   Summary

   A young woman, a dark man with a dark history she and the viewer are gradually brought into, a gloomy ambiance full of dread; NOS4A2, the 2019-2020 TV adaptation of the Joe Hill book of the same title, brings Gothic romance to modern working class Massachusetts and Colorado. The vulnerable heroines of the genre become involved in a dark story, isolated as they contend with the dark male figure. Except instead of having one Gothic heroine, and placing that heroine in contrast to other women who are not heroines, the show has its female protagonist connect and work with those other women. Not only that, it also has her share the role of Gothic heroine.
