“Hey, Maki, how do you eat a crème egg?” Nobara asked, peeling the foil off the Easter-themed chocolate.
She was sat with Maki, digging into different confectionary they had bought, and surrounded by the rest of their peers under a large tree. Shade had encompassed their small group, keeping them cool as the sun beat down, scorching the pavement. The grass was rough under her outstretched legs, scratching lightly at the skin behind her knees.
Kugisaki had been examining the egg in her hand for the past two minutes, contemplating how many different ways there are to eat them. And what that she could determine with the information.
Maki made a weird sound, scrunching up one side of her face. “Why?”
“I don’t know. I just think that you could probably determine someone’s sexuality by how they eat a crème egg,” She stated, finally taking a bite of her chocolate. Nobara looked up at Maki when she didn’t say anything, finding a small smirk on the older girls face as she licked out the fondant of her egg. Kugisaki felt her face grow hot as she watched her with magnified anticipation.
The Zenin finished her chocolate and started laughing, reaching for the box of ten they were sharing and picking out another. “Is this something that Gojo told you? Or is it like the Haribo incident a month ago?”
Nobara held back a small squeal as her brain short circuit, rewiring and making her face glow bright red. “No! No, it’s nothing like that,” she protested, looking in the opposite direction to Maki because, yes, It was like that.
She sighs heavily, taking another bite of the chocolate treat and started staring at her peers. Her attention was drawn to Panda first, witnessing an absolute atrocity when he chucked the bare chocolate egg up in the air and caught it in his mouth. Nobara’s eyes blew wide, blinking only every few seconds, and her jaw slackened at the site.
Maki chuckled, moving her free hand under Nobara’s chin and gently pushed it upwards, “What’s the verdict with Panda then?”
“He doesn’t count. He’s not human,” she immediately replied, wiping the saliva from the edges of her mouth and chin. Her eyes flit around the group, desperately trying to find a way to prove her point. They stopped at Fushiguro and Itadori, watching them converse about something while eating their crème eggs.
Fushiguro took small bites out of the chocolate, picking up small amounts of fondant filing to balance out the flavour. Whereas Itadori nibbled at the chocolate, eating as much of the chocolate around the filling before the fondant started slowly flowing onto his fingers and making a mess.
Maki looked at her expectantly, raising her brows and nodding over to the other two first years. Kugisaki scoffed, like the answer was so obvious, “Both are either bi, questioning or no label,” she licked at the fondant in her egg, side eying Maki.
The older girl could have argued against her thesis, stating that it was already very obvious, but she kept it to herself and started biting at her chocolate.
A long stretch of comfortable silence elapsed around them as they ate, and Nobara made the brave decision to lean her head against Maki’s shoulder, resting her eyes and listening to dull, distant conversation. It was broken, however, by a yelling panda -who had stood up and moved across the circle they had subconsciously made. Away from Okkotsu and Inumaki.
“Get a room!” he bellowed, dropping down to the ground with a thud and crossing his arms in an attempt to pout.
The two second-year boys had shared the crème egg, Okkotsu holding it in between his teeth while Inumaki leaned in to bite, swirling his tongue around the fondant as it stretched.
Yuuta and Toge only laughed lightly to themselves and continued to eat, despite what Panda had to complain about.
“I guess that was pretty self-explanatory,” Maki chuckled, the sound rumbling gently through her chest. Nobara glanced up at her, softly smiling when she caught a fond look on the older girls face.
Maki inhaled sharply, pulling back from the first year, rustling around for the half-eaten box of crème eggs. She then slowly exhaled and started peeling the foil off the chocolate, crumpling it up in her hand and throwing it back in the box.
“What would you say about this?” she inquired, biting off the top and making direct eye contact with Nobara. The red-head watched Maki with anticipation, gulping at the suggestive look in her eye.
Maki continued eating and deliberately swirled her tongue around the inside of the chocolate, scooping up the filling. The sultry hint in her eyes lingered, the heavy, direct gaze making Nobara sweat. A steady warmth crept up Nobara’s neck and settled in her cheeks as she stared.
A high pitched whine escaped Nobara’s lips, surprising herself and Maki. She immediately slapped a hand over her mouth, tumbling backwards and lying down.
“Well,” Maki finished, hovering over Nobara’s form. Her face was directed away from Maki, her cheeks tinted crimson.
“No comment,” she mumbled, her fingers twisting around the fabric just above her stomach. Maki cupped her hand around her ear and leaned closer, humming with a question.
Nobara huffed and stayed silent, folding her arms over her chest and pouting.
“Good,” Maki smirked, a smug expression favouring her face.
Nobara thought that was very uncalled for, and it took her a while to calm down. She still could face Maki when she sat up and resorted to reaching for a crème egg when the other wasn’t paying attention.
Leaning back on her hands, Nobara stretched out her legs again, resting her feet on Itadori’s knee. The sun had moved, casting a shadow further to the left than when they had first arrived. Heat had started to gently melt the chocolate, leaving residue on the inside of the foil when opened.
Nobara’s peaceful stretch was interrupted, pulling her out of her daydreams.
“Hey, Nobara?” Maki started, facing the red-head with a facetious glint in her eye. “There’s only one left. Do you wanna share?”
