Chapter 1: Trace behind the sun

Summary:

They were exhausted, defeated, but Blake knew what she had to do. She would rather jump into the void than let her sun fade away

Chapter Text

Blake was completely out of breath by the time Neopolitan and Cinder left to hell knew where, leaving the remainder of team RWBY beaten, too emotionally worn out to continue. Cinder had always put a good fight on them, but now, exhausted and without Yang it was even harder to beat her and that despicable henchman. She fell on her hands and knees and looked around to make sure the rest of her team was okay and it was no surprise when she saw them as vanquished as her, especially Ruby, who was completely zoned out.

She looked over the platform, from that spot her partner had just fallen from, the image of Yang's plummeting still burned in her eyes. Her sight shifted between the edge and her teammates, unable to make up her mind on what to do.

On one hand, they needed her more than ever. Ruby had just lost her sister and Weiss had lost her best friend and teammate. It would be selfish of her to run away once again, unable to confront the responsibility on her shoulders.

But she wasn’t actually running away right? She had promised Yang she would always be there for her, that she would never break her promise and she failed to save her. She failed once again to protect Yang and the faunus would be a coward if she didn't jump behind her sun, like the moon dipping in the dark of sea.  She sprang, but before she would reach the edge, Weiss' stopped her, grabbing her by the arm once again. She turned, her yellow eyes shooting bolts of electricity.

"Blake, don't even think about it. We need to make sure everyone makes it safe into Vacuo and we don't know what's down there." Blake growled as her eyes brimmed in tears.”We don’t want to lose you too. We need you.” Her yellow eyes strayed from the ocean blues, tracing a line that ended in the dark void behind the golden path. She knew Weiss was as hurt as she was, but she was thinking about everyone's good before their desires, or else they would have jumped already. The faunus didn’t care about anything else

"I- I have to do this, Weiss." She shook her head from one side to the other as she shook free of her teammate's embrace to then eye Ruby, still sitting beside Crescent Rose, numb.

"Blake, no! Stop!'

But it was too late.

She would rather face the darkness than be a coward once again.

Her sun was dipped down in darkness and she would jump headfirst into the unknown before letting her lover fade away.
