Everyone had a soulmate. That was a fact. The mark on the inside of their wrist said so. Always the left wrist. Yours was simple. A volleyball, a ten written on one of the balls sections. You knew your soulmate must be good at volleyball, and you often watched the boys and girls volleyball practices, though the boys more. Your friend, Yachi, managed the boys club, so you hung out there anyway.
Bumping into someone, you apologized, before a flash of blonde hair bounced up and down. "Head in the clouds again?" Yachi asked, grinning. "You gave a small smile back, handing her the folder she had dropped. "Thanks," she said, and began walking. You walked beside her, rubbing your soulmark absentmindedly.
The habit was soothing, and you knew you weren't the only one to have this habit. "So what do you have today?" Yachi asked, referring to your art club. "Nothing, Mr. Yamada as out today," you answered, snapping out of your thoughts. "Why don't you come to volleybaal today with me?" She suggested.
You nodded, following her to the gym, coming on a room full of boys stretching on the floor. Two boys, one with a buzz cut and a short one with spiky hair popped up, and crossed the gym almost immediately. "Is she another manager?"
"She's so pretty!"
"Gorgeous!"
"A goddess!"
"Second to only Queen Kiyoko!"
"What's happening?" you whispered to Yachi. "That's Tanaka and Nishinoya. They're just like that." She whispered back. You nodded, going up to run your fingers through your hair, a nervous habit of yours. This prompted Tanaka and Nishinoya to point out your soulmark. "It's a volleyball!" Nishinoya yelled, drawing the attention of the other boys.
Tanaka held out his hand. "May I shake your hand?" He asked. You slowly gave him your hand, watching him visibly droop when nothing happened. Nishinoya shook your hand next, once again visibly drooping. A tangerine-haired boy ran over to you, eyes sparkling. "I'm Hinata, and I'm headed straight for the summit! Do you know the little giant? Do you play volleyball?" He asked loudly.
You once again shook your head, your social anxiety taking over. You looked towards Yachi to help. She swallowed, then managed a squeaky, "They're in art club." Hinata gasped loudly. "What media do you use the most?" He yelled. You opened your mouth to answer, only for a taller boy to slap Hinata on the head.
"Boke Hinata Boke! You're scaring her!" He yelled. "Oh whatever dad," Hinata said mockingly, scowling at the tall boy. "That's Kageyama." Yachi said. "He and Hinata have a friend/enemy relationship," she said with a smile as the two continued t argue. "We all know why you're asking he that question!" Kageyama yelled at Hinata.
"And who says I can't ask her!" Hinata yelled back, jumping up and down in anger. It was kinda cute. "I'm just saying there are easier ways to find out!" Kageyama roared.
"Um...find out what?" you asked quietly. They both turned to you.
"Hinatathinksyoumightbehissoulmate."
"Ijustwantedtoaskwhatkindofmediayouuseforart!"
Both sentences came flying at you, and you had no idea what either of them said. "I'm a digital artist if helps." You muttered. Hinata stood rigid, squeaking. Kageyama just stood there. "M-may I shake your hand?" Hinata aksed quietly after a minute. The boys on the side were now gathered around the two of you, and you tensed.
Taking a deep breath, you answered, "Sure, but everyone needs to back up like ten steps." You said. The team complied, but stayed in a ring. Hinata stuck his hand out, and you reached for it. Taking it, you both withdrew sharply as your soulmarks stung. Only registering what had happened after a few seconds the two of you stared at each other.
"I knew it!" Hinata jumped up again. "Mine's a drawing tablet and a pen!" He said excitedly. You offered yours. "Mine's a volleyball with a ten." Hinata pumped his fists. "That's the Little Giants' number! I'm gonna be just like him!" He said, smiling. You giggled at his excitement, causing him to blush.
Oh, you were going to like him.
