Reader knowledge of Vampire Hunter D is not required.Niijima Makoto, younger daughter of the legendary vampire hunter Niijima, desires nothing but to continue her late father's trade. But when Makoto's elder sister casts her off as useless, she feels her dreams slipping away. Meanwhile, the city of Tock-Yo simmers with the dread rumors of disguised vampires within the walls. Schoolgirls are vanishing, one by one. An impotent City Council announces prize money to any who can track and kill the veiled beast. A half-vampire arrives in Tock-Yo to pursue the contract.
Amamiya Ren; half-blood; dhampir. The City Council, desperate for a solution, grants rare special permission for someone like Ren to enter the purely human city. Most do not recognize his hybrid nature, but Niijima Makoto notices him immediately. Here is someone who might be able to teach her the art of hunting vampires!
Makoto finds herself drawn to Ren, and he to her. They circle one another, like stars bound in a gravity of passion and blood.

Summary
50 years have passed since a strange incident destroyed the world as we know it. Shadows - supernatural creatures that emerged from the underground - paralysed the system and drove the surviving people out of the cities. Settlements were built to keep the shadow-threat at bay while humanity got used to a more survival-oriented lifestyle. But in a society where the laws aren’t upheld anymore, the amount of people who bend the rules to their own will increases. Summary
Akira Kurusu was a sixteen-year-old boy arrested for a crime he did not commit. Convicted of assaulting a man, expelled from his school, and put on probation, he must attend Shujin Academy in the city Shibuya for one year. If he makes it through his probation, he has the chance of having his record wiped clean and being able to live a normal life. If not, he can say goodbye to his future.
It should have been a year he could breeze through, working to change hearts and reform society. However, his life was not an urban fantasy. In this world, there are no palaces, no changing hearts, no Persona, and while there are cats, they don't talk. How is Akira going to survive a year in a school that has no qualms about making it clear he's not welcome? Is he going to survive at all? If he wants to even hope for a future, he'll have to try.
