“Okay, no, no, it’s not like that,” Steve says quickly. “Just — do you remember that night you guys got the mindflayer out of Will, and El closed the gate, and I got my ass kicked by that asshole Hargrove, and we all crashed at your place, only I didn’t have anything to wear to bed, so you guys were letting everyone borrow clothes to sleep in?”
Jonathan does remember that. But that doesn’t explain why the t-shirt he let Steve borrow is still here, with Steve staring at it like he’s seen a ghost.
“I don't…” Jonathan trails off. “But why would you keep it?”
Steve doesn’t say anything. He scratches the back of his neck, his face looking slightly flushed.

It’s silent, “Do you think… Can you come over? Now.” Jonathan swallows the lump in his throat.
“Now?” Steve looks around for a clock, he has no clue what time it is, and then it’s like something hits him, “Are you ok?” He’s alert now, his tiredness washed away.
“...No.”

“Nice bracelet,” Midoriya says, softly. Casually. Bakugou glances at him, but doesn’t respond with more than a huff. “Is that Kirishima-kun’s? From… you know.”
This time Bakugou cuts him with a glare.
“What’s it to you,” he hisses. But it’s not his usual ire. Bakugou isn’t actually angry, and his soft breath proves it. “I shouldn’t be surprised you recognize it.”
Midoriya shrugs, smiling lopsidedly. “I remember a lot from that night.”OR. . . 4 times Kirishima wears someone else’s belongings + 1 time Bakugou does.

Summary
“Are you comparing my relationship with Jonathan to the Fall of the Roman Empire?” Steve asked Robin. “Because even I think that’s a little dramatic.”
Robin snorted.
“No,” she shrugged. "The history between you two is so much less important than the disintegration of European superpowers. But," she added, "it's hard to forget pain. You want to know what’s even harder to remember?”
“What?” he dared to ask.
“Sweetness. We have no scars to remember happiness by. But acts of violence? Of destruction? Of personal moral failings? Those are the things that matter. Those are the things that people carry with them.” Then, she reached over and lifted up his hand, flipping it over to observe his knuckles: there was a long, red line that wrapped up and around his wrist and her thumb brushed alongside the skin where it was silvery and smooth. Steve knew exactly where the mark had come from, and so did Robin. “So how many scars did you leave Jonathan with?” she then asked.
Again, Steve paused.
“I don’t know,” he finally answered honestly as Robin’s hand dropped. But if he had to think about it, there must have been a few.
