Work Text:
It was early afternoon when 7 year old Atsumu left his house to go play. He was alone since Osamu was stuck at home with a bad stomach ache because he had eaten way too much food the day before and in the morning. But being alone was boring to Atsumu since he had no one to play with. So he went to his best friend’s house, right besides his. He knocked on the door.
“Hello! I came to play with Shoyo!” Atsumu declared.
“Oh, hello Atsumu-kun. Shoyo isn’t home right now.” replied Hinata’s mother, after opening the door.
“Oh…” he answered, looking down in disappointment. “Then where is he?” he asked, looking back up.
“Probably at the flower field near the river.”
“Okay!” replied Atsumu, dashing towards the river.
The flower field was filled with dandelions, their seeds blowing in the light warm spring breeze. The sky was a beautiful azure blue. The river was calm, the fish swimming around lazily. And in the middle of the field was Shoyo, sitting down, hands busy with making something.
“Shoyo!”
The small 6 year old ginger looked up from whatever it was he was making.
“Atsumu!”
Atsumu sat down by Shoyo.
“What are you making?”
“A flower crown for Natsu!” said Shoyo, smiling.
“When are you gonna finish? I wanna play with you!”
“It shouldn’t be too long before I finish!”
Minutes passed as Atsumu waited, plucking dandelions and blowing away the seeds.
Bored out of his mind, his brain reminded him of the TV show he had watched yesterday evening. Taking the dandelions around him, he started to make a flower ring. It took him a few tries, but he managed to make one, a dandelion blooming where a gem would be in a normal ring.
“Done!” Both boys shouted at the same time.
“You made something too, Atsumu?”curiously asked Shoyo.
Atsumu grinned, standing up just to go down on one knee.
“Shoyo, I reserve your ring finger!” he proudly stated.
“Reserve… my ring finger? What do you mean?” asked Shoyo, head tilting cutely.
“I saw it in a TV show. Ma told me it said that if you accept the ring after I say that, we’ll be together forever!”
A smile bloomed on Shoyo’s face.
“Oh! Then I accept!”
Atsumu took Shoyo’s left hand and slid the flower ring on his ring finger.
“Now we’ll be together forever!” said Shoyo, his smile illuminating his face, like a small sun.
