Work Text:

The blaring of an alarm rang through the room, the noise invading his skull and bouncing all around to make Kirishima feel even more miserable than he was already.

Blindly groping around for his phone was taking too long, so he cracked an eyelid open just enough to kill the noise. Although when the alarm went quiet, the rest of the dorm woke up.

‘Should do the same…’ He thought, closing his eyes to block out the light. ‘Sensei said we would have rescue training today… I can’t miss that class…’ He could hear Bakugou screaming from downstairs, and that only made his head hurt worse.

So he covered his head and closed his eyes, pressing both palms to his head to alleviate the pain, even if that did nothing.

“I’ll go down in a sec…” Kirishima murmured, already falling asleep.

---

When he woke up again, Kirishima was slightly more alert; enough to know he was sick and that he would miss class today. Well, missed. Heroics class was either already done or about to be done. Now they should be having English.

With a small groan, he tried to get up and go to the bathroom, though the moment the air hit him, Kirishima immediately changed his mind. It was probably the fever’s fault, but it was too cold to handle.

Resigning himself to his fate, Kirishima grabbed his phone and looked at the time. Much later than he thought, meaning he slept the whole day. So was everyone done with classes or…?

“SHITTY HAIR!!” Kirishima winced at the volume, burrowing his head in the pillow to escape it.

“Whaaat…” He said in a clearly sick voice. Maybe this was a little bit worse than he first thought.

“OPEN THE DOOR RIGHT NOW!” He groaned again, forcing himself to stand up and walking over to the door to unlock it, wrapped up in a blanket. “What the hell happened to you?”

Kirishima shrugged, dragging himself back to the safety and warmth of his bed. Nope, still felt miserable,

But at least he was laying down. “Woke up like this…”

“Like this how? What are you feeling?” Bakugou sat down at the edge of the bed, far enough so that he wouldn’t be getting whatever Kirishima had.

He closed his eyes and thought on it for a moment. “Fever, I think… And m’head hurts… Whole body hurts…” He mumbled, still with his face shoved into the pillow.

Bakugou grunted and left the room, turning the lights off and closing the door on his way out. Surprisingly quiet, but Kirishima wasn’t complaining.

He had to say, even being sick and mostly out of it, he still disliked being alone. He liked to be around people, especially if said people were hiss dumbass friends having fun. Though, Kirishima couldn’t ignore how much worse they would make his headache.

Still, he’d still rather have someone else in the room so it wouldn’t be quite as miserable.

“Kirishima?”

Ah, not exactly what he had in mind, but works as well. “Hey, sensei…”

“Mhn. Bakugou wasn’t exaggerating then.” He groaned in misery. Nope, not exaggerating at all. Before he could do anything about it, his blanket was yanked off and something freezing was dropped on his back, and the blanket was returned.

“ACK! What the-”

“Recovery Girl will be here shortly with something to help.” And the cherry on top was the fan Aizawa turned on and placed right in front of him. “I know it’s unpleasant, but you need to cool off.”

“I know, I know… I feel like shit, though… And I missed the rescue training too…”

“Hm. If that’s your biggest concern, I can manage an extra lesson once you’re feeling better.”

Despite the horrible cold he felt, Kirishima still managed a toothy grin towards his teacher. “Thanks…”

Aizawa sat in the room with him until Recovery Girl came around, and lingered in the doorway while she worked.

Although he felt like absolute garbage, it wasn’t cause for concern just yet, so Recovery Girl gave him ibuprofen, told him to rest and eat something, and also to drink water.

When the both of them left his room, Kirishima swallowed the pill and turned around to sleep. Just the thought of eating anything made him sick, and sleep sounded like heaven right about now.

——

“Oi. Kirishima.” He groaned, still deep asleep. “Kirishima, wake the fuck up.” He still felt really sleepy, and in that weird in between of asleep and awake. “Shitty hair, wake up you shit, before I make you get out of bed.”

“Ngh… Bakugou have mercy… Just let me sleep.”

“No fucking way. You didn’t eat shit since morning. Here, and you better clean the fucking bowl, or you’ll regret it.” Kirishima slowly sat up, feeling a little drowsy still. A bowl of soup was shoved in his face, and without any other choice, he took it. “Eat.”

He grabbed the spoon and side-eyed the blond. “You try forcing down food when you’re like this…”

A glare was enough to shut him up.

The soup wasn’t bad, a little on the spicier side, though it was extremely tame compared to what Bakugou usually made; that didn’t mean he enjoyed eating while the other glared daggers at him. He didn’t eat everything, but enough that he felt full, and a little better too.

“Hmph. The idiots wanted to come in later to play some stupid game.”

“As long as they aren’t loud…”

Bakugou grinned at him from the doorway, the same violent grin from when they trained. “Oh trust me, they’ll be real fucking quiet.”

Worrisome, though Kirishima was more than used to it by now.

Not two minutes later, Ashido, Sero and Kaminari entered the room, each giving a silent greeting as they did. Then, they set up their game, Kaminari pushed Kirishima away so he could sit with his back against the wall and his legs over Kirishima’s, Ashido sat closer to the bed to earn his cheers, and Sero handed him a water jug. A huge one.

“Bakugou said you need to finish that before he comes back.” Kirishima winced, but didn’t question it.

“Where is he now, by the way?”

“He’s making food for all of us, don’t question it this is the best moment of my life.” Kaminari pipped in, wide-eyed and looking like a starved man.

Ashido made a face at that. “Last time I asked him to cook for us, he almost threw the pans at me, this is a rare occurrence, and I’m hereby begging for all of us, Do Not Blow This.”

“Ay,” The four of them said at the same time.

Whenever someone lost, they offered to let Kirishima play a round, and while he didn’t have the strength or the energy to put into a video game, he appreciated it. It was way easier to deal with the sickness when his friends were there to keep him company.

By the time Bakugou came back, Kirishima was feeling way better, enough so that he could eat without issue.

They all camped in his room that night, and despite the pain and misery, Kirishima slept with a smile.
