Shockwave's Debt

Summary:

Shockwave owes a lot to the Decepticon overlord Megatron and finally, after many upon many megacycles, Megatron has given him a way to pay him back;
a mission for him as an Autobot spy.
But is this all going to be worth it? Shockwave fears it won't as he delves deeper than he ever should've into the new life he's created for himself. Longarm was nothing but a lie to achieve such a simple goal, but he is growing into more than Shockwave ever wanted him to. As he gains new relationships with new friends and more through Longarm, he mutates into something far more than just the mask Shockwave wears to pay Megatron back.
But Shockwave must be true to his word and pay back his debts... But how far will he have to go to do that?

Chapter 1: Welcome to Iacon

Chapter Text

Iacon was as busy as it usually was, bots coming in and out and everyone scrambling to get to work, school, or Swerve’s. Cars and trucks driving around, honking and talking amongst each other while the skies remained an empty void. Neon lights rimmed the dark buildings and a deep blue light gently coated the planet. The sky was clear for all to see, the stars and galaxies around their planet shone brightly as they normally did in the mornings here.

Or at least that’s what all the datapads had said…

“And I have no reason to disbelieve them of course…” Shockwave muttered to himself with a small gulp.

The Decepticon had been standing at the train station, looking over his new frame again and again. It felt disorienting to see his once purple frame now turquoise and grey with no antenna, no tiny waist or seams, and no claws. Instead, he had a chubby frame with a normal face and a mouthguard. The handle of his wheeled traveling bag was held tightly in his now normal hand.

It’s strange but I’ll manage. He looked over his datapads, again and again, trying to learn as much as he could about how to act like a normal Autobot. The usual polite greetings and the right words to use to speak to others were nothing new to him-- he’d be fine there at least.

It was a bit disappointing to know he hadn't thought to figure out the train system in this area however, he’d hoped to be early as possible for boot camp but now he’d have to settle for merely being in on time.

He shook his helm a bit as his audials tried to shift with discomfort and nearly pulled his mouthguard apart to flinch away from the noise surrounding him. All around him buzzed with life, bots saying goodbye to others, the excited chatter of “new lives”, “new sights”, and “new cities”.

For him, it was all a new mission, just a new assignment nothing to worry too much about… Oh, but he’d be lying if he said the idea of actually being able to walk in Iacon, as if he were a citizen, didn’t make his spark feel warm and fuzzy with excitement. It was a city known for being full of knowledge and some of the most powerful bots in the galaxies had lived here once… Not to mention some of the smartest…

Seconds after Shockwave finished that thought, a loud beeping noise alerted him to the fact his train arrived and with a deep breath, Shockwave boarded the train in front of him.

Most of the glass train was rimmed with metal painted a golden yellow and dark blue stripes. When he stepped in, he saw the interior was an almost pastel yellow.

The shine of the unpainted metal rims was very apparent as he sat on one of the chairs. Ignoring the other passengers, he gently wheeled his bag in front of him and looked around. Screens were littered throughout the train, some even on the side of the chairs, most likely for announcements, or maybe to play music? Shockwave didn’t know which. What kind of train even had screens?

He crossed his legs, sighing and thinking, maybe that’s just normal here. A deeply uncomfortable feeling settling in his stomach as he looked around. Autobot symbols were all around him, yet it felt weird that no one seemed to pay much attention to him. Shaking his head, Shockwave reminded himself of his new form and frame.

There was nothing out of the ordinary about him, he was simply another Autobot here.

The doors then began to close, offering Shockwave relief, as no one had sat by him.

Then the sudden screeching of tires made his audials flinch. Turning around to look at what had happened, he paused seeing a yellow Autobot run over and sit by his side, an Energon treat poking out of his mouth. He stared in shock as the tiny bot shoved the fuel down his intake-- making a mess on his face in the process-- and then panted heavily.

Right after he’d sat down, the train started and the buildings around them blurred and became smaller and smaller shapes in the distance. Talk about a close call…

The Autobot was small. His frame was coated a bright yellow with black racing stripes, and his helm had two round horns on them. His optics were wide and a bright blue. He was a car, with two little door wings, two of his tires on his heels, and the other two as his shoulders.

His chest had a large glass window on it, though it was tinted, so Shockwave couldn’t see if he was storing anything in it.

Finally, the yellow bot caught his breath and their gazes met.

“Hello!” the Autobot said. His optics lit up and he put on a casual smile as if he hadn't just attempted to swallow a piece of Energon whole.

“Hello… looks like some bot was hungry…” Shockwave stated, unsure of what to say. He didn’t mean to sound so monotone, but the Autobot didn’t even seem to notice as he chuckled, “Pshhh, yeah, I was in a bit of a rush because I got up late and had to pack all my things, and then I had to drink my Energon, but I also wanted an Energon treat so I went down to Tasmos and bought one, and then I panicked thinking I’d miss the train, but luckily for me, I’m the fastest Autobot ever! So, I made it just in time and pulled off, like, the coolest last minute entering! Did you see it? It was super cool!”

Shockwave nodded slowly in response. Honestly, he had never heard such a talkative bot. Not to mention he made the coolest entrance, not entering. Simple grammar but he butchered it right there. He didn’t even give him a name before telling Shockwave his story.

“So, can I have your name?” Shockwave asked and the other bot paused, not realizing he hadn't introduced himself. “Oops! I’m B- 127!” He took Shockwave’s hand and shook it with an energy Shockwave had never seen in anything as simple as a handshake.

“Oh, you don’t have a name?” Shockwave queried, though he just suspected whatever name B-127 did have slipped his mind.

“Nope! I was born in a batch like most minibots. In the place I was at, you’d have to be really lucky if you got a name before going to boot camp.” B-127 said with a smile as if what he had said didn’t sound super horrifying. Shockwave’s face must’ve expressed his shock as B-127 seemed pretty startled by his reaction.

“I mean, I wasn’t even born in that batch, I belonged to another, but my mother abandoned me, so they just kinda threw me where they could. I guess they didn’t want to name me because that responsibility usually goes to the mother and that’d be awkward. I can understand keeping my serial code. I mean. I wasn’t their kid and they weren’t my mom, so it makes sense. You know? Just weren’t that close and stuff...” B-127 paused looking back to Shockwave. He forced himself to blink and shook his helm.

“I’m sorry I’ve just never heard of anything like that before… I’m new in town…” he murmured with a shrug.

“Oh, you probably don't have a name either, do ya? What if I call you…” B-127 scanned Shockwave's body with his optics before they caught sight of his arms. “Treeeaaadsss…..”

Shockwave raised an optic ridge and B-127 shook his helm. “No, no that’s not a good nickname……”

He looked Shockwave up and down again, which made the con more nervous than he’d like to admit, before snapping his fingers with an excited smile.

“Oh, you can stretch your arms! That’s your frame’s ability, isn’t it? I’ll call you stretch then!”

“Alright… I’ll call you B then,” Shockwave purred.

“Hmm… Yeah I think that works!” B chuckled, looking out the window the smaller mech went quiet as he stared at the city lights.

Shockwave looked away and took in a deep breath, calming himself down before scanning the train’s interior some more. The soft mechanical noises of the train filling his audials as he looked.

On the bizarre screens attached to the chairs, there were now various advertisements and images displayed. One of which advertised Rossanna’s next concert, she was a popular singer on Cybertron though Shockwave had never heard anything she produced…

There was one for a local bar, which Shockwave paid little mind to, he wasn’t old enough to drink yet and he’d passed on the chance to lie about his age on the fake Autobot ID he owned. It wouldn’t be responsible and the last thing he wanted to do was have someone tell he was lying about something as silly as his age.

The rest he could see were pure Autobot propaganda, ‘know your function’ ‘play your part’ and ‘don’t slack off’ they read.

They all unnerved him but he was able to find some humor in a particular one.

It featured an Autotrooper with a flashlight in a dark shady town, right behind him a shadowy figure lurked, undetected and in bright red it read ‘Always be on guard, Decepticons could always be closer than you think!’

Not only had Shockwave easily snuck his way into cybertron despite the ‘vilgilant’ Autobots trying to keep him out, but the Decepticon figure looked like nothing he had ever seen before. It had long cartoonish claws, a snake like jaw with fangs and antlers like Shockwave’s.

“You think that’s what cons actually look like?” B asked, startling him.

“Heh well, hmmm, you know what? I don’t see why they couldn’t look like that.” Shockwave replied, hoping his smile didn’t look as mischievous as it felt.

The train then came to a stop with a series of beeps and on the screen to the left, it called for those heading to Quartex.

“Oh, oh! this is my stop!” B declared, raising his servo for reasons unknown to Shockwave. The con then paused. He extended his arm and grabbed the paper shoved in the pocket of his traveling bag as he heard Autobots leaving the train and B scrambling to join them. What? That can’t be right. It read Quartex. He looked up and saw the number of bots who had left and panicking, Shockwave got up, grabbed his bag, and ran out, thankful the doors hadn't closed on him... He looked around and spotted the little yellow mech, ran over to B’s side and B slowed to a walk. His blue optics widened as he turned to Shockwave.

“Woah, what happened Stretch? Ya seem kinda shaken... did I leave something in there?” Without waiting for a reply B searched himself and his items making sure he had it all until Shockwave gently grabbed his hand. “No, no. I just saw we were both heading for Quartex. I also didn’t realize how quickly you had to leave those trains...”

In hindsight maybe that made sense, this city was very loud and also very full…. Bots simply had a lot of places to go….

“Oh, you’re going to Quartex too? Neat.”

Shockwave blinked. “Neat.” was not the word he’d use to describe it; “highly unlikely” seemed more fitting to him, but B seemed rather delighted, so perhaps Shockwave was overthinking it…

B then intertwined his fingers with Shockwave’s as he pointed to the large, bright buildings of Quartex. “Well come on! No point being there on time when we can be there early!” Shockwave grabbed his bag seconds before B broke into a run again. Shockwave struggled to keep up. How could such a small frame hold so much energy?

As they ran, lively chatter and music filled the air, fascinating Shockwave even more… The lights and colors decorating the city were so pretty he didn’t know how B could scan over them so quickly and just keep running. A flash of blue startled Shockwave and he jumped back as B-127 shook his fist at the bot who had ran by. “Hey! Look both ways you aft! You almost hit us!” B yelled, but the other bot was already long gone and the yellow bot huffed.

“Man, some people huh?” B said crossing his arms, Shockwave just stood there before realizing he was supposed to answer.

“Oh yeah, some people sure do… Think they own they own the streets here…” Shockwave mumbled and B nodded.

“They sure do!”

They continued to walk around the city, Shockwave looking at every building and poster with intrigue while B scanned the bootcamp address again nervously.

The buildings were tall with dark paint and bright blue and purple lights that illuminated the streets and sidewalks…. The sky was a wonderful red, contrasting with the pretty buildings very nicely...

Suddenly B slowed to stop, looking down at the paper containing the address he squinted his optics. Shockwave felt nervousness tug at his spark.

“Everything alright?” He asked.

“I don’t think I know where we’re going…”

Shockwave felt both his processor and his spark stop. “Pardon?”

B-127 bounced his leg rapidly, “I have never been here before, I don’t know where to go…”

Oh, thank primus… “Is that it?” B straightened up and looked at Shockwave curiously as he pulled out a datapad. Luckily, Shockwave had prepared to go through the city alone and had downloaded a map of the area in advance. Using his servo to draw on it he quickly had a route from where they are.

“There we go, come on I know the way now.” Turning around, Shockwave flashed B a warm smile and the minibot quickly returned it as they transformed to vehicle mode, driving through the streets towards their destination.

The bright colors and lights soon dulled away to dark buildings of various hues and the noise died as well. On the road towards the camp, Shockwave could hear B’s engine purr as he circled him excitedly. The chatter and enthusiasm of the small bot was quite nice too.

“Honestly, I never even knew you could download maps to datapads! Would’ve saved my aft from nearly missing the train.”

He was good at making conversation too. “Maybe sometime I could show you how, it’s not too hard once you get it working for the first time.”

“Really? Thanks Stretch, you’re a cool mech.”

Shockwave felt his engine purr alongside B-127’s as he turned the corner and saw a long, walled off set of buildings. He slowed to a stop and examined them.

The boot camp….

Shockwave transformed and turned around to see that B had silenced himself. His optics searched the buildings as he pulled a piece of paper similar to Shockwave’s out of his chest. No way... As B’s optics widened, he knew exactly what he had realized, even before the Autobot shoved the paper in his face.

It was the same address. Shockwave didn’t even have to check. He recognized it instantly!

“That’s super cool!” B exclaimed, and before Shockwave could get a word in, he dashed towards the largest building of the bunch.

Shockwave just stood there, half stuck in shock over the fact he was finally here and half that he now officially knew a bot he was going to be going to boot camp with before he even walked in.

“Hey! You coming?” B called about halfway to the largest of the grey buildings. Shockwave assumed that would be where they’d recharge.

He nodded to B and began to chase after him. Of course, B started to ramble, he was now even giddier than before. Shockwave smiled to himself. Oh well, Best get used to it.

It seems like we’ll be spending a lot of time together Shockwave thought as B threw open the tall buildings doors and hurried inside. Shockwave followed and saw he was very much right in thinking these were the berthrooms.

Inside there were rows of berths, each with a thin blanket and pillow. Shockwave carefully examined the room and put his bag by the entrance, looking up, he saw B who was looking around excitedly.

“Look! We get a bed all to ourselves!” he said, feeling the blanket on one of the berths with his servos.

Shockwave chuckled. “Yes, I think most bots usually have one before they’re in bootcamp.” B blinked and looked at him, a surprised expression on his face. Shockwave swallowed more feelings of uneasiness.

B turned away and walked around a bit before stopping at the bed just left of the entrance.

“I call this one!” B declared climbing onto the berth and laying there.

Shockwave smiled, shaking his head, he picked up his things and put them beside the berth right next to B’s.

Shockwave sat on his berth and chuckled as B, in the middle of trying to wrap himself in the blanket, rolled right off his berth and hit the floor with a clang.

“H-hey! What’re you laughing at?” B huffed, struggling to untangle himself from the blanket.

“What do you think I was laughing at?” Shockwave replied, raising an optic ridge.

B untangled himself and huffed louder, looking at Shockwave, before glaring at the cloth.

“Stupid blanket,” he grumbled, picking it up and putting it back on the berth.

Shockwave was about to comment on B failing to make the bed properly again when the door was suddenly opened and two new bots walked in.

One looked to be B’s same frame, but he had sharp blue eyes and no pupils. His frame was dark cyan with yellowish-tan highlights. He too had a mouthguard, or perhaps it was just a weird jaw, and his face was sharper than B’s too. It had a diamond shape to it. His expression shifted from a scowl to a smirk.

The second one was a tall, broad-shouldered mech with orange armor. He had a large crest on his helm and small optics. His muscles were defined and his expression held confidence…. Too much of it.

“Hello there. You must be the other recruits,” Shockwave greeted, offering a polite smile.

“And what does that make you two? Janitors?” the cyan bot sneered, setting his stuff on the berth just across from B’s.

“Yeah! What does that make you?” the larger bot said. He set his stuff on the berth next to it.

Shockwave paused and gulped before turning away. He nervously pulled out a datapad and tried to focus his thoughts elsewhere. B, on the other hand, puffed out his chest. “That makes us the bots who are gonna be your teammates or-or kick your afts in the training exercises!”

Us? Shockwave turned to B his gaze shifting from the other two to him before swallowing his anxiety. He didn’t really just say that right?

“Hah! I bet your chubby little botfriend couldn’t stand a chance against me, let alone me and my bronze mech!” The tiny bot gave the other a pat on his large chest smirking at B, whose face flushed with anger as he narrowed his eyes at them.

“I never agreed to be a part of this and I think it’s a little unwise to pick fights this early into our training…”

Ignoring Shockwave’s comment, the bigger of the two pointed to his orange chest, arrogance shining in his small optics. “I’m B-301 but my friends call me Bronze!” He flexed his muscles.

The smaller one simply huffed, narrowing his optics. Oops, he did not like that last comment…

“People call me Seawire,” he said, putting his hands on his hips.

Bronze picked up Seawire, nuzzling him.

“But he’s my little Seaflower~,” he said, kissing Seawire’s helm, causing the smaller bot to giggle.

“Those still aren’t a thing Bronze,” he mumbled with a smile.

“Well, I’m Stretch and this is B,” Shockwave established, trying to bury his face in his datapad to calm his nerves. He wasn’t here to socialize, nor was he good at socializing, so it was probably for the best that he wouldn’t get along with most of the cadets.

Shockwave turned down his audials letting the others bicker and talk all they wanted as he continued typing. After what he assumed to be maybe 12.6 minutes or so, B grabbed his shoulder and began to shake him trying to get his attention.

Shockwave jumped turning his audials back to their normal settings. He turned around to ask the minibot what he was doing when he looked up to see the bot he knew to be Sentinel in the doorway. He got to his pedes and the others quickly followed.

Sentinel scanned over the young bots, his optics narrowed and cold as he crossed his arms. B quickly raised a servo to talk when Sentinel interrupted. “No need for serial codes. They’ll be replaced tomorrow, so just unpack your things for now. My assistant Cliffjumper will give you a tour when you’re ready.”

The cadets all exchanged glances.

“Can I hear a yes sir?” The intimidating bot shouted and the young mechs gave a shaky “Yes sir!”

Then he just left without so much as an introduction and the cadets all exchanged glances.

“Well, he seems to be excited,” Shockwave murmured.

“Y'know, Stretch, you sound almost like you’re afraid of him.” B's voice squeaked and he quickly covered his mouth.

“Well we can’t all be as confident as you are.,” Shockwave replied. His audials tried to perk up again as he heard B climb over his berth to peek over his shoulder.

“Can I help you?” Shockwave asked turning to B. The tiny minibot’s optics scanned the datapad he held. It was nothing but a summary of everything he'd seen since arriving in Iacon.

“Firstly, I never claimed to be confident, I’m fun, that’s all, and secondly…” He paused, raising his hand to point at the datapad dramatically.

“What’s that?” B asked poking at the edge of the datapad.

“A report.”

“To who?”

“Myself.”

“But why?” B asked looking over to Shockwave.

He paused. “I just like to have a way to reflect on certain things.”

Well that was partly true. He did actually like making reports, for Megatron, or himself.

The yellow Autobot tilted his helm, Shockwave sighed. “It just helps me remember details…”

“Huh, neat!”

B continued to look blankly at the datapad after he spoke and Shockwave held the datapad up to him. “You wanna read it?” He asked, B then blushed nervously, waving it away.

“Oh no. I'm not in a big, umm, reading mood…..” Shockwave clicked his tongue, a bit confused but he didn’t care to pry. “S-so, you guys like racing?” He spoke up and when he glanced to the others to no avail he just turned back to Shockwave.

“I’m a crane B. I can’t exactly participate in it.”

“Oh… right.” B chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck before Seawire let out a loud groan.

“Are you two done yet? I wanna look around already!”

“Yeah, we wanna look around!” Bronze repeated.

“We were waiting for you slowpokes!” B said, hands on his hips as he glared at the others.

Shockwave sighed, biting his lip with irritation, which turned to anxiety as the others began to stare for his reply. He struggled not to chew his lip as he nodded. “I’m ready, yeah…”

The others all exchanged glances and B huffed sticking his glossa out to Seawire and Bronze, before walking out, Shockwave and the other two following.

Thank god I avoided making too much of a scene… Shockwave thought, resisting a sigh.

Cliffjumper was just outside the building. As he saw the cadets walking out he turned to them.

“Everyone set?” Shockwave saw B flash him a smile before they all nodded and Cliffjumper crossed his arms. “Alright then, come along, I’ll show ya round.”

Cliffjumper was a red minibot, with horns much sharper and broader than B’s. He had grey markings and a thick, pointy frame. He held a wide stance, as if getting ready to fight, and he felt a bit uncomfortable to be around…

He guided them to a building just left of the berthrooms, it was just a bit smaller than the other buildings. Cliffjumper then opened the doors, allowing the cadets to step in.

Cyan lights coated the ceiling and rims of the interior. The rest of it was a deep Navy blue, with windows rimming the ceiling, allowing the stars of Iacon to be seen within. There were about 5 lockers on each side of the room with benches in front of them.

“This is our storage unit, looking through the lockers is not allowed as they hold vital items for this boot camp and others as well. Stealing is a common problem here and you will be punished if seen opening them so don’t try it.”

B then began looking through the Lockers, most likely scanning them for anything interesting. Most of them were just full of supplies and Shockwave could only imagine he was disappointed. As the con looked over his shoulder, he was a little let down as well.

Shockwave turned away to look at Cliffjumper who was rubbing his digits together, disinterested and looking more tired than anything…

The Con quietly walked towards B to join him and the others in looking around, he usually wasn’t one to wander but Cliffjumper was beginning to give him an anxious feeling in his spark.

As he approached them he noticed Seawire and Bronze were inspecting some kind of tool they had found in a locker. It looked to be designed to cut or even melt through metal and the mischievous looks they both had only added to Shockwave’s anxiety.

Picking up his pace, Shockwave passed them to see B scratching the paint off a certain part of the wall likely to look at some old graffiti, and walking closer his optics widened.

The Minibot’s digits weren’t digits at all, they were claws and sharp ones at that…

B lifted his helm up after inspecting the wall and turned to Shockwave with a smile.

“Oh hey stretch! I was just looking at some old message someone wrote in here. Maybe it was like…. Ultra Magnus or Alpha trion who wrote it vorns ago! I mean probably not but it is possible.”

B tapped his lips with a digit and Shockwave shrugged. “I highly doubt that’s the case... But regardless, may I ask what’s up with your digits?”

“Hm? Oh, you haven’t seen a lot of minibots before have you? Most of us have claws, it’s part of our function in battle.” Smiling he looked back over to the paint he’d scratched off the wall and chuckled. “But they have uses outside of that I guess.”

Shockwave nodded. Narrowly avoiding a shiver going down his back. What a strange way to talk about your frame type, focusing on its function more than anything else… Shockwave wasn’t even sure how many cons he knew the frame type of….

The Autobots truly did need to be brought down lest everybot think of themselves in such a way…

"You've never seen a minibot before?" Seawire suddenly hissed startling Shockwave as his optics narrowed. "Where do you live? On the other side of the galaxy?"

Shockwave felt his cheeks warm with embarrassment and anger. He should've studied autobot frame types it appears and he was starting to regret not finding the time to…

He huffed and crossed his arms "w-well I simply have not- haven't seen a lot of bots in my city… I was too busy to socialize much…"

Seawire raised an optic ridge and was about to press on with the topic when Cliffjumper interrupted him.

"Alright cadets, that's enough looking and vandalism. Come with me and let's finish this tour." Without hesitation, he turned away and walked out of the building.

Shockwave froze up, the tension of nearly being pressed for his origins getting to him as Seawire and Bronze followed Cliff. It shouldn't have been so hard either he had his story planned out...

He shut his optics, counted to three, opened them again, and turned to see B scrambling to shut a closet whose contents were about to spill.

Shockwave smiled relieved to not be the only one left behind and stretching his arms he adjusted the items inside the closet. It shut with a small clang and B fell over onto his aft.

"Ow, hey watcha laughing about? th-that was-that was totally your fault!"

B huffed and Shockwave realized he'd started laughing at the minibot's silliness without noticing it.

"Oh nothing, it's not important. What is important is catching up with the others." Extending a hand, Shockwave purred and B took his hand smiling before taking off towards the others.

Cliffjumper led them through the camp to a smaller building with a simple deep blue coloring and opening it revealed it to be containing nothing but piles of boxes and shelves full of items.

"This is our secondary storage unit, you will only go in here when told to is that clear?"

"Yes sir." The cadets cried, Cliffjumper nodded and pointed out the weapon racks, the cleaning supplies, and other various things the containers held. Shockwave noticed how dark it was and the boxes would make good cover for his reports to Megatron.

They then left rather quickly now being shown to a building with lighter blue and Cliffjumper revealed this to be where the showers were.

Just before Cliffjumper also informed them they had been recently cleaned B stepped inside and slipped on his aft, causing the other cadets to laugh. Cliff's unimpressed gaze made Shockwave tense up and he extended his arm to help B-127 up. The minibot stuck his tongue out to the other cadets and rubbed his aching aft before the tour continued.

There were various places for training of course, though some of them required higher ranking mechs to be supervising the training. But, as eager as he was to learn more about this place and how the autobots train their soldiers for battle, the cables in Shockwave’s stomach felt like they had tied into a knot when B boasted about how they’d use their skills to thrash cons.

Shockwave really wished he’d worked on his composure before agreeing to do this mission...

While he could bounce off B’s energy a bit, Cliffjumper felt as though he was trying to stare him down and he was trying hard to not let his anxiety show. The minibot made Shockwave feel tense and he made an effort to not do anything to attract his attention.

Of course the new cadets only added to the stress, Shockwave was clearly asking too much to just blend in and not deal with the stress of avoiding their wrath. Bronze scared him quite a bit and he feared Seawire would have the large bot attack him.

Finally, Cliffjumper stepped into the berthrooms, ending Shockwave’s tension filled tour as he turned to the cadets.

“And thus ends our tour, I’ll be talking to the sergeant about the plans for tomorrow, but if any of you need me just use my comm link.”

He wrote down a series of numbers on a stickynote and stuck it next to the door as he left.

Shockwave sighed, sitting on his berth. B quickly scrambled to his side and sat down beside him. Shockwave laughed as blue optics looked up at him.

“Hello there,” he purred to the tiny autobot.

“Hello! What do we do now?” B asked, tilting his head.

“Recharge? It’s getting late and there’s not anything else we can really do.” Shockwave gestured to the other cadets who were already tucking into their separate berths.

B looked outside and frowned.

“But we’ve hardly done anything…” he whined slumping down onto the berth.

Shockwave smiled reassuringly. “It’s the first day B; we’ll do more tomorrow.”

B looked up as Shockwave got off his berth, grabbing the side of the blanket that coated it. He was about to continue talking, but Shockwave yanked the cloth out from under him, causing the tiny Autobot to fall on the ground. B huffed and narrowed his optics as he got up and walked to his berth.

“Good night, Stretch,” B mumbled, settling into his berth.

“Goodnight,” Shockwave replied.

He shut his optics, sighed and covered himself with the blanket, shivering with the thought of what was to come if he didn’t find a way to avoid Seawire and Bronze...

It didn’t matter as long as it didn’t affect his mission, he reassured himself and set a timer in his processor so he could make a report to Megatron later. He hoped he had done a well enough job to please him and that he could show he was worthy of this mission.

A small part of his processor still couldn’t believe he was here… So young and inexperienced yet Megatron decided he’d been worthy of such an honor… Did he already set a timer? Better check...

After Shockwave did just that, he felt exhaustion crash over his frame and his processor decided it was too tired to continue. He wanted to think more and check for his timer again but one last yawn sealed the deal... Excitement and fear of what was to come in the following cycles settled into a warm distant feeling as his optics closed.
