So he get down and start crawling to the older man, he feel worry seeping into his body at the sight of closed Minho
“Hyung what’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?” he softly asked.
“N-no it’s nothing, just tired,” said Minho, muffled due to his face buried in a pillow. But Seungmin knows better.
“Hyung, can I touch you? Can we cuddle? I miss Chan hyung but he said he’s not gonna come back until late”
Minho doesn’t say anything for a while, but before Seungmin says anything again, he opens up his arm, a clear invitation for cuddling while his face is still buried in a pillow in an attempt to hide his face. So Seungmin placed himself on Minho’s open arm and grabbed his waist to bring the older closer. Then Minho moved his face quickly to get buried in the crook of Seungmin’s neck. Seungmin can feel the older wet face, he doesn’t say anything, just moving slightly to accommodate their new position.
Minho finally let out a loud sob, and it breaks Seungmin's heart to hear it. His hand just mindlessly stroked the cat’s back to comfort him and also himself. After a while, Minho has already calmed down and get out from his hiding space and look at Seungmin with red cheeks that stained with tears, it almost make Seungmin cry, but he stilled himself he has to be brave for his hyung, he stroke Minho’s cheeks and give soft peck all over his face.
“You’re needy” Minho mumbled miserably.
“What’s that?”
“You’re needy,” Minho said more coherently while tightening his arms around Seungmin’s torso. Inhaling the puppy’s scent like it’s the only thing he needs.
“Yes I am,” He said proudly with a smile that calmed the cat instantly, making them stare into each other's eyes fondly.
“What happened?” Seungmin whisper softly
“Nothing”
“So you just cry over nothing?’
“Just feeling like it”
“You don’t cry over nothing hyung”
“I do now apparently”
Seungmin just sight and stroking Minhos’s cheek while showing his super disappointed frown. So Minho just said honestly, “I just overthink a little you know, and today really sucks, so yeah.”
“Overthink about what?” he retorts with a confused frown.
“Well you know, equal rights, Korean economy, how to overthrow the government, usual stuff”
“Oh yeah I get it, I think about it sometimes too, but it doesn’t push me to cry over that thought?”
“Well I think you don’t go deep into that Kim Seungmin, you have to feel it in your bones, so you get mad and start making changes!” Minho raised his voice gradually and topped it with fist balling in the air almost punching Seungmin’s face.
“Wow, you already planned a revolution huh?”
“Indeed, I’m recruiting now, if you register today maybe I’ll consider you as my right’s right man”
“Not a right man, but the right’s right, huh? And who’s this mighty right man, may I ask?” Seungmin said with a forced smile and raised an eyebrow. Somehow more offended than he was supposed to.
“Jeongin will be my right man while Chan’s my left. I don’t wanna directly see you at my right so with this at least you’re gonna be far enough from my vision” Minho states innocently.
“Well, it’s your loss, I studied law almost graduated with a perfect score, while Jeongin studied nursery, I think I got more advantage to be the right man than him”
“That’s where you got wrong, Jeongin studied handling kids, he can handle everything now. More importantly, Jeongin will say yes to all my plans and even put some more good spice in it” He smiled proudly.
“Bet that’s why you put Chan hyung as your left man because he reasons you. At least make me as Chan hyung’s right man then” Seungmin rolled his eyes annoyed.
“Aha, No way! You gonna hoarder Chan that way, that’s why I put you faaaarr away from him, Chan is mine Seungmo '' The older said with a smirk.
“You’re a menace” Seungmin chuckled with a slap on Minho’s chest that actually kinda hurt. But, Minho is feeling forgiving today so he just settled for a hiss and angry staring.
“Whatever. Now please don’t forget to remind Jeongin our plan will start tomorrow, dawn, campus, dance club, we’re gonna pull the human member's hair since they didn’t have a tail so they’ll understand pulling our tail is fucking hurt both physically and mentally! And then-”
“Wait” Seungmin stopped him and suddenly remembered their previous conversation before it began stranded with some random skit. “Did someone pull your tail hyung?” Seungmin said carefully. Minho avoided his eyes, staring everywhere that isn’t Seungmin’s eyes and the teary eyes are back.
“Hyung, did someone harass you in the dance club?” He said again more dangerously this time “I can ask Felix or Hyunjin”
“Noo, don’t. Some members did, they called me names at first but when I didn’t react, they started trying to pull my tail a few times. I just really tired today to fight back, so I don’t” His voice sounded so small when saying that it broke Seungmin too.
“What the hell? Did the coach know? Did someone stop it? Did they do more?” He’s started to panic and tried to check the other’s body for any injury.
“Wait, Seungmin I’m fine, they didn’t do anything else, Hyunjin stepped in immediately when he noticed it. And no, I haven’t told the coach, I don’t wanna make it bigger than it is, no please min, I just really tired today” tear fall from Minho’s eyes after that. The younger kisses the tear away softly.
“Hyung we can’t let them get away just like that, they harass you out of nowhere”
“It's just, they got a little jealous because I got to perform solo for the showcase, it is rare for hybrids to get this chance so they got a little angry.” Seungmin’s blood boils at this. He doesn’t realize when he’s raising his voice.
“That doesn’t mean they can do that to you!” Minho whimpered at that. He hates seeing Sungmin angry. The younger are the most rational and collected people. He handled everything rationally and calmly. But when he gets really angry, he’ll throw away all of those and start throwing punches.
“Hyung no, i-” he sighs “You’re the most talented dancer I know, you’ve been dancing basically your whole life, you deserved that solo, hybrid or not. And that'll pain me if they discredit your hard work just like that.”
“Yes Seungmo, I know, That’s why I don’t give up on the solo” He tried to crack a smile.
“Okay good. But still, can we tell Chan hyung so he can process it to the school. They pull your tail hyung, that’s physical abuse right there!” The puppy argues with a frown.
“Yes, I will tell Channie when he'd got home, now can we sleep now? I have a super bad and tiring day today, I want a little rest before dinner.” This time, Minho’s turn to sigh. He had an unpleasant day with so many unfortunate turns today. He just wanna rest for now.
“Of course, I’ll prepare dinner later, now go to sleep.” Seungmin tightens his hug and leaves butterfly kisses on Minho’s forehead, his eyelids, his nose, and lastly, gives a little peck on his lips. Minho’s humming in agreement until he realized.
“Nope, you’re not gonna cook! No, no way. I still love the kitchen’s new wallpaper. They’re our favorite color, please don’t burn it. Just call delivery, I want kimchi jjigae.”
“I know a super delicious kimchi jjigae recipe thought”
“Kim Seungmin!” He warned.
“Okay okay, whatever. Go to sleep now oldman.” He reaches for the cat’s ears and starts scratching the back of it with one hand resulting in a content purr from the older. The other hand reached out for his phone trying to text someone. Maybe cats really have some top-notch quality sixth sense because the next thing Minho let out is a warning. “Oh, and Kim Seungmin please do not try to find them or beat them up! Don’t make trouble! Let Channie handle it.”
Rolling his eyes Seungmin defends “It’s not like I'm capable of beating them up anyway,” but he knows who can “go to sleep hyung.” and sleep he does.

So, maybe if Chan saw Seungmin with Changbin staring down angrily at 2 kneeled figures that he believes are members of School Dance Club after he just stormed angrily to the School Director Office, he doesn’t say anything. He just gonna have an accusation conversation with Changbin later. Because deep down, Chan actually already predicted this outcome, but he knew nothing would stop Kim Seungmin, so he just ignored it, convinced himself that he saw nothing. Dogs are very protective creatures after all, especially to the ones that are precious to them, especially to Minho for Seungmin. Hide behind all the fighting and constant bickering, Chan knows them well. Chan knows they treasured each other. They grew up together, after all. Despite the stubbornness the two have, they got close in short times surprisingly. They take care of each other well and always silently glued together but get offended when people point that out. And although this is a secret, Mrs. Park has said, they cutely exchange chocolate. Seungmin will give Minho chocolate on valentine's day and Minho on white day. Chan agreed to bring them home immediately. That’s brought relief to Mrs. Park's face, she confesses then, she is really worried when people try to adopt only one of them, it never ends with a happy tone. So, when he tells Minho the plan to bring Seungmin together with him, his face instantly melted from the stoic expression earlier and his eyes held so much fondness and relief that making Chan ignore all the protest the cat’s throw, he already knows he made the right choice.
