Ajax remembers the day he fell in love all too perfectly. Back in middle school he was in an “organization” (which was really just a group of bullies) called the Fatui, he even had his own code name which alternated between Childe and Tartaglia constantly (he wasn’t the best with fake names). One fateful day he heard news about two new students, twins to be precise, Ajax saw this as the perfect opportunity for new targets. The plan was simple, show the two newcomers how things work around the school. What he didn’t account for was the severe as kicking he received from the female twin for messing with her brother. It was a completely blur for Ajax one second he was pulling the male twin by his braided ponytail and the next he was one the ground getting his ass handed to him, after the severe beating had finally finished the twins ran off leaving Ajax completely bruised and dumbfounded on the ground, This was the first time that Ajax had lost a fight (if you could even call it a fight, it was a total one sided beat down) something about it got him fired to challenge her.. The next day Ajax looked around for the one that beat him senseless eventually finding her in eating her lunch on the school rooftop with her brother.
“I WANT A REMATCH!” Ajax demanded pointing at the female twin as she was stuffing her face with her lunch.
The girl however stared in confusion.
“Who are you?”
“My name is Childe and I demand a rematch”
“How lazy were your parents when they named you?”
The girl asked.
“ITS MY CODE NAME”
“Wait aren’t you the guy the was pulling my hair yesterday?” The boy asked
“Oh him? I thought I hospitalized you” the girl finally realized.
“Yes I am he. But enough about who got hospitalized, I want a rematch.”
“Alright fine just let me finish my lunch.”
“Just be sure not to kill him Lumine. Or else mom is gonna be pissed.” The boy said
“Ah so your name is Lumine” Ajax commented
“Yeah yeah just wait there while I finish this.” Lumine said as she finished her lunch.
“Alrighty then lets get it over with.”
“You got lucky the first time but this time I’ll be the one to—“ Ajax was in the middle of his monologue but then was quickly cut off by Lumine throwing him over her shoulder and on to the ground.
“Huh?” Ajax was dumbfounded once again did this seriously happen a second time.
Lumine then began her violent beat down on the poor sap all while her twin watch unamused as if he had seen a scene similar to this over a hundred times.
When the beating finally ended Lumine picked up Ajax back to his feet
“So does this mean I win?”
“I’ll admit you’re quite skilled, but don’t you dare think that this is over. I’ll take you down one day.” Ajax said as he wiped the blood off his nose.
Lumine stared at in pure confusion. Was there something wrong with him in the head for him to attempt something like this again.
“I’ll see you tomorrow”
“Seriously tomorrow? You were already bruised from yesterday and yet you still want to keep going?.
“Ok then, you decide when we’ll spar again.”
“Ok sure how about next week then?” Lumine offered hoping that would satisfy him, she didn’t want to keep beating him into the ground every day.
“Alright then, deal”
“Are you two done yet? Class is about to begin.” The male twin interrupted.
“Yes we are Aether, do you need help going to the nurses office by the way.... Childe right?.” Lumine asked.
“I’ll be fine, just don’t forget our deal, Ojou-Chan.” Ajax said as he limped way dramatically.
“Ojou-Chan???” Lumine was completely puzzled by the nickname she had just been given.
“What a weirdo” Aether interjected as he grab his bag and made his way to class with Lumine
“Yeah”
And so that was the beginning of Ajax’s and Lumine’s weekly sparing sessions. Lumine won the majority of them and Ajax managed to win a few and some even ended in ties. Strangely enough they ended up becoming friends. Until one day Ajax came to a realization. He fell in love with the girl that kicked his as once a week. It happened around their first year of high school. The Fatui were no more yet Ajax still loved to cause trouble at every opportunity given to him, Lumine and him still kept sparring while Aether also watched in the background. Him and Aether weren’t exactly friends but they still got a long. Ajax didn’t even realize he was in love until one of his friends/ fellow harbingers brought it up.
~~Signora’s place~~
“So are you and that girl dating yet?” La signora asked nonchalantly not looking up from her phone.
“Huh? What do you mean dating?” Ajax asked
“Come on Childe, we all know you have a huge crush on that girl that beats your ass every day”
“Every week actually.” Ajax corrected
“And stop calling me by my old code name”
“You’re the one who was so proud of it in middle school.” Scaramouche cut in
“Ok can we for get middle school already, I swear every time you guys bring it up in lose a year of my life.”
“If that were true you’d be long dead by now.” Scaramouche said.
“Ok moving on from that phase, what do you mean by dating Lumine?”
“You always talk about how she kicks your ass in great detail, you have dumb pet names for her like Ojou-Chan and comrade, and last but not least your phone's wallpaper is a picture of you and her after one of your sparring sessions” Signora explained.
“In my defense she looked really beautiful that day........oh shit” Ajax had finally came to the realization that he was definitely in love.
“Holy shit did you actually just realize it” Scaramouche said as he tried to hold in his laughter.
“Zip it Shortie”
“TAKE THAT BACK ASSHOLE?!”
“Stop it before I kick you both out” Signora ordered. Ajax and Scaramouche both knew what would happened if they got on her bad side, so they never dared to cross that line.
“Anyway back to Childe being a lovestruck dumbass”
“Oh fuck you, how the hell am I supposed to ask her to be my girlfriend after all these years?”
“True. Your idea of a date so far has been getting your ass handed to you once a week.” Signora explained.
“Just man the fuck up and ask her out Jackass.” Scaramouche interjected.
“You know it’s shit like that, that makes me wonder how you ever ended up with that wannabe fortune teller.” Ajax shot back.
“HEY THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS TO MAKE FUN OF HER FORTUNE TELLING IS ME.” Scaramouche yelled out.
“Archons you two are a fucking headache” Signora said as she rubbed her temple.
“Anyway Tarty, if you want to get Lumine to be your girlfriend you’ll have to figure this out on your own, because I can’t deal with you being a dumb ass over long periods of time.” Signora explained.
“Good luck Jack ass”
“Geez I sure am lucky to have two supportive and great friends to help me with my love life.” Childe said sarcastically as he left Signora’s house.
It had been a whole year and Childe still hadn’t started dating Lumine. It wasn’t because he was a total coward that he hadn’t succeeded, no instead it the problem was that, Lumine is dense when it comes to taking hints, no matter how obvious they were. Hell Ajax could scream about his love from the school roof top at the top of his lungs and she still wouldn’t get it. He tried everything, he asked her on dates, gave her an expensive Valentine’s Day gift (good thing his family is rich), which resulted in him getting called a simp by his friends for months, and even tried leaving a love letter for her (she thought it was his way of asking for a sparring sessions), and yet despite all that effort she still didn’t get it.
~~Ajax’s place~~
“It’s hopeless. I’m doomed to be in the punching bag zone for the rest of my life” Ajax said with a defeated look on his face.”
“Ha, Still? You’ve been at this for an entire fucking year you simp.” Scaramouche laughed at Ajax
“Hey language my younger siblings are here”
“Oh please it’s not like they’re gonna repeat what I said, anyway how is it that you fucked up this badly?”
“Unfortunately I’m love with someone dense.”
“Man I almost feel sorry for you.”
“Can you help then?”
“Fuck no”
“Asshole”
“Look man if being direct is getting you nowhere, then why don’t you tap into that sorry excuse of a brain and come up with an actual plan.”
“Like what?”
“Hell if I know”
“Seriously how the fuck did you and Mona end up together?”
“It’s cause I have to something you don’t, the balls to go through with something.”
“Yeah sure” Ajax stared at scaramouche in disbelief.
“Maybe do something about her brother I guess.” Signora finally said something
“Huh”
“Look at it this way. Lumine is super dense and when her brother is around she becomes even denser.” Signora explained.
Ajax begin to connect the dots, whenever Ajax tried to flirt with Lumine, Aether always managed to make her take it the wrong way. By no means was it intentional. They’re just that dense, but if Ajax was going to win over Lumine’s heart he needed to do something about Aether.
“I GOT IT” The lightbulb on top of Ajax’s head finally lit up
“I’ll find him a girlfriend, that way he'll be occupied and then I can finally win over Lumine. Ajax explained
“It took you a fucking year to come up with that?” Scaramouche asked.
“Shut up”
“Oh well good luck with that, simp” Signora said as she left his place
“I better head out too, I promised Mona I’d watch one some cheesy rom com with her.” Scaramouche said as he made his way out.
“This plan is perfect.” Ajax said to him self with a proud expression.
“Big bro.” Teucer said as he walked in.
“Yeah Teuce?.” Ajax asked
“What does fuck mean?”
“Shit”
